Chapter 01: Birth of AngeGreymon
Throughout the vastness of space, existed two worlds.
The first was earth, home to the human race and many other forms of organic life. The second was best known as the Digital World, an entire world made of data and electronic information given life. The population of this planet was made up of an incredible race of creatures known as Digital Monsters, better known as the Digimon. The Digital World and earth existed parallel of each other, yet the people of earth were unaware of their opposite world for a long time. That was until the arrival of the Digidestined.
From the entire vastness of the earth, eight chosen children were transported from their world into that of the Digital World. From there, they went on an amazing adventure to save both world from destruction with the help of their Digimon partners.
One of these children is the main focus of our tale. His name was Taichi “Tai” Kamiya, bearer of the Crest of Courage and the leader of the Digidestined. During his first adventure, Tai was brash and reckless at times, but he always wanted what was best for his friends. His partner was the rookie Digimon Agumon, and together they led their friends through their trials in the Digital World. Out of all of them, Tai was the one to keep the group together. When he was sucked out of the Digital World for some time, the group fell apart, and it was only thanks to him that they were able to get back together. It was also thanks to him that they discovered that the eight child was surprisingly his sister Kari. His bravery and trust in his friends were boundless, obvious when he nearly died alongside WarGreymon during the fight with Piedmon, all to stall so that his friends, who he knew would return, could and help out.
He was trusting, but he was no fool. Years after the defeat of the Dark Masters, Tai gave the title of leadership to Davis, who he knew he could trust to protect the Digital World since his partners and the older Digidestined could not help as well. For the longest time, Tai felt utterly helpless being unable to assist the younger generation and his sister, and that was the one thing he hated more than anything. It became even worse when the Digimon Emperor captured Agumon and forced him to evolve into SkullGreymon and a virus version of MetalGreymon. Tai had long forgiven Ken about what had happened, but he still couldn’t forget what happened. After Ken’s defeat and change of heart, things seemed to finally be calming down. That was until he heard about BlackWarGreymon. He should have figured Agumon would try to befriend the dark version of his mega form, and he actually believed Agumon could have succeeded. But when that Digimon nearly killed the younger Digidestined, including his sister, he felt worse than he could have ever wanted to. He and his friends have come close to death, and deletion, many times during their adventures, but he never wanted his sister or the others to face that kind of pain.
Luckily, the BlackWarGreymon threat was quelled, but shortly after came another threat in disguise. Myotismon, one of their most dangerous enemies, had returned, and using the power of the Dark Spores and the feelings of doubt of children, came back as an even deadlier monster. BlackWarGreymon tried to prevent him from returning to the Digital World, giving his life in the process. He may have been a virus version of his partner, but Tai knew BlackWarGreymon was just the same, only had a harder time finding friends. As for MaloMyotismon, while Tai didn’t understand the full details, the younger Digidestined seemed to have been sent to another world where dreams could come true, which allowed for their Digimon to split into their multiple digivolutions. Somehow, they managed to get to the Digital World, and only the strongest evolutions remained. Then, all the Digimon and their partners from all over the earth joined together to defeat the evil monster once and for all.
It had been a year since the defeat of MaloMyotismon, and things seemed to be going okay. The Digital World was at peace, and things seemed to be moving on from then. The Digimon had to return the power they had gained form Azulongmon which meant that, with the exception of Imperialdramon and Gatomon, none of the Digimon could reach their higher forms. Even Agumon had to relinquish the power to go Mega, which Tai knew hurt his partner. His evolutions were a part of him, and losing those parts of him were painful. Tai knew how his partner felt, for he was experiencing his own problems.
18 year old Tai Kamiya was facing his own problems, all focusing on the trails of adulthood. He had graduated from high school, and now he was searching for a college. For a long time, he wanted to get a soccer scholarship and become the greatest soccer player ever, but as of late, his desire to actually even play the game grew less and less. Along with that, Tai was looking at other options. One that surprisingly interested him was politics.
Along with trying to deal with his future, Tai’s social life was becoming a bit more difficult. His friends, those he grew up with and had adventures with, were starting to pull away. Tai knew that because of their varying personalities and desires, they would eventually go in different directions of what they would do with their lives. However, it seemed as if they were purposely trying to get away from them. Many times Tai had tried to get them to join together, but each time they would say they were too busy. Even his sister was pulling away, and the only time they ever called to him was when they needed help with something. Tai never minded though, he loved helping his friends. They meant to world to him. However, it was becoming increasingly harder trying to be the link between them. It became so hard, that sometimes Tai needed to get away from it all. And his destination was none other than the Digital World.
And that is where we find Tai Kamiya now.
Under the bright sun of the Digital World, Tai rested against a large tree in the shade. The tree rested just a few feet from a small lake. This was Tai’s special spot to rest and think whenever things in the real world got too hectic. Sometimes, he would come with Agumon or even another one of the partner Digimon. Other times he’d, like right now, he’d prefer to stay alone.
Tai took a deep breath as he stared at the clear digital sky. Despite all the things that were changing in his world, amazingly things in the Digital World had remained unchanged since the defeat of MaloMyotismon. Sure, there was a lot of rebuilding being done, most of which he had a key part in, but the Digital World for the most part remained unchanged. Despite all the dangers, Tai, for some odd reason, always felt safer in the Digital World than in his own.
“Oh hello Tai,” greeted a small digimon that flew down.
Tai looked to his side and smiled. “Hey Patamon,” Tai greeted. Now, this wasn’t the same Patamon that was partnered with TK. This one, first off, was a female, obvious by the purple bow on her right ear. Actually, it was Tai that gave her that bow.
Tai found her when she was just a Tokomon, lost and alone. For a short time, Tai took care of her until she was able to digivolve on her own. None of his friends of course knew this since none of them even knew about Tai’s small travels into the Digital World. He had made many great friends on his short travels, all of which seemed to really enjoy it whenever he visited.
“So what are you doing here Tai? Where’s Agumon?” the female Patamon asked.
“Oh, he’s off somewhere with the others,” Tai replied. He had sent Agumon off to be with the other partners since he was not exactly having the best of days. “I just came by to clear my head is all.”
“More problems in the human world?” Patamon asked as she sat atop Tai’s nest of wild hair.
“Right on the head Pata,” Tai replied, closing his eyes. Patamon said no more, knowing that Tai had no interest to continue that conversation.
The two rested quietly under the tree’s shade, letting the sounds of the air blow through. As they did, Tai let his thoughts of his friends flow through.
His sister Kari had always been the most precious thing to him, and for the longest time, was the only person she ever trusted. She would always turn to him when she needed help and always turned to him when she was scared. Even when she got older and he couldn’t watch out for her, she still came to him whenever she was in trouble. She loved him to death, and vice versa. However, as of late, Kari seemed to be needing his help less and less. As much as he hated to admit it, his sister was growing up. She had grown into a beautiful young woman that clearly no longer needed her older brother to protect her. And even if she couldn’t protect herself, Gatomon was always there. When she regained her tail ring, she regained the ability to go into Ultimate all on her own without Azulongmon’s power or that of the crests. Those two were inseparable, and both seemed to be needed Tai for less and less.
