I recently saw episode 140 of Zatch Bell (Gash Bell) And it saddened me so, I just had to write this Wonrei - Li-en drabble because in all the anime tragedies, these two really belong together.
*Sniffles* I don't know what it is that makes me cry over these two characters. Many fight over "Is he dead or alive?" I always thought a mamodo couldn’t die in the human world. It kind of leaves you guessing. It would be sadder if he's dead, because if he's just disappeared to another world, there is always a chance they can find each other again. And this is what this short fic-let is. Their chance...if they could have one.
PS: This is semi-explicit, not meant to be smut. So, if you’re looking for some hard core smut, its not here. It’s meant to be romantic lemon-lime. A tender moment between two lovers who’d been separated because of circumstances were out of their control.
Disclaimer: I do not own Zatch Bell/ Gash Bell or its characters.
Title: A Reflection of Love
A New Start
Li-en stood before the glowing mirror. On the other side lay a mass of green grass and houses that would fit in nicely on some German cuckoo clock. The Mamodo world was a strange world indeed.
It was hard to believe that Wonrei came - comes from such a land. And now, Zatch was giving him back, allowing him to live in the world he desired. A world with Li-en.
He stepped through the portal and into the light of the human world. The two lovers stared at each other, waiting for the other to respond. Li-en had her hands clasped together before her chest, crying. She went to wipe them but found that Wonrei‘s reflexes were faster. His hands cupped her cheeks, thumbs gently caressing them away.
"I'm finally home, My Love." He said, his voice soft and deep.
"Welcome home, Wonrei." She felt her heart swell and she jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I've missed you so much."
He grinned next to her ear and took a deep breath. "No more fighting...we can be together, forever."
--------------------------------
Training
Wonrei opted for morning exercises just beyond a grove of trees outside of his and Li-en's home. Obviously, that part had not changed. Even being reunited with his woman after such a long time, it was hard to break tradition. The place was as quiet as he remembered. The sound of the birds were chirping made it easy to concentrate on his routine. The tiny enclosure also and it provided privacy when he and Li-en wanted alone time.
After a set of stretches and brief meditation, he started with some sit-ups and then push-ups.
Li-en moved along the path, heading out to where Wonrei occupied his time. He counted every repetition with a deep happy sigh. All because he knew Li-en was watching and loved the sound of his voice.
He had changed very little since he'd left - with the exception of more stamina, which brought a fresh rosy color to her cheeks. Then again, he hadn't been with her that way, always taking the honorable route. A kiss here, a touch on the arm or shoulder. If there were ever men around that made intentions known. He'd wordlessly wrap an arm about her waist, enough to say 'She's mine and you can't have her'.
Her redness grew twice as deep when she pressed an index finger against her lips, remembering their last kiss. He actually growled. She'd never gotten that response before. But…that was nearly four years ago.
Shaking it off, Li-en wandered near Wonrei, leaning over far enough to make her presence known.
"Breakfast is ready," She said with a smile.
He smiled back and stood up. She picked up his towel and handed it to him. He tossed the terrycloth towel over one bare shoulder, "I'm going to shower first and I'll be right out."
The two went inside and he headed off toward the bathroom. Li-en finished setting up the table. She sat, and waited, and thought. She wondered why it was that he not made a move on her since his return. Where they incompatible that way? She'd never seen below his waist, she felt once, but it wasn‘t like she groped him. It was impossible to tell. If she were to ask, would it insult him?
She closed her eyes. 'Wonrei is male...of course he has that.' His outward appearance look almost human. He has only subtle differences - things like the lines of his eyes and the color of his hair. A person who looked in from the outside would only think Wonrei was some weird looking rocker type guy, hiding out because he's famous or something. She giggled.

Conversation over Breakfast
It was an ordinary breakfast, one consistent of hot cereal, orange juice, toast, yogurt and even more fruit. Healthy things that she knew he'd enjoy. She enjoyed them too.
Wonrei returned dressed in fresh clothes - some of the ones he‘d left behind, fluff-dried hair, and smelling of soap. She hadn’t the heart to get rid of his belongings, she kept them just in case.
Li-en poured some juice into his cup and passed it along. His fingers glided over hers with gentle ease. It felt like a flutter, but the spark of something new went up his arm. He felt his own cheeks fill with warmth and color.
'What is this feeling coming from Li-en?' he wondered. His fingers gracefully caressed hers, taking the glass. Li-en gulped back a small whimper as the warmth of his hand disappeared. Her nimble fingers returned to her spoon. She took a bite of her cereal and chewed.
A moment of silence. "So, how was the Mamodo World?"
