Author’s Note: Here it is, the sequel to Crossed! I know, I
said I was going to go on vacation … So I lied … I couldn’t help myself … I
ended up writing it because I’d been waiting a long time to get to this fic …
For those of you who haven’t read Crossed, I suggested you do that before
continuing on. Otherwise, you will be totally confused by this fic. This is
Crossed’s sequel. This is basically an AU and about a totally different Luffy
and Nami. This fic is all about D. However, he won’t be referred to as D in
this fic, seeing as the original Nami isn’t hear to refer to him as such. He is
just Luffy here. XP I hope all of those um … details as for as what’s to be
featured in this fic didn’t scare any of you away! XP Anyways, hope you all
enjoy! Please review! I want to know your thoughts! Thanks and ja! x)
From The
Darkness
Chapter 1: First Glance
A small boy walked down the street, just barely dodging the
many people that walked around the town. He looked up at them, but couldn’t
make out their faces. Some seemed to
smile at him. Others only gave him a small glance. He clutched at his tiny
hands as he frowned, looking all around him. He thought someone may have said
something to him, but he ignored the words he didn’t really hear and continued
on.
He started to become a little frantic as he spun around a
few times to look all around him. More words that only seemed like a buzz in
his ears were spoken. He continued on, tears forming in his eyes as his little
heart began to pound. His small lips contorted as he whimpered, looking around
at all the faceless bodies. Looking at them only seemed to cause him more fear.
When he felt a hand on his shoulder, he jerked away and began to run. He tried
to speak, but no words would come out.
Looking around at everyone, the small boy just continued to
run. The buzz was louder in his ears, but he ignored it. His search became more
frantic as he looked from side to side and behind him. He spun around again,
but only saw more faceless bodies. Turning, he began to run, rounding a corner
as he looked around. He continued on, trying to look up, but could only see
mostly legs. He weaved in and out of the forest of legs, trying his best to see
up. The tears began to spill over as his fear grew into terror.
Coming to a clearing in the road, he looked around as he
sniffled and whimpered. He brought up an arm and began to wipe away the tears.
Turning, he looked around behind him before his little eyes widened as far as
they could go. His little lips broke into a grin as he laughed, feeling
relieved. He broke into a run as he laughed, wiping frantically at his useless
tears.
xxxx
Opening his eyes slowly, Monkey “The Demon Fist” Luffy stood
on the extremely high platform. They were going to lynch him. They had subdued
his ability so that he wouldn’t be able to stretch out of it. He hadn’t been
surprised when they had sentenced him to be executed. He looked down into the
faces of the crowd as they read his sentence and convictions aloud. He had no
expression on his face. He wasn’t afraid. He looked towards his executioners.
One of them was still reading.
Scoffing, he then turned back towards the crowd. He had
murdered a lot of people, people who had claimed to be strong. Others who had
gotten in his way, some used for retaliation. Whatever the case, it was a long
list… He felt himself grin. He had proven to all of them how weak they had
actually been. He had no regrets. He was ready to die. He watched the faces of
the horrified and shocked crowd as he grinned. They probably figured he was
crazy. Maybe he was…or so he’d been told. He had done a lot of bad things. He
had hurt a lot of people. He didn’t care about any of them.
“You’re still him … I
know you have to be the sam e… You don’t have to be like this …”
‘What a load of shit …’
He thought to himself. He was nothing like those idiots. There was nothing good
about him. He didn’t care for that. So he had lost his first battle. They had
put up more of a fight than he’d first thought they would, but he should have
known better. They were him to an extent. However, that woman surprised him.
“Ke!” He exclaimed aloud in disgust.
Glancing down at the crowd below
him, he watched them lazily before he found himself inhaling sharply at a
particular face in the crowd. He lost his grin as he furrowed his brows. She
was staring right back up at him with what he was sure was concern. Continuing
to stare down at her, he couldn’t seem to remove his eyes from her, the same
orange haired woman. So, she did exist in his world after all. He relaxed his
face as he stared down into her beautiful one. Her beauty didn’t change no
matter where she was from. Her expression turned confused.
