Melissa:

XD I was giggling so hard writing that Sibera/President of Pakistan bit. I'm glad that it was as amusing to everyone else as it was to me.

I love your reviews. You always make me to look and think, 'wow, I wrote that what she's quoting?' Nice one! Yes, you should go oekaki. You is pwnage, kay?

Nine Lives:

Yes, that includes Near. Can you imagine that conversation? Mello: 'Hiya Near. You know that I engineered things so that I stole MY friend away from YOUR team? Well, now I've upset her and it would all be better if you'd pause in solving all the world's ills to just come back and teach maths to a bunch of kids. Just one afternoon. What do you say, Nate? Buddy. Old friend.' -.- Then trying to talk SHY Deontic into it. Oh and then there would be, 'Ohai Century, yes, I know I'm asking you to come back to Wammy's without the whole gang of us there to stop her detaining you, but would you come and teach history to the kids please? What? Oh! Because me and Hal have had a falling out and it would make her like me again.' In fact, I was endlessly amused whilst cooking my tea imagining half of those conversations. Hal's pwned him.

Flavourite:

WOW! I don't know what to you. You've just made my eyes fill up and I'm blushing so hard. Thank you!

I'm reading through with such a smile on my face. You've made me really proud of myself, thank you. As for questions of reviews over comments, I think we're pretty much treating this one as comment territory now. Which means that AFF might smack us, but I don't know. The software comes with 'review' as standard and it's a git to mess with all the php code to turn it into 'comment', hence I think they left it like that. (It took me nearly an hour to change it elsewhere. -.-) Don't underestimate how smart you are. You sound pretty smart to me.

Research - I always squirm at this, because I don't think I do nearly as much research as people think I do. When I do, I end up fascinated by it, so it's not excruciating. Thank you for your kind words here though. I'm currently grinning so much that I'm in danger of my face falling off.

8D re Watari Pt 2. Did you read the resolution too? So far, I've found only one person who has; but I knew as I wrote it that no-one reads the small print. It did my head in to write that one, so I don't expect anyone to have read it. The rest though were fun. I could have written those meetings indefinitely, which really would have ended up boring to read. LOL Thank you for your words about them. *shivery grin*

'kay, I will. I have another chapter nearly completed, so it will turn up today. I'm away this weekend, so there will be no updates on Saturday or Sunday, possibly won't be one Friday either. But I'll be back on Monday.

AWWWWWWWWWW!!!! HAL IS SO... AWWWWW! I LOVE HER! SO SO MUCH! I mean, I've always loved her, but now I just love her all the more! Wow! Now it's time to quote things! xD hehe I leave the longest stinking reviews but I can't help it!!

Matt stood up. He had been through about five minutes of backstory to reach this point and wasn't prepared to go through it again. "Mello, do and die."

I think anyone who's ever played a video game totally can relate to this quote here. xD

"I was thinking of putting a gag on you, so we don't wake her. But waking her might be just the thing to convince her once and for all that it's not domestic violence." Mello ran his hands down Matt's back. "I'm talking loud. Really loud. See if she comes running down to save you."

Mello is a kinky bastard. XD This whole idea just makes me laugh.

Matt chewed his lip. "Or a bit cruel, considering that she fancies you."

Awwwww. D:

"Ok, so she'll be up there listening and wanking, but it would..."

*takes back the aww* Damn it, Mello, you moment ruiner.

"If you are using toys to enhance your side of the battle, I'm using some to back up mine." He desposited the statue of Mother Mary on top of his own bedside cabinet and turned to her to face the bed. From his pockets came the smaller figurines of saints, which habitually encircled her at the Marian Shrine in Mello's study.

Mello sat up to see. "Mmmm." He smiled. "Kinky."

xDDDDDD -dies laughing- This whole argument is just so ridiculous. I love them! They're so silly and kinky. xD

"Finally!" Mello leaned on the bed and stared at him. "Now he wants the boundaries conversation. I've only been trying to have it for weeks and now, right on the verge of having sex, he wants the boundaries conversation. Was it the nipple clamps?"

