There are way too many things I need to say about this fic, and my thoughts aren't clear enough to express them all.
So many people chose this odd Ace impersonator when they're writing about him. He's like an odd cross between Zoro and Sanji, but it really doesn't fit the characterization of Ace within the series. As one of my favorite characters, I'm really picky about him being spot on and yours is one of 3-4 fics that I've read that has him anywhere near correct; and I think your Ace is pretty much spot on. I think your Luffy is pretty much spot on too, actually.
The entire fic is a brilliantly written introspective piece, on several characters, but especially of the focus: Ace & Smoker. I think you delve into their 'being's very well and really capture the souls of characters. I especially love the part where its just Smoke & Fire. Clever and visual. Beautiful, really.
You have a great tone to your work. Great insight. Beautiful language. Just, brilliant all over.

Wow. Just... wow. I'm completely and utterly amazed. Your story simply blew me away, I can't think of any words that would express just how great this is. The way you describe Smoker and Ace - from the little, annoying habits, to their unrestrainable, destructive sides - is absolutely wonderful. I also adore the way you include Luffy, Whitebeard, and other rather minor characters, creating a bigger picture than it would have been if you had just focused on Ace and Smoker. Really, beautifully done. This is going on my 'recomended reading' list.

I like the way this story flowed, with pieces of Luffy, Smoker, and Whitebeard around Ace's life. Very good read.

This was... I don't know how to describe it. It has such a strong mood to it, such deep thoughts under it and so much potential above it... It's wonderful. It's amazingly well written and it's very insightful. Beautiful.

I have to say that I really, really enjoyed this, all of it. The pov changes, the little musings, it's all fantastic!