‘Probably wondering
why I keep staring at her.’ He thought to himself. She of course would
never know that he actually recognized her. He knew exactly who she was.
Apparently, she was the woman he was destined to be with regardless of the
world he was from, or at least, that’s what he’d gathered from the others like
him.
“Che …” He exclaimed in irritation.
He didn’t believe in destiny. He paved his own road.
Unfortunate that that road ended here, but nothing he wasn’t ready for. The
reading was coming to an end, which he hadn’t really been paying attention to.
Even so, he continued to stare into her face.
‘I have no regrets ……
I have … no regrets …’ He thought to himself. He furrowed his brows as he
watched her expression change. It went from confusion, to concern…and then to
sadness…His expression then mimicked her earlier confusion. From the corners of
his eyes, he could see the two marines on deck with him begin to move around.
However, he never removed his eyes from hers. ‘So, it was time …’ He thought to
himself. Then he heard them, the last words ever to be spoken to him.
“Any last words?”
He remained quiet as he stared down into her beautiful face.
He could swear he had never seen anything in his life any where near as
beautiful. ‘I have no regrets …… I have … no regrets?’ He continued to think to himself as he narrowed his
eyes. She still hadn’t removed her eyes from him either.
Suddenly, the platform under him gave way, and he plummeted
down until the rope snapped in place. He grunted from the rope burning his skin
and tightening around his neck. He couldn’t breath. He opened one eye and
searched her out again before finally spotting her. She had a hand over her
mouth and looked sad. He felt something in him. Something he wasn’t familiar
with. Did he not want her to be sad? He closed both his eyes tight as he was
being suffocated. He reopened them to see her running towards him. His eyes
widened in surprise.
‘What is she …?’
He thought.
Just as he did she plowed through marines who began to run
at her with a pole she had. She leapt up using the platform supports to propel
herself up higher. She latched onto him by wrapping her arms and legs around
him. He ground his teeth from the rope tightening more around his neck from her
added weight. She immediately reached up and cut his rope in one clean cut with
a knife she had.
They both plummeted to the ground. She reached behind him
and cut the rope, binding his hands. Instinctively, he wrapped his arms around
her, held her protectively to him, and then turned so that he would hit the
ground and not her. Crying out once they hit the ground from the sudden pain
and impact, all the air was knocked out of his lungs. As it was he didn’t have
much in there to begin with from his hanging.
Trying to sit up, he began to cough, grasping at his throat.
Opening one eye, he looked around them. They were already being surrounded. Getting
off of him, she then pulled him up and grabbed his hand, beginning to run with
him. Using his free hand, he reached up and began to remove the rope from
around his neck. He ground his teeth from the burns and then pulled his hand
from hers, but kept following her. He plowed his fists into any marine who
tried to stop them as she used her pole, ramming it into some that came towards
her.
As they ran, he stared at her back not sure what just
happened. Running into an alley way, she grabbed him and pulled him in with
her. Both were breathing heavily from the run. He was staring down into her
face in confusion. She was looking out for marines, when no one past by them,
she then looked up into his face.
“Why?”
“Because you saved me once … I couldn’t let you die like
that …” She said, her voice sounding exactly the same.
“What are you talking about?” He asked as he furrowed his
brows.
“Awhile back … you killed the one man who was making my life
as well as the lives of my village a living hell…I had been gone when you had
done it. I had come back home to find that he had been killed a long with his
followers and my village was free. My sister had shown me your bounty. She had
told me you were the one who had done it. I didn’t believe her at first. I had
heard so many stories about you. Stories were told about you to children who
had been bad. You were their nightmare. I understand you probably didn’t care
about us, but regardless…I felt I owed you. When I heard about your execution…I
had to come…”
“S-So… you’ve never
met m e… before?”
“Why should I have?”
“You said… you had
defeated anyone who was remotely strong … Did that include a fishman named
Arlong?”
He remembered her words now. He must have killed the same
man that she had been referring to.
“You would go this far? You know you will be wanted now … right?”
He asked. Why did he care?
“I understand that … I didn’t actually think you would care
about that though …”
He scowled down at her. “I don’t!”
