Reviews for The Garterbelt Series: Virtue Rewarded

Ugh, it really is like reading one of those drugstore paperbacks of the same quality as what keeps splattering Pascal's windows. And yet here I am, intrigued if not riveted. And speaking of Pascal, his modification of "The Vine" gave me the shivers. What a strange setting in which to expand my knowledge of English poetry, erotic or otherwise!

No. No, no, no. If Serge leaves Gilbert to die out there with Kurt and the goats of Satan while he runs off to marry some what's-her-face, I will be rather livid. I swear, he'd better bring Gilbert home. Thanks for writing. You're a literary genius. -Bows-

It hates html brackets... wah! Re-posting again:

And as for Sonatina and Wind Song... Serge is so willing to believe in thst fst for Gilbert in the first one! You naive, little boy! *hugs him fiercely* I'm so afraid of what'll happen to him next, even if I already do know what'll happen... gods, I hate Dren! *annoyed!* And in the second one... Serge should learn to start listening to his heart. *firm nod* All that protesting his passion for Gilbert is bad for his health, especially when Gilbert's provoking him! *bats away the silly voice of reason* Shoo! You're ruining things for them!

:D I'm tempted to print out all your fics just so I can read them elsewhere! It's just that it'd cost me a lot in ink and paper. T_T *cries*

Please do write more! :D I'll be reading eagerly!

I just finished reading the second installment you released! XD Carl should really stop trying to convince Gilbert. ^-^ It's /soviouvious how much Gilbert wants Serge... XD I find that part about helping Serge mount the horse very amusing! Gilbert should just bite on Serge's posterior once.. you know... just to know how tasty it'd be. ;)

Pascale is fun in calling Serge a walking nunnery. XD That is SO amusing a mental image! And it's almost like Pascal's writing a song fic. o_O So disturbing... ^___^ I love Serge's reply to Pascal! He sounds so high-sprung and on edge and rebellious at the beginning!

Too bad it wasn't Serge who hid himself in that closet... >_> Patricia has weird ideas on how to matchmake him and Gilbert... ;_; I feel so sorry for Serge... Those servants should stop blaming him for something that isn't his fault! And Gilbert's not -that- innocent if he's the one taking an /active/ part in seducing Serge. Wah!

I'm eager to read the next installment! :D It's really getting interesting! Perhaps I should read that book you're making a parody of, it sounds very much fun! XD

:D And I've read all your other Kazeki fics on your site. :3 They're very good! Here's my thoughts on each of them:

The Impromptu series is so cute! :3 I like all the fics you got out under that series. I particularly liked the modern times one with Gilbert as worried artist using the dishes to make cubist art, the Effel tower and so on. XD It was ADORABLE! The one set in post-Baroque timeline is just so gently lovable. :) so so impatient to see Serge and Gilbert finally get together in that series!

The Peacock King was a nice fairy tale-like series. XD I like it that Prince Gilbert and Prince Serge do fall in wit with each other, though it took Gilbert longer to fall for Serge's charms. Such and adorable fairy tale. X3 It's was perfect the way it is! I couldn't ask for more, except to know that neither of them will be living in poverty the way they've been for a month or so.

A Twilight Idyll.. I know you put that on standby, but I have to say that I'm very intrigued by it so far. O_O Is the sheppard on that portrait -really- watching over Serge? I'm guessng it's Gilbert and that, yes, it is watching over our trapped protagonist... o_O All those entries by Auguste has me really worried. What did he do to Gilbert!?

The Red Ribbon... was there really a fairy tale that ended in such a scary manner? ;_; Did the spirits really come to the ball in it? I must say though.... I'm very glad for both Serge and Gilbert that they're together, even if Serge seemed terrified, though paralyzed and unable to move away. It was cute to see them flirt with each other and I'm glad that Gilbert won't feel lonely anymore, but it was so sad at the same time!

The Garden is so bittersweet... ;_; It's also very representative of both Serge and Gilbert! T_T I'm sad that you had to kill off Gilbert at the end though! *weeps* And having Serge follow him onto the afterlife made it so much more sad and beautiful! Similar to The Red Ribbon in that fashion, but just so beautiful!

And as for Sonatina and Wind Song... Serge is so willing to believe in the best for Gilbert in the first one! You naive, little boy! *hugs him fiercely* I'm so afraid of what'll happen to him next, even if I already do know what'll happen... gods, I hate Dren! >.< And in the second one... Serge should learn to start listening to his heart. *firm nod* All that protesting his passion for Gilbert is bad for his health, especially when Gilbert's provoking him! *bats away the silly voice of reason* Shoo! You're ruining things for them!

Oh, and I forgot to mention... XD Gilbert's a sneaky bastard for always falling back while Serge's talking to him and for having taken so many flowers into his arms, only to drop them on the way and have Serge help him pick them up. ;) The view must be incredible if he repeatedly does that.

LOL ^___^ I love this! Serge is acting like such a prude! But that's so very him, that sweet, loving boy. I was amused when he wrote down the day, hour and seconds since that faithful day. :D Why he didn't write down the minutes is a mystery to me. :) But I love this! Gilbert, despite what misfortune you've thrown at him, seems to have retained his flirtiness. XD I was laughing my lungs out when my eyes hit the line about Serge fainting from the kiss. :3 He needs to get Serge to stop running away from him, though the boy is getting all the exercise he needs from running away from Gilbert. That'll surely make his body even more firm and attractive. ;) I'm certain Gilbert'll appreciate that fact. May Paiva rest in peace, knowing full well that Serge has, so far, been a good boy and done his very best to follow her request. Although I do wonder what she'll think of her favorite going after her son. Ah well... :) Carl is still the religious prick (I affectuously said so, mind you) he is and Pascal is so amusingly rational with trying to tell Serge to accept things as what they are, even though Serge kinda lost the letter before having read it... ^-^ I'm sure he'd have turned that pretty ancient rose hue just reading those lines about Gilbert's nipples. I'm eagerly waiting to read the following chapter! :D

I also read your Baroque series. Just today in fact. (And seeing that you put up another fic[this one] just today had me very pleased~!) I was surprised to finally find some Kaze to Ki no Uta fanfics and, BOY, was it a great surprise! You write extremely good and you got the characters' personalities so well! (Not counting the few modifications you did here and there.) I was wondering what would happen since you mentioned having put this in a modern setting, but, unfortunately, I kept having to remind myself that it wasn't the old France and ancient way of thinking on many occasions. Although I don't like Dren at all (I at least remembered that Serge did succeed in kicking the senior out of his room before I started growling at Dren) I must say that your portrayal of him as...shall I say villain? was perfect! Quite a few times, I wished that Gilbert and Serge suddenly fall to their knees and declare their love for each other, but the pace of the story is just fine the way it is. :D The story itself is stronger from the pace at which it is going since you're giving them, Serge and Gilbert, a believable amount of time to get accustomed to each other. (chapter 4-5 by your titling them) Uh... yes, I'm ignoring the fact that Serge's the only one who thinks they're making progress while Gilbert's still too absorbed in his thoughts of Auguste.

I've yet to read your Phantasmagoria fanfic, but I'm about to do so right now. :D Please do keep on writing! You're an excellent writer and I'm waiting eagerly to read more of your work! Maybe I should try myself at reading that GW fic... I've turned most GW fics down due to the too large and too crazy fandom, but with the skills that you have at prose, I don't think I'll be disappointed. Keep on the good work!
