Disclaimer- I do not own DNAngel or any of it’s characters. It’s a sad fact of life, but true.
Author- Sada
Summary- Niwa Daisuke and Hikari Satoshi are the host bodies for a family feud that is centuries old, but what if this feud is really about something else and what happens if an accident causes the sprits in which they embody to switch hosts. Chaos.
“The brighter the Light the deeper the Dark, The colder the Air the warmer the Fire, The bitterer the Life the sweeter the Death. It‘s a Butterfly Effect. Every Negative has a positive.”
Warning! This story contains slash. Do not bash the writer for her love of the pairings or she may not want to write anymore in any of her stories. Pwha!
Also Considering that all the DNAngel Volumes were not out when I started writing this story this can be considered Slight AU, but I’ll try to keep it as in Character as I can. (After all I had only read four or five Volumes when I first started this story and own none [Thank you Mia for letting me borrow/read them!])

Chapter one
‘My Reflection Is Not My Own.’
-
“The painting of Reflection.”
Breathed Satoshi as he let his fingers slide down the side of the frame, looking at the winged bird who had one white wing and one black, One eye was silver the other was black, both staring unblinking at him, judging him. The background was a mesh of fire and ice twirling together, as if each was trying to cancel the other out of this world. The paintings signature was nestled to the bottom right, Setsu Hikari. Obviously Setsu knew of the feud between Dark and Krad, two angels who seemed to have nothing more on their mind than canceling the other out, winning over the other. Pointless really.
‘Hm, what is this my dear Satoshi, are you faltering in your pride in being my beautiful host? And my aren’t you exquisite; Like a painting perhaps? The only Hikari Art Dark can’t steal from me is you, my Pet.’
The blonde chided from the dark corner of his mind, invisible hands seemed to touch his face and neck as if the angel was standing right before him. Those ghost hands ran across his lips and through his hair, though none of the blue strands moved. Satoshi shivered at the demons touch. Yes Demon suited him better than the Angel he claimed to be.
“No. I’m neutral. I’ve always been neutral. I’ve always been your doll.”
He uttered to the night air, lights flashing outside the near by stained glass window signaled that the police were still here hoping to catch the phantom thief in which wanted to steal this painting. A quarter to midnight is what the note had said in smooth purple ink, though Satoshi had confirmed a long time ago it was neither Dark’s nor Daisuke’s handwriting, most likely Niwa Emiko’s. Glancing at his watch he sighed and leaned against the wall, shutting his eyes to rest them a moment before the dance began.
“Five, Four, Three, Two, One.”
Sure enough the alarms went off and people from outside began to shout. Indeed over the centuries this had become more like a dance, Dark would come to steal the art, Krad would try to stop him and never quite succeed.
Blue eyes snapped open as a gust of wind danced with his hair and the rustle of clothing reached his trained ears. Smirking he let those eyes travel the room till they spotted a discrepancy leaving the boy to smile even more, however hallow it was.
“Seems that things never change Dark Mousy, but mark my words I will catch you.”
The discrepancy moved and Dark appeared, face half lit by the dim light in the room. He had a grin spread delicately over his lips, wine like eyes staring at the bluenette with a mocking gaze.
“Oh but you are mistaken, Satoshi-kun.”
That name had been spoken in Daisuke’s voice throwing the Commander off guard. In a flash it seemed the dark creature had swept past the younger boy, the painting resting in his hands as he ran for the window. With a last smirk over his shoulder he jumped through the glass, colorful shards flying about the air nearly drowning his call for Wiz.
Satoshi took off to glare out the window, his eyes flashing from blue to gold, he was desperately trying to suppress the golden angel stirring to the surface, making his skin crawl with hate. As soon as he reached the window the being inside him took over his feet and hands, his body jumping through the window just as Dark had seconds before. From his thin lips came a small yelp of surprise as his emotions furled out of control momentarily by the nausea. He started to plummet to the ground, but his hair shot out in gold strands, the tearing sound of wings springing from his back sounded and the blonde angel was in flight the young commander shivering from the pain he was trying to contain in a dark corner of Krads mind, his calm emotions a thing of the past.
“You’re so weak my Beautiful Satoshi.”
