Very interesting so far. I like sle slow build-up of interaction between characters combined with with the insaine pace that became the trademark of RANMA 1/2. Post more soon, please.

In regards to the curses being gentically passed on, for a long time it was a topic of high consideration. But Rumiko Takahashi has answered that question herself in the Manga - the curses ARE NOT passed on to the next generation. This is revealed in the (fairly long) Herb/Lime/Mint storyline. In this storyline we are introduced to another Chinese group who live somewhere in the same vicinity as the Joketzusoku(Shampoo et'al's tribe) known as the Musk. Their preferred method of reproduction for many generations was to toss an animal into the Spring Of Drowned Girl, and the use their magical Pail Of Preservation to permanently freeze the afflicted into their new curse form, and then proceed to marry and reproduce with the newly created woman. The resulting children would be human, but with some animal blood from their mothers' original forms, adding to their power. (Hence, Mint has wolf blood, Lime has tiger blood, and Herb, the leader, has Dragon blood, making him a truly fierce opponent for Ranma.) The rest of the story is that three have come to Japan seeking the counter to the Pail, the Kettle Of Restoration(?), due to the fact that Herb, having been told of his impending nuptials to a normal woman, tossed his female pet monkey into the spring to see what a woman looks like and prepare himself(they don't really believe in letting their sons be around girls too much while growing up), and while in shock from seeing his first nude girl, the transformed monkey kicked HIM into the spring, and then doused him with the pail! Also, Ryoga and Mousse learn the hard way that Pail CANNOT be used as a cure - they don't say that it FREEZES you into one form for nothing! Thank you, that is all. Oh, and very good thus far, I will now return to reading the other seven chapters.
