Takuya's
Diary
By KellyQ
I walked in Takuya's room and looked around; the water making
a puddle on from dripping off my cloths and hair. Damn it Takuya!
Why did you have leave us! You always told me there was a reason
to fight and live on! So why did you just give up and leave us
... me! We did have our moments and I said some mean things to
you but I had no other emotions to show ... the truth is ... I
didn't want you to get close because I didn't want emotions to
weaken me.
I walked to the desk and sat down on the chair looking at a
few pieces of lose papers. That's when my curiosity took control;
I opened the front drawer to see more gamed papers. I pulled them
out and noticed that it was over due homework; homework that had
bad grads and half finished homework. I couldn't help but smile a
little. I looked down in the drawer again to see lose pencils;
some of them where broken, some of them had teeth marks in the
middle of them me making me chuckle. I pulled the desk drawer out
even more and then I saw a thick book. Reaching in I pulled it
out to notice that it was a journal of some sort.
The book was the color of his D-scanner with a picture of a
dragon on the front. The dragon was all one color, its body
curled up on a pile of what looked like dirt. My heart started to
beat faster as I opened it up and the first thing that hit me was
the picture of Takuya causing me to all most chock as tears
started to come down my cheek/p>

"What have you found?" Mrs. Kanbara asked walking
up.
"Nothing," I said closing the book up griping it to
my chest wiping the tears from my eyes, "thank you, but I
should get home ..."
********************
"Your home early," Kouichi as I walked passed him
and into our room closing the door quit loud.
I reached into my bag and pulled out Takuya's diary put it on
my bed sat down next to it took my shoes off and laid down
looking at the beautiful cover. I ... I had no idea that Takuya
would ever have one. He's not the kind of person who would do
something like this ... as far as I was concerned. He was always
the kind of person with a lot of energy, spunk, and attitude.
"What's going on?"
I turned my head and my annoying brother walks in with a
slight concern on his face as he sat down on the chair.
"So, you took off with Takuya's journal huh?"
"H --- how did you know?" I breathed my eyes wide
fear griping my heart.
"The Kanbara's called saying that they want you to return
it ..."
"And what if I don't want too!" I said glaring at
him clutching the only thing I have left of Takuya.
"Then I'll have to take it by force ... and believe me
... I will. It's against the law to take withoukingking
...."
"Youre the one to talk." I responded coldly.
"Don't be a smart ass! Now get up! Youre taking the
diary back where you found it!"
With out warning he took hold of my arm forcefully and yanked
me out of bed and drug me out of the apartment; at least it's not
raining right now.
*********************
"Thank you for bring it back ..."
"Your welcome, and I'm sorry for my brothers
actions ..."
"That's quite all right," Mrs. Kanbara bowing,
"and it's good that you came too, Kouji. I've been meaning
to talk to you in privet."
I blinked feeling my heart beating faster feeling that it was
going to relate to the book or Takuya's death. After my brother
left she closed the door and I followed her into the kitchen
where I joined her at the table; her hands on top of the book.
"Thank you for bring the book back," She said as I
can still anger that my brother would do this to me, "I just
don't think youre ready to read it yet ..."
"Why not," I asked slightly hurt feeling more anger
rise within me, "I'm Takuya's best friend! Is there
something I should not know? Is that why youre keeping me
from reading it?"
"Kouji," She said trying to calm me down with a hurt
look on her face, "try and understand ..."
"Yea! I understand that youre a b!&qu!"
That might've been a little harsh but I don't care! She had no
right to keep me from the last thing I have of Takuya.
"Kouji, please," She begged, "youre still
shocked from Takuya's death ... and when the time comes you can
read my son's diary ..."
"No! I will not calm down! I don't understand wthe
the
big secret is!"
Oh great, now I'm hyperventilating. Mrs. Kanbara just sighed
as she looked down tightening her grip on the diary then finally
looked up at me, her eyes clear and shiny taking my hand.
"Please, Kouji ... there are some things you are not
ready to know ..."
"Youre just making this up ..."
"That's not true ... and you know it. Takuya wanted you
to have the diary and some other things but not quit yet. Now do
you understand?"
I simply nodded my head as she gave me a weak smile tightening
her grip on my hand.
"Good. Now you better get home."
I nodded again and walked to the door and stopped when she
called again. I turned putting my hand on the doorknob to see her
stand at the kitchen doorway clutching Takuya's diary.
"Thank you."
"For what?" I asked with a frown.
"For being my son's best friend. You don't know how much
that means to me ..."
"Any time," I said with a smile, "I really
cared about Takuya ... he was always thfor for me even when I was
a complete ass to him ... but I did love him ..."
Oh god! I didn't say that!! I froze waiting for Mrs. Kanbara
to tell me to get out and call me names. More pain revealed in
her eyes as she walked up bent down to one knee and pulled me
close.
"That's why you have to wait to read Takuya's
diary." She whispered in my ear.
That comment got to me and it gave me a sort of hope ...
