Reviews for The Lost

Coffee?? or would you prefer something stronger this time?

After reading this chapter, I now feel that Chapters 1-7 was Part 1 to The Lost, and we are now starting Part 2 of this tale, as this chapter introduces a new group of Ancient Elders for our Intellects and Warriors to face. The question is where the battle will take place, Amoi or Fidelis? And would this mob join forces with the group of Elders working with Lord Bastion? Or will they try to wipe each other out beforehand?

I also found this chapter a re- introduction of characters we haven't seen in depth for a while. It was a nice balance to see the Mink household's reaction to Yui's new status, and Yui coming to terms with it all now that he is away from the Firm, Lady Erin and Jupiter.

It is no surprise that this lot would sit down and discuss what took place during the Lord's Dance. After all Attendants usually know more about what is happening than anyone. I'm must still hoping though, that when all memories are returned that Yui and Raoul are similar in behavior to Iason and Riki. (Yui was too easy with the whole thing as they sat around drinking for my liking :) when it comes to this { Yes, I know I've got a bugbear on that subject} )

As to what is taking place on the ship, I really like how the individual past histories are being slowly revealed. Yousi's story is a good example of how one can miss their chances, and even now although he and Heiku are together now, he still regrets the past.

Which brings us to Raoul. Hanging on a thread waiting for his awakening. Because I want him to wake, but I want Yui to be there, and as I've said before I dread seeing him fall into Kai's waiting arms. . . even 'if' the man means well.

Riki senses something, but like all good stories, will he work out in time what is wrong, or will it be a last second reveal so that knowledge is there, but no time to find a solution.

Hope the next chapter has Erin involved in the mix, because her mind might be the only thing that can reach them in time. And it would be nice if the ladies aren't just window dressing but active participants in the solution.

As I said before this chapter struck me as being more an intro to Part 2, so I look forward to more indepth/action in the next chapter.

Hope you enjoyed your chosen beverage, as you suffered through my ramblings.

Hope the next update is soon :)

    Hope the update is soon.

I think we are both in need of a strong cuppa after this chapter :)

Alot of things that Kai has said here, answer previous questions, and yet between you and me, I still am wary of him.

First off, he did no service to Raoul by burying his memories so deep. Personally for all his 'good' intentions' I think it was cruel to rob him of his memories of his lover and even of Yui's death. He deprived him of his right to mourn, and he had no business taking that away from him. Would he have liked it if he were robbed of his memories of Erin, Riki or Raiman? So why do that to Raoul?

To give him peace, or to give himself peace? Kai uses the excuse because of his 'mental strength he decided to lock his memories. Well to my mind, Raoul would have dealt with it as they all did, so this doesn't make sense. Even Riki thinks: Raoul had his break, and then shut down shortly thereafter. He was not afforded the time necessary for him to deal with the death in a constructive way.

Also why does Kai say When I learned at the Lord's Dance that this “Yui” was his lover in the present, I wondered if he was one and the same. I now see that it is as I feared.

Ok, what did he 'fear', if anything if he was being helpful, he would be overjoyed that Yui was here in the present not fear it. And not try and bed Raoul at the same time. . .

So I continue to wonder what game he is playing and why? I do not think him evil or a villain but I don't think you can paint him as clean as you would like to. And you know you are smiling at me right now because you know I'm right about this.

Now if I've understood this correctly, even if Raoul awakens, unless Riki lifts the 'block' imposed by his father', Raoul won't have a past memory of Yui. But he would have damn good memory of being Kai's lover. . .

And they've all agreed to keep the block on until Yui and Raoul can be reunited in real terms. Have they all lost the plot? Are they also planning to block out that Yui is an Ancient too? Because then Raoul might start to ask questions, and heaven forbid he does that. . .

Personally, I think if Yui and Raoul met in the minds eye Raoul would be hurting, but also start healing at the same time. I don't think he would be weaker than Kai, and I think he could cope better than Iason. Riki had the right idea here, not Iason. The Truth will Set you Free, and all these Blondies want to do is hide it because they can't handle the truth and are not giving Raoul the chance to deal with it.

One more thing that I find 'curious' for a better word. Kai is very happy to block everyone's memory of Yui and basically wipe him out of 'history'. .. and if he was 'wiped' then most likely his story would have been lost and he would never have been 'revived'.

Curious and curiouser when it comes to Lord Kai don't you think?

Yui on the otherhand has been thrown into the deep end and couldn't give a stuff about himself as long as Raoul is safe. And yet no one thinks of getting him on a shuttle and out there as fast as possible.

I think at this stage, even before Yui and Raoul awaken, they could have a meeting in the mind's eye, just to bring them both some peace. Especially now that Yui is an ancient, and Raoul doesn't have a clue about him. Hell, he might start thinking, who was Yui involved with in the past. . .and open up a whole new can of imaginary worms.

As to Lord Bastion and the Elders well the plot/action quickens there. I imagine many things will happen on that little green planet before those Maidens get home. . . which is why it would be a pity for both Erin and Yui to be sitting on the sidelines on Amoi.. .

