I'm not trying to inconvenience you as I will not be reviewing "the Silent Place". Instead I'd like to share my thoughts on "Choices" which I finished reading last night.
I think the ending was profoundly depressing. Perhaps if I'd payed more attention to your notes at the end of each chapter I could have seen it coming. I still haven't read your in between comments so I can't be sure. Basically the story was so gripping that I didn't have the patience to read anything else so please take that as a compliment.
However, I implore you to write an alternate ending to the story because now I am left with this aching pain and emptyness that I already carried anyway, but that I find escape from by reading these wonderful stories by all these talented authors.
I was literally in the fetal position bawling my eyes out. I've tried to make peace with this and approach it rationally but I think it's important for me to tell you that I have been living my life vicariously through the plot and feelings of Mat and Mello. If you could just have them come to terms with their feelings for eachother, express them and come together, and then omit the death part, I think it would be a great expansion with opportunity for an additional challenge and valued feedback.
