AUTHOR’S NOTES | I usually put this portion at the end, but
seeing as I’ve received a few reviews already, I want to thank them for their
honest opinions and encouragement. And also, to give a brief run down of
things: this was written for the gravi_fuh_q and
15pairing communities at LiveJournal, and as much as
I adore the canon pairings (Y/S and T/R are my OTPs),
I also wanted to explore a bit with the alternative pairings; and for my part,
I’m not disappointed.

A huge thanks to my un-relenting beta readers, class=SpellE>Proycon and Quirkie—wonderful
people who took time to help me with this little story.

DISCLAIMER | Gravitation and its characters are copyright to Murakami Maki; no
infringement is intended through the publishing of this fan work. The author
profits nothing from this, as this is for his own selfish enjoyment, as well as
for the fans who appreciate it.

WARNING | This story contains lime and copious amount
of yaoi. Run away if any or both material offends
you. Otherwise, enjoy and let me know what you think!

Chasing Butterflies: A Prelude (Part One)

© keiichi, 2006

--------------------

Pain. Sweet, delicious pain.

It licked his whole being like fire, and his skin tingled at the sensation. It
all converged to a single point—to that one point that matters, which was all
he ever wanted to bring his focus on. It was the one point which blurred the
lines between forgetting and remembering, and for that single moment, it was
all he ever wanted, it was all he ever needed.

“G-gomennnnghh!!”
[1] He vaguely heard the stifled and strained apologies, slurred with groans of
desire and need, each time the body above him would move in nearly frantic
thrusts deep into his. Each time filling him, bringing him closer to the edge
he so longed to launch himself from.

Slick, hot, delicious pain. And he would meet every
thrust with almost the same brutal intensity, his own hips moving and slamming;
desperately yearning for both contact and release.

One hand clutched the leather seat in a death grip, while the other held on to
the sweaty shoulder of the boy moaning and panting above him, digging his nails
into pale flesh. He groaned. He was near—he knew they both wereclass=GramE>, he could feel that rising outburst. They were both at the
edge of sanity and soon… soon Nirvana would have to open up to them…

Gomeaaahhhhh!!!”
It was the last thing he heard before all he saw was white and he screamed his
pleasure into the blinding light, one name tumbling out of his lips.

Linglingling

Shuichi scrambled off the bed and reached out towards the nightstand to clout
at the offending object that disturbed his sleep. /Damnit./
He wouldn’t hear the end of it again if Eiri woke up.

Linglingling… Shuichi instinctively pressed
the snooze button on his alarm watch—linglingling—only
to realize that it was the phone that was making the annoying racket. class=SpellE>Linglingling

Shuichi groaned. /Ugh./ Grabbing the cordless phone off its hook, he gritted his
teeth at it before answering in a groggy, mildly irritated tone, “’Lo?”

Aniki!”
The person on the other line blared against the signal static. Shuichi pulled
the receiver away from his ear and cringed.

/What the heck?/

It took a few seconds for Shuichi’s sleep-fogged brain to register just who ‘class=SpellE>Aniki’ was and why this person was calling him by his older
brother’s name. He cleared his throat a bit before answering back, “class=SpellE>Tatsuha?”

“Shuichi! Hey sorry man, but I need to speak with Aniki!”
Tatsuha’s voice was a tad bit too energetic, even for
the boundless-pink-ball-of-energy that was Shuichi at—the singer picked up his
watch again and looked at the glowing numbers—2:14 in the morning.

He mumbled something unintelligible as he shifted on the bed to tug at his
boyfriend who miraculously, he mused, did not stir from the noise, “class=SpellE>Eiri—“ Only to find the novelist
not sleeping there beside him. There was a millisecond of panic—in trademark
Shuichi-spaz-fashion—which actually woke his senses
up more than anything, until he remembered that his boyfriend was currently
away on his book tour. Palming his forehead, he brought the phone back to his
ears, “Sorry I forgot Eiri’s not here, class=SpellE>Tatsuha. He’s still promoting his book.”

“Oh well… uhm, in that case…” was the tentative
response; suddenly the younger Uesugi sounded very
anxious. The singer furrowed his brows in suspicion just as Tatsuha
continued, “Can you drive?”

“Huh? Drive a car?” Shuichi was mindless for a while, wrapping his wits around
the question. He answered slowly, his instincts telling him that he wasn’t
going to like what was coming; why does he have a sneaky feeling where this was
leading? “Uh yea… Why?”

“Oh! I, err… I kind of got into a small stitch—“

/Bingo./ Shuichi was regretting giving in to that
question.

“—and I was wondering if Aniki—or, since he’s not
there, *you* could pick me up…?” He could just imagine Tatsuha
pouting pleadingly through the phone. It actually looked cute in Shuichi’s
mind, but only because ebony hair turned blonde and onyx eyes shifted to amber
when he imagined it.

The singer sighed in slight exasperation, but also managed to grin a little in
amusement. It has been a while since he’d felt like an older brother; Maiko
would probably have been proud, even if Eiri would most
likely reprimand him for this when he finds out. Tatsuha
must have his lucky rocket underpants right now.

“Where are you?”

TERMS | [1] Gomen – impolite use of “I’m sorry.”

AUTHOR’S NOTES 2 | This fic
was inspired two stories written by my own idol, another fanfic
writer whose works are just so wonderful and moving. Not only did it inspire
this piece, but also, it took off from that storyline (anime-verse), which
explains the slight AU-ishness of the class=SpellE>fic. If anybody’s curious, I highly recommend X-Parrot’s
“What You Wish For” and “Shining” – if you haven’t already.
