AN: This is an idea that I've had in my head for a while. I have a few chapters already typed up so depending on what the reviews say I may add more chapters. Please review!
Note: "sempre e per sempre" means "always and forever" in Italian (according to Google translate)
Chapter One: The Party
Tonight was supposed to be a night worth celebrating. For the one that should have been celebrating the most tonight was actually the worst night ever imagined.
“Hitomi dear, please come back inside. You know everyone is here to congratulate you.” Mrs. Kanzaki briefly stuck her head out the back patio door where her daughter was before going back inside.
“Coming Mom!” Slowly moving away from the porch swing Hitomi reluctantly walked back into the house where everyone else was having a good time during the party.
The noise inside the house was enough to make Hitomi want to go back outside again just to get away from everyone. She knew that she should be happy that they were celebrating her good fortune but she just couldn’t convince herself to feel that way. Hitomi practically jumped when she felt an arm suddenly drape itself over her shoulder.
“Why aren’t you celebrating Hitomi?”
Putting her hand over her racing heart Hitomi was relieved to see that it was only one of her best friends, Yukari Uchida. “Why should I? I don’t even want to go through with this!”
“Ohh… So our brave Hitomi is now terrified of the big walk!”
“Be quiet Van! I am not afraid! I just don’t want to marry him!” Crossing her arms over her chest she glared at both of her closest friends as they laughed at her pout. Even in her pout she had to discreetly look around to make sure that no one other than her two friends heard her admit that.
“Oh come on Principessa. You should be celebrating more than everyone else! Yukari’s jealous of you.”
“I am not jealous Van Fanel!”
“Yes you are. You’re jealous that Hitomi is getting married before Amano even asked you to marry him. Which he should. You’ve been dating long enough.” Van gave Yukari a roll of his eyes.
Hitomi couldn’t resist. Letting her laughter come out she smiled at her best friend. He always knew what to do to make her feel better. When Yukari left them a moment later to get them some more drinks Hitomi turned to Van seriously.
“You’ll be there? Won’t you?” The sound of panic and fear couldn’t be masked any longer. It almost broke Van’s heart to hear his best friend so terrified.
“Of course I will Principessa. I will always be there, sempre e per sempre.” Hitomi was shocked to see Van look so serious. “No matter what I will always be there. Whenever you need me I’ll drop everything.”
“Oh Van!” Throwing her arms around his neck Hitomi hugged her best friend close to her. “You have no idea how much having you there means to me.”
“Nothing could keep me away.” With his arms wrapped around her comfortingly Van wondered if she really realized just how important to him she was.