She nodded in understanding. “I know you don’t.”
Then she pushed off the wall and past him as she continued
down the alley. She turned when he didn’t immediately follow.
“You can go on your own now. You’re free … I’ve paid my
debt.” She said as she continued on.
He looked on, but then noticed
movement from the corner of his eye. Eyes widening, he instinctively lunged
forward, reached out, and then grabbed her. Just as he leapt forward, he heard
the gunshot ring out. Crying out, he ground his teeth from the heat as he
landed on his back with her on top. He looked up into her face. She was looking
down into his in complete surprise. He had just saved her life. Then something
incredible happened. She smiled down into his face. He felt something click
inside of him. He pushed her up, getting up as well. She grabbed his hand and
began to run with him. More gunfire rang out and echoed around them.
He looked over at her as they ran with complete confusion.
What was this weird feeling? He turned toward his newly acquired wound. Since
his abilities had been subdued, he was no longer impervious to bullets. With
her hand still holding onto his, they ended up at the harbor. Marines were
everywhere, having taken serious precautions. He instinctively grabbed her and
pulled her behind him, which caused her to gasp. She had not expected him to
protect her, and he had not expected it either. However, for some reason, he
couldn’t allow any harm to come to her.
He scowled as he stared down the many marines. He needed his
abilities and he needed them now. Suddenly, there was a loud clap of thunder
above their heads. Both he and she quickly looked up to see an unnatural
formation of clouds swirling above their heads. The many marine men also looked
up at the large cloud with frowns. Lightning then began to strike the ground
around them in erratic patterns. Gasping, she looked down as a few marines were
struck down by the strong electric currents.
Not wasting any more time, he found himself grabbing her
hand and beginning to run past the confused men. He slammed his fist into a few
who were smart enough to ignore the lightning. They continued to run until she
tugged at his hand and took the lead. She ran to a small ship, releasing his
hand before jumping on board. Turning, she motioned with her hand strongly.
“Get on!” She yelled as she turned to begin setting sail.
Staring at her for awhile, he turned back to the chaos
before turning back to the ship. Hesitating for only a moment, he then quickly
jumped on board as the ship slowly began to sail away.
xxxx
The little boy sat among the bodies as he frantically looked
around. His eyes were large and panicked as he breathed heavily. Bringing up his hands, his breathing became
even heavier as well as loud as he saw all the blood that drenched them. Tears
began to spill down his cheeks as he looked around him again. Leaning down on
his hands, he began to crawl through the pool of blood and bodies all around
him. Sobs began to wrench out of him as his face reflected his pain.
He cried out when a lifeless face came into view. Sobbing
louder, he stared down into the lifeless eyes that stared right back up at him.
Finally standing, he stumbled around as he began to run. However, after awhile,
he tripped on a limb, coming face to face with another lifeless face, covered
in blood. Clenching his teeth down tightly, he sobbed louder as he sat up,
looking around at the destruction and fire all around him.
Throwing back his head, the little boy screamed at the top
of his lungs the pain and anguish he felt. When he was out of breath from the
dreadful cry, he continued to sob among the bodies, his own completely drenched
with their blood.
xxxx
Gasping loudly, Luffy blinked his eyes as he looked around
as he sat up quickly. He seemed a bit frantic, trying to remember where he was,
but he couldn’t. He looked around and realized he was in a room and in a bed.
He could feel the soft motion of a ship as it rocked to and fro. Taking a shaky
breath, he was sure it wasn’t that same little boat that he’d gotten used to
waking up to every morning. It also wasn’t the dark and damp cell he remembered
having trouble sleeping in. Throwing back the covers, he looked down to see a
damp cold towel on the floor.
Blinking, he reached down and took it. Lifting it up to his
face to see it better, he frowned before folding it up and placing it on the
small night stand. Then he looked over at his shoulder, feeling a dull pain
there. Slowly reaching up, he ran his finger tips across the bandages that
occupied the space above the injury. He vaguely remembered being shot. Huffing
a bit, he finally stood up, turned and made up the bed, and then made his way
to the door. Throwing it back, he stumbled out slightly as he looked around.