Then there was Matt. Despite all the problems they faced, Tai knew he could always trust in Matt to have his back, at least most times. Despite their fights, Tai always knew Matt could be trusted and just needed someone to help break that shell of loneliness he built around himself. He believed in Matt, much more than Matt believed in himself which helped blossom their friendship. However, with the recent popularity of his band, Matt started to pull away from the others once more. Sure, he kept in touch, but it was very rare. Tai was a supportive as he could be, but he could see that Matt was slowly becoming like how he was before they had become friends. The only one to ever really see him on a much friendlier basis was his partner Gabumon and ex-girlfriend Sora. Tai and Gabumon were still on friendly terms, though the coated Digimon wished Matt would see how his friend was turning out.
Sora, there was a girl Tai often felt like he could love and hate at the same time. She was his first best friend, and he was hers as well. They met when they were kids and since then they had almost become inseparable, almost. Sora had problems understanding the concept of love, which was what her crest was, but Tai knew that Sora was the perfect person for it. He helped her, along with Biyomon, discover her true self. Even after they left the Digital World, they were still great friends, but just as Tai was realizing his feelings were stronger than friendship, one of life’s curveballs hit him right in the face. Sora started dating Matt, his male best friend who had known about Tai’s feelings. Tai never said anything, for he could see the two made each other happy. That was until the whole Armageddemon incident which happened shortly after MaloMyotismon. He and Sora pulled away from each other until Matt broke it off. Tai was there to help Sora through the break up, and as much as he wanted to kiss her and tell her how he felt, he knew that it would only seem petty and out of place. Now, she was much as she was before she started dating Matt and was focusing on her own future, and once again pulling away from Tai.
The only person who seemed to at least try to stay connected with Tai was Izzy. Countless time’s Izzy’s intellect saved their hides in the Digital World and other hardships. Tai valued his friendship greatly, for if it weren’t for Izzy, none of them would have been alive. Even after the years, Izzy was still the only one who tried to hang out with Tai. Sure, he was busy preparing for college and everything, but he was the only one who still tried to make time to be with Tai. However, Tai still felt guilty. He felt as if he was taking time away from Izzy’s busy schedule. He felt as though he were a distraction. Tentomon had tried telling him he was not, that Izzy did enjoy the time they spent together, but Tai was never sure. He made sure that none of the partner Digimon would reveal how he felt to their partners, for he did not want to worry them.
This was especially hard for Palmon who wanted nothing more than to tell Mimi. After the events of MaloMyotismon, Mimi moved back with the others and had returned to living with the rest of the original Digidestined. He may have had strong feelings for Sora, but Tai could not deny Mimi was definitely a lovely girl. For a short time, he had a crush on her and was willing to ask her out, but that was until she moved away. Tai got over those feelings, but as of late he was beginning to wonder if he should at least try. Next to Izzy, Mimi was the only one who seemed to actually enjoy his company. Sure, she was busy, but she never turned down one of his offers to just hang out. Tai knew she was looking to a cooking career, and like with Izzy, he felt as if he was distracting her, not that he’d ever tell her.
As for Joe, after their adventure in the Digital World the first time, they were fairly close. Not as close as with Matt or Izzy, but still fairly. When they got older, he saw less and less of the elder male, but so did everyone else. Despite that, Tai still tried to get Joe to come over and hang out, which he would reply to being busy. Tai understood that college was tough, and it was because of that he was worried for his own future. He had tried talking to Joe about his fears, but again he was always busy. Sometimes, and Tai knew it was unintentional, Joe would yell at him for interrupting him. Gomamon tried to tell him to send him over to knock some sense into Joe, but Tai simply shrugged it off.
To him, TK was like the little brother he never had. Since he had a lot of experience with his sister, it was only natural for Tai to care for TK like a sibling even if it was hard for Matt at first. Still, TK looked up to the both of them, and it was thanks to Tai that the two finally got their brotherhood back. When TK started going with the second gen Digidestined, Tai was naturally worried, but secretly he hoped TK would watch over his little sister. He would have to be as much of a fool the others teased him to be if he didn’t see the sparks between TK and his sister. Normally, he would have gone big-brother-overprotective, but Tai knew TK and knew him to be a good kid. As of late, he wasn’t sure if TK wanted to ask his sister out, especially since this new girl appeared at school. He had spoken to Patamon about it, but the young Digimon did not know himself.
As for the second gen Digidestined, Tai really didn’t have a strong connection them with the exception of Davis. He gave Davis his goggles and watched him grow into a great leader. He was rough around the edges, much rougher than he was when he was that age, but Tai knew Davis would make a great leader. Lucky enough, Davis got over his crush on Kari and started dating another girl. Tai was happy for Davis, he deserved happiness. As for Yolie and Cody, he didn’t have as strong a relationship with. Yolie was now a lovely young lady, with an incredible pair of lungs. Cody was a bright boy who would probably end up as a lawyer. As for Ken, Tai had long forgiven him for his actions, and he had to admit some good soccer skills. All of the younger digidestined seemed alright around him, but none of them seemed to have a strong relationship with him. And with the recent recession of action, they seemed to be pulling away just as much.
Despite his wishes, Tai knew that the splitting of his friends would be inevitable. They were all growing up to live their own lives, so why was it so hard for him to let go as well?
“*sigh*… I don’t know why I bother Pata,” Tai said to the small Digimon on his head. “I mean, I should be happy for them. They’re all reaching their dreams and stuff. Why is it so hard for me to let go?”
“Because you’re their friend,” Pata replied softly. “You grew up with them and they became like family to you. And no one wants to see family leave.”
“I suppose,” Tai replied. He knew she was right. He didn’t want to lose his family. He may have been the bearer of courage, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t be afraid. Tai simply sighed, knowing that he’d never figure out the answer by staying awake. Maybe he should just slee-
“Tai! Tai!” a voice scream loudly Tai turned his head quickly, almost knocking Pata off his head. He looked to see a small red and blue Digimon known as Elecmon. This Elecmon wasn’t the same that took care of the Primary Village on File Island. Like Patamon, she was also a female, and like Patamon Tai had befriended her and given her a blue ribbon around her left ear.
“What is it Elecmon?” Tai asked, surprised by the electric Digimon’s worry.
“There’s this big Digimon attacking some baby Digimon not far from here,” the rookie exclaimed.
Tai snarled. So much for a peaceful day. “Alright, Patamon you go find Agumon. Elecmon show me where this Digimon is.”
“Right!” Patamon and Elecmon exclaimed. Pata flew off of Tai’s head to search for his partner who should not be that far off. Elecmon led Tai into the forest to find the Digimon.
