I\'m thinking that this thing between Ken/Kao can only end badly, sweet as it is...but I\'m such a sucker for tragic romances, must be thama ama queen in me. ;)
Hey, if Kaoru\'s a druggie AND works at a sex joint, doesn\'t that means there\'s a very good chance of her being HIV+ also? I\'m not stereotyping, but it seems like a real threat...
Anyway, I liked the way the characters all go on with their lives with humor (well, the dry, wry kind in Kenshin\'s case) instead of feeling sorry for themselves, even if the circumstances are hopeless at times. I\'m looking forward to the next chapter! ^_^

I like how yoowedowed Kenshin as a person of extremes - ready to bite off someone\'s head one minute and shy, remorseful the next. And it was a nice touch to include the part about Kenshin\'s introspective about Soujiro being the more heart-sick of the two because it draws parellels with the first two chapters where Kenshin was filtered to us from Soujiro\'s view; I thought it was interesting because it shows how biased the 1st person pov, when Soujiro or Kenshin was narrating, could be.

Long-winded theories aside, here are some links that I\'ve saved when I was planning for my trip, which might help you:

(General) http://www.notfortourists.com/pdf.html - this page is currently offline, but you could wait and see if it gets back up because it gives a refreshingly non-touristy view. Meaning there\'s not as much effort to gloss over the poorer areas.

Nothing would beat having a real NYer telling you, though.

I\'ve never heard of Rent...Well I\'m not exactly all that familiar with broadway shows either...I know of only a few whom I told about by my friends in Drama club. Sex, drugs and rock n\' roll people always leave out some of the most important details with that phrase...Disease and Death, It just seems to fall through the lines in the glorious vision of sucha life.
Ah...There I have spouted my opinion....Anyway,This story sure seems like it has all the elements to end really ugly, But yave ave captured my curiousity and I\'n anxious for the next chapter. I\'m looking forward to the smut.

Please continue, I\'m so excited someone had the guts to write Rent/RK fusion fic and I want to know who Misao\'s girlfriend will be and Angel too. If anybody flames you for making Rk characters have HIV that just shows how narrow-minded they are. Update soon!

I haven\'t seent ent before, but that doesn\'t stop me from liking your fic. Kenshin as a musician fits well.

And nothing\'s wrong with your story...I don\'t mean to sound rude, but when you\'re feeling down about the lack of reviews ask yourself why you\'re writing this - is it for the reviews or is it just for yourself with the reviews being a nice bonus on the side? I understand it\'s very discouraging not having many responses, but many good fics on ff.net also don\'t have many reviews at all (like there was one great story that had 10 long chapters and only 15 reviews) but the writers keep writing for their pleasure, to improve their writing skills, etc and aren\'t dependent on reviews as writing fuel. Some fics only start getting popular after there are several chapters, plus not every reader reviews - so hang in there.

Hey, don\'t feel too bad about the reviews. I for one am going to be so disappointed if you give up \'cause you\'ve got me hooked, and besides, just because a fic\'s popular doesn\'t mean it\'s necessarily a good one! ^_~ Just look at how many reviews those \"Kenshin x YOU\" fics have (they have like 100 on mm.org).
I wanna read more of this so badly. ^_^
