ok girl where do i start...one how you portrayed takumi is exactly how i see him. i just haven't had the time to write up the story myself, so thanks for writing it for me lol. but, yes, the part where you wrote that he didn't use contraceptives with nana that is exactly what i thought when i watched and read it!! because than he so carelessly told her to not bother him if she was pregnant and he was only playing, tho at that time i was like oh what an incensitive jerk!!! however, some people think that nana cheated on him. so i'm going to say my say here, she did tell him over the phone not to call her anymore, not to seek her out yatta yatta. than hung up the phone, didn't give him the chance to say anything. well, in her defense, this wasn't a real relationship to her anyway, even if she wanted it to be, she knew that he couldn't love her the way she wanted cuz he'd be womanzing and working like a mad man. so...with that said she made it clear to date nobu. now, as for that i can't wait to see what you have in takumi's mind when he went to the apartment and it hit him that she was pregnant and that she was going to keep it from him. And also, from nobu's point of view. not for nothing, i love nobu but at the same time he didn't step up to the plate. had he stepped up oh it would've been drama overload cuz i would've combusted! lol.

as for the rape scene, you didn't touch the first one yet, which i forsee you getting into it, but for the most part it was because he wanted nobu touch to be erased from her. but in the end...she forgave him right?? rape is wrong peeps, i don't agree with it, but...for these characters how can i say this...the author of the manga "nana" wrote it this way on purpose. takumi is supposed to be bad, but not really, just really misunderstood and in the end wanting to feel loved. he never had it growing up and reira he sees as a sister to protect and...to control...because takumi is a control freak that is his major flaw. but anyway, i ranted a bit forgive me it's nearly four in the morning. i'm surprised your still reading this lol. but, how you wrote the second rape scene at the birthday party (which side note here i was so proud of yasu and i had ;P takumi) was what i saw it to be as well, i'm telling you girl...we are on the same wave here, he was mad that she and nobu were in close proximity, she surprised him because he wanted to get his groove on with some girl and...that girl happened to be with nobu and saw only nobu lol. he noticed shin and reira's relationship and things weren't running for him the way he wanted it he was loosing control and than here comes yasu and tells nana she their guest that she didn't have to leave (yay yasu) was he a major prick, yeah about the biggest one out there and it's nothing to brag about, but, she did stay with him and went to nana's room like nothing happened, so...it may have started off that way and she was still angry and sore at him, but she didn't leave, not yet anyway, if they can come on with updating their chapters we can all find out!!! ok frustrated for a moment. well i will bid you goodmorning??? since it's four. i will be looking forward to your next chapters hint hint, write on the night he discovered her pregnancy!!! tee hee tee hee

    KatDiva,

I've read the other chapters you've written so far, and I think you're
doing an excellent job. Your lemon was one of the best if not THE best
one I've ever seen, and I've read enough bad ones to realize that it
must be very hard to write. By going into Takumi's head you've made him
much more relatable than in the manga...Takumi's regretting how he
treated Hachi and wanting to have a future with her, makes it much easier to
want to like the guy. I thought your point about contraception was an
interesting plot point; in the manga I'd wondered why there weren't
already lots of little Takumis running around since he doesn't have a
problem with casual sex, so you answered that in a plausible way that also
makes his character more appealing. For you to turn this Takumi-hater
into somebody who would like to like the man, is no mean feat and is
evidence of your skill as a writer. Honestly, I want to like him because
I think Hachi is a kind person who deserves to be loved in a respectful
way that brings her happiness, not pain. The Takumi in the manga
disappoints me because he continues to cheat, putting his own desires above
Hachi's happiness. Of course, she participates in that she knows that
he's cheating and rationalizes it. To me, they have a pretty screwy
relationship to start with. Anyway, I appreciate this story because you're
giving Takumi thoughts and motivations that we don't see in the manga,
and you're making him much more likeable. I don't know if I'll ever be
a Takumi fan, but you've made me want to be able to root for their
relationship, and I think that's the result of good writing. So, kudos to
what you've written so far, and I hope that you continue the story.

Good portrayal of Nobu. He's a good bloke. A bit too naive, but good guy.

So the bigger rock is because it's going to take them a long time to finish talkin about personal matters, or is it so they don't lose it? LOL

I like it... thanks and keep updating!

Oh, this was really good! I'm a huge anti-Takumi person, but dammit, you made me like Takumi just a little bit. =P Only a little though, because he's still a lying, cheating scumbag.

Ugh. To "I'm sorry" and whoever else is getting their knickers in a twist about you romanticizing Hachi's "rape": I respect your opinions but you have no right to force them on others, especially this writer.

YES, rape is a very serious issue, but KatDiva has written this fanfic and handled this issue in a very mature and REALISTIC way. Takumi DID force Nana to have sex with him 1) after he proposed to her on Apartment 707 and 2) during Reira's birthday party

    BUT!!!!!!!