Not seeing anyone, he chose a direction and went in it.
Fortunately for him, he found himself a bathroom. Tearing
off his rags, he went to it and turned it on eagerly. He then began to scrub
away his woes as well as the months of grime that had accumulated on his greasy
skin. After he was sure he was clean, he went and grabbed his shorts, beginning
to wash those in the water that was now turning cold. Wringing them out, he put
them back on and then made his way to the sink.
Finding some toothpaste, but not a brush, he poured some
into his mouth before using his finger to rub against his teeth. He hated
feeling dirty, and no matter how much he ranted about his uncleanness, they
only seemed to laugh at him. It had
taken much will power not to break in front of them. He refused to give them
that, even if his cell was just as dirty. However, it had cost him much needed
sleep as he worked to keep his mind. Rinsing out his mouth, he slowly leaned up
to look at himself in the mirror.
His hair had gotten just a little longer. Running his hand
through it slowly, he only continued to stare at his reflection. After awhile,
he lazily blinked before tapping the glass of his reflection. Turning, he grabbed
his torn shirt and threw it in a basket before making his way out, feeling ten
times the better man than he did going in. Strolling around towards the front,
he looked around, but still saw no one. However, he could make out the scent of
food. Following it, he found himself in front of a closed door. Opening it, he
peered inside to see that same orange haired woman standing in front of the
stove.
Quickly turning to the sound of the opening door, Nami
inhaled a bit sharply, having been startled. “Oh! Oh … You’re awake …” She
said, seeming to calm a bit before turning.
Leaning against the door frame, he folded his arms before
roaming his eyes over her body. She seemed a little thinner than the other
woman, but other than that, she looked exactly the same and even had the same
length of hair. Feeling unnerved about how he seemed to only be staring at her,
her hands began to shake a bit as she cooked.
“A-Are you hungry?” She asked, hoping he didn’t hear the
slight quiver in her voice. ‘What the
hell was I thinking allowing him onto my ship?!’ She thought to herself as
she closed her eyes.
She knew absolutely nothing about this man, except for all
the horrible things she’d read about in the papers. He was a murder and a
thief. Right at that moment, in her small boat, she harbored the most dangerous
and most feared man in the world. That very same man, The Nightmare, The Demon
Fist, was right behind her, only a few feet away, and it seemed was just
staring at her back. She realized she was shaking badly. When they had been on
the island, she hadn’t been afraid of him, but now, she was terrified.
She hadn’t even realized that he hadn’t answered her
question. “Yes …”
Blinking, she turned to look at him, forgetting why he was
replying. “Y-Yes …?”
His lips slowly curved up on one side into a smirk as he
continued to stare at her, not having moved from the door frame. “Yes, I’m
hungry …” He said in a low voice.
Shuddering, she quickly turned around, her breathing having
picked up. “O-Oh! R-Right …” She said nervously, mentally kicking herself for
showing her fear.
One thing she had to admit to herself, he was a lot better
looking than any of the slight and blurred pictures they had of him and from
his bounty. Especially now that he was cleaned, and even more so with his hair
wet like it was. She had also noticed his body. That had not been in any of the pictures. He was well toned, very
well toned. She had to wonder what happened to the shirt he’d been wearing. He
was only now wearing his shorts. Licking her lips a bit, she continued to cook
before finally placing the food onto two separate plates.
Grabbing the plates, she quickly turned and set them down
onto the table. Sitting down, she lifted her fork and began to eat, not once
looking up at him. It made her nervous that he’d yet to move from his spot by
the door frame. From the corner of her eyes, she could still make out the same
position he’d been in.
“You should eat …” She said quietly.
‘What was I thinking?!
Oh God, what was I thinking?! What if he …?’ She started to think, but
forced the thought out of her mind. One thing she had to remind herself was
that the entire time this man had been on her island, not once had he harmed
any of the villagers. He took some things without paying, but only necessities,
food, some clothing, but nothing more. He didn’t take any money, nothing of
value, and didn’t even stay long. He came, took out Arlong and his crew, and
then left. At least, that’s what her sister had told her. She had also said
that no one has complained. They figured it payment for what he’d done for
them.