Krad stated slightly disappointed in the young teens resistance, even if he enjoyed a fight, that had cost him valuable seconds in catching the Dark Angel in which he’d been pursing for centuries. In those years Krad had never quite had a host like Satoshi, never one as fragile, it was like he was ice, so cold but easily broken. Huffing he swept after the dark figure in the sky which was avoiding beams of light caused by the search lights the police had as they searched for the thief in the skies. Weaving for countless minuets the Phantom dove down between two of the tallest buildings, Krad following into the narrow crevasse able to see Dark now. He was laughing, dark hair twirling out behind him as were his black glossy wings, a few of the feathers escaping and smacking at Krad insultingly. This was such a familiar page in the book, this infuriated Krad further as he pushed to catch the violet haired angel.
The clouds, which were black and threatening to bring forth a thunderstorm, released the light of the moon from it’s cover and like water it spilled over the dark world to bathe it in the liquid like silver light. Quite suddenly the painting in which Dark carried burst into a bright light which caused the thief to look at it and nearly drop it in his surprise. Their was a voice beckoning Krad into the abyss of his mind, but he shook his head and ignored it watching with slight horror.
Dark’s wings disappeared and he fell faster changing into the little red head who was obviously not conscious, this sparked an emotion deep inside of Krad, though it wasn‘t his emotion.
‘Sleep Krad, dream once again of a lovers touch rather than this nightmare in which you are trapped in.’
The voice beckoned again, finally he succumbed to the soothing voice in which pulled him form his control though not without a fight.
“No! That dream never was!”
He screamed as Satoshi was ripped back to reality the wings having no chance to disappear as he reached out for Daisuke in an attempt to save a friend from a deadly fall to the pavement which awaited them both. Spinning around his wings disappeared and both the boys hit the ground with a sickening thud and crack, each lying unmoving in the alley way. Satoshi‘s hand was clasped lightly around Daisuke‘s, feathers fluttered down on their broken bodies. Blood spilled from their heads like halos of black and red on the dark pavement, their lips did not draw breath neither, their life was over.
The Painting of Reflections ceased glowing and then the moon which lit the alley hid itself again from the scene as each wound on the bodies slowly began to magically mend. Again a faint radiance spilled from the painting giving the two boys a ghostly glow as a tall figure appeared. Long silver hair danced about the air, strings of beads draped about the crown of it‘s head, the flowing white clothing and pale skin giving the figure an angelic look. Looking down with colorless eyes the face was revealed from the web of hair. It was a boy who looked sad as he gazed upon Satoshi and Daisuke. Gently he stooped down next to Daisuke placing his mouth over the boys in a kiss, the unmoving chest came to life again with the gesture. Then the mysterious being did the same with Satoshi. Satisfied with this, the being sat up running a hand over each boys faces sympathizing with their burdens.
“Time to eradicate the two sinful souls which reside in the innocent. I shall absorb them and become all the more able to be rid the world of that monstrosity which has stolen away my heart.”
Both boys nearly mended he knelt between them and began to chant a spell, his index fingers placed together the rest interlocked as silver light escaped the two hosts mouths and danced about in front of the being. As if angry to this disturbance, they flared red a moment then back to silver as if lying dormant again.
“Daisuke!”
A cry came forth from the silence, the silver being’s eyes flew open startled by the voice, the souls before him parted ways and settling back into the two bodies on the ground. Emiko came into view then stopped short of the silver being who sprout white wings of light and stood staring back at the woman.
“Niwa.”
He stated then looked at the two boys on the ground before turning his silver eyes to the sky which began to shed tears of water upon the land.
“Soon, your petty family feud will not matter. Just let it end Niwa, then your children can be Innocent again.”
With that he spun around, silver hair in tow as he walked off and shot upwards, wings unfurling behind him as he disappeared into the skies. Stunned momentarily she stared after the being. Was that who she thought it was. The painting lying with an empty canvas to the right confirmed the notion.
“I should have warned Dark and Daisuke.”
She murmured then remembered she was here to find the boy, she‘d been watching from a nearby building and when the angels didn‘t resurface from the maze a buildings she feared the worst. Her child was lying on the ground, red hair sprawled on the pavement, a puddle of a dark substance surrounding his head. Her heart leapt to her throat once the stench registered as blood.
“Daisuke!”
Her scream was wrought from her throat in a rough dry cry as she dropped down next to him, but once she pulled the bloodied boy into her lap, he cracked his eyes open with a delirious look in his red eyes.
“Mom. I can’t find Dark.”
He rasped and shut his eyes again to search for the dark angel in his mind.
