Hehehehe... it was mild and doesn't seem to have too much twist. it's a very light-hearted fic, one i would remember from time to time... Good job!

I don't usually review (I know, I'm one of those horrible people that authors hate), but I had to tell you how much I enjoyed this story. You've got a lot of talent so I hope you keep writing. ^.^

Both women turned to look at him at the same time. Tokio with a serene smile on her face, and Kaoru with a predatory gleam in her eye and a satisfied smirk. Kenshin had the sudden urge to squirm, when it hit him like a ton of bricks. His innocent little wife had an uncanny ability to please him in the bedroom. Beyond anything he had ever imagined. Almost as though she had studied how to….

Kenshin gulped and felt the blush steal across his face. Looking away from the women, he looked straight into the face of the smirking Wolf of Mibu.

“I warned you about gossiping women, Battousai. It seems you have been the target of a conspiracy.” Saitou turned an appraising look on Kaoru.



I want you to know that this by far was one of the funnies bits I've read this evening. I could feel Saito's smirk. I love snarky Satio. He makes me happy. ;-)

Wow! I just adored this fic! It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. At first, it seemed as though it was just going to be a fun, steamy sex story, which is all fine 'n dandy in itself, but to have it progress into a very believable story of how things might have unfolded between Kenshin and Kaoru in the early stage of their marriage was a blessed and much appreciated treat. I'll admit that there *were* parts that I found to be a bit farfetched, OoC, or overly silly, but on the whole, I found "Awakenings" to be a very believable, tenderly romantic, and heartfelt story. My favorite part would have to be when Kenshin actually proposes. I myself have AGONIZED and agonized over the matter on many an occasion--something about the tender, unspoken romance between Kenshin & Kaoru has always made it incredibly difficult for me to imagine an appropriate visualization that was neither dull nor overly saccharine, yet still retained the underlying passion I felt necessary, but I think that you quite succeeded in the task in that beautiful proposal scene. I think it actually brought tears to my eyes, without the usual after-taste of self-recrimination I usually feel after such displays of "silly girlishness." Thank you so much!! After those first few chapters of amusement and steamy anticipation, (which was good by its own merit) you did a fantastic job of retaining the underlying motivation of love and tenderness prevalent throughout the story that made it purely Kenshin x Kaoru! You didn't drown it in sentimentalities (though the end of the epilogue, I admit, did get somewhat weighed down;) neither did you fill it with an overabundance of lust and heated gropings. I'm always saddened when a good fic turns south by losing sight of the true purpose and becomes nothing but meaningless smut. Smut is smut. It should not replace loss of direction and plot. You wrote Kaoru very intuitively, managing to play off of her character's determination and strength, without ignoring her obvious purity and inexperience (i.e. she was neither an umbelievable tramp, nor a frightened, cold fish.) And most of all, you kept our beloved Kenshin in character; something rarely seen in one of these fics. You tempted him, and knew when and how he would both resist and give in to temptation. Very insightful! I especially loved the little detail you put in to his eyes, and how they changed--very nice! I have the exact same theory on that matter, as well.

I'm sorry to go on so much! Though I had mixed feelings about parts, it was those details that stood out to me the most and made me so enjoy this fic, so I just had to go into them a bit! If you plan to continue writing, please keep up the great work!

The ending was adorable. Kaoru being disturbed by people knowing that she and Kenshin were having sex seemed very in character to me. She is only seventeen years old after all. And I like your take on Tokio and Saito.

Very enjoyable story. I hope to see more like it soon.