After awhile, he finally pushed off from the frame and
slowly made his way to her. Trying to pretend she hadn’t noticed, she continued
to force the food down her throat, even though she wasn’t even hungry. He
stopped next to the table, next to her, in which she had to try hard not to
shake as she brought another forkful of food to her mouth. Slowly reaching out
a hand, he stopped the ascent of the food to her mouth. She felt herself
shudder from his hand touching hers.
Blinking a few times rapidly, she finally forced herself to
look up at him. He was staring down at her without any expression. She watched
as he leaned down close to her face. Her breathing quickened as she had to
force herself not to shake too badly. Swallowing hard, she forced herself to
speak.
“H-How’s your wound? Does it hurt? Th-The bullet went
straight through … So, I was able to just p-patch it up … But you had lost a
lot of blood … Um … Thanks … f-for saving me … I-If you want I can drop you off
at the next island …” She stuttered quickly and nervously.
Seeming to not care that she was speaking to him, he only continued
to stare down at her. Narrowing his eyes slightly, he noticed she was different
from the other one besides just their weight. She was terrified of him, he
could smell it. She was attempting to hide her fear, but very poorly. He also
didn’t see any of the fire the other one had. Even if she had been afraid,
there was still a spark. He had to see it, that spark and that flame that
seemed to ignite his senses.
Finally releasing her hand, he pressed his palm into the
table and began to lean closer to her. Gasping, her eyes widened as she quickly
stood, hitting the table with her legs. The table jarred, causing everything on
it to clank.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” She yelled as
she quickly backed away from him, a scowl on her face.
He remained where he was, just observing her. He could see
it, that same flame that seemed to engulf her eyes and made them alive. A slow
smirk formed on his lips in satisfaction before he slowly straightened, and
then lazily turned to sit down and eat. Breathing heavily and shaking
tremendously, she only stared at him as he lazily ate, wondering what the hell
he had been trying to do. Finally relaxing, she cautiously sat back down and
slowly finished her meal. After he had cleaned off his plate completely, he sat
and just watched her eat.
Blinking a few times, she refused to look up at him as she
ate. Once she was done, she reached down to lift up her plate. However, his
hand shot out and grabbed her wrist. Gasping and crying out in some fright, she
yanked her hand out from his and backed away from him quickly. Instead of
coming for her like she’d expected, he merely lifted her plate as well as hers,
took it to the sink, and began to clean them. Blinking now in confusion, she
could only gape at him as she watched him clean everything up, including the
table, stove and pots she’d used to cook with.
After he was done, he turned to look at her. Inhaling
softly, her eyes widened as she straightened up. She had only been able to
watch him the entire time. Smirking slightly, he turned and slowly made his way
to her.
“Wh-Why … Why did you do that?” She asked, very curious.
Not bothering to answer, he only continued his slow approach
towards her. “I-I was … just asking … Y-You don’t have to answer …” She said
nervously as she began to back away from him.
She tried her hardest not to show him her fear. However, he
only kept coming, getting closer and closer. When he was right in front of her,
he leaned forward, placing his palms on either side of her head. “Wh-What are
you doing?!” She screamed, beginning to panic from his nearness.
“Did you know … that you belong to me …?”
“What are you talking about?!”
“It’s funny that you found me … seeing as you’re the woman
who I’m supposedly destined to be with …”
“She will care…I know she
will……Find her…”
It
wasn’t that he believed in destiny. However, he was still highly attracted to
this woman.
“What the hell are you talking about?! You don’t even know
who I am!”
“Oh, but I do, Nami …”
Gasping loudly, her eyes widened as her brows furrowed in
shock. “H-How … How do you … know my name?”
He chuckled as he leaned in further. “Oh I know a lot about
you …”
“You went through my stuff, didn’t you?! Is that it?!” She
said as she stared up at him with a deep frown, trying to stomp down her fear.
Chuckling again, he shook his head. Leaning further, he
finally placed his lips onto her neck. Gasping, she pulled back, slamming into
the wall as she attempted to push him away. “Aah! No! Stop! Don’t … Don’t touch
me!” She screamed in almost hysteria as she struggled, her fears coming to the
surface.
