This story was originally

Saiyuki, and all its

no money from this fiction, it’s just an entertainment piece conjured up by my
twisted little mind. That’s all.

definitely a lot of angst, violence, masturbation, bondage, rape, general sex,

A lot of boy x boy love (yaoi/shonen ai). You’ve
been warned.
=============================================================
There was a time when I was
happy. It hadn’t really been so long ago, had it? How many years? Two...
three... four... I think I lost count... or perhaps I just wish I had. For me,
sometimes it was so unbelievable, this happiness. A fantasy meant to be told to
women and children, something to brighten a hard day of housework or to get
them to more easily fall asleep. Oh, but other times it was a fantasy even I
lusted to once moear, ear, to once more obtain... to once more live within. But
those days of happiness were far over.
Now, there were only
memories. There was only red.
I could only see red. Only the blood red. Gods, it covered everything. Nothing was
left untouched. It was darker in some places, however, like my hands for
instance. Each finger, each nail, each line of palmpalm... stained a horrid,
most explicit shade of crimson. Tainted with the blood red smears that would
seem to forever haunt my existence, but I could hardly keep from staring at
those hands.
I could still see it, even
now, so many years afterward. I could still feel it, warm and sticky upon my
skin, so fresh, so new. I’d thought I’d been forgiven, that perhaps my sin was
vanquished, that I’d done enough to repent for those lives lost, those lives
destroyed. But still, the red was there, dark and warm. A
constant reminder.
Would it ever truly go away?
It was always there, that reminder. It was a memory, I suppose, of a mistake, a
flaw... of a past that couldn’t, or shouldn’t, be forgotten.
Gods, it wouldn’t leave me
alone!
The
rain drummed softly against the window panes, the only sound to break the quiet
of the small inn room. The darkness outside seemed to be trying to snake its
way past tlasslass, as if the small storm wished to grow larger, to consume
everything in its path. It failed, however, for two flickering candles pushed
back the blackness. Though, in their desperate battle, they failed to fend off
against the eerie shadows that lingered around within the room itself, dancing
on the walls, floor, and ceiling. They even swayed across furniture, such as
the small dresser, a table, and the single bed that took up barely any space in
the unusually small room.
Upon
the bed in question rested a solitary figure, hands crossed under black hair,
on his back with one knee bent up, and his eyes closed to the battle of light
versus darkness that raged so near. Hakkai’s chest rose and fell in a slow,
deliberate rhythm. He wasn’t sleeping, and he wasn’t ‘resting and relaxing’
either. Though his appearance was of a casual one, he felt more tension now
than he had when they’d battled a particularly sad case of demons just the
night before. His chest continued to rise and fall.
Damn rain...
The
rain always made it harder to be at peace. Especially at night time, when the
darkness threatened to swallow up everything around them,“Nuh-uh! I saw
you steal it from me, when you thought I wasn’t looking! Stop making stuff up,
jackass.”
Goku
stomped into the room, an angry look upon his youthful features. The candles
flickered, threatening to retreat from their battle against the darkness
surrounding them, but managed to somehow remain lit. The monkey demon scowled
hatefully back toward the other man that followed him.
“I
had my own! Why would I want to try and eat something that you put your hairy
monkey fingers on? That’s just disgusting.”
Gojyo
trailed into the room some few odd steps behind Goku, one hand holding aloft a
candle holder, the other reaching to close the door behind him. Hakkai couldn’t
help but turn his eyes away from this crimson-haired friend, closing them once
more after he heard the door click firmly in place.
“My
fingers aren’t hairy!” Goku protested loudly, turning fully to stare up at the
taller man.
In
response, Gojyo rolled his eyes, and sneered down at the youth. “Just lik “Oh, yeah! Hakkai’s here. This means I don’t have to talk to Gojyo anymore.” The
boy almost cheered, scuttling over to sit at the foot of the bed, leaning back
on his hands. “What a relief.”
Muttering
under his breath, Gojyo trailed slowly over toward the table to set the candle
he carried down upon its surface. Afterward, he moved over to stare out the
window, into the darkness the candles tried so desperately to keep at bay.
“As if you had anything good to say, anyway. The only thing you talk
about is food, you annoying monkey.”
Hakkai
sighed a little. He was used to the bickering between the two comrades so much
that, by now, it really didn’t phase him all that
much. It was just slightly tedious to have to listen to it so much in such a
confined space. Pushing himself to sit up, he swung his legs over the edge of
the bed until his bare feet connected upon the cool wood of the floor.
“Where’s
Sanzo?” He inquired, not because he was really curi but but because it was a
great opportunity for a topic change.
Goku
looked over his shoulder at Hakkai, and frowned a little. After a moment, he
cast his eyes to the side. “He’s in his room.”
“Moody bastard.” Quipped Gojyo from the window, his hands lifting slightly to make a
slip into their respective trouser pockets. “He threw one of his candles at us
when we came in to ask for more money for pig-monkey over there to get more
noodles.”
“If
you hadn’t eaten my dim sum, I wouldn’t have had to get anything else!” Goku
once more started to protest, as though he’d forgotten about his desire to not
speak with the half-breed.
There
was a snort in response, but nothing more.
Hakkai
reached up to rub the back of his neck slowly. This rain.
