PokéCase Closed
Character Name: Akira Edogawa
Age: 9
Description: Piercing blue eyes, crimson red hair. Short for his age. Wears glasses, and is usually found in jeans and a dress shirt.
Bio: Highly intelligent and has already beaten the Elite Four. Great strategist, but gave up his champion title to get into law enforcement. He is sarcastic and rude, but is rarely wrong about most matters. The only thing he does not understand is love and women.
Party Pokémon: Houndour, Rapidash, Eevee, Grumpig, Chononeko, Egg. (This is NOT the party he beat the Elite four with. These are merely his current favorite Pokémon.)
Character Name: Houndour
Level: 24
Bio: Houndour was abandoned by his owner when he was just a tiny puppy. He tired to make it on his own, but they left him in a blizzard. After a few days he passed out. When he woke up, Akira was taking care of him. He has been by Akira’s side ever since.
The PokéWorld is much different then the one you know. Death by the hands of a Pokémon is not uncommon, and gangs do use them to kill. There are three gangs in the city where Akira lives. Urami (the grudge), Jaakuna yami no naka (evil darkness), and Tsumibukai jiyu (sinful freedom). Akira works with Police Chief Jenny as a detective on Poké-homicide cases and Poké-hate crime.

Akira crouched low to the ground, tilting his head to the side as he stared at the body before him. He noted the slashes were all uneven with no pattern, some bigger then others, the smallest being less then an inch, the biggest being over six inches. There was quite a bit of blood, meaning that there was no struggle or argument to lead others to run into the room. No, he had been here for quite awhile before anyone noticed. Akira sighed and stood, looking around the room.
Dr. Edwards had been sitting at his desk. It looked like a hurricane had blown through the room - slashes were ripped through papers, folders, the desk, everything. Dr. Edwards was slumped over on his desk, his eyes open wide in shock. Akira pushed him back to study the slashes on his body better. His face and torso had the blunt of the damage. His arms also had cuts on them. It appeared the man lifted them up to protect his face. Akira pushed the body back over again and examined to back. There were no slash marks. The young boy stood in front of the desk, facing it, and backed up.
“I would like to question his students now. I’m looking for any student that has a Pokémon with any type of cutting moves that deal major damage.” He barked out, not bothering to look at the police chief behind him.
She looked over the teachers roster. “Hm…I see four names…no, wait…only three. Two 14 year olds, and one 13 year old.”
Akira nodded. “Bring the youngest into the crime scene.” He said, turning towards the door. “I want to see their face when they witness the body.”
The woman nodded and left the room. Moments later she bought in a boy carrying a very tiny Seedot. Instantly, his eyes went to the back of the room where the body lay. A flash of movement in the face, then he looked away. His upper lips moved up, his nose wrinkled, but then just like that it was gone. Akira only had a second to note it, literally, but he did.
“What is your name?”
The boy hugged his Seedot tightly. “Martin Andrews.”
Akira was silent for a moment, then spoke slowly, “Dr. Edwards was a great professor. He made many discovers in the evolution of Pokémon.” First, a small flash of contempt, characterized by a slight lift in his lip, then anger flashed widely, his lips narrowed, pressed tightly together, the eyebrows knitted slanted towards the nose.
“Yes.” He spoke after a moment, regaining his composure. “He was. It was a shame when I heard that this happened. I looked up to him very much.” He didn’t look sad, however. The crows feet by his eyes told the truth.
Akira held in his own smirk. “Do you know of anyone who would like to harm him?”
At this, Martin bit his lips, seeming to contemplate something. “Well…There is a boy in the class…he is always threatening to…” The young boy paused and gulped. “cut me up with his knives. He’s going to flunk out of school. Or he would have, if Dr. Edwards failed him. His name is Richard Sanders.”
The young detective nodded then waved his hand. “Ok. I’m done with him. Take him into the hall to wait.” Once the boy was escorted out of the room, Akira turned to the police chief. “Was this boy with knives on the list?” When she nodded, he spoke once more, “Bring him in.”
