This is a damn good piece. I love, absolutely, love, the mindgame, and I can see L doing exactly that! Shame on Light for making assumptions! At least he got over it quickly.
Gramatical suggestion - careful of adverb overuse and run-on sentences. The first sentence in this could easily have been two, maybe even three. I almost stopped reading right there, which would have been a real shame. This is too good a story to have that kind of first impression!