Their trek didn’t last long, as the sounds of explosions and maniacal laughter came to their ears. Tai ran as fast as his feet could lead him, which was pretty fast considering his physique. He and Elecmon ran to a large clearing, and there Tai saw a Digimon he had never seen before.
The Digimon was humanoid with the exception of the large black right arm with sharp red claws. His right arms resembled a human one, as did his mouth. The top half of his face was covered in a maroon spiked red mask. The Digimon had evil golden eyes and a sinister smile that displayed several sharp teeth. He had a long ripped scarf around his neck and wore a black and yellow and red top that covered his chest and back but not his abdomen. He wore maroon colored pants held up by a black and red belt. He also had black and red shoes and a large black spike growing out of his back. in his humanoid hand was an odd looking pistol that could only be a Digimon weapon.
“Come out, come out, wherever you are little ‘mons,” the Digimon said in a sadistic voice.
Darkness Bullets
From his gun, the Digimon shot several bursts of black energy at the ground. Several small explosions went off before the final one cause several small baby Digimon to fly away. The baby Digimon were mad up of a Botamon, Punimon and one he had never seen before. It resembled a small dragon head with wings and a small foot.
“Well, well, looks like our game has come to an end,” the evil Digimon grinned darkly as he pointed his gun at the cowering Digimon.
“HEY!” Tai yelled loudly, catching the attention of the evil looking Digimon. “Leave those Digimon alone.”
“What do we have here? A little hero?” the evil Digimon said mockingly. “Wait…I know you. You’re the leader of the Digidestined aren’t you?”
Tai knew that he needed to stall time for Agumon to appear so that he could fight against this Digimon, so for now he would play along. “So what if I am?”
“I was just wantin’ to ask you a question,” the digimon said nonchalantly.
Tai cocked an eyebrow. “What?”
“Oh nothing much, just what way would like you want to die?” the Digimon said evilly as he pointed his gun at Tai.
Tai held his ground. He stood alone as Elecmon took the chance to rescue the baby Digimon. “Well, let me tell you something. I’ve had a lot of Digimon try to kill me, and I’m still living. So what makes you think you have a shot?”
The digimon smirked. “I’ll give you credit, you’re just as courageous as the rumors say. Either that or just plain stupid.”
“From what I’ve been told, it’s a combination of both,” Tai smirked back. “You know who I am apparently, but who might you be?”
“I suppose I can tell you, it will be more fun that way. The name is Roguemon,” the evil Digimon said dangerously. “Well, this talk has been fun, but I have a mission to kill you and the rest of the Digidestined. So if you don’t mind just staying still, we can get through this a lot faster.”
Darkness Bullet!
Tai rapidly dodged the attack. The years of soccer practice left him incredibly fit and fast. “Gonna have to be faster than tha-whoa!” Tai continued to run as Roguemon shot several shots of darkness.
“You know, I’m so glad you decided to make this more interesting. It’s no fun when there’s no chase,” Roguemon said with a maniacal laugh after. He continued shooting at Tai who continued to run.
As he ran, Tai felt his thoughts rush through his mind. He knew it was reckless to egg that Digimon on, but it was the only way to distract him from attacking those baby Digimon. He thought about contacting his friends for help, but he figured they wouldn’t be able to get here on time. Besides, if this Digimon was out to kill them all, he’d do everything in his power to protect his friends. He ran and dodged every shot Roguemon fired. “You know, for a Digimon that’s supposed to kill me, you’re a lousy shot!” Tai insulted as he continued to run.
“Oh believe me my boy, I’m not even trying,” Roguemon said with a smirk. “If I wanted to kill you quickly, I’d already would have. But for now I’ll enjoy the sight of watching you run around like the coward you obviously are.”
When he was younger, Tai would undoubtedly fallen for the bait. But now he knew better, and continued to run. He wasn’t running because he was afraid, he was running to stall for time. He continued to run, leading Roguemon through the forest. Tai had gone through this area many times before, knowing it like the back of his hands. He led Roguemon large forested area. He quickly hid beneath a small cave-like burrow. Roguemon entered the area, and was surprised to not see Tai anywhere.
“Well, well, hiding now are we bearer of Courage?” Roguemon said darkly as he floated through the area. He dragged his sharp red claws against the bark of trees and stone, leaving long cuts in them. “I suppose I have some time to play before I have to kill you. And once I do, your friends will be next.”
Tai kept still and silent as the evil Digimon hovered through the area, looking for him. Roguemon looked behind several trees and stones, searching for Tai. Tai knew that this wouldn’t work for long. Sooner or later, Roguemon would find him. But Tai knew he needed to stall as long as possible for Agumon to find him. Once he was there, then they could take care of that evil Digimon.
“Come out, come out wherever you are little Digidestined,” Roguemon said darkly. “I promise I won’t make your death too painful, just enough that your screams can be heard throughout the entire Digital World. I might even let you live long enough to watch me kill your friends one by one.”
“I’d like to see you try ugly!” called out another voice. Roguemon turned to see three Digimon standing together. Tai peeked from his hiding spot and saw that Agumon had arrived with Elecmon and Patamon.
“Aw, well if it isn’t three brave and foolish thinking they have a chance against me. I could use some target practice,” Roguemon said as he pointed his pistol at the trio.
“Not quite,” Tai whispered, gripping his Digivice. The screen shined bright, and shortly after Agumon was covered in a similar glow.
Agumon Digivolve to…GREYMON!!!
In a flash of light, Agumon was replaced by the massive form of the Dinosaur Digimon Greymon. Roguemon’s eyes widened in surprise for only a second before an evil smirk formed on his face. “Ah, I get it. You’re the partner of the bearer of courage.”
“Yep, and you’re in trouble now!” Greymon roared as he charged at Roguemon.
Roguemon quickly glided away from the large Digimon’s way. “You’ll need to be faster than that if you want any desire to stop me.”
Boom Bubble! PAH!
Super Thunder Strike!
Roguemon felt two attacks hit his back. He turned around and saw Patamon and Elecmon glaring angrily at him, each ready to attack once more. Roguemon simply smirked. He raised his demonic arm at them and formed a large ball of black electricity.
Shadow Electro
The black electric orb flew down at them, and they were able to dodge it, but the attack created a massive explosion, knocking them into the air. The two Digimon crashed into the nearby trees head first.
“AH!” the two female rookies cried in pain before falling to the ground.
“Patamon! Elecmon!” Tai screamed in fear for his two small friends.
“So, now you show yourself,” Roguemon said with a dark smile as he pointed his pistol at Tai.
Nova Blast!
Roguemon heard Greymon’s voice and looked behind himself. He saw the large fireball coming towards him quickly glided around it. He watched it fly away before turning to the growling Greymon. “Oh, so someone thinks they can take me eh?”