His head hung, bangs shaded his eyes, making him unreadable. "It was...sad. There is nobody there for me - friends. But, friends could never replace the feelings I have for you," His voice was a low whisper. "I was alone for the longest time until I met up with Tia." He looked up at Li-en and his grin deepened. "She said 'Wait for Zatch to become king...I'm sure he can find a way for you to go home.'"
Li-en reached out and squeezed Wonrei's hand. "I'm happy you're hear with me. I miss our friends too, but, I need you so much."
"Reminds me," Wonrei said, getting a little excited. "I have a couple of letters that need to be sent to Kiyo, that weird Folgore guy, and Megumi."
Li-en chuckled, "We can take care of that first thing in the morning."
------------------------
An Afternoon in the Sun
The two spent the afternoon under an old oak tree near a pond just down the road from the house. They leaned into each others embrace, listening to everything around them and talking.
“What have you done since I’ve been away?” Wonrei wanted to know.
“Oh…not much. I finished school but decided not to go to college.” Li-en answered. “I was working for a small antique shop in the nearby town. I managed to save up some money - enough to buy a small building in the city, maybe.”
“Really,” Wonrei chuckled. “What do you plan on doing with it?”
“I want to teach kung fu!” She sat up and looked at Wonrei. “We should do it together…the both of us!”
“That sounds like a good idea,” Wonrei replied. “But won’t you miss it out here?”
“We can come here on the weekends…and when we save even more money, we can build a small house.”
“You’ve given this a lot of thought,” Wonrei replied. “If it makes you happy, it makes me happy.”
They stared at each other tenderly. Wonrei rested the palm of his hand against the curve of her neck, tilting her head at a flawless angle. Li-en closed her eyes, waiting. Wonrei leaned forward, touching his lips to hers. There, they sat like that, enveloped seemingly in an everlasting embrace.
-------------------------
First Night
Li-en shuffled through the bedroom. They were actually sharing the room, something they'd done many times, but there were always two beds. After he'd gone back to his homeland, she'd removed the second bed and opted for a bigger one.
"We're going to share," She said and looked toward him. Wonrei ran a hand through his hair. "I can take the couch in the other room."
She reached out and grabbed his hands. "Don't you want to share?"
He couldn't find the right words until Li-en pressed up onto the tips of her toes and kissed him innocently on the lips. She gave a reassuring smile, "It's alright my love, I trust you."
Li-en went into the bathroom first and changed. She returned dressed in red satin chemise, hoping to tempt him just a bit. He slipped by, eyeing her a little. Li-en saw the predatory glance, even if he was holding it back. That inward smile crept to her lips. It was working.
He returned a few moments later, dressed in a thin night pant that tied at the waist and shirtless. He still managed to look innocent because it was indeed a hot summer night.
She was laying atop of the blankets, stretched out and reading a book. He came over to lay beside her, growing more nervous with each step. Li-en gently laid the book down on the nightstand and dimmed the lights just enough so they could see each other.
"Good night, Wonrei."
He sat back, his back pressed to the backboard. And as he looked down at her, the provocative pose of her nimble body all stretched out like a feline. Wonrei felt as if all the words in the world were wiped away from his mind.
-----------------------------------------
Into the Abyss of Love
Wonrei looked down at her. His lips parted as if he had something to say but couldn't form the words.
"Li-en..."
"Mmm," She sighed.
His tongue felt twisted inside his mouth, twisted and dry and ostensibly gone numb. He swallowed the little lump and breathed deeply. His face had gone pale for the exception of the heat that rose to his cheeks.
"Do you want this body?" He carefully asked.
"What do you mean?" She blushed, knowing exactly what he meant.
"Do you want me to make love to you?" His voice became suddenly nervous. She felt her insides quiver like jell-O at his suggestion. He'd never said anything like that before. The conversation never came up and she wondered if he knew what it was. She wondered many times if Mamodos were capable of such an act. Now all of her wondering was put to rest. Li-en pressed her hands into the bed, stretched and deftly kissed Wonrei on the lips.
"If you're so tense about it, you don't have to." She cared for this temperate-mannered man before her and wished things would just progress naturally. She almost felt a little guilty because she tried to tempt him just a little.
"I was worried about you," Wonrei thoughtfully replied. "I thought maybe...you didn't."
"I've wanted to for a very long time," Li-en said, making it clear to him that it was indeed the right time.
Li-en soon found herself pinned beneath his body. Shyly, she looked off to the side, where their shadows mingled upon the wall. Feeling a bit brave, Wonrei dipped his head down and slowly captured her mouth with his. In that instant, their eyes closed, savoring the sweet taste of each other's lips. Her small hands went into the thickness of his hair, playing with his soft mane. The kiss intensified, becoming swept away in the moment.