Grabbing both her wrists, he pulled them up above her head
and kept her from kicking him. Her skin seemed to set his lips on fire, which
surprised him greatly. That didn’t happen with the other woman like her. He
could already feel his desire growing to incredible heights far quicker than
the other woman.
“Please … Please …
D-Don’t … Don’t touch me …” She whispered as her complete wide eyes became wild
in her panic.
Narrowing his eyes, he pulled back to look down at her. She
seemed to no longer be there. “Please … Don’t touch me …” She continued to
repeat as she stopped struggling.
Furrowing his brows, he pulled away from her, releasing his
hold on her. She immediately fell to her knees, shaking badly, and her eyes
still wild. Narrowing his eyes further
as he stared down at her, he realized, she was not like the other one. After awhile of repeating the same thing
over and over again, her eyes hooded and closed as she fell to the ground.
Staring down at her for awhile, he then slowly lowered
himself to the ground and sat down, leaning his back against the leg of the
table. This was all too familiar to him. Something happened to this woman,
something awful. That was the only reason she’d have reacted the way she had to
his touching her. She was just like him …
A few minutes past before her eyes fluttered open. Gasping,
she quickly sat up and immediately turned to look at him. He was still staring
at her with slightly narrowed eyes. Breathing heavily and very much afraid, she
only continued to stare at him with a wide eyed frown.
“You’ve been touched …” He stated in a low voice as he
narrowed his eyes further.
“That’s none of your business!” She yelled as she scowled at
him.
Where had he heard that before? “Ah, but it is my business …
You belong to me woman …”
Scowling further as she breathed loudly in her anger, she
then quickly leaned forward. “I don’t
belong to anyone!!” She screamed in a high pitched screech. She had heard
those words far more than she would have liked.
He scoffed a bit as he smirked at her. “Oh, but fate would
say otherwise …”
Still breathing heavily, she frowned at him in confusion.
“What are you talking about?!”
“I’ve seen it …”
“What? Are you some kind of psychic?!”
Chuckling again in amusement, he shook his head as he
continued to stare at her. “Hardly … I don’t believe in destiny … even if I’ve
seen it three different times … However, I’m not stupid … I know I’m attracted
to you … The other one showed me that … and just now … You do belong to me … Whether we like that or not … You’re lucky … I
hate forcing myself on any woman … It’s not very appealing … However … I’ll get
you used to my touch woman … even if it kills me …” He said as he sat up and
leaned in close to her again with a smirk.
Gasping, she backed away from him, pressing her back into
the wall as she remained sitting on the ground. “Don’t come any closer! You’re
crazy! I don’t know what bull shit you’re trying to pull! You’re not touching
me!”
“So I’ve been told multiple times …” He replied with another
amused chuckle as his smirk widened. Then he lost his smirk completely as he
rushed at her quickly. Crying out, she slammed into the wall in alarm and
surprise from the quick movement. “I’ll get you used to my touch …” He said as
he reached out and cupped her cheek firmly, which caused her to gasp and her
eyes to widen. “Soon … I’ll have you wanting me … just as much as I want you.
I’ll have you begging me for it.”
She could only gape at him in disbelief, not being able to
say a word to him. Suddenly, he smirked again. “In case you’ve forgotten … I saved
your life … Doesn’t that mean you’ve another debt to pay?” He said as he tapped
his shoulder.
Releasing her quickly, he stood up and walked out, the door
shutting behind him. Breathing heavy, Nami remained sitting on the ground as
she stared at the closed door in confusion.
xxxx
The little boy crawled across the ground as he cried. He
used his elbows the best he could to drag his body over the tall grass. His
entire body ached and could only see out of one eye. He could feel the warm
liquid of his and their blood on his body and hands. He had tried, really
tried. However, they had failed, and it had cost them dearly.
Stopping, he lowered his head as he sobbed quietly. They
were dead, and he had been left for dead. They had given him a horrible
beating. He had honestly believed the plan would have worked, that they would
have made it out alive, but they were wrong. They had been so close, only a mile,
and they would have been out of there. They had believed in him, trusted him,
and he failed them.
