A splendid story, for sure; in terms of the actual story itself. As far as the characters are concerned though, it's quite a far cry from the portraits of the characters that are painted throughout the show. I realize that you are taking into account the maturity of aging, and of course; this is something that should play a definite factor. But, at the same time; you seem to have taken the essence of their characters that many have come to love and done away with them for a more accurate portrait that suited your needs of the story. While I can understand your reasoning for doing this, and it may be known to you that this is true. It seems in writing fan fiction, one would want to stray from the world of the absolute fantasy that is created in our minds, and anchor oneself to the created character that drove the reasoning for creating the story. I admire your writing skills, I'm not doubting you at all in that area. It's just I feel as though I'm not reading a story about the characters themselves, and just another story with characters with the same names by a completely different creative mind. While I understand the need to change the characters to fit a certain situation, it just feels like they could have been altered less to give them the same feel that made the series so enjoyable to watch.

Eureka Seven is one of my favorite anime series, and this story definitely did it justice! Renton and Eureka were perfectly in character, and it was both romantic and sexy :) Great job!