‘Dark! Stop playing! DARK! Please, you can’t leave me!’
The boy wandered his subconscious for hours it seemed, calling for the thief, sobbing for help.
‘But it seems that he did Niwa.’
Daisuke’s eyes sprung open again realizing that he was at home in his bed. The blankets were at his feet where he’d tossed and turned in his semi-dream state. His head was splitting and throbbing with that voice, his body weak and sore.
“No. It’s my imagination. Dark isn’t gone and that isn’t- that thing.”
‘I don’t like it either, so stop whining and I’m not a thing.’
Stumbling out of the bed, he groaned as his body screamed at him in protest. It hurt to move, to breath, his lips stung, his eyes burned. What had caused him such pain? What had caused this seemingly impossible event which he was unwilling to believe.
‘Hm well we were falling and I watched my Satoshi’s soul shatter and die. He screamed you know. He cried your name, he blasphemed his love for you. He loved you, you were his weakness which caused him death in the end. I assure you he had a painful death. He broke his ribs and cracked his head, but most of all he died with a heart tainted by you. It’s your fault he died in such pain for he tried to save you, gave himself for you.’
“Go Away! Shut up!”
Staggering through the doorway to the bathroom in the hallway he tripped over his feet to stare at the mirror only to see haunting blood thirsty eyes staring back at him with a golden hue. Lashing a hand out, it struck the cold surface and shattered it though Daisuke seemed deaf and dumb to the world and could not hear it.
‘This is not happening.’
Sinking down to the floor he dropped his head in his hands Krad cackling in the back of his mind, prodding at his new living space. He could deal with this one, they didn’t give as much of a fight as the Hikari‘s due to the fact that the Niwa‘s weren‘t trained for this kind of Angel. Dark was much more compassionate towards his hosts than Krad was. He’d tare at his hosts hearts and isolate them from everyone else so that love was impossible and then have them himself, though he‘d never been as harsh on any other of the Hikari‘s like he was with his Satoshi. Darks former Tamer was a refreshing start though; More emotions to take advantage of, a pretty little boy to touch and tease, and Dark gone from this world for now. What more could a Homicidal Angel ask for?
“Damn Daisuke. Stop acting as if your best friend died. I’m still here, though their seems to be something very wrong at the moment.”
That was Dark’s voice. This made Daisuke look up through his fingers towards the voice. Leaning against the blinding porcelain of the toilet sat Satoshi, though rather than blue eyes looking at him they were wine coloured, mocking and confused at the same time.
“Satoshi-Kun? Dark-Kun?”
The red head asked. He was confused as well. His vision was swimming the pain in his head ripping him in half. The being inside him, whom was charting out all of Daisuke’s weaknesses, stopped suddenly and stared at the bluenette, a faint feeling of fear and bewilderment escaped Krad’s mask.
‘Shit.’
Was all the voice said.
“So is Krad inside you now? I could hear you yelling at someone from your room.”
“I-I Think.”
The red head stammered as Krad enclosed himself in Daisuke’s mind to hide himself, he thought his worries were over. Then a question begged at the Niwa who swallowed and ran a hand through his hair. The words the angel, if you could call something so evil an angel, in his head had spoken were still ringing in his ears. ¾
I watched my Satoshi’s soul shatter and die.¾
I assure you he had a painful death. ¾
Is Satoshi de-dead?”
His eyes were glassy with tears of incomprehension. This was all a nightmare and if he closed his eyes he’d wake up and be laughed at by Dark for his stupidity.
“No. Just calculating in the back of his mind and let me tell you, it’s a boring mind at that. I’m tired of watching him work through math problems and very ineffective ways of catching me.”
-You know Dark-san, I did catch you.-
Dark paused the cold voice making him shudder, it seemed that even without Krad the boy was quite empty sounding. Daisuke wore his heart on his sleeve and was easily hurt by mocking words, but as he’d seen for many centuries, the Hikari’s killed any chance of emotion from their children at a very young age. But their had to be something different about this boy due to the fact that it seemed he didn’t want to hurt Daisuke.
-As I see it you didn‘t catch me with any of your useless plans, You creepy bastard. How could Kraddie survive in this mind with someone so drab? Wait did I just say the word drab? Ugh.-
“Dark! What the hell did you do?!”
An aggravated voice, which wasn’t Daisuke‘s, startled him from his thoughts. Those purple eyes shot up in time to see a blonde angel tackle him and pin him to the ground, a snarl upon his murderous face.