“Greymon! Keep him busy while I rescue Elecmon and Patamon!” Tai exclaimed to his partner.
“Sure thing Tai. I’ll show this newbie some moves!” Greymon roared. The Digimon charged forward, giving Tai the chance to leave his spot and run towards the two rookies.
Tai ran quickly to where the two Digimon had fallen. He picked each one into his arms. “Oh guys, you shouldn’t have come. It’s too dangerous,” Tai said sadly.
“W-We had to T-Tai,” Elecmon said weakly.
“Y-Yeah, y-you’re our f-friend,” Patamon said weakly as well. She offered a small smile, causing Tai to smile softly as well.
Shadow Electro
“AAAH!!!” Greymon’s roar of pain caught Tai’s ear. Tai turned around and his eyes widened in shock as he saw Greymon’s massive form falling towards them. He quickly jumped out of the way, just barely able to avoid the crashing form. Tai landed rather roughly but mostly uninjured along with the two weak rookies in his arms. He looked and gasped as he saw Greymon with a large number of scrapes, slashes and bruises all over his body.
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!” Roguemon laughed maniacally as Tai looked up to him. “It is hopeless. You were fool to think you could even measure up to my power! I can outmatch even the strongest of Mega Digimon, and I am only an Ultimate! HAHAHAHAHA!!!”
Tai clenched his teeth. He was in trouble. This Digimon was obviously stronger that Greymon and if his claim was true he would be much stronger than any of his friends’ partners were. He set the two Rookie Digimon on the ground and grabbed a nearby broken tree branch. He watched as Roguemon floated down to the ground, smirking evilly.
“Aw, the brave little fool, thinking he has an actual chance at defeating me,” Roguemon said mockingly. “You know what? You’ve given me a fun time so I’ll give you a chance. I’ll give you one free shot at me. Come on.” Roguemon stood firmly with a clear smirk.
Tai grit his teeth. He had just about had all he could about this bastard. He braced himself, ready to fight. He let out a strong yell as he charged at Roguemon. He raised the branch up high, ready to swing it down. He swung, and Roguemon stopped it with his humanoid hand.
“I lied,” the evil Digimon said before ripping the branch out of Tai’s hand and bringing up his demon claws.
Shadow Electro
“AAAAAH!!!” Tai screamed in pain as he was hit dead blank by the powerful attack. He crashed with his back against a tree, causing a loud grunt of pain. He fell onto his stomach. He struggled to get up. All of his body was in incredible pain. He coughed so hard, he started spitting blood. Something(s) was clearly broken. He tried desperately to get. He did, but not by himself.
“Well, well, how pathetic,” Roguemon said as he held Tai up by his neck with his humanoid hand. “I must admit kid. You were a lot more fun to hunt than I expected. It almost seems a shame to kill you.” Roguemon smiled evilly. “Almost.”
Blood Claws
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!”
Roguemon ran his clawed arm right through Tai’s abdomen, piercing all the way through his body. Roguemon smirked evilly as he watched Tai gasp in pain. He forcefully ripped his arm out. This time Tai didn’t scream. How could he? His body was overwhelmed with pain.
Roguemon released Tai from his hold, letting the human fall to the ground limply. His blue tattered and ripped headband had fallen off. Roguemon picked it up and glared down at the boy. “One down, eleven to go.” Roguemon said with an evil smirk before flying away.
Tai lay on the ground unable to move. The pain was incredible and his body was bleeding out at an incredible rate. There was no doubt about, he was dying. As he lay there in a growing pool of his own blood, Tai’s life flashed before his eyes. He saw his own birth, the birth of his sister, meeting all of his friends, meeting the Digimon, fighting evil Digimon like Devimon, Myotismon and Apocalymon, saying goodbye to the Digimon, giving his goggles to Davis, have his heart broken by Sora, watching WarGreymon and BlackWarGreymon fight it out, the defeat of MaloMyotismon and Armageddomon, and the recent events of this month. Through all these memories, Tai couldn’t help but feel sad. He had failed. He failed to stop Roguemon, and now his friend would be in danger. He at least hoped that his death would give them the strength to fight and survive against the evil Digimon. He would regret missing a lot of things, like his friends’ reaching their dreams, his sister’s wedding and many others. He only hoped they would be alright without him. Without any more thoughts to plague him, Tai closed his eyes for what appeared to be the final time.
And then, darkness.
oOoOoOo
And to think, things started off so nice.
For Sora, being a Digidestined meant that she would sometimes have to deal with problems in the Digital World. However, ever since the defeat of MaloMyotismon and Armageddomon, she thought she wouldn’t need to be caught in the saving the world business again. Obviously fate had other plans.
The day started off nicely. She helped her mother with her flower shop, had lunch with Mimi, and was just about to call Tai when Izzy messaged them about some sort of danger.
Ever since she and Matt broke up, Sora had been through a flurry of feelings, most of that concerning her best friend. She had to admit, at one time, she had a crush on him. However, he never seemed to show any real liking to her, so she decided to focus her attention on someone else who had caught her eye. For a while, she was happy, that was until Matt’s band life was interfering with their romance. The break up was mutual, but she had to admit it did hurt a lot. And who was there to help her through that hurt? Tai.
Over the last couple of weeks, she and Tai would spend some time together. She was however busy a lot lately, mostly because of her mother’s shop and her preparing for college, which meant she hadn’t had any real time to spend with Tai. She only hoped he would forgive her for missing out so much. She planned to apologize when they met for whatever Izzy called them for.
“So what do you think Izzy’s got for us this time?” Mimi asked her best friend. It was great having Mimi back in town. They got along great and would spend a lot of time together.
“Not sure,” Sora replied as they walked to the Koushirou apartment. “Though I’m betting it’s just another Numemon incident.” Mimi nodded in agreement.
“Hey guys!” a set of voices called. We turned to see Kari, TK, Davis, Ken, Yolie, and Cody running towards up. “Did you get Izzy’s message too?” Davis asked.
“Yeah,” Sora replied. She then turned to Kari. “Hey Kari, is Tai with you?”
Kari shook her head. “No, he wasn’t at home when I got the call. I’m guessing he’s probably already at Izzy’s house. Those two have been spending a lot of time together.”
“Really?” Yolie asked in surprise. “Mimi I thought you said you and Tai were spending a lot of time together.”
“Yeah, we are. Just last week we went at some great restaurant. He was a real gentleman too, paid for the entire meal,” Mimi said lightly. Sora turned to her friend, surprised and shocked that the pink haired girl had been spending time with Tai. Deep inside her, Sora felt something dark stir. She wasn’t sure what it was, but she quickly quelled it.
Secretly however, Mimi’s statement held more than she let on. She meant it to sound more friendly than anything, to her however it was much more. Since her return, the only people to really spend time with her were Sora and Tai. Sora, who was working a lot of the time at her mother’s shop, did not have a lot of time to hang around. Tai however always seemed to have time with her. And if he didn’t, he would make time for her. She had never had anyone treat her like that, it made her feel special. And the only time she would ever get that feeling was with Tai.