Looking up, he attempted to wipe away his tears as he
continued to drag himself across the ground. It wasn’t fair … None of it was
fair … He’d been lied to. Surely he would find his way home. He had to survive
this. He had to find a way. Continuing to crawl, he came to a hill overlooking
a small town. Reaching out his little hand, he whimpered a sobbed before
passing out in the tall grass.
xxxx
As he made his way out of the kitchen, he reached up his
arms and pulled himself up to the roof of the cabin. Crawling across it, he lay
down and stared up at the sky. It had seemed like forever since the last time
he’d seen it, even if it was smoggy and dark clouds. He had been surprised at
the sky he’d seen in that other world. It had been so blue. He had enjoyed lying
on the cabin and just staring at it. He most definitely didn’t miss this dark
and gloomy sky, this dark and gloomy reminder.
He hated this place. He’d hoped to never come back here. He
never wanted to come back to this fucked up world. Narrowing his eyes, he
sighed deeply before turning over. Even if it had been a long time, he really
didn’t want to see that sky.
As soon as she could move again, Nami shakily stood up,
stumbling only slightly. Slowly making her way to the door, she cautiously
opened it and looked out. At not seeing him anywhere, she quietly made her way
to her room and quickly shut herself inside. Turning, she looked around, but he
was nowhere in the room. Sighing with relief, she moved away from the door and
walked in further. Going to her desk, she pulled open her draw and removed her
ship’s log.
It hadn’t looked like it’d been touched, nor had the marker
been removed. Opening it, she flipped through a few pages before frowning and
placing it back into the drawer. Turning, she looked around the room, however,
nothing looked to have been touched at all. Blinking, she gaped at the bed. It
had been made up perfectly. On the night stand next to the bed, the towel she’d
placed on his forehead was neatly folded on it. Frowning in confusion, she
began to slowly massage her forehead.
‘Who the hell is this
guy?’ She thought to herself.
His earlier words continued to play around in her mind. He
was definitely crazy. She had no idea what the hell he’d been talking about.
Although, one thing he had said was true. She was lucky … She was glad, and
quite honestly, grateful that he wasn’t the type to force himself on women.
However, she was still very worried about his threat to touch her. He’d told
her that he would get her used to his touch. She didn’t like any man to touch
her, not since Arlong had been in control of the island.
Shuddering, she hugged herself tightly as she closed her
eyes from the memory. She couldn’t believe he was the same man that had freed
her village. One thing she knew was he was definitely the nightmare she’d heard
him to be. Opening her eyes, she stared down at the ground. He was definitely a
mystery. Looking over at the bed, she furrowed her brows deeper in her
confusion.
“He really is a mystery …”

The little boy lay in a pile of dried grass as the ship
rocked to and fro. He curled further into himself as he clenched his eyes shut
tight. Their screams caused his body to shake violently as he jerked into a
tighter ball. He clamped his teeth tightly as a small whimper escaped his lips.
He dared to peek one eye open and look through the crack of the crates, still
nothing. He clamped his eye shut again as well as his teeth as tears formed.
Clutching at his sides so hard
that it caused him pain, he tried his hardest to ignore the noise all around
him. However, it only seemed to get worse. Whimpering again, he slapped his
hand over his mouth as he closed his eyes painfully tight. He could feel his
heart beating so hard and the anxiety driving him crazy.
His small fingers continued to
dig into his side as he hugged himself into a tighter ball, making sure his
back remained to the wall behind him. The coldness of it sent shivers up his
spine as it seemed to remind him. The tears spilled down the bridge of his nose
as he sniffled quietly. If only he could remember. If only he had made a
different choice. If only it had been him who wasn’t suffering.
‘What have I done?’
To Be Continued …
Author’s Note: How’s
that for a first chapter?! XP It’s a little shorter than I would have liked,
but it seemed fitting to end it here. I’m sure some of you may be confused, and
you probably will be for awhile. I will explain about his past in full detail
as the story progresses, so be patient, ne?! XP Anyways, give me your thoughts!
Review! XD Ja and thanks! XP
