this is a good story so far. I like Karou with an edge, so far you have done a good job of maintaining a character who could realistically evolve from the karou we see in the searies. Keep up the good work

Kenshin\'s interreaction with Kaoru is stupifying. Disappearing for years untold then acting as if nothing had happened? I mean, after breaking his promise and lng, ng, how can he possible still claim to be concerned for her wellfare? If he was so inclined he could have returned instead of settling down elsewhere. I most certainly agree with Kaoru\'s side of the argument, the rurouni needs a good bwhoowhooping!

Very interesting start. Your style is very nice, the descriptions are vivid. I love your portrayal of Kaoru\'s character, giving her the strength to move on from whatever Kenshin did to betray her trust. In this case I\'m assuming he must have left her again, breaking his promise. But what intrigues me is that he took the time to settle down elsewhere with his inn. (O.O Kinda like Kaoru and her dojo) Their roles seem to be curiously reversed. I\'m interested to see where you will go with this. Please feel free to poke me when you update.