Unlike the first boy, this one showed no contempt, no ill will to the body. The problem was, he showed no emotions at all. Behind him slid in a young Seviper. The Pokémon too looked to be emotionless. Both seemed unfazed by the blood and gore, and Akira frowned.
'A sociopath?' He shook his head. "Do you know of anyone who would wish ill will towards the doctor?" He asked slowly, but he didn't see any micro expressions on the boy's bored, pale, face.
"He was fighting with Abby yesterday." He said with a shrug. "Didn't know what they were fighting about, but he threatened to fail her."
Akira’s frown deepened. "Would you mind if we search your room?"
Once more, the boy shrugged. "Go ahead. I didn't do anything."
Akira allowed the boy to be lead out of the room. "I want all the information you can find on both boys. Send in the last student. I presume Abby is on the list."
Jenny paused for a moment. "Are you sure you want to question her? I'm sure that a search of the boy's dorm will turn up the murder weapon. I was assuming that you thought this too."
The young boy sighed. "That is the problem with you Jenny. You assume too much. After all, you know what they say. To 'assume' is to make an 'ass' out of 'you' and 'me'."
The police chief bit her lip and nodded. Akira didn't look at her, but he knew she had contempt written clear on her face. Sometimes he wondered why she even brought him out to her cases if she was just going to undermine him. Still, she brought in the girl. Behind her trailed a police officer with an evidence bag.
"She was attempting to burn these when we found her in her dorm." He spoke, handing the bag to Akira.
Akira looked over the evidence after opening the bag. Scrapes of paper that appeared to be photographs, and a uniform shirt stained with blood. He raised his brow and looked up at Abby, who was looking at the body behind him with open disgust. "Mind explaining yourself?"
There was silence for a long time. Finally the girl started to cry. "He..." She sniffled and her Teddiursa held her hand tightly. "He was blackmailing me. He took pictures of me and told me if I didn't have sex with him, he would show everyone, and he would fail me!" She fell to her knees crying. "I came in today to do what he wanted, and I found him dead. I went through his pockets and looked for the pictures. I got blood on my shirt. Please, believe me! I didn't kill him, I swear!"
Akira let her sob for a moment before he sighed. "No, I do not think you did. Make her wait in the hall with the others." After she was taken away, he allowed the police officer who just arrived to bring forth an evidence bag. "I'm assuming this is one of Richard's knives with the victim's blood on it?" Once he got a nod he turned to Officer Jenny. "Martin's father is a dark Pokémon expert, correct?"
Jenny, who was looking through a folder, nodded. "Yes. His mother committed suicide a few years ago." She handed Akira picture of Martin's father and mother. The father was standing next to an Absol, the mother next to a Shiftry.
"Just as I thought." Akira smirked. "And his mother, before she killed herself, used to work at this school? And the father no longer trains Pokémon?" After a nod, his smirk widened. "Alright. I know who killed him. Send them back in."
The three children waded back into the room, but Akira had turned his back towards the door. He held out the evidence bag with the knife in it for them to see. "This was found in your room, Richard." He heard the boy scoff and shift his position. "It has the victim's blood on it." He could tell the boy was about to protest, but he dropped the bag onto the floor. "A sad attempt to frame you. This knife could not have caused such damage." Akira walked over to the desk and started throwing items on the ground. "Books, papers, folders, all sliced to bits." He turned around sharply. "There is a Pokémon move that I know of, very powerful it is. Baby Pokémon can't learn it. It's called Razor Wind. It could be the cause of such extreme damage." He looked at the Seedot, shaking in it's owners hands, "Now, if an expert Pokémon trainer/breeder were to breed...let's say an Absol, with a...Shiftry, then the Seedot that is born would have a great chance of learning this move early on in it's life. It could even be born with it."
"Just what are you saying!" Martin growled, clutching his Seedot to him tighter, "What motive would I have for killing Dr. Edwards?! He was my favorite teacher!"
Akira chuckled. "I do not believe you would favor a teacher that caused your family so much pain. I know that you mother committed suicide shortly after Dr. Edwards revealed his finding on his theories of Pokémon evolution. You mother was working with him, wasn't she? And when she found out he took credit for her work too, she committed suicide. Then your father, so distraught over her death, gave up everything he found joyous in life - including training his beloved dark Pokémon. You killed the Doctor, then tried to blame it on the boy who bullies you."
