The feelings are so complicated between the two of them. Kazehaya and Sawako genuinely don’t understand each other the way they want to. It was too awkward and too inconsistent. One couldn’t express their feelings for the other without some form of misunderstanding. She was too modest and he was too shy. Although their friends see them as perfect for each other, they cannot seem to break through the barriers that separate them. It is honestly equally as pressuring between the both of them. Just what do they have to do for one another to make the other understand?
“Aha! B-I-N-G-O!” A shout of joy echoed through the halls of the apartment complex. Joe had won a round of Bingo, and he loved every minute of it.
“I mean, it was bound to happen, Joe.” Hano explained. A few snickers from the other guys in the room escaped their mouths. It was the first game Joe had won all night.
“Hey man, that’s not cool,” Joe became disappointed. “You guys were just really lucky!” The group laughed a bit more at Joe’s misfortune.
That was how the night continued on. Kazehaya thought it’d be nice to be with just the guys for a day and proposed to Ryu to set up a game night at his house. Being one floor away from Ryu’s father’s delicious ramen shop made it the perfect place to hang out.
Ryu’s bedroom door slowly slid open as Kazehaya walked in, staring down at his cell phone. He looked pale and a bit worried. The other guys stared at him dumbfounded and confused. He walked over the guys sitting on the floor and sat himself on Ryu’s bed. From where he sat, Ryu looked at his close friend. He was worried about him.
“Hey man, are you alright?” Joe asked Kazehaya. “You missed out on my win! No wonder you’re upset!” Joe laughed to himself, backing up his ridiculous thought. But Kazehaya stood quiet.
Breaking the silence, Hano spoke out to the group. He began concluding the night since it was already getting late. Kazehaya didn’t say much to them, but he also agreed he should be heading home as well. The group began to get ready, but something bothered Kazehaya in the back of his mind.
“You guys go ahead,” he said as Hano, Joe and the others headed out of Ryu’s room. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow, I have to check my email before I head home.”
“You sure?” Joe questioned. He didn’t think much of it though. Clueless Joe. “Alright, see you tomorrow. Later, Ryu.”
Ryu waved at the group as they closed the door behind them. Kazehaya sat back down on the bed and stood quiet. Tired, Ryu wanted him to leave as soon as possible, however, he didn’t want to seem rude to his friend.
“You were gonna check your email, Shouta?” Ryu asked.
“No, Ryu,” he responded. “I need your help with something.”
“What is it?”
“Was it ok to have planned this without the girls? I mean, today was Yano’s birthday.”
“We forgot.”
“That doesn’t make it right.” Kazehaya sounded concerned. He looked down at his phone and stared at the lit screen before him. “Yoshida said we screwed up their day, but that Sawako is still having fun without us.”
Ryu looked at Kazehaya with a serious and stern look. “Is that what you’re worried about?” Ryu asked.
“What?”
“Kuronuma. Her having fun without you.” Kazehaya blushed and put his head down further. His face was flushed.
“O – of course n – not!” he said, disagreeing with Ryu. “I – it’s just, we should’ve went with them to support Yano-chan. I feel bad.”
“Don’t.” Ryu stood up from the floor and walked towards the bed. Kazehaya looked up at Ryu as he stood right in front of him. “We didn’t do anything wrong. If anything, we did them a favor. They needed time away from us, whether they wanted it or not.”
Kazehaya looked away in disappointment. “You sure?”
Ryu didn’t say anything. He wasn’t sure how to comfort Kazehaya.
“Shouta,” he called out to his best friend.
Kazehaya looked up at Ryu’s tall figure. He leaned against the wall with one hand as he looked down to Kazehaya and spoke. His black shirt was a little rugged and worn from the day; Kazehaya noticed the untidiness of it.
“What are you going to do about Kuronuma?” Ryu questioned. Kazehaya blushed again and turned his face away from Ryu.
“W – what do you mean?”
“Kuronuma. Will you confess to her?”
