Someone had just worsened Rei Ayanami's day at the municipal pool.

She was afraid to come out of the shower

She was as nervous as she could be

Rei stared in horror and disgust at the package she held. Marked only with a Post-It note reading "Happy swimming!" in kanji, it contained an item she had eagerly awaited for the past week: her new bikini. But instead of blue, like she'd hoped, it was...

That she wore for the first time today

So in the shower, she wanted to stay

She kept looking at it stupidly until her bare butt hurt from sitting on the floor. Rei sighed and pulled the top and bottom out; she could either wear it or go in the pool as she was—stark naked. Modesty left her the former.

She was afraid to come out in the open

And so a towel around her she wore

And so she sat, bundled up on the floor

The bluehead crept to the edge of the pool and sat there, legs dangling into the water. What a conundrum. Maybe she should just go home.

"Hey," said a voice. Rei glanced in the direction of the speaker. It was none other than her dear friend, Kaworu Nagisa. Kaworu's smile disappeared at the sight of Rei, unhappily covered in a towel. "What's the matter?" he asked. When she didn't answer, he continued, "I know you're not naked under there, so what are you hiding?"

Rei mumbled and let the towel drop.

So in the towel, she wanted to stay
Kaworu eyed the bikini she wore. "So? You look lovely in it."
Rei blushed, though whether from the compliment or embarrassment, he couldn't tell. She slipped into the pool, swam to the steps and sat on the lowest one, leaving just her head above water.
Kaworu went in after her. "Aw, Rei," he said.

Rei remained still. After a few minutes, though, her skin turned almost as blue as her hair. Yet she still didn't move. Alarmed that she might stay there even if she got hypothermia, Kaworu waded over, picked Rei up, carried her out of the pool and into the hot tub nearby. He rubbed her arms and back while she shivered.

All of a sudden, Rei shouted, "I can't take it anymore! Ah!" Off went her top, and soon thereafter, her bottom, leaving her completely naked in front of the startled Kaworu.

With damp hair.

And glistening skin.
And perky nipples.
And—oh...boy.

So in the water, she wanted to stay
The high temperature, her nudity, her close proximity and his own raging hormones finally got the better of Kaworu. He leaned in and kissed her. Just a quick peck on the lips, nothing more. Rei looked at him questioningly. Her mouth slowly spread into a mischievous smile and she pulled him into another kiss.
Longer and with tongue, this time.

Rei's bikini top and bottom floated in the pool next to them. A moment later, a pair of black swim trunks landed in to join them.