You can clearly, CLEARLY see that it didn't leave any emotional scars on Hachi.

    1) After he proposed to her, their sex was more like "angry make up sex" in my opinion which is based from experience. Angry make up sex might not be made with both parties' consent in the beginning, but it doesn't mean that it won't feel good. I can speak from experience.

Come on, let's all be honest here. If you have feelings for a guy and he wants to have sex with you because he's mad that you cheated on him behind his back and that's his way of 'getting even' with you, you'll protest in the beginning but if you don't scream and shout at him or if it doesn't affect you at the end (LIKE IT DIDN'T TO NANA), it's not rape.

You can get all prissy, high and mighty, and all preachy about it, but it's not rape to me.

Hachi was more worried about how Nana and her relationship was going to be instead of this supposed "rape" of Takumi that you're getting worked up about.

I think that you, "I'm sorry", don't have the emotional maturity or experience to understand the depth of Hachi and Takumi's relationship, nor do you have the maturity and grace to appreciate this kind of fanfic.

    2) Takumi's "second rape" of Hachi which happened on Reira's birthday bash WAS RAPE. Yes it was, Hachi said so, and it was. BUT! That is what happens in reality.

    ANGRY SEX
    ANGRY MAKE UP SEX

whatever you may call it - happens.

The whole point of Hachi and Takumi's relationship is that Hachi has matured enough to the stage of NOT giving up as soon as her relationship hits a speed bump.

With Shoji, she quit because he cheated with Sachiko. With Takumi, Yazawa Ai shows that Hachi has matured and she loves Takumi enough to put up with his cheating and his coldness.

"Hang in there", was what Nana told her. "Don't lose to that scoundrel husband of yours!"

If you hate the thought of Takumi and Hachi together so much, "I'm sorry", then stop reading this fanfic. Don't ruin it for the rest of us who appreciate it and for the author.

    To Kat Diva:

I really like your take on Takumi's 'rapes' of her. You've done it in a very tasteful way. Most fanfic authors use rape as a way to make the story more dramatic without really giving the feel of UNDERSTANDING what real relationships are or the emotions involved.

We can sit here forever and argue back and forth about how much of a dick Takumi is or how stupid Hachi is for cheating, so on and so forth, but I think that what you have written is a rare masterpiece. You have what it takes to take a delicate issue as rape and not see it for only as "OMG HE RAPED HER THEREFORE HE'S EVIL AND DESERVES TO DIE!" kind of shit.

As for MY opinion, I think that Takumi WAS a dick. I was drawn to his looks at first, then turned off by his personality and utterly pissed off by his cockiness by the time he proposed. I will admit to wishing Nobu would steal Hachi back and I often found myself agreeing with Shin or Nana whenever they told Nobu to steal Hachiko back.

But as the manga progressed, I saw the layers of Takumi and learned to see what their relationship really was. I think what did it for me was when Hachi's parents and Nami visited Tokyo because the wedding was postponed. It was that day after the 'rape' and Hachi's thoughts were something along the lines of their love might not be perfect - she might "smile today and cry tomorrow", but that IS what love is all about.

You captured that in this fanfic and I hope that reviewers who cannot appreciate what this fanfic's (and the manga's) message is don't get you down.

I will look forward to your future updates.

Wow! Thanks! I read your fan fiction twice at least, you write so well, I thought I was reading a novel. Please do let me know if you have other pieces like this, I'd love to read them as well.

I have to admit that after reading you, I shifted a bit my perception of the whole rape thing. I wanted to go back through the whole volume and read to see if I had missed that; it makes such sense, I can't believe I've overlooked it. Thanks so much for the insight!

Now I have a conflict in my mind. I would expect Nana* to have at least emotional scars from her rape. I mean, a rape is such a terrible thing. But at the end of your fiction, you understand so well the motivations and feelings of both characters that... well, I don't know. It's a rape and it's not. Of course, the reasons Takumi would never justify his forcing himself on Nana* but hmm... It's so understandable! (I'll be smashed for saying that!)

I think we've debated it over and over. Takumi is a bad boy, but gosh, I love this bad boy! That's just my opinion.

Can't wait to read the next chapters!!! ^.^ Let's enjoy all the characters and their flaws!

Anyway, KatDiva, do let me know about your other fictions if you
    have any.

    Thanks a lot!!

One more thing, you're misleading people by saying that the rape people are referring to happened at the party cause it didn't. The rape that most are referring to happened at the apartment Hachi shared with Nana. You know the scene where he forced her onto the bed and FORCED her to have sex!

I'm sorry but you're romanticizing the violation of this woman. What she has with Takumi is NOT love but a relationship based on control . His control of Nana K to be precise and nothing more. Hachi is a coward who walked away from her true love rather than face the mistake she'd made. So in essence she's getting exactly what she deserves having married a dick like Takumi. Lastly I don't care how pretty you make the fic or how dramatic the fact is HE RAPED HER plain and simple, and there is nothing romantic about rape!