“Ryu, wha – what are you trying to get me to say?!” Kazehaya didn’t like being put on the spot. Even though he trusts Ryu, and even though he’s hinted to Ryu many times before that he in fact does have some feelings for Sawako, he didn’t want to say how he really felt about her. But he knew Ryu knew.
“It’s really late.” Ryu informed. Kazehaya relaxed a little, lucky to have gotten out of answering Ryu’s question about Sawako. “You should stay the night. I would walk you home, but I’m tired.”
“You sure it’s ok?” Kazehaya did feel like staying, though. He was exhausted and didn’t want to walk home either. He’s stayed over plenty of times before, having been friend with his tanned toned best friend since they first met on the baseball team during middle school.
“Yeah. I’ll get you some clothes so you can shower.”
Kazehaya smiled at his friend. He loved the way Ryu took care of him and thought about him so frequently. He nodded to him and stood up from the bed, following Ryu to his closet. Receiving a few articles of clothing, Kazehaya headed for the bathroom to freshen up for the night. Ryu handed him a towel and waited for his friend to return.
As he exited the room, Ryu began to pull off his ragged shirt. His fine and fit body was exhausted after spending such a long day with the guys. As he undressed, pulling off the beige pants he wore for the day, Ryu thought about Kazehaya and Sawako’s weird relationship. He knew that Chi and Ayane know how well they get along, but they couldn’t seem to get the two of them together. Not that Ryu really tried or anything anyway. However, he was for helping them out in any way he could try. To Ryu, Kazehaya was too nice for her. He lacked the drive their relationship needed. He understood that if Kazehaya wasn’t so timid, he’d be able to win her over through the extra pushes he needed to display to Sawako. He’s been thinking about helping Kazehaya for a while. He’s wanted to so badly, just to let Kazehaya know that he’ll always be there for him.
The door slid open and Kazehaya came walking in. It was a short and refreshing shower. Ryu watched him entering; being slightly smaller than the lean and tall Ryu, the white shirt Kazehaya wore fit him just a tad big. His sweats were also a bit loose around the waist, much to Ryu’s liking since that is how he wears his sweats. A slightly damp towel rested on his neck as he dried his dark hair a bit. His bare feet patted the soft carpeted floor as he approached the bed. He sat back down on Ryu’s bed and picked up his phone from Ryu’s nightstand. He kept staring at it.
“Hey,” Ryu called out to him. Kazehaya looked over to his friend. Having prepared for sleep, Ryu had removed his shirt revealing his lightly tanned skin. He wore snug briefs that hugged at his crotch, nicely fit, exposing the slight bulge beneath it. He liked to sleep relaxed and unencumbered. Ryu walked over to Kazehaya and laid down on the bed, his arm stretched out resting over his pillow. Kazehaya looked at his tall figure lying on the bed, one arm slung around the back of his head, rested against his forearm. Ryu stared back at Kazehaya. He wanted to help him with Sawako, he figured he owed Kazehaya that much. Kazehaya just looked at the strong and fit physique of his best friend, waiting for him to speak.
“What is it?” Kazehaya answered. Ryu rested his free hand on his stomach.
“Shouta, what will you do with Kuronuma?” Again, asking for Sawako. Why was Ryu so interested? He didn’t understand.
“Ryu, I don’t know,” Kazehaya stated. “I wish I was better than this. I want to know what I can do. How can I make her see that she is the one I want?” He looked down at the floor and away from Ryu.
“Show her,” Ryu simply demanded. “Kuronuma is as clueless as you are. She will never understand you unless you tell her up front.”
“But I can’t tell her,” Kazehaya explained.
“Then, show her.”
“How?”
Ryu looked at Kazehaya from where he laid. He didn’t look back at him, however Ryu wished he did. He wanted to look at his best friend, eye to eye, to let him understand that he was there for him in his time of need; to let him know that he wasn’t going to let Kazehaya go through it alone. He was happy to do what Kazehaya would do for him. They’ve been friends for years, almost inseparable.