I. Love. You. I'm sorry, that sentence just... imagining it coming from Mello's mouth... If I had even the slightest idea of what those toys looked like, I'd make it a comic. XDDDDDD

I don't know what I'm going to do without you and your beautiful updates this weekend. I think I'll go into withdraw or something. I can feel my eye twitching already!

Ah once again.
Pure brilliance.

You know what I told you on Mangabullet. ^^ Heh.
Currently....

And, this is amazing see cause I never prompted this.
She [my girlfriend] knows I get most of my ideas from your fic. So either she can read my mind or she's been secretly reading this as well. xD

Remember what I said about the kidnapping?
Well we had Century [yes people beware, Century ish a kidnapper. o.o Ooh. Cept, he was older. >.>] Anyyyway. We had Century call up Mello with a recording he'd edited. Sounding like Matt had enjoyed it.
Mello blew, Matt ended up in the infirmary at Watari's I'll show it to you sometime.

Now he's back home and Mello won't let him do anything until he's better. xD
She's so mean. anyway.

I LOVE YOU AND YOUR STORIES! Keep it up. <3333

Hahaha I'm with Matt. When is it that Mello has time to buy sex.toys? LOL Mello in a sex-shop buying weird anal devices....priceless.
And now we have a proof of what I said. Mello and Hal are not really friends. She doesn't even know him for real, and he kept silence, so I guess he's fine with that.

I swear to God, I love your stories.
Is there any way I can get your msn?

Nine Lives:

*smirk* Inorite? However, the way I see it is that Hal needs Mello more than Mello needs her. She's in quite a vunerable position in Wammy's House and it could derail her career big time. Which doesn't mean that she is going to lie down and play dead with them. She is a brave woman, that's canon. 8D

Melissa:

Ah! Thank you for the clarification. For some reason, I thought you were Dutch, not American. LOL I've been thinking that you've been reading all of this in a second language too. Idk why AFF has cut your comment in half. It didn't actually look cut up on my screen. :p

MattKun:

I haven't got MSN. -.- However, we're all hanging out at http://mrs-jeevas.mangabullet.com/ if you want to catch up outside AFF.

Glad you're enjoying the story. 8D

Let's see if it'll cut off my review today! XD

"Ah, yes, your case." Hal sat up a little straighter. "So now that you've ascertained that I wasn't trying to kill you, note the past tense, what are you going to do?" She frowned. "In fact, what's so dangerous to you about it? Other than the fact that I'm so annoyed with you for taking it?"

HAHAHA "note the past tense"! XD Great mental image there. Though I think Halle's the toughest character on the show.

Matt replied thoughtfully, "I reckon about an hour, tops." He was chewing on the cuticles around his fingernails. "Because you'd tell me, I'd hack every government mainframe I could find in Islamabad. Sooner or later I'd find access to the President's private number, then I'd give it to you."

Oh that Matt! Contradicting little jerk! XD Mello's secret little advantage! He can do what Near's team can do, just...illegally! XD

"You'd be unlikely to have one for your phone either. If," Matt chuckled, "we should ever be in the middle of Siberia trying to contact the President of Pakistan, and Near was being an arse, then my laptop would be perfect, because after this conversation I'm going to ensure my list is on my hard-drive."

HA! XD MATT WINS!

"And what if your laptop had had a nasty accident involving being shoved up your jacksy?"

Best terminology I've ever heard. XD

"Oh. Yes. Matty, don't joke about domestic violence. That's very wrong."

No really. XD

He maintained that it tasted better in coffee than the tap water, though Matt always laughed at him and said that bottled water was tap water sold to idiots who deserved to be parted from their cash.

hahahaha It's my parents! I dunno what there deal is with bottled water, but we sure waste money on it. XD hehe

GOD I love this fic. Now I should probably go oekaki. 8D

It includes Near? woah I can't see Near giving lessins XD
For some reason, the more they talk about it, the more I doubt about their relationship being frienship at all...
Very nice. Mello's a clever bastard.

