Macross 7 fanfic - "New Beginning"
I always thought Miria and Max were so in love and didn't like how Macross 7 had them separated. So this is set toward the end of the series with them getting back together. Love always finds a way.

Miria was working on some paperwork late one night in her office. She heard someone let into the front room and, without looking up from what she was doing, yelled at Michael, "I'm not seeing anyone else today, Michael, show them out!" She was expecting Michael's gravelly voice to answer her and was surprised when a deep smooth voice responded from in her office instead.
"Hello, Miria."
She looked up, "Max! What are you doing here?" He was out of uniform, instead wearing a button-down shirt and slacks. His long hair was pulled back into its usual ponytail and he had on his normal blue-tinted glasses. In his arms was a bouquet of flowers with something half hidden behind his back.
"Miria, are you free this evening?" He was asking politely but she could tell there was a request behind the question. As he asked he presented the flowers to her, which she took, smiling at their beauty and inhaling their scent delicately.
"As you can see, I'm still quite busy and it's already quite late to be going out or doing anything." She stared at him pointedly, waiting for him to say what he'd come there for as she laid the flowers on the desk. That's when he brought out the hand he'd been hiding. In it was a bottle of wine.
"If you can't go out, then how about a break?" He walked over to the cabinet where he knew there were glasses and pulled two out, proceeding to pour some wine in both of them. He then took them over to the coffee table in front of the sofa, then went back to her side, grasping one of her hands in his and leading her over to the sofa. Too surprised to object, Miria took the glass he offered sipping from it. The wine was good and before long they were reaching the end of the bottle, getting pretty tipsy, laughing and talking about old times.
"Miria, I've missed you." She started at that and looked at him. Max's eyes were darkened with an emotion that pulled at her memories, making her flush as if they were still newlyweds. She leaned forward, entranced by him and the wine, and pulled off his glasses, quietly laying them on the table, along with their drinking glasses. Her hands she placed on his shoulders, feeling the taut muscle under her fingertips, marveling once again at his toned and hard body. Gazing into each other's eyes, they moved closer until their lips met. It was gentle and sweet at first, but the proximity of his wife, of her scent and soft lips, had Max pressing more firmly, hands encircling her waist. It'd been too long since their last embrace and electricity danced between them as the kiss deepened. Coaxing her mouth open with his tongue, Max let his hands roam her back, from her hip up to the nape of her neck while Miria pulled the tie out of his hair, running her fingers through his long, silky hair. He pressed her to him fervently, needing desperately to feel her while she tightened her fingers in his hair in response. Neither seemed likely to back down until Max moved his hand down to caress her thigh, barely pushing the hem of her skirt up and causing Miria to gasp at the sensations it caused. Her head leaned back but Max couldn't stop kissing her. He bent his head to her neck, suckling and nibbling to the neckline of her top. Her hands pressed against the back of his head, wanting him to continue, but he pulled away. Both were panting and disheveled as they looked at each other with desire-filled eyes.
"Don't you have a bed here, my love?" She nodded silently, not willing to trust her voice. He stood up, then taking her hand and kissing it gallantly.
"Would you show it to me?" He bent low over her hand, his hair falling like silk around it, looking so much like a knight of yore. She merely stood up, pulling him behind her with the hand he still held. Upon reaching the bedroom, she shut the door and locked it, then made sure no communicators or devices were turned on so they wouldn't have interruptions. It'd been so long since they'd been together, they'd almost forgotten what it was like. Even though they loved each other, their jobs put them at odds and that had started to bleed through to their marriage. Right now they were separated but neither wanted to stay that way and the protodevlin attacks had made them remember just how much they meant to each other. Neither knew how to take the first step toward repairing their relationship but tonight seemed like it might be the breakthrough they needed.
Their bodies pressed together without hesitation, molding them together til there was no space between them and still it wasn't enough. Max's hands roamed, cupping curves and sliding underneath clothing while Miria's hands worked off her husband's shirt, smoothing over the hard planes of his chest and abdomen as they were bared. Soon their clothes littered the floor and they were pulling back the bed covers. Max laid atop his wife, taking in her delicate but strong frame with his hungry eyes. Bending his head, he placed kisses all over her blushing breasts before taking a taut nipple into his mouth, fondling the other with his hand. She arched and moaned, responding heatedly to his touch, reaching out to him. She grabbed his shoulders, scratched at his back, then threaded her fingers into his hair, holding him to her bosom as he pleasured her. Soon his hand reached between her thighs and she spread her legs at the familiar touch, her body thrumming with the desire he awoke in her.
Raising his head, he looked into her eyes as he settled between her legs. He slowly slid inside her, all the while holding her gaze until he was fully seated. He began to rock, and she with him, wrapping her legs around his waist as their pace picked up, her breasts bouncing with every thrust. Leaning down and kissing her again, he forced his tongue into her pliant mouth, swallowing her gasps. Before long, Miria tore her mouth away, crying her release, riding out the last waves of pleasure as Max reached his peak as well. Then they lay together, still for a moment, sated but tired, before he rolled off of her, pulling her to lie on top of him. She draped herself over him, completely relaxed and content. He managed to pull a sheet over them, before they fell into restful sleep.
The next morning, Max awoke first by the unfamiliar play of light in the room. Upon opening his eyes he remembered where he was and who he'd spent the night with. Looking at his still sleeping wife who had her head lying on his arm, he brushed some hair away from her face, continuing to brush her cheek with the back of his fingers, enjoying the sight of her. How long had it been since they'd been like this? Far too long, in his opinion. Soon she awoke, blinking her eyes and looking at Max with unfocused eyes. He knew when she was fully awake for she smiled slightly and kissed him sweetly, before pulling back slightly to look at him. He responded with a smile of his own before kissing her, cupping her cheek and laying her down flat on her back. He began caressing her, slipping his tongue into her mouth, her arms encircling his body, as they languidly, but thoroughly kissed. Eventually he stopped, pulling back only to bury his face in the crook of her neck, holding her close. Miria held him back, idly running her fingers through his hair in a comforting gesture.
After a moment, "I've missed you, Miria. If you're willing, can't we be a family again?" He pulled back to look down at her, waiting for her response. She looked at him seriously for a moment before placing a hand on his cheek.
Soon a smile lit up her face, "I think we can work something out." It was such a Miria-like thing to say it had Max grinning.
He pulled her up, "Let's get dressed; we're going on a date."
"But, Max, we've both got things to do. We can't just drop everything."
He looked at her with mock severity, "Miria, sometimes you have to take a break and can't you leave things be for one day? Please," he added more softly.
Looking up at him, she never had been able to resist those beautiful dark eyes of his. She smiled, "I suppose so." He embraced her then. They laughed and hugged and kissed as they got dressed, talking about where they would go and do. Today was a new beginning for their relationship and neither were going to screw it up again.