“Well, we better get going before Izzy has a Digi-cow,” Davis joked lightly. The others nodded in agreement and walked forward. They walked to the apartment where they were greeted by Izzy’s mother who told them that Izzy was in his room. They knocked on the door, and it was opened by someone other than Izzy.
“Oh, you’re here!” Joe said as he opened the door. The group entered, seeing Izzy on his computer with Matt right next to him.
“Guys, you made it. Great!” Izzy said with a light smile.
“Hey Sora,” Matt said awkwardly to his ex. Even though they were still friends, there was still some awkwardness between the two.
“Hey Matt,” Sora said with equal awkwardness.
“So, are we all here?” Izzy asked the group.
“My brother isn’t here,” Kari said, sounding surprised, and it was. Tai not appearing to of Izzy’s calls was unheard off. “Where could he be?”
“I tried calling him but he hasn’t answered,” Matt stated.
“I did too, where is that hard-head?” Joe added.
“I’m not sure where Tai could be, but we can’t wait for him,” Izzy said, surprising the group. “I got a call from Gennai. He says that an evil Digimon has appeared and is attacking several villages. He’s asking us for help to stop him before this Digimon hurts someone.”
“Another day, another dollar,” Davis said lightly. “Well what are we waiting for, let’s go.”
“But what about Tai?” Sora asked. “I mean, we can’t just leave without him.”
“We don’t really have much option Sora,” Izzy replied. “Gennai said he wanted all of us to come. Whatever this Digimon is, he thinks we’ll all need to help in fighting it. Tai can catch up once he gets the message. That is if he isn’t in the Digital World already.”
“Yeah, Izzy’s right. Tai’s probably already there with Agumon kicking butts and taking names,” Mimi cheered.
“Maybe, but if Gennai thinks this is dangerous, we should go and help,” Cody stated, causing the others to nod in agreement.
“So, what are we waiting for, let’s go!” Yolie declared as she held up her D-3 in front of Izzy’s computer. “Digiport Open!”
oOoOoOo
Darkness…
That was all he could see. Endless darkness.
Tai had no idea where he was or what had happened, but all he could see was darkness. He floated inside an empty void, unsure of what had occurred.
“Ugh…what happened?” Tai grunted as he leaned up, grabbing his forehead.
“You were killed young one…” a mysterious voice spoke.
Tai immediately snapped up, looking around frantically. “W-Who said that?!” he exclaimed.
Suddenly, the darkness around him became consumed in a bright light. Tai covered his eyes, and once the light disappeared, Tai found himself in a white void. He then felt a presence behind him and slowly turned around. He gasped at the sight before him.
Standing in front of him was a massive dragon with red armor, golden hair, and large wings made of flame. This great Digimon was five times his size, and his large blue eyes seemed to pierce into his very soul.
“W-W-Who are you…” Tai said timidly.
“I am AncientGreymon, the first Greymon,” the mighty dragon spoke.
From Tai’s perspective, the Digimon certainly looked like an ancient Greymon. His armor has large, but very rustic. “Where are we?” Tai asked, gesturing to the void of white.
“We are in the In-Between, the midpoint between life and death,” AncientGreymon replied.
Instantly, all of Tai’s memories returned. He was…killed. Roguemon had killed him. “I-I-I’m dead?” Tai said with fear in his voice.
“I am afraid so young one,” AncientGreymon replied. Tai looked down in disbelief. He was dead, done, gone forever. “However, your job is not done yet.”
Tai looked up at the ancient Digimon in confusion. “W-What do you mean?”
“You still have much to do with your life young Taichi,” AncientGreymon stated. “That is why you are here in the In-Between. There is still a chance for you to return to the world of the living and help your friends. They will be no match for Roguemon’s power.”
“You can send me back?!” Tai exclaimed in disbelief. AncientGreymon nodded. “Well what are we waiting for, let’s get going!”
“It is not that simple Taichi,” AncientGreymon stated. Tai looked up in confusion to the great Digimon. “The only reason I am able to come to you now is because you died in the Digital World. As you know, when a Digimon dies their data is reformatted into that of a Digiegg most times.” Tai nodded in understanding. “You however are the first human to have ever been killed in the Digital World. This alone is an unprecedented event, one that leads to certain possibilities.” Tai continued to stare in confusion, unsure of what AncientGreymon meant. “Taichi, the fact that you died in the Digital World means that you can be reformatted. Like Digimon, you will be reborn, however not in the same sense. You see Taichi, should you choose to return to the world of the living, you will be reborn as a Digimon.”
Tai blinked several times, letting the information sink in. He would…become a Digimon? “W-Wait. You mean, I’ll be like Agumon?”
“Not exactly,” AncientGreymon replied. “You will be unlike any Digimon that has ever come before. A force of incredible power and justice. You will be able to fight alongside your partner, however there is a price for this power.” Tai continued to stare intently. “Should you choose to accept this power, you will forever be turned into a Digimon. In short, you would relinquish your humanity forever.”
Tai’s eyes widened in shock. “Y-You mean I’ll never be able to change back again to my human self?!”
“I’m afraid so young Taichi,” AncientGreymon said grimly. “The transformation will be too great to ever reverse. You will forever remain changed.” Tai looked down sadly. AncientGreymon took a step forward. “Great power sometimes come at a great cost. This is a difficult choice I know, but you must ask yourself Taichi – what do you want to do? Should you choose to accept this gift, you will be reborn stronger than ever before. If you do not, you will leave this place and remain deceased. It is all up to you what you choose.”
Tai looked down. What could he do? Should he accept this gift, or just accept his death?
If he were reborn as a Digimon, there was a good chance he could never return to the human world. If his transformation were radical enough, he could never expect to find a good future in his world. And what about his friends and family? Would they reject him because of the transformation? Would they cast him off as some sort of monster? Would he be willing to give up his humanity for them?
Well, he already gave his life.
Tai blinked several times as the memory of his death returned. He gave up his life for his friends. He did it many times before, all to protect them. And while this was the first time he actually was killed, the point still stood. He would have gladly given up his life it meant his friends could live. He would have done it over and over again, all to keep them safe. They were his friends, no, his family. They meant more to him than anything the world. And if he was willing to give up his life for them, why not his humanity?
He had to admit, losing his humanity would get rid of a lot of the worries and fears he had experienced as of late. He would be free to live in the Digital World with Agumon and help keep the world safe like he had. Not only that, he would no longer be left on the sidelines while Agumon and the others went into battle. He could protect his friends like he always wanted to.
Tai looked up at AncientGreymon, his eyes gleaming with courage. “I accept. I want to be alive to protect my friends and the Digital World. I want to be there to help and save them when they need me. And right now, I know they need me. I was and still am willing to give my life for them, so my humanity is a little price to pay for their safety. I will face this challenge with courage.”
