Helixion: Neo Reality
Chapter One: Prologue to Rebirth
Mount Arkadi, 2095// Seas between Hoenn and Helixio
Chris 'Mirai' Excellion swore violently as the war effort took a turn for the worse. With a swish of one hand the device he held, a mechanical swords' hilt that generated the same kind of energy that pokeballs used to capture pokemon and transformed it into a thin and narrow energy blade, cut across the Rhydon before him and he listened as it grunted, resistance to the beam fading finally after several slashes, and the psychic flipped the hilt around so the blinking green symbol at the base could slam into the Rhydon's form. With a flash of white the vacuum mechanism, just like those in the pokeballs, activated and auto-transported the captured pokemon to an internal USB storage drive within. It could hold two more before reaching it's maximum capacity.
Around him Jericho Silver lead Team Helix more successfully than he had ever expected. Ryo Daikaios trio of Dragons in conjunction with the Legendararies on the field were simply too much to combat again, and no matter what the Chrono Guardians attempted they simply did not have the resources available to deal with this.
He was about to call for a strategical retreat, at least until they could regroup with the other and older Guardian groups in Kanto and Sinnoh, and then try to make a return and retaliation against the forces here. That idea went out the window when a scream rent the air and a small pokeball crashed against his head harshly, rocking Chris forward and to the ground. He could hardly believe his eyes when he reached down through the pain and found the markings along the sphere to be the same as on Dialga's pokeball.
Smiling somewhat deliriously and with a concussion in place, he released the master of time and its likewise borrowed twin, and then stepped back across the eon to a fate worse than death. He had no idea the world he was leaving behind would change so drastically in his absence, nor already how different it already was to the one he would step into and unknowingly influence. But that story has already been told, and this one is just beginning, the tale of Alexander "Lex" Pendraco, a young man far different than the Lex who is no more. Helixion has run its course; the darker and parallel Helixio has arrived.
The majestic multi toned serpent pierced the air with a howl as it hovered over the seas, the lower body whipping back and forth to slice through the currents buffeting it. Gripping the neck of the green dragon stood two trainers of varying height and look, one Professor Jake Birch of Hoenn's Littleroot Town to the left and the heir to the Pendraco Clan perched calmly on the right. Messages were relayed back and forth between the two of them via Pokétch, and while their outward appearances may have looked at ease the war of words was anything but.
The brunt of the frustration seemed to be coming from the Professor concerning the pokemon on whose shoulders they were riding. "Look, thats great you've been raising dragons since the day you were conceived in the womb, but it was my grandfather and grandmother that captured and tamed her in the first place!" his message said, managing to convey the fierceness of his stance on the matter well enough.
Alexander browsed it for a moment before nodding his head in satisfaction, and then leaning precariously into the head wind whispered into the dragon's ear. The body bucked from tail-tip to throat as a wave of brilliant orange light was gathered up and expelled from the maw far into the sky off ahead of them as a warning signal, and Professor Birch yelped as he dug his fingers further into the niche between scales to keep from going anywhere. Beside him Alexander howled in appreciation for the rush and settled back down when it was over.
"What the hell was that about?!" the next message practically screamed at the younger of the two. Alexander quickly wrote up his response. "You may have her loyalty, Jake, but the will of a dragon tamer flows back through history within my veins. She recognizes that will from the first time it challenged her long before." he answered, then "And I told the others to watch for a Hyper Beam as the signal we're almost there."
Jake leaned over and punched him hard in the shoulder, grimacing. Alexander shrugged it off and leaned back into the wind in anticipation of the battle to come, and waiting to instruct Rayquaza on what to do when they landed at Mount Arkadi in the minutes ahead.
Damion Silver watched as a stream of orange light crashed against the tower of rock and inlaid intricate runes at the top of the mountain at their backs, obliterating the gateway through which faint silver and bronze light has been glowing ever since the blood began running before it. He had to latch onto his Starraptor to avoid being crushed into a flat paste and his features flashed into an imitation of a smile as his father, Jericho Silver, was not nearly so swift in reacting. He and the other armored enforcers had been casually slaying trainer and pokemon alike that got in the way, but the whirring gears and liquid tubes throughout could do nothing against so much mass with the hundred foot acceleration added to it.
The noise alone stunned the majority of the fighters, but a few fought on without being disturbed. Ryo Daikaios and his Charizard, Garchomp, and Tyranitar ran two other foes into the ground without resistence. "Some loss, hey?" he called across the silence to Damion. The now-leader of Team Helix didn't answer him directly, instead releasing Giratina and Darkrai into the battle. Then the sun was blotted out and the battle began in earnist once more.
The first chapter concludes. For those of you no doubt scratching your heads, you would probably have needed to be a regular reader of my first story, Helixion the Chrono League, to understand the characters and such here. But if you were a reader on that story, this one will still have some alterations to the characters and stuff to keep you entertained.
4/1/2015 Update: Hiya folks. Today should have been the fifth year in a row that I update this story with a chapter. But when I look at the story, at the half-hearted phoning-it-in updates, I cannot bring myself to continue that bleak tradition of April Fools chapters. What I shall do instead is condense all of the amassed chapters to date and drive them into this opening chapter, with touch ups, down the road. I've had the far more interesting second season charted out for over eight years now. I'd really like to see this story get its feet moving. I just need to dredge the time up to write for it and all of the others! I'm frankly embarassed when I look back at the treatment I've given Neo Reality. It doesn't help that the original Helixion ate it so long ago and was nuked off the site after already suffering from a timeline/twenty-something chapter axing and revision attempt. I'll try to write more. Until then I'll seeya next time!~Ulforce.
