I haven't read too many Saiyuki fics (not from lack of availability, but from lack of quality), but I stumbled across this one today. I adore the Hakkai and Gojyo pairing, but I haven't been able to find a story with those two that is to my liking. But this one...this one is definitely to my liking! :P The style of writing (extreeeeeemely well-written), the general mood and tone of the story...everything is awesome. And the journal entry that Gojyo actually read was so beautifully written. It was typical Hakkai, no doubt about it. Angst and unending devotion, all wrapped into a single piece of paper. Just superb. And I love how IN-character both men are. While I know that all characters used in fan fiction will be out of character in some way (obviously, since it's not canon), but your Hakkai and Gojyo act like...well, Hakkai and Gojyo. There's no other way to put it. So, thank you for writing this wonderful story!

Thank you, very much, for writing a beautiful story. The narration is powerful and poignant, sweet and very, very hot, in all the right places. The \"in-character\" part was handled with grace and subtlety- I don\'t think you have anything to worry about, ever. And your prose is light enough that I don\'t see the words when I read, I just see the story.

That was awesome. I was enthralled the entire time. Great setup, great characterization, built-up suspense, amazing sex, everything. Bravo. It was so brave of Gojyo to write Dear Kanan, I thought, and I loved it. I also ALWAYS love Hakkai being seme, because I think it suits him. I thought you wrote him perfectly as a lover, as well. Really captured him. So enjoyable to read. Thank you.

Very nicely done. You\'ve managed to keep the characters in character, without making them feel stiff or artifical. There weren\'t any grammar or spelling issues to point out. Just a lovely bit of work. Hope to see more of their growing relationship.

Gojyo writing to Kanan – sent chills down my spine. It was almost like he was asking for her approval, “Can I love him too?” Wow!

Gojyo’s reluctance over reading the journal was wonderful. He knows he shouldn’t, but he does it anyway. With the appropriate amount of “I shouldn’t” tucked in there. Grand!

Hakkai finding a gray hair – gods I wish I would have thought of that! That was just – it made them feel like real people not just characters from an anime.

The sweet darkness of Hakkai’s voice in the journal entry was superb!

The title was chillingly fitting. Two letters and two different types of lost.

Describing Hakkai as silk that slips around one’s neck before strangling is perfect!
