Hmm well, i have mixed feelings about this stories start. While it is rather well written, it has a few historical errors. When Yahiko said he thought woman couldnt be samurai, this was quite untrue. In ancient Japan, only nobles could be samurai. And in that same vein, EVERY noble was considered samurai. Being a samurai didn't just mean you were a warrior. It ment you were devoted completely to your Daimyo and Emperor. So all noble woman were also samurai. Trained to defend themselves to some degree. Most woman carried a small blade tucked in their obi at all times. Anyway, i just wanted to clear that up.
Oh and the thing about the geishas, quite right. While geishas used to preform the role of a consort, that was changed somewhere around the mid 15 hundreds. The ladies of the floating world(as they were called) no longer had to be whores >.< But they were trained in the art of conversation, tea cerimony, singing, and the shamisen. Whoo, that's your japanese history lesson for the day. Email me if you need to ask any more questions!
