I've not seen Gankutsuou (though I've been wanting to), nor do I know anything about The Sandman, but I had no trouble at all enjoying this beautifully-written story. The Dollmaker is the most gorgeous work I've read on this website, and I doubt I'll find any that will compare.

    Kudos.

Now, when I saw the summary for this story I was wary but curious so I decided to read what you wrote. Being a great fan of both Gankotsuou and Sandman (or anything by Gaiman for that matter) I went into it simply hoping that it wasn't a butcher job and that somebody hadn't just gone into it wanting to smear two great stories together. What I got was so much more; you have here everything I look for in the fiction I read. The writing itself is skilled and delicate-- there are thoughtful words and colourful expressions here where most people (myself included) would have left them bland, and the manner in which you made the story flow was delightful as well. Next came the lacing together so beautifully between the two story worlds, drawn together very well at the end and kept clean and beautiful; I always wanted to continue and know what came next but I was never left annoyed and feeling like drama was happening just for the sake of drama. Another thing that pleased me was that you stayed with character for all of them-- even for those who have changed greatly since the conclusion of the original stories still have a ring of themselves. And finally, there is your overall cut for the story-- like the dolls in The Dollmaker, it is perfected and trimmed gorgeously and I am not left wanting or needing any more or less. I am truly glad that I stopped to read this, and I want to say this: your skill with the written word and the way in which you so masterfully meshed two very different stories together makes me proud of you, even though I don't know you or anything about you. Though I'm sure you have heard this many times, it has to be said-- if one day I could reach a skill level as high as yours I would be overflowing with joy. I was fascinated and very pleased with this work and hope you continue on with your writing because it would be a shame if you never committed another word to paper (or letter to text) again. Thank you for the opportunity to read this, and it was a pleasure. -Wing ( wingsofdirt@gmail.com )

The very last line in chapter 10 is so very profound...
Seriously, instead of expecting to read another shitty smut fic, I stumbled upon a great work of art.
I enjoyed this story cause of how passionate the writing is.
Yes, the characters may not belong to the author, but to be honest, I didn't even notice it anymore by the time I read past chapter 3.
This is a great story. Best fanfic I have read in awhile.

I've just read the first few chapters and you've gotten me hooked! I have yet to read the Sandman series but the way you write makes me very curious about it. Nice turn of events. All the inner turmoil is written really well! I can't wait to read the rest!! Thank you for taking the time to write this.
