It\'s not awful. However, MPD requires more than one defining event. It really denigrates what people with MPD went through when you turn it into something so simplistic. So, my suggestion is to do in-depth reading on MPD and psychology before attempting something like this again. Then you\'ll be able to give it more depth and breadth.
Have you read something like \"Memoirs of a Geisha\"? I ask because if you have, you\'ll notice that they don\'t include Japanese honorifics when the story is in English. Really, the inclusion of -chan and -sama and the like is an affectation of fangirls/boys overall. Yes, this *is* fanfiction, but as writers of whatever stripe, why bother writing at all if the easily correctable is going to be excused with \"it\'s just fanfiction.\"
Lastly, you do need a beta for word usage. Spellcheckers can catch a truly misspelled word, but they can\'t catch a word that\'s properly spelled but misused - waste/waist is the one thing that comes to mind.

Wow, very well done. (a few types, spelling, and grammar errors, but I nitpick). I was worried opening it, thinking \"oh my God, what\'s on this link,\" but I was very pleasantly surprised. You painted a very possible picture of yumiko\'s past. ^_^

I finally got around to reading it. I loved this. I always wondered what happened to her as well and this is a very good explanation as to how Yumi was created. Great job.
