See this? This is me fist pumping mentally about the progress of the story. Go Carsten! Whooo! You, KGL, are spinning an wonderful tale that may just come to a great head!May? Will. I love the expansion of the Kuroshitsuji world, building on what little the viewers had originally seen. Wonderful!

After this chapter I've finally managed to put a complement into words for you; it's something I've thought all along, but wasn't sure how to phrase. Devilish Impulses, and other stories this well written, have distinct advantages over not-so-well written romantic stories for one very important and hard-to-achieve reason: The plot is not merely a vehicle for more smut, it does not exist only to produce more chances for a sex scene. Partially as a result of that, we get the second benefit: you have managed to keep us all guessing. After reading chapter one, I never thought that Ciel would end up interacting so much with and original character much less have lost his contract with Sebastian.
And I hope you realize that by achieving this, you have done something that many writers of canon series *cough*MasashiKishimoto*cough* have not done; to maybe put this is better perspective for you --seeing as you are an Inuyasha fan-- the moment Inuyasha promised Kagome that they'd find all the Shikon jewel shards, you knew that when the story ended, they'd have found all the shards. You just knew. And that can really make things less exciting. So basically, I guess I'm saying that your little story here has maintained my (and many other people's) interest better manga goddess Rumiko Takahashi managed to. Huzzah!

Alright, I lied, you're too good to think about leaving. You've yet to turn me off of anything, and I'm sitting here at the dinner table drinking the DI soup. I was wondering how the past trauma would play out, and while I think the sexual abuse was addressed well, I'm a bit skeptical on the oak desk/sacrificial altar being an employable technique.

I would hate to see this end any time soon. More villians, more villians!

Carsten, why you no love da boi and hiz butler?

Another stunning chapter! Just to let you know, I do read each chapter every Wednesday when it comes out, but I don't often have the time or mental capacity afterwards to leave a good review until later.
And hey, I'm still here, so you haven't squicked me yet.
Also, I finally got a link and review for Devilish Impulses up on my rec list, the-cabinet.livejournal.com. I hope it conveys the love I have for this story and the respect I hold for you as an author. Oh, and that it brings you more good reviews. Keep up the excellent work!

This chapter was handled perfectly. I like how much Sebastian has been thinking of Ciel's feelings in regards to more "adult" things, and that he doesn't make fun of him or laugh at him for his "accident" after his dream. I love that their banter is still there and the fact that you've included thoughts Ciel has about where their "game" is going and if the game is even still being played. The exchange in the bath was ... delicate and extremely arousing. Ciel is very bold and shy in just the right parts, as I believe he would be for his character, so that was very well done. Congrats on another beautifully done chapter! Looking forward to reading the next update!! (:

Yup, still love this story! :D This was a really cute chapter, but I'm most curious about the same things that Ciel is: are Carsten and his former master still threats? I imagine so, although who knows? But it seems like Ciel and Sebastian aren't out of the woods yet, especially because we haven't found out the repercussions of Ciel's little accident, on himself or Sebastian, or their relationship in general.

Ciel hasn't really addressed this fully in several chapters, but it seems as though lately he's sort of abandoned his steadfast desire to die as soon as possible. His comment at the end of the previous chapter about how humans have limited time (SO SAD!) made it sound as if he was lamenting that he did not have more time to spend with Sebastian. Luckily, Sebastian's plan to get him in good with the prince will make his future brighter, but if he truly wishes to have a long-term future with Sebastian, than what will Ciel do about Lizzie? A relatively cliche problem to deal with, within the fandom, but probably because it's always going to be a dilemma. Granted, I could easily be getting ahead of myself here! There's not enough evidence to really know what will become of Ciel and his devil at this point.

Sebastian's newfound gentleness hasn't stopped him from maintaining his more playful, mocking side, which I like! I can't wait to see what these two do next! :)

Pretty good. I still feel as though you're not breaking character of Ciel, and your Sebastian is pretty dead on. I'm curious how Ciel is going to reconcile this new place Sebastian is in. What about his obligations to the rest of the world? Lizzie? The Queen (though it looks like he's being carted off that now). Side point: How will Agni react to this? He seems to have protective instincts towards the Phantomhive earl, and super sensory capabilities.

He acts wise beyond his years, as demonstrated from the last chapter, and he seems to think he's ready for what he's encountering. I'm curious about the progression of the story, and honestly, I may lose interest if it becomes all about relationships. I don't know how true to canon things can stay if they run about domesticity. I'm a plot and action sort of girl, I suppose.

Well done.

Ahh, finally we get to the 'action' that I was so worried about. And you know what, it didn't creep me out. I admit, I was kind of looking forward to guilt-ridden!Sebastian, but mature, rational Ciel was just as satisfying. Also, thank you for answering my question! I really hadn't expected that.
On that note, since you mentioned how big of a stickler you are for perfection, I recall that during the chapter when Lizzie is kidnapped, I think you state that she's a year younger than Ciel. However, in a somewhat-recent chapter of the manga, Lizzie says herself that she's a year OLDER than Ciel. I thought I'd mention this because, so far --and other than that statement-- this story might as well be canon. You're that damn convincing.
Cannot wait for next Wednesday; it is officially my favorite day of the week this summer.

Humans have so little time.... indeed, little Phantomhive, indeed.

I'm rather torn on this, whether or not it's going into the hammy "take me butler!" route, or if it's a natural progression. Of all nights for Ciel to ah, spring, this is what beholds it? Uh. I'll trust you.

I still enjoyed their banter with one another about roles and positions, and the brief mention about Ciel's father.

Did Ciel carry something with him over from the dark side? If he's able to sense energies and other little hintings...

MR got her glasses! Yay! WIll this just make her a worse maid : 3

Looking forward to it!