Well, we've drunk our coffee and I'm sure I've chewed your ear off about our mutual friends. XD

Looking forward to the next update and coffee -

Wow, that was rather enlightening, poor Raoul this is indeed going to be rather hard for him, as it will for Yui. But they will bother have people that know them and love them there to help them get through this. So only time will tell on how much suffering they will have to go through before they find peace. And if Lord Bastard and that Elder thinks they will get Riki they have another thing coming, so I'm not worried about that Riki will be fine, Iason will make sure of it.

Wow. . . that muse of yours must be working over time :)
    Time for a cuppa?

I love the way things are going at the moment. Erin is awake, Yui now knows he is an Ancient, as does Raoul and their individual reactions give us further information as to what goes on in their heads. Yui has a calm acceptance towards the revelation, while Raoul, seems to break by the news. Did he actually faint at that point, or was his mind just such a turmoil that Riki stepped in and knocked him out?

So even though Raoul claims he wants to awaken, it seems the past pain in losing Yui is blocking him from doing so, which makes an interesting conundrum. Can he be forced to awaken? Will he be given a few concrete facts, as that seems to what will be happening with Yui. and pushed into it?

And will Kai play a part in this? Or now that Erin is 'awake' will he stand quiet and let things happen as they should? Interestingly enough, where was he when Raoul was knocked out? Even though he was rapt with Erin's awakening, surely he would have seen Raoul's collapse and question what was going on.

And if Erin knew Yui, why didn't Kai know him as well? Are there blanks in his memory? I really expect alot of unanswered questions to be answered when Raoul awakens, because once more you have made it a point to show that Kai did not know how Yui died, let alone that he and Raoul were involved, because only Omi, Argent and Yousi know what happened. . .

Since there has already been a long range awakening, I would think that Lady Yuri would only awaken when everyone returns to Amoi, however, that would mean that Raoul and Yui have to awaken separately. Is there any way to get Erin and Yui on a very fast ship and have them join the 'party' at Le Fidelis before Yui or Raoul awaken ? :)

BTW I loved the way Erin was out to kill Raimen for killing her. I hope we see more of her as she gains strength. The interaction between her and Jupiter will also be 'interesting', as she comes to terms with the present world.

Well, the coffee is finished. . .

Looking forward to further revelations. Hope your muse keeps on
inspiring you. And hope the next update is soon.

Poor Raimen he has no clue as to why Erin wants to mame him.*smiles* And Raoul, man I hope this event wont make things worse for him when it comes time for his awakening.Well thank you for the chapter, can't wait to see what happens next, 'til next time BYE!!*smiles*

"virtual coffee" and for all those who don't like me spouting off, please don't read any further than this :)

I really am curious to see when the Queens awaken, as I hope it won't be at the very end of this tale. Even though they haven't appeared yet, their personalities have come across clearly and I for one would like to see them as active participants in the storyline. One of the things I know I would like to see as it has never happened before in this universe is the reuniting of the husbands and wives privately before the four of them romp off together. I know there is love between all of them, but in this case I get the feeling a private moment would be worth seeing, as it could also be a healing one in some respects for the 'lords'. I feel the ladies are the ones whose shoulders can bear the greater misfortune of that passed world, and that the men need them to come to terms with issues they each have.

As to Yui, you do realize you are driving my imagination wild. We know he died young and sacrificed himself to save others. I can understand the present day Yui not wanting to know of his past. He is content with his present as long as he has Raoul by his side. Interestingly enough, he knows that Raoul needs more, and is willing to go along with that desire. Perhaps a hang over from what ever went on in the past? I hope we see more of that past relationship at some stage.

What worries me is I get the feeling that before Yui recovers his memories (btw, I love the clubbing on the head line :) ) he has to regain his past personality to some extent. By that I mean, the quiet and unassuming Master Yui of the past came to the forefront to save the children when there was no other way. I get the feeling that something will happen in the present that will put Yui in the same sort of situation, I only hope without the same result. I think Yui has to be seen as more than an attendent or a lover or even a past Ancient. He needs to show some strength of character to keep the momentum you have created flowing.

Which brings me to Raoul and his awakening. All the hints say it will happen on the mission, when he is no where near Yui. I think it will absolutely kill me to see him fall into Kai's arms at that stage. So the screams you hear in the distance will be mine :) However, the drama effect and the aftermath as it all comes together would be powerful to say the least.

    ::finishes coffee::

It really was a great chapter, full of action, thought and hints of things to come.
Look forward to the next one, hope it won't be a long wait.

I know I said I was going to read it tonight but I couldn't wait, now my eyes hurt and I can't see a thing.*smiles* But I loved the chappie, taking alot in them NOT to tell Yui the truth but hey it's what Jupiter wants. But I have a feeling that the truth will come soon for him, I don't know why I think that I just do. Now the wonderfull healing touch of Raimen, damn if I get hurt really bad can HE heal me. *drools* But I am glad that the medics are all nice and healed. Still can't wait for Iason to KILL that asshole, hell he'll give Lord Bastard a sound beating after what he saw of their backs. Thanks for the update, can't wait for the next chappie!!