“I didn’t do any-thing.”
Dark choked out trying to pry Krads fingers from around his throat, but the bruising grip only tightened and threatened to crush his wind pipe. Placing his hands on his opponent’s chest Dark finished transforming into his own form and let a shock of his magic sear at Krads flesh through Daisuke’s nightshirt.
Wait that’s right, Daisuke was in that body now.
He removed his hands as Krad fell back onto the tiles, clutching at his chest.
“I think we should refrain from killing each other Kraddie. After all you wouldn’t want to hurt your precious Satoshi-chan.”
With that Dark let Satoshi have the body back, violet hair turning blue, purple mocking eyes to icy cerulean. The young commander held his throat and looked at Krad accusingly, it was obvious now that the two were separated from each other that they had a different kind of relationship than Dark and Daisuke.
“Dark, I will kill you. You will pay for all the sins you have committed against the light.”
With that the growling angel retreated back into Daisuke’s mind, letting him have the body back as well.
“Daisuke!” (A/N: She yells that a lot, eh?)
Came his mothers shout as she came into the room and pointedly glared at Satoshi as she noticed the fresh scorch marks on her childs chest.
“Hikari! I want you to leave right away!”
She spat with a poisonous venom. The boy seemed to accept this and stood up with some trouble. His body was still in pain from the fall which he hardly remembers now. Why wasn’t he dead? A fall like that would kill anyone.
“Mom! Wait! Something’s happened. Dark’s inside of Satoshi-Kun and Krad-San’s in me now. I don’t know how, but it was somehow caused by a fall. Dark was the one who hurt me because Krad-San was trying to kill him…”
The boy was rambling so Emiko stopped him and as if proof those red eyes flashed gold a second.
“Oh dear.”
She uttered and looked at Satoshi who had staggered to the door, but his hand slipped and he fell to the tile where he groaned. A motherly instinct kicked in and she turned her attention to the bluenette.
“Forget what I said, Satoshi-san. We have to get both of you better. Even if Gin healed you, you’re still in pain.”
She made to help Satoshi up, but he shook his head and got to his feet on his own then brushed his hair from his face to look at the Niwa.
“Gin?”
He asked as Dark and Krad suddenly paid keen interest. Both knew that name from somewhere, just couldn‘t pin the memory.
“I’ll explain later. Can you make it to your room?”
The Hikari nodded as Emiko helped Daisuke up and walked him to his bed room, he passed out almost immediately. She cleaned the small burns on his chest and sighed.
“Maybe he’s right, Maybe this family feud isn’t important anymore.”
Even Emiko didn’t know the true reason this whole battle began, but she knew that for it to go on this many years seemed pointless now. Walking from the room she peeked into the guest room where Satoshi was staying. She was surprised to see him sitting at the desk with a pencil and paper, his bruised hands dancing over the page.
“Hikari?”
She tested while rapping on the door with her knuckles he looked up calmly then back down at the paper. He didn’t act as if he were the fourteen year old he really was, but she supposed all the Hikari acted in such a manner.
“I want to apologize for earlier.”
She started but he shook his head and looked up again.
“There is no need to apologize, after all I’m a Hikari and you are a Niwa, it’s only to be expected.”
Emiko frowned and stepped into the room coming to his side, this time he didn’t seem to notice she was there. Her gaze fell on the paper where a pencil sketch was, it was Krad with his arms around Satoshi, the angels teeth it’s sinking into the bluenettes neck. White wings were hiding most of Satoshi from view, the look in Krads eyes was possessive. The words ‘Always mine.’ were written above Krad. Emkio’s heart broke for the boy.
“Even if Krad is inside of Niwa I can still seem to hear him and feel his touch, though I know they are only faint memories. He owns me. I won’t let that happen to Niwa, he’s too innocent for Krads unholy touch.”
The young boy seemed to explain as he picked the drawing up and crushed it in his fingers throwing it across the room in a small fit of anger. It simply bounced in the corner and sat there as if innocent
“You should get in bed Satoshi-San.”
She murmured lightly. He looked up and sighed allowing her to help him from the chair and over to the bed. The woman gave a faint smile as she walked from the room switching off the light.
“Thank you.”
Satoshi whispered once he was sure she was out of earshot. Then without hesitation he let sleep take him into it’s bliss.
