To the people who aren't sure what Tamaki would "know," I ran into this fic on LiveJournal, in a version gave the answer away explicitly. Which is good, because I might not have bothered figuring it out, and it's pretty darn important to the story. (And I'd have felt like some kind of Kyouya for not seeing it.) But it's also bad, because it's better when you figure it out yourself.
HINT 1: The fic is written from Kyouya's perspective. He is not a reliable narrator when it comes to people's emotions. It doesn't help that he seems to be a misogynist, quick to trivialize women's actions as simple stimulus-response.
HINT 2: That's why he only figures out what was happening, all along, at the very end.
HINT 3: Kyouya believed that he'd seduced Haruhi into a guilty affair. The sad expression in her eyes - why, that must be guilt, of course. That's what Kyouya thinks, until she says, "And he cares about you. So he’ll know."
SPOILER: (THE VERSION I SAW ON LIVEJOURNAL)
"Kyouya stared at her for another moment or two or three or five. Her words earlier… Nearly everything she’d said. How had he been so blind? She'd pitied him."

this was heart-breaking and just>>> so GOOD. although, i am still wondering what it was tamaki was supposed to know: that shes pregnant? shes had several affairs before? that kyouya loves/loved her? i've come up with to many ides to make sense >.<

OutSTANDING writing/story. I don't say that a lot to people on this site--what can I say, I'm not one to polish the egos of bad writers. I really enjoyed the depth and sophistication of this. Nicely done. ^_^