Li-en leaned her head back, pressing her body to his. His skin felt as smooth as her own, but tight and very male, like raw silk pulled taut over his muscles. Wonrei grasped her hands with his, holding them down to the bed as their kiss continued. His hands were rough, calloused from working and training. The felt good against her cool skin.
The gentle rolling of lips continued, Li-en gasped, allowing his tongue to enter. He teased her, rolling his tongue against hers. Tenderly biting her lower lip, earned Wonrei a contented sigh. Releasing her hands, he wrapped his arms around her, placing his hand under her shoulders and baring her neck to his eyes.
His breath felt like licks of fire against her collar. His mouth skimmed along her pulse, across her collar bone, over her chest just above her breasts. His hands slipped down her back to the roundness of her hips. His mouth brushed over the red chemise, across the tighten peeks of her breasts. Hands gently touched the edge of her satin gown resting upon her thighs. He eased the slippery material up her body. Leaning back on his heels, he helped her remove the garment over her head.
Wonrei took a big breath and released it. His diverted eyes moved up her thighs, viewing the red bikini panties she had on. His eyes came to rounded hips and slim waist. When his view reached a pair of crossed over arms and a red blush, he almost fell from the bed.
"Do you plan on hiding them from me?"
She bit her lower lip. "It's embarrassing."
He leaned over her on all fours, his forehead scant from hers, his wisteria eyes penetrating through her cocoa stare. "You're perfect and there is no need to cover them. He leaned back and waited.
She closed her eyes and moved her arms away. Licking her lips lightly, so they didn't feel dry, she asked, "Are you disappointed?"
He did not answer with words.
A sudden surge of pleasure flared through her body. She felt his mouth tighten around her left nipple while his left hand caressed her right. Li-en cooed and opened her eyes to see exactly what he was doing to her. Her hands sank into the depths of his pale lavender hair.
She gasp for air, "Wonrei..." Tears ran from her eyes as she mew in rapture. She couldn't stop moving or feeling. She clung to him, gasping his name.
At this moment, the only thing on their mindset was to couple, to be as one. After removing the last of their clothing, they momentarily stared at each other, admiring what they saw. This was what they missed out on, the completion of their feelings.
He lay above her, staring down into her eyes. She reached and clung to him, hands pressed flat to his back. He cradled her in his arms, pressing his forearms into the bed to take off some of his weight.
He whispered next to her ear with a contented sigh, "Are you scared?"
"A little," Li-en admitted. "Be gentle."
He pressed his body to her, his erection against her core. He gave a tender thrust, testing her body for his intrusion. It was a shock to the system, feeling her exquisite body wrap so tightly around his length. He slipped deeper, coming to a impasse in her tight channel. Pressing a little harder, it felt like it snapped or broke away. Li-en winced, but the slight almost non-existent pain soon changed to liquid heat.
Li-en whimpered as that desire coursed to the depths of her heart. It wasn't nearly as bad as people led her to believe. It was rather pleasant, feeling him loving her. He was inside her, they were joined in the ultimate act of their emotions. There couldn't possibly be anything better than this.
Wonrei deeply grunted and looked out pass his half-mast eyelids, "Does it hurt?"
She grinned and whispered, "It feels," She gave a little raspy sigh, "a little strange." She looked to where they were joined and it sent a shrill of desire up her spine. She arched into him. He withdrew his hips back and slowly entered into her again, experimenting and meeting with the roll of her hips. Li-en moaned deeply and thrashed her head back against the pillows. He was moving inside her, making things seemingly explode throughout her body, touching her to the depths of her center.
It wasn’t much longer before the two were clinging and shivering. The two lovers filled with an intense white glow, as if every little diamond in the sky instantly became alive upon the black blanket of heaven.
They held each other, breathing and listening to each tiny inhale. Wonrei rested his head upon her collar, panting and staring at the curve of her neck. Li-en looked toward the ceiling, panting as heavily as he. Both still shivering from their completion.
"I love you, Wonrei..."
Wonrei rolled off her body and gathered her tired form into his arms. His deep voice rumbled delightfully, "I love you too, Li-en."
------------------------------------
The Morning After...
The two walked to the local post office- a small shack at the end of the road. They purchased some stamps for the letters Wonrei brought with him. The tiny treasures were on their way, and both Wonrei and Li-en hoped that the they would arrive to their destinations at lightning speed. They both hoped that these little notes would give their friends piece of mind.
On the way home, the two held hands and spoke about their friends. Most of all, they looked at each other knowing the only thing that could ever separate them is death, and even then, they were sure they'd find a way to conquer it, and be with each other always.