Suddenly, Richard leapt towards Martin, his hands closing around the boy's neck, "You tried to frame me!" He growled, intend on killing him. He was pulled off immediately and Martin was placed in handcuffs. "You bastard." Richard spat, though he did not make to attack the boy any more.
"Yeah, I killed him!" Martin suddenly cried out with tears in his eyes, "He took everything from me! Everything I loved! He deserved it and I would do it again!"
"Get him out of here!" Jenny barked out an order and her officers listened to her, taking the boy away. "Thanks for your help with this one, Akira."
The boy rolled his eyes. "That was an easy one. Give me a bit of a challenge next time." He pet his Houndour on the head. "Come on, boy. Let's go." The puppy Pokémon yawned and stretched before following it's master out of the room. "Send word when you have a challenge for me." Akira paused as he passed Richard, and placed a hand on the boy's shoulder. "I pity you. You don't feel anything do you? You merely imitate the emotions you see around you. Such a shell of an existence isn't living at all." He said quietly before he left completely.

Akira sighed as he read the paper, his Houndour laying at his feet. It had been a few days since his last case and he was bored. There wasn't much for a nine year old genius to do, however. Most of his days were spent like this. In the quiet by himself. He sighed and reached for his egg, which was sitting in a bed on the end table next to him. He rubbed it slowly before he sighed once more. "Hey, Houndour, maybe we should go to the park. Let everyone play. What do you think?"
The puppy barked happily and stood to stretch.
Akira nodded and grabbed his trainer belt and egg before heading towards the door. When he opened it, he frowned. "Hello again, Richard."
The boy looked as if he was about to knock. He dropped his hand and bit his lip. The Seviper with him nudged him with it's head. "I know," He growled down to it before retuning his eyes to Akira. "What did you mean? When you said I live a shell of an existence? I get good grades, I've never been in trouble before. I never even seen someone else’s blood until Dr. Edwards died."
Akira sighed. "I am going to the park. You can join me." He pushed passed the boy, and looked sharply to his Houndour, who wouldn't stop growling. Once the puppy noticed his look, he turned his head away, annoyed. He stopped nonetheless. They walked in silence until they reached the park. Finding a secluded area, Akira reached for his balls. "Come out guys!" He said, releasing his Pokémon. Each one came over to him and he pet them. After which, they sniffed the egg on his back, nodding in satisfaction. Once the Pokémon left to play, he sat and put the egg he had found in his lap.
"Well?" Richard said, sitting next to him and shifting awkwardly. "You gonna tell me or not?"
"I can't. This is something that cannot be explained."
There was silence, then, "Can you show me? If I stay with you for a while, will I learn?" When Richard didn't get a answer right away, he looked up at the clear blue sky. "People always act funny around me, as if they are scared. They never look me in the eyes, and they don't talk to me for too long before they run off. I just...I've always felt as if I was different. I want to know why."
Akira looked as the older boy's Seviper brushed against him in a comforting manner. "I suppose some company in my house won't hurt much." His quiet life was about to change, he could tell. He wasn't sure if this was the best thing for him to do, but he felt bad for the Seviper, who obviously cared much for her trainer.
After a moment, Richard spoke. "So, what kind of Pokémon is that?" He asked, pointing at the Choroneko.
"Neko." Akira called out, waiting until the small kitten came over to them, purring loudly. "She is a Choroneko. She is found in the Unova region. My uncle sent her as a gift." Neko tiptoed over to Richard, purring and batting playfully at his key chain. She smiled up at him and rubbed against him, then scampered off. Akira sighed at this. "She stole your chain." He pointed out.
Richard patted his legs and chuckled. "Sneaky thing."
"Yes. They love to steal from people." He looked over to his 'friend' and gave a curious look. "Why don't you...take care of this." He handed the egg to Richard, who took it cautiously.
The boy looked nervous, putting the egg in his lap. "What is it?"
"Don't know."
"Why do you want to take care of it?"
Akira shrugged, "It will teach you a few things, I think."