It was definitely affecting them all in one way or another. That in itself bothered him more than the fact they were stuck with
just candles, and only two rooms between the four of them. The absent thought
of Hakuryuu sleeping outside, albeit in the stables
nearby, gave Hakkai a small stabbing pain of guilt. Though, it wasn’t really his fault that this place didn’t allow
pets inside. He glanced toward Gojyo, toward the window.
Damn rain...
Goku
lay back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling like Hakkai had been doing only
moments before. It was again silent in the room, save for the pitter-patter of
the rain against the window, and the breathing of the three men that fidgeted
restlessly about in the flickering shadows.
After
a few minutes, the boy spoke up again. “It’ll be daytime soon. Do you think
Sanzo will let me get breakfast early, since Gojyo ate all of my dinner?”
Gojyo
fumed near the window, turning a scowl toward the monkey demon, and leaning
into his shout of, “Since when did it change from dim sum to your entire
fucking fifty plates of food?!”
Hakkai
grinned in amusement, but it hardly drowned out his sullen feelings brought on
by the rain.
Near
the creeping wee hours in the morning, when Goku had managed to slither his way
into Sanzo’s room without being hit by anything, and Gojyo had managed to
slither his way into Hakkai’s bed without any clothes on, the rain stopped.
Hakkai lay awake, his head resting on a sleeping Gojyo’s chest, listening to
the silence. The rain was gone, but he still felt ill at ease. Everything just
felt wrong to him, the town, the inn, the rain, and especially their most
recent battle with that small band of rogue demons. They seemed so sad to him,
pathetic really. Like they were only attacking the group so that they were sure
to be slaughtered.
But
in the end, no matter how many times Hakkai thought back over the brief battle,
it kept getting pushed from his mind due to thoughts of rain. He sighed. The
rain always did this to him. The rain always seemed to set the stage for his
memories to come dance upon. Like Sanzo, he was always more thoughtful, more
cranky and edgy during a rain. Thankfully, this one seemed to be gone for now,
though the sun was far from peeking through to shine brightly upon the world
once more. In fact, in barely managed to show through the thick clouds at all.
Hakkai wished silently that those clouds would just go away, but at least, he
thought with brief satisfaction, they could move on once everyone woke up.
Gojyo
shifted slightly in his sleep, drawing in a deep breath that made Hakkai lift
his head a little to look up at the red-haired man. It was no secret between
the members of the group that they’d been sleeping together for some time, but
yet it wasn’t something so openly talked about. Just like how Sanzo refused to
admit he occasionally partook of monkey flesh from time to time. Not so much a
taboo as a privacy thing. But occasionally, they’d get chances like this to
rekindle their relationship. However fleeting those moments were, Hakkai still
enjoyed them.
Sha
Gojyo, the womanizer. Hakkai grinned mischievously up at the slumbering
half-breed. Who would have guessed he was bi-sexual? The black haired man lay
his head back down upon Gojyo’s chest, one hand lifting to rest just the other
man’s hip-line. Gojyo’s breathing quickened a little, off-setting its rhythm,
and informed Hakkai that the touch didn’t go unnoticed.
“Damnit... you’re still awake?” Came
a groggy voice from near the headboard of the bed.
Hakkai
grinned a little more. “I slept a little.”
He felt a hand settle on his shoulder to give a small squeeze.
“Well,
go back to sleep then. And stop touching me like that, or I’ll be forced to
molest you while you sleep... it’s keeping me awake.”
“You
weren’t awake to begin with.” Was the only reply to the seeming threat of the
other man.
“Go
to sleep, Hakkai.” Gojyo said firmly after a moment, though as he lay there,
Hakkai didn’t feel the half-breed’s breathing return to a gentle, slumbering
rhythm.
There
was silence in the room for several minutes, before Hakkai pushed away from
Gojyo to sit up, the grin upon his face disappearing. As he thought, the
red-haired man’s eyes were half lidded, but focused on him curiously, though
tinged with a little worry. Hakkai said nothing.
“Is
this about those demons again?”
Hakkai
shook his head slowly, and gave a sigh. “I’m sure I’ll be fine after these
clouds clear up, Gojyo.”
Gojyo
lifted one brow slowly. Moving to lift himself up on his elbows, he lolled his
head to rest against his shoulder, staring sleepily at Hakkai. “You’ve got to
get over this rain fetish, Hakkai. You and Sanzo both... it’s sucking the life
out of you guys.” There was a bit of a pause, before he added, with a small
hint of amusement. “And it’s making rough sex with you very hard to accomplish
these days.”
Hakkai
couldn’t help but grin again, casting a glance over at Gojyo. “Like you ever
had a hard time with rough sex, Gojyo.”
The
red-head laughed, shifting a bit more so he could lean against the headboard
and prop his hands behind his head, the sheets they were using for covers
slipping dangerously low upon his person. “That’s true. Some people are just
born with talent, I guess.”
“And
some people are just born with perpetual perversion.”
“Touché.” Gojyo said with a smirk, one hand slipping from behind his head toward
Hakkai. He caught him hard about the shoulders, and gave a tug that pulled the
dark haired man back to him with a small flurry of covers. “You’ve woke me up
too early, Hakkai. The beast needs to be satisfied again or it’ll never go back
to sleep.”
Hakkai
rolled his eyes, leaning hard against Gojyo’s side. “I suddenly feel tired,
Gojyo.” He said with a snigger, closing his eyes. “I just can’t seem to keep my
eyes open.”
Gojyo’s
eyebrows shot up, and he looked in horror down at the top of Hakkai’s head.
“You sorry bastard, you just said you weren’t tired!”