“Shouta,” Ryu called out. He sat up on the bed and looked at Kazehaya as he turned to face Ryu.
“Yes?” Kazehaya smiled a little to his dear friend. He felt secured in the comfort of his house, in his room, on his bed. He liked Ryu’s dominant and masculine presence because he felt protected.
Ryu looked at Kazehaya for a brief period. He wasn’t sure how to help Kazehaya get through his troubles with Sawako. He understood he needed a way to show her how much he cared. He was willing to help him out, give him a hint and a friendly nudge in the right direction.
“I know how you can show Kuronuma,” Ryu began.
“How?”
“Close your eyes, Shouta.” Kazehaya was a little confused. He wasn’t sure what Ryu had planned to do. His heart beat a little faster at the thought of what Ryu wanted to show Kazehaya. Ryu didn’t know how else to show Kazehaya that he’ll be there no matter what.
With eyes closed, Kazehaya sat still on Ryu’s bed. Ryu looked at his figure; tall and slim, strong and kind. His eyes remained closed, and his lips looked soft and delicate. A rose’s petal. Ryu’s own heart started to race a little as he leaned forward towards Kazehaya. He stretched out his arm and placed it against Kazehaya’s cheek. In a reflex, Kazehaya shivered at the warmth of Ryu’s hand and opened his eyes. His eyes widened at the sensation. He was surprised at what Ryu had decided to do.
Their lips pressed together ever so slightly. Kazehaya, shocked, remained motionless as Ryu’s hand pulled his face closer to his. He could smell Ryu’s scent; it was sweaty from today’s baseball game, mustered, almost erotic to the nose. His bare skin was moist but felt so dry. Kazehaya began to feel the warmth of it all. Ryu’s soft lips pushed up against his, his hot and musky masculine body hovered above Kazehaya as he leaned back against Ryu’s soft bed. Kazehaya felt his passion in this moment, and began to close his eyes just as Ryu’s were. He wrapped his arms around Ryu’s neck, his hands then traveled to his side. There was a giant mesh of mixed emotions as tears began to roll down Kazehaya’s eyes. He was confused and didn’t understand what Ryu was doing. He wanted to help Kazehaya, but now Kazehaya, with eyes closed and tongue dancing inside Ryu’s hot and moist mouth, lips releasing and caressing one another in a motionless movement, felt his brotherly protection and comfort. Ryu’s love and acceptance was what Kazehaya desired at this moment.
Ryu leaned up on Kazehaya’s smaller body, spreading the younger boy’s legs just a bit to fit in between. The briefs he wore tightened as Ryu’s member grew, erected by the slight rubbing between both of the men’s waists. Ryu fiercely kissed up on Kazehaya’s neck, letting his nose wander and brush softly at his soft and refreshed skin. The smell of Ryu’s skin aroused the light skinned boy. Kazehaya’s hands traveled on Ryu’s body, smooth at his hips and playfully tugging at the elastic on his briefs. He rubbed his hands forward towards Ryu’s firm buttocks, then brought it up to Ryu’s chest to pinch at his erect nipples, allowing Ryu to let out a sincere moan of pleasure. A few drops of tears continued to roll down Kazehaya’s cheeks as Ryu began kissing and biting at the boy’s neck and ears. Kazehaya’s waist pushed up against Ryu’s as he gently grabbed Ryu by the head and passionately pressed him against his lips as they kissed. Kazehaya let out deep breaths of pleasure and love. But his mind wandered, troubled. His feelings were on a rollercoaster ride, now realizing the confusion of it all. His tears swept away as he thought about Sawako. However, his focus was brought back to his best friend, who continued smelling exactly how a man should. Ryu brought his face towards Kazehaya’s ear, softly nibbling around the bridge of his neck.
“Shouta,” Ryu whispered into Kazehaya’s ear. Kazehaya remained on the bed with eyes closed, beneath his best friend. He hugged Ryu tightly, he felt secured and safe in his tight arms. “I’ll protect you, Shouta. Please don’t cry.”