AncientGreymon looked down at Tai, and Tai could have sworn that the ancient Digimon was smiling. “As I knew you would you Taichi. You ARE the bearer of Courage, but you are so much more than just that. It was thanks to you that the others found their crests and managed to access their power. Courage can spread to many things: it can help people make incredible Friendships, it can give them the strength to Love, it can help them in the search for Knowledge, it helps in keeping Sincerity and Reliability, it helps keep Hope, and it shines the blinding Light in the greatest of Darkness and can birth great Kindness and create amazing Miracles that defy Destiny. You were chose as the bearer of this element for these very reasons young one. And it is because of those reasons I give you this power.”
A bright light shined from AncientGreymon’s wings. Instantly, two orbs appeared beneath them, one of fire and one of light.
“These orbs hold the powers of Light and Fire, the two strongest elements in the entire Digital World. Use their power to fight against the forces of evil and save both worlds.” AncientGreymon spoke. Tai nodded in acceptance. The two orbs floated down and touched Tai’s chest. They melded into him, and then Tai was consumed in a bright light. After a few seconds, the light disappeared, as did Tai.
“Take care of yourself Taichi. And know that this is a much greater gift than you realize. Let your shining fire burn through the shadows of evil.”
oOoOoOo
“Why do I always have to end on the bottom,” said a rather disgruntled Davis.
All of the Digidestined landed in the usual pile up fashion that had quickly become accustomed to. It was pretty much how they always entered the Digital World. One by one, they all got up. Davis, who had been on the bottom, was helped up by Ken.
“So Izzy, where is this evil Digimon?” Matt asked the brains of the outfit.
“Not sure, Gennai just gave us his general location,” Izzy replied.
“Hey guys, look!” Yolie exclaimed. the group all turned to see their Digimon partners running towards them. They had left them in the Digital World for some time, just so that the city which had been damaged during the Armageddomon incident could recover. Besides, the Digimon enjoyed returning to their world for time to time.
“Hey guys!” Veemon exclaimed.
“Gennai told us why you came,” Gabumon added as they two groups joined together.
“That’s great. That means now all we have to do is find this Digimon,” TK said lightly.
“Hey guys, have you seen Tai?” Kari asked.
“Yeah, he came by a few hours ago,” Palmon replied. The Digidestined all blinked in surprise.
“But…I only got the message from Gennai a short while ago,” Izzy stated unsurely.
“We know,” Gomamon replied. “But Tai comes by every now and again. He came by earlier and left to relax. Agumon left a bit of a while ago.”
“Tai comes here to relax?” Ken asked in surprise. Everyone else was equally surprised.
“Yes Ken, he comes here whenever he needs to clear his head,” Wormmon explained. “He’s also comes to help out with some of the villages. Just last week he helped build a new building at the Koromon village.”
“He did?” Sora asked in surprise. “When did he have the time to do that?”
“Tai makes time for his friends,” Biyomon said sourly, surprising the group even further. As much as she loved Sora, that didn’t mean she couldn’t get mad at her.
Sora and everyone else claimed Tai was dense, but they weren’t any better. She could clearly see how Tai felt for Sora, yet her partner never did. Not only that, she could see how hurt Tai was when Sora picked Matt over him. Biyomon liked Matt, but she could see how much better Tai would have been. And the fact that Tai hadn’t been feeling so happy made her feathers even more ruffled.
“Now’s not the time Biyomon,” Gabumon spoke sternly. Biyomon sighed and nodded. Gabumon nodded back. “We must find this Digimon and handle him. Tai should hopefully already be there waiting for us.”
Despite the previous conversation, the humans and Digimon all nodded. “So, where do we go to find this evil Digimon?” Yolie asked.
“How about turning around?” said a dark voice. The Digidestined all turned to see Roguemon standing behind them, smirking. “Lookin’ for me?”
“Are you the Digimon that’s causing mischief?” Mimi asked sternly.
“Maybe,” Roguemon said teasingly. “Depends on what you say by mischief. If you mean destroying villages and Digimon, then yes, that would be me.”
“You’re in big trouble buddy,” Davis said, punching his fist to his hand.
“Yeah!” Veemon added, mimicking Davis’s actions.
“Wow, big words coming from such small children,” Roguemon said nonchalantly. He then smirked back at the group. “Tell you what, if you can catch me, then we’ll talk. See Ya!” Roguemon flew off into the sky.
“Guys! Let’s not let him get away!” Izzy exclaimed.
“Right!” the group replied.
Gabumon Digivolve to…GARURUMON!
Biyomon Digivolve to…BIRDRAMON!
Tentomon Digivolve to…KABUTERIMON!
Veemon Digivolve to…EXVEEMON!
Wormmon Digivolve to…STINGMON!
Hawkmon Digivolve to…AQUILAMON!
Patamon Digivolve to…ANGEMON!
Gatomon Digivolve to…ANGEWOMON!
Taking mount upon their Digimon, the Digidestined rode off in chase after Roguemon. Joe and Gomamon joined Matt on Garurumon, Mimi and Palmon joined Sora on Birdramon, and Cody and Armadillomon joined Izzy on Kabuterimon.
Roguemon flew fast through the sky, leading the Digidestined and their partners to a large Cliffside. At the bottom were heavy crashing waves of water and several large pointed rocks. He smiled evilly.
“The jig is up!” Davis cried out from behind.
Roguemon turned around, now facing all of the Digidestined evolved Digimon, including Ikkakumon, Togemon, and Ankylomon. “Ah, the gang’s all here. Well, it looks like you caught me.”
“Any last words?” Matt stated.
“Just two,” Roguemon said as he flashed a devilish smile and brought out his pistol.
Darkness Bullets
He fired multiple shots at the Digidestined, causing their Digimon partners to guard them. “Are you guys okay?” ExVeemon asked worriedly.
“We’re fine, just go get that bozo!” Davis yelled.
“Right! Let’s go guys!” Garurumon declared. The rest of the Digimon joined in the fight.
Howling Blaster!
Harpoon Torpedo!
Needle Spray!
The three attacks flew at Roguemon at rapid speed, but the Digimon simply glided to the side to avoid them. “Seriously? That’s the best you got?”
“Well try this!” ExVeemon yelled from above.
Vee Laser!
Meteor Wing!
Blast Rings!
Electro Shocker!
The four attacks all struck Roguemon dead on, causing a large cloud to form around him. “Alright! You did it!” Yolie said triumphantly.
“I wouldn’t say that Yolie,” Cody warned. The group of humans turned and all gasped to see Roguemon completely unharmed by the attack.
“Please, I’ve felt Rookies with more strength than that, just today I was hit by two,” Roguemon said rolling his eyes.
“Oh yeah, try this on for size!” Ankylomon growled as he and Stingmon charged from different sides.