This was really a full on chapter, so many things happening, some questions answered, more questions to ask, some personalities about to grow while others seem to become more of a loose cannon as the story continues.

Once more over that virtual cuppa. .
Don't you think that Kai is becoming more of a loose cannon? The more involved he becomes in dealing with the 'evil' Elders in the current time, the more he seems to be losing control. It will be interesting to see how strong or erratic he will become as the 'battle' continues, because, unless certain things are brought to fruition soon , that's what will happen. . . everything will be a battle field again.. And if he does become more erratic as time goes on, is there someone who can 'pull' (for a better word) him back? I would guess the Lady Erin, but that would depend on when she awakens. . . .

    Speaking of awakening. . . . (you knew I couldn't leave that one alone. . . :)
I think I was right . . . Kai doesn't know about Yui.. .because Riki didn't speak him in his mind about Raoul. He spoke only to Omi, Argent and Yousi .

As to Yui, I hope you will cover what goes on as Sir Hector 'educates him. I reckon he was still a gentle soul even as a Warrior, so if Raoul awakens on planet, would that trigger Yui's awakening as well?

I imagine that would be a mixed bag in many ways. . .Kai's reaction being a key point as reality hits. . . think those Queens better wake up quick smart to fix things up XD

Hope I'm not driving you crazy with my suppositions. . .but I do find your characters thought provoking. . . and I admit to having a soft spot for Yui (I think you guess that lol).

So, I'll finish my virtual coffee and leave you in peace. .. look forward to the next update. Hope its soon.

Sweet that was really a good read, I feel bad for Raoul but at least when he does remember he will know that even though he lost Yui some time ago, he is alive and waiting for him to return now.*smiles* I can't wait for when Lord Bastard gets his, it would have been funny to see him get knocked on his ass out of nowhere and then wonder what hit him.*giggles* But alas that will have to wait for Iason and him to come face to face. Wei and Wyl I like them, I hope we see more of them in the upcoming chapters. But now we need to figure out what Simon gave to that prick that will help them.*scowls*

Your characters are coming across so strongly and real, so lets sit down across that internet table and have a virtual coffee as we chat about common friends. ..

I would never haved dreamed of Yui being a Warrior, so one aspect of Raoul's awakening has been solved or has it? You know what it's like when everyone thinks everyone knows something because it is common knowledge, but that really isn't the case. . .

Well that is my feelings toward Lord Kai at the moment. He doesn't know who Yui is. . .because if he did then he wouldn't have done what he did during one of the last chapters of Echos. . . I get the feeling that when Yui died, Raoul kept it all in and those who didn't know in the first place never ever knew who Raoul's lover was. All they knew was that he had lost someone, but he would never let that name past his lips again. And of course most people would assume that the others knew, and no one spoke about it because there was so many dying at the time, that this was nothing out of the ordinary.

Raoul and Kai came together out of pain and sorrow. I know Kai suffered the longest, so he would have understood where Raoul was coming from and would try and comfort him. And Raoul would see the pain in Kai and try to relieve that as well. . .

So even though Kai has 'compassion' for Raoul, there is also a love there that was created by need at that time, and at times Kai, for all his strength, is very needy. Which is what Raoul is reacting to and Raimen understands this. Because in that little love scene, Raimen didn't stop Kai from seducing Raoul, and kept Yui occupied in turn so his friend could be made 'happy' for that moment for a better word.

The question will be what will happen when Raoul awakens, and where will he awaken? Is Yui there or not? How will Kai react when he realizes that Yui is Raoul's Ancient lover. Will he be able to stand aside or will he insist on claiming what he feels is his right? What about Yui? Does he awaken? Does this mean that he will have a 'long life span now"? If and when he gets his memories, now that he is of the Warrior Class, would he even want to 'share'?

Blame yourself for making these characters so vibrant and interesting :)

I know this is only one small part of the story, but I have to admit it is the one that at the moment has caught me up the most emotionally.

I can talk on about Kai and Raimen gong into 'parent' mode when Iason and Riki have been doing fine on their own for a very long time, and I'm sure that when the Queens appear, more angst will occur to wring me out. But I think I've driven you crazy by this time and I've finished my virtual coffee.. .

So looking forward to the next up date. . . hope it isn't too far away

Bastian's one sick Bastard. I cannot wait for his demise. How much more full of himself can he possibly be? I have a feeling Riki will probably be the one to bring that down a few notches. Also, though I hadn't expected it so soon, I'm happy to see Yousi regaining himself. The part about him thinking that everyone could see the wormholes was hilarious. And Iason and Riki once again brought the ship to a halt and the part about never being able to look at each other naked and not be instantaneously aroused is as to be expected. I love how you have blended the ancients past and the present together in those who have awakened. I expect great things from this volume of the series. Update soon please!!

    Ganbatte!!
