Reviews for Someone Who Understands

I really really liked it. The lemon was great, with all that emotion firing them in, and the descriptions of their non-gentle but fierce and stron, sword made, sex.

And the title-theme about their understanding? Brilliant. Exactly what I imagine when I see that 20 something episode, their first fight afeter Tokugawa Era.

    Beautiful fic.

I LOVE that you had them competing, even in love-making. The line: "It wasn’t love, and it wasn’t gentle." was friggen' awesome, and perfectly reflects how I imagine two warriors who still aren't exactly on the same side would be with each other. Great job, thank you.

    Splendidly done.
Thank you for writing a Saitou/Kenshin fic, and a coherent one at that.
I love how you focused on need, rather than "love"...by doing so, it lends a more realistic air to the pairing.
And I love how you touched upon the nature of their relationship in relation to Sano and Kaoru.
There's usually this waffiness in these fics, that makes the characters in the story OOC, so I commend you on a job well done.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. You are the first author I've found who took into account how Kenshin had lived during the war and how it had helped shape him. I've often thought about how similar both Saitou and Kenshin are and you basically wrote a story about it. Kind of creepy really since we've never spoken. Anyway, once more, beautiful story and I hoep to read more of your work in the future.

That was your first yaoi lemon. Good work if I do say so myself. The first is always the hardest to get out, the rest come easier. You said you don't have a beta reader for your yaoi stories, well I'll be your beta. I write and publish my stories here too, mostly yaoi, so I might be able to help. Email me if you read my stories and think I could help you out.

All I can say is that this is the most realistic yaoi I've read to date. The power you brought in the beginning through Saitoh's thoughts was an incredible way to build up to the actual lemon. And the repetition with needing someone who understands was a great technique.

It was also short and to the point, not like most that are over drawn. And that was perfect for what you wanted to accomplish here.

All together, I'd say this was a fabulous Yaoi. I'll be looking for more of your work.

I came back to re-read this glorious piece... and, alas, something has gone awry. It is no longer complete. Please fix it. It is too magnificent an accomplishment for you to lose. Some of us want to savor it over and over.

As a rule, I don't like yaoi... but, this was something very different. I'm not even sure what made me read it. I don't like M/M pairings. I'm female and I'm straight, but this wasn't the usual M/M pairing. It wasn't a romantic interlude between lovers. It was something 'real' that could very possibly occur between enemies turned commrads... or wher Ser Saitou and Kenshin have become. It wasn't disgusting, or dirty, or naseating. It was bloody brilliant!!!

The lemon was edgy and very believable, and it wasn't the usual type of thing I've seen on the yaoi circuit. I don't know if that's what you intended or not, but whatever you did... you have a fan here. It was the finest piece of yaoi fanfiction I have EVER read. It stands out among all of them because it is believable and REAL. It kept the characters integrity and didn't change them into something or someone they are not. I applaud you and can't wait to see if you write something like this again. Just because of this, I would be willing to accept romantic pairings in the yaoi from you because you had the insight to write something tangible.

I hope I haven't offended you. That's not my intention. I just want to be honest... and this is a great piece. You have a great voice. Keep writing. The ooey-gooey M/M fictions just aren't believable. This was. Bravo, my friend. Bravo.

    God bless.

*nods* I like. I really like. You are, as we use to say, 'da bomb'

I like Kenshin and Saitou and finding a GOOD one is the most difficult thing to do.

I really liked how you made it rough and not WAFF and all, but I do love WAFF...

Yeah, so please continue writting yaois and all. *peace sign*

That was great. I liked how you explained Saitou and Kenshin's understanding of each other. I thought this was very well thought out. The lemon was nice too. Great job all around.

Usually I don't go for yaoi but this one keeps them in character, doesn't deny Kenshin's love for Kaoru and yes, portrays both of them as hardened men. And it is in good agreement with wartimes historic customs (yes, men in stressfull situations will seek relief from one another). Well done.