Spiking Strike!
Tail Hammer!
Roguemon simply rolled his eyes and flew up, letting the two Champion Digimon crash into each other.
“Stingmon/Ankylomon!” Ken and Cody cried out in shock.
“Like I said, pathetic,” Roguemon said darkly. He then looked up to see Angemon and Angewomon staring down at him. “Ah, angel Digimon eh. I hope you’re more of a challenge than the rest of these losers.”
“We’ll give you a challenge!” Angewomon declared.
Hand of Fate!
Celestial Arrow!
The two attacks flew right at Roguemon. However, right as they were about to hit, he smirked , the disappeared from sight. The two attacks hit the ground, shocking the two angel Digimon.
“Where’d he go?!” Angemon exclaimed. He then felt a finger touch his shoulder. He turned around and-
Shadow Electro
“AAAAAH!” Angemon cried in pain as he received a heavy hit from the smirking Roguemon.
“Angemon!” Angewomon cried out in shock as she watched her friend crash into the ground below. She turned Roguemon and clenched her teeth. “You’ll pay for that.”
“Really? I’d like to see you try girly,” Roguemon said with an evil smirk. He vanished once more, causing Angewomon to gasp.
Darkness Bullets
“AAAH!” Angewomon cried in pain as four of her wings were shot with black bullets. Roguemon then appeared in front of her with an orb of black electricity in his demon palm.
Shadow Electro
A large explosion erupted as Angewomon was sent flying from the attack. Roguemon then appeared in her line of flight and caught her by her neck with his humanoid hand. Angewomon gagged in pain at the strong grip around her throat. “Aw, what’s the matter baby? Roguemon got your tongue?” he said mockingly.
“Let her go!” yelled Angemon. Roguemon turned to see all of the flying Digimon flying towards him.
“Some mons just don’t ever learn,” Roguemon said sadistically as he held out his demon palm.
Shadow Electro
Several blast of black electrical energy shot out, each hitting the Digimon partners head on.
“Guys!” Garurumon exclaimed along with the other grounded Digimon, only to be struck by several more Shadow Electros themselves. “AAH!”
“Garurumon!” Matt cried out in shock.
“RAH!” Kabuterimon cried in pain as he fell from the sky into the ground.
“Kabuterimon!” Izzy cried out.
“WAH!” Ikkakumon and Ankylomon yelled out as they were sent flying.
“Ikkakumon! Oh no!” Joe yelled out in shout.
“Ankylomon! No!” Cody said at the same time.
“RAH!” ExVeemon yelled in pain.
“AH!” Stingmon cried out at the same time.
“ExVeemon!” Davis yelled out.
“Stingmon NO!” Ken added.
“UGH!” Angemon cried out as he crashed into the earth.
“Angemon!” TK exclaimed.
“URAAGH!” Togemon and Aquilamon exclaimed as they crashed into one another.
“Oh no! Togemon!” Mimi screamed in worry.
“Aquilamon!” Yolie yelled loudly.
“BRRYYAA!” Birdramon screeched as she crashed onto the edge of the cliff.
“Birdramon NO!” Sora screamed as she ran to her partner.
“As I said, pathetic,” Roguemon said as he increased his grip on Angewomon’s throat, causing her to choke in pain.
“Angewomon!” Kari screamed worriedly as she watched her partner from below.
“This is the strength of the Digidestined? PATHETIC!” Roguemon roared. “Seriously. Your leader was more of a challenge on his own than all of you are together.”
“Leader? Wait…Tai?!” Matt exclaimed in shock, catching everyone’s attention.
Roguemon smirked. “Yep. Kid had balls I’ll give him that. He was willing to put himself in danger just to save a bunch of baby Digimon even when his own partner wasn’t there. Too bad though the fun didn’t last long.”
“What are you talking about?” Izzy questioned.
“Well, simply put, we met, we talked, I shot at him a few times, he ran, he hid, and then his little partner showed up. And honestly, he was more of a challenge along with those two rookies than all of you combined,” Roguemon said with a smirk, still not letting go out of Angewomon’s neck. “Even if they did prove to be more of a challenge, they were still no match me. And your little leader, oh he was great. He actually believed he could fight me. HA! Well, that was short lived.”
“What did you do to my brother?!” Kari screamed loudly.
Roguemon smirked. “I killed him.”
Everything seemed to freeze. All the Digidestined and their digimon could only stare in shock.
He had to be lying.
He had to. There was no way he could have done what he did.
But judging by the look on his face, there was little doubt he would. “YOU’RE LYING!!!” Davis’s voice yelled out angrily. “There’s no way in hell Tai would get killed by someone like you.”
“Don’t believe me, then what is this?” Roguemon said as he pulled out and held up Tai’s ripped, bloodied and tattered headband.
“N-no…” Mimi whispered, her eyes watering. The others could hardly believe it as well. Tai may have no longer worn his trademark goggles, but that headband was unmistakable. Kari fell to her knees, tears streaming down her cheeks. Sora stood speechless.
“Exactly,” Roguemon said with a devilish smirk. “I ended the bearer of Courage, and now you all will follow.”
“LIKE HELL WE WILL!!!” Davis yelled out, his voice full of rage. “KEN!”
“Right Davis!” Ken yelled equally angry.
“Let’s do this to Cody,” TK said angrily.
“Right!” Cody agreed.
ExVeemon…
Stingmon…
Angemon…
Ankylomon…

Darkness Bullets
Right when the four Digimon were about to fuse, Roguemon shot them, causing them to fall back to the ground at a rapid speed.
“No!” Davis yelled angrily. “ExVeemon get up! We need to try again!”
“Right Davis! You ready Stingmon?” ExVeemon declared.
“I’m still ready!” Stingmon grunted.
ExVeemon…
Stingmon…
DNA Digivolve to…
“OOF!” the two Digimon grunted as, instead of fusing, crashed into one another and fell back to the ground, leaving the Digidestined standing in shock.
“W-W-Wha…How?” Yolie stuttered, only to be interrupted by Roguemon’s maniacal laughter.
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!” the evil Digimon cackled, still holding Angewomon’s struggling figure tight. “You honestly didn’t expect I wouldn’t be ready for your strongest warrior? Please. I know all about you. I know who’s the strongest, and I know that Imperialdramon was the only Digimon who had any possibly of defeating me. So, I simply snipped the problem at its core.”
“What are you talking about you twisted freak?!” Davis yelled.
“Flattery will get you nowhere my dear,” Roguemon smirked. “But to answer your question, I quite simply destroyed your Digimons’ ability to DNA Digivolve. Meaning neither Imperialdramon or Shakkuomon will ever appear again!”
“That’s impossible!” Matt yelled out.