(Finally made an account here for reviewing and stuff. My lurking days are over.)

So. Yes. I've been meaning to say something since "It Matters" (and I think I have, on one occasion on LJ) but I've never actually thought I'm smart enough to write a helpful review. I still don't think I'm smart enough for that, but I hope I can manage to write something close to coherent. Without bursting into random keysmashes of joy every few words like I really want to do.

But enough about that. I'm supposed to review, right? So here goes it.

It never ceases to amaze me how far you can take Mello and Matt's relationship (and how much you can -- pardon the expression -- screw with their heads and their pasts and everything) without it becoming repetitive. And how many stories has it been now? Seven? Eight? It's amazing, at any rate, and you're an amazing writer.

Another thing you should be praised for -- and I mean PRAISED for -- is your research work. That requires infinite amounts of patience and I'm always left gawking in awe whenever I find someone who has it in them to go through with it from start to finish. Research is all fun and games in theory, but it's kind of excruciating in practice.

Also, in regards to "Watari pt. 2" -- it has to be the very first fic that had a sort of court drama feel to it that didn't make me want to scream. Really. It's amazing. So amazing that I'm tempted to think you're somehow hypnotizing your readers or something, because there's no way I'd normally sit and read through an entire chapter of legal stuff and child's rights without feeling like I'm being punished for something. I not only liked those chapters -- I loved them. Devoured them. That was genius. Matt and Mello are geniuses and you have a very special talent of making them talk and act the part. I don't think I've seen anything like this, ever. Not in the Death Note fandom, at least.

I think I'm slowly but steadily going off-topic and I'm not caffeinated enough to steer my brain back on track, so I'll end it here before things get really out of hand. One more thing before I go-go: it's amazing how many wonderful pieces of fanfiction you can write in such a short time span. Also, if anything I said so far sounded even vaguely creepy, that was not my intention. Some things just tend to sound better in my head than they do on paper. Virtual paper.

--wait, that doesn't make sense. I think I'm going to collapse for a bit now. You... write at your leisure, but update soon, okay? We're a demanding public. (:

Nine Lives:

LOL Yes, you called it. All the time I was writing it, I was thinking that this is so transparent, as Mello really would be battering the door down within the hour. The second I wrote, 'He's got until half 5', I knew I'd given the game away.

I do love Hal though, even though she did pwn Matt. She was trying to save Mello at the time though and she didn't know Matt, so there's a tad of justification there. Yes, Hal's 5ft 9" to Mello's 5ft 6" (and Matt's 5ft 5"). I used a height reference whilst writing this: http://spirit-the-titan.deviantart.com/art/DN-Height-Refs-58589977 Hal would be the same height as L and Raito in that picture. Incidentally, stuff like that is SOOOOO useful for writers. You artists have it all in your heads already, but we have to hunt through your work and hope that you were drawing realistically. For example, when Mello caught Matt's fringe too short, I had to pause writing and hunt through for someone who had drawn Matt's fringe too short. I ended up using the picture you did of them as kids, because his hair was slightly shorter and tidier then. Thanks for that. It helps fix it in my mind.

Hal as Linda? Nooooooo!

Melissa:

Glad you're enjoying it. :D I'm not sure about the freshman thing, but I do recall a group of teenagers on a forum once talking about becoming freshmen. They were the age group I was imagining Hal being at the time, so I'm hoping that I've got the terminology right. LOL The perils of a Briton trying to write about an American. *smirk* Last night, I had Miyamashi in messenger trying to determine what would be impressive in terms of history to Hal. I thought I'd start really modern - 1851? ... Ok, so an American would be impressed by 1851. Shit! What do they think when they see our Bronze Age monoliths? :o
