for Tear You Apart

I'm excited to see the sequel to your last story already well on its way. I really do like the L/Kira dynamic far more than L/Light; it's just so much more interesting when each is aware of the other's identity, and ideals and schemes clash. L has made a very interesting decision, in voluntarily choosing to save Kira's life, and I hope we find out a bit more about that - not just his feelings, but his reasoning, since he will undoubtedly continue to give the situation a great deal of thought.

As for Kira, I am not convinced Light and Kira are two separate entities. I agree that the Death Note more probably magnifies aspects of the wielder's personality, or rather, that it grants the wielder a greater range of opportunities than he would have had without such an object within reach. But such a change doesn't change who the wielder inherently is, it merely enables him to act in a way he couldn't previously have considered. I don't know if that's irreversible, but I hope it is. Kira is far more interesting than Light, and I would rather see him stay.

In the last story, I also found it a nice touch that you actually switched from referring to him as Light once he recovered his memories, which might be strange since I still devotedly subscribe to the theory that Light is Kira and Kira is Light. But to hear him actually referred to as Kira is unusual, and I feel that your usage of the name, as well as L's eventual shift in referring to Light as Kira or Kira-kun, emphasizes the change in the story and in Light's mind.

I'm never certain how to feel about Mello and Near. I dislike that they take attention from L and Kira, even in canon. However, I really do like the plot idea here, where the two of them take on L and Kira, even if the sequence of events should logically culminate in L and Kira's victory. Somehow I don't think things will be that simple, and I look forward to seeing how you plan to handle it!

Hehe- very cool. I love the section where Near talks about L's attraction to Light and everyone's reactions. The line "What other explanation would Aizawa offer for the security footage?" Is just priceless. I could just see Near sitting there, playing with his blocks, twirling his hair, and watching LxLight p0rn stoicly. Ahahaha. =3

Thanks for updating so fast! "She feels no pain." - That part made me tear up. I feel sorry for Misa. (Hey, wait, what about Nori!?) This is an incredibly belated time to comment on this, but I love the fact that Light doesn't dream. It's such a creative conceptive, and it makes his genius much more tangible than flowery vocabulary.

Cool. Again, I like the idea of Kira battling Light in his dreams. It's...and going back to the "Death Note effects Light's sanity thing", it's making it seem entirely plausible that Light always had the potential to have a split personality, and that the Death Note served as a way to push him over the edge. Also, interesting thing that I noticed in this chapter, was the idea that the longer Kira is away from the Death Note, the less...I don't know. It's like Kira is more perceptible to Light's interaction and his attraction to L. It's almost like Kira and Light are becoming a single being again and the absence of the Death Note is making that possible.

I noticed that you mentioned feeling a little shaky about Mello's character. Personally, I think you did a fine job of writing him and Matt, and especially Near, in the last chapter. And you also mentioned that you ordered the Los Angeles B.B. Murder Cases on-line. I can almost garuntee that you will have a very clear idea of how to write a "grown-up" Mello after reading the book, as it is written by Mello and you have a dozen chapters or so with Mello's narration. In the introduction, when Mello finally gets around to introducing who he is, he says something to the effect of "My name is Mello; the best dressed asshole who ever died like a dog." So I'm excited that you're going to hop into that. That being said, the reason why I think you did a fine job with mello last chapter is because Mello is still technically a child, right? And so, he still has that self-possessed immaturity to go hand in hand with his bratty, "I'm the main character" personality. So, well done. Don't sweat it too much.

And, yes, Aizawa. *sigh* Truth be told: I really didn't care for him much at first; and it was for the sole, shallow reason that I couldn't wrap my head around his hair. But then, when he gets exasperated and rips his pants off to get into the building in that one episode, I was so amused that I began paying closer attention to him. Later, when he quits the team and tells L how much he despises him, and L remarks quietly that he always liked him and Aizawa pauses, I knew, without a doubt, that Aizawa was a jewel. For L to be compelled to give that last remark--and I really did believe L; I think L really does respect Aizawa--and for it to strike a chord in Aizawa and then for him to later become a key player, was just phenomenal to me. And I am excited that we'll see more of him in furthur chapters.

Ha ha, and I loved the fact that Kira hated Italy for the sole reason of not being fluent in Italian. That made me giggle.

I am on the edge of my seat for the next chapter!

Gloria

P.S. I think I fell in love with Near in this chapter. He completely stared the President of the US of A down without even having to look at him!

Wow, I cannot believe how fast you write. Makes me feel guilty for not finishing my trilogy of Light and L goodness or starting the misaxmatsuda goodness I promised people. Now there's an under rated pairing. The really awful thing is I have the draft on my laptop. Are you the writer for shades of mystications as well? Wow, if so I feel super guilty. Thanks for answering my review before. I hope you (if you're the same author) will write more on shades of mystication cause that is still my current fav fanfic. Can there be more dream scenes? I like Light and Kira fighting for control. Maybe they can do while awake as well? Total clash of the titians, I can almost imagine them fighting each other phsically, pulling hair and ripping their own clothes till they are half naked, and then L steps in... hehe

Loved the interaction between L and Kira (that snotty brat!) Near wasn't as irritating as normal, possibly down to teh fact that he seemed shoved in as an afterthought at the end of the chapter (which suited me just fiiiiine. Can't wait to see what happens!

Sorry for the short review - I'm not feeling my super special awesome self today :S *hugs Kira plushy, looks to the side and covertly makes it kiss L plushy*

I love Goodnight Moon and I love this too, so far~ *o*

I loved Misa's reference to Shuuya in Battle Royale~ Isn't that the same actor who played Light in the DN movies too? XDDD

Also, I must say that one of the top 3 reasons I loved GM was the distinction between Light and Kira, and inherently creating two personalities~ I'd always considered Light and Kira to be seperate, and you're the first (and only, to my knowledge, but then again I only read on AFF.net) author I've read to make the distinction. You do it very well too~ :3

COOL! A sequel. But wouldn't it have been easier to just add on more chapters to Goodnight Moon? (Love that song btw) Matt seems a bit out of character, its just he's more of a smartass in the manga and anime. Oh, but don't get me wrong it is a brilliant start and I can't wait to see more Light and L. Is there going to be anymore pairings?
Well, please continue with this fic.

I'm Glad if my review was able to help you out. ^^;;

Anyway, very interested in what's going to happen in your stories as usual. keep up the usual good work!

And, if you ever have the time I'd like you to review my Death Note Fan-fiction "Rise and fall of Kira", and point out any flaws it might have. I'm not the best writer in the world, but even then I try to do my best but honest reviews helps a lot in that regards. :)