“So was killing the bearer of Courage, but I did it,” Roguemon said, smirking as the Digidestined froze once more. “Well, as much fun as this was, our time has come to its end. Now, who wants to die first?” he scanned the group, trying to pick out who would be the most fun to end. He then noticed Sora standing next to her de-digivolved Biyomon right by the edge of the cliff. “Ah, the bearer of Love. Perfect.”
Shadow Electro
BOOOM!
“AAAH!” Sora screamed as she and Biyomon were blasted off of the edge of the cliff.
“SORA!” most of the Digidestined screamed in shock. They could do nothing, for their partners were all either unconscious or de-Digivolved.
As Sora fell to what was sure her doom, her life flashed before her eyes.
She saw many things – meeting the Digimon, finding her crest, fighting against evil Digimon, hanging out with her friends and being with Matt. But out of all her memories, her most precious ones were those that were with Tai. Since as long as she could remember, he had been there for her. He gave her his friendship without asking anything in return. Throughout the years, that friendship never faltered, that was until they got older.
Now that she was falling to her death, Biyomon’s earlier words made sense. Tai did make time for his friends, it was one of his greatest quality. But while Tai made time for all of them when they needed it, they never made any time to spend with him. The last time she openly spent time with Tai was sometime after her breakup with Matt. Since then, she barely saw him and even less spoke to him. Yet whenever she asked for help, he was the first to come to her aid. Matt had his band to worry about, but Tai always put her needs first. And how did she repay that friendship, by neglecting her friend all together.
The more she thought about Tai, the more Sora realized something. Her feelings for Tai never left. She had buried them in the thought that he didn’t like her. Her feelings for Matt passed away, but her feelings for Tai did nothing but grow. And now that she was falling to her doom, she realized it – she loved Tai Kamiya. She was sure she always loved him, she was just too dense to realize it. And now that she was going to die, she could be with him in the next life she hoped. So Sora resigned herself to her fate, knowing there was no way to escape i-
“Hey Sora, need a lift?”
Sora’s entire body jerked as she felt a pair of strong arms catch her just before she hit the pointed rocks and waves below. Her eyes shot open as she looked around worriedly. Her eyes landed on a familiar childish smile.
“T-T-Tai?” Sora stuttered in shock.
“That’s my name, don’t wear it out,” Tai said cheekily.
It couldn’t be.
It just couldn’t.
But it WAS!
“TAI!” Sora screamed in joy as tears escaped her eyes. She wrapped her arms around Tai’s neck tightly, happily hugging him with all her might. She held him for who knows how long.
“Hey Sora, could you hold off the hugging until we’re back up top. We still got our friends to help,” Tai said nervously.
It was then Sora’s eyes shot wide once more. She looked at Tai’s face once more, realizing it had changed. His chocolate brown eyes had turned into a sparkling blue. She would have checked more when she heard the sounds of waves crashing below her.
She looked down, and saw that she was floating just above the pointed rocks and waves.
Sora slowly turned her head to Tai with a questioning and confused expression. She then noticed some white feathers behind him. Sora then got a good look at Tai overall, and gasped. She also saw he had an unconscious Biyomon in his other arm.
“T-Tai…h-how..?”
“I’ll explain everything later, but right now our friends need help,” Tai said sternly. Sora was surprised by Tai’s seriousness, but nodded in agreement. She didn’t care, he was alive.
Back with the Digidestined-
After watching Sora plummet off the cliff, the Digidestined felt something they had not felt in many years – hopelessness.
Their Digimon were defeated, their strongest evolutions were destroyed, and their leader was dead along with Sora. How could they even stand a chance to defeat this Digimon.
“So,” Roguemon said cocking his gun with his demon hand. “Who’s next?”
“You are Roguemon!” yelled out a hauntingly familiar voice. Everyone turned back, staring at the edge of the cliff where Sora and Biyomon had been blasted off. And what they saw left everyone, especially Roguemon, speechless.
“N-No! I-It’s not possible! I KILLED YOU!!!” Roguemon roared in disbelief.
“Yeah, yeah. If I had a nickel for every time I heard that,” Tai said nonchalantly as he flew down to the ground with Sora and Biyomon in his arms.
Standing there at the edge of the cliff was none other than the leader of the Digidestined and the bearer of the crest of Courage – Taichi “Tai” Kamiya. But he was no longer the same.
While his trademark hair and face was mostly unchanged, the rest of him was. First difference were his eyes, they were blue instead of brown. That was however the mildest of the changes. The most obvious changes were obviously the four sky blue angel wings on his back, the three brown and blue horns protruding from his head, and a long tan-skinned reptilian tail. He had no shirt, so his impressive physique was exposed. Along his back, shoulders, arms, and tail were multiple blue stripes. While he did not wear a shirt, he did have a set of long white robes with golden trimmings that went over each of his shoulders. He wore long baggy pants held up by a golden belt and several blue robes with golden trimmings. He had a pair of light blue and golden boots, and a set of black fingerless gloves that exposed a set of sharp white claws.
“So, did ya all miss me?” Tai said, offering the unmistakable cheesy smile.
“TAI!!!” Kari screamed happily as she ran over and hugged her brother.
“Aw Kari, I was only dead for a short while,” Tai chuckled as he hugged her back.
“You bastard!” Mimi screamed as she ran over with Palmon in her arms. “Do you have any idea how scared we all were?”
Tai released his sister and went over and hugged the pink haired girl. “Sorry Meems, you know I never mean to.” Mimi simply sobbed into his shoulder, happy to see him alive.
“Tai?” Matt’s voice spoke from behind. Tai turned and saw the rest of the Digidestined and their partners still staring in shock. “H-How…w-we thought…”
“I know,” Tai replied. “I promise, I’ll explain later. But for now, I have a Digimon to beat down.” Tai turned up to Roguemon who still stared in shock.
“This simply cannot be. You’re a human! You couldn’t have been reborn! Much less as a Digimon!” Roguemon growled angrily.
“Oh, but I did,” Tai said with a smirk. “When a Digimon dies, they come back stronger than before. And you helped me come back stronger than ever before. Prepare to get defeated!”
“HA!” Roguemon laughed darkly, squeezing Angewomon’s neck. “You think YOU can stop me alone!? Even with this new form, you’re no match for me!”
“Who said anything about fighting you alone?” Tai said with a smirk. He reached into his pocket and brought out an odd looking device that resembled a touch-screen phone with an orange cover around the black screen, blue grips on the side, and a black Crest of Courage on the back. “D-Link activate! Come on out guys!”
A bright light shot out from the strange device, and three beams of light shot forward. The beams of light took form before Tai, and dimmed to reveal Agumon, Patamon and Elecmon.
“We’re ready Tai!” the trio said with courage in their voices.
“Then let’s do it! D-Link, do your stuff!” Tai exclaimed, holding up the device once more. The screen shined bright, and so did the three Digimon.
Agumon Digivolve to…GREYMON!
Patamon Digivolve to…SHE-ANGEMON!
Elecmon Digivolve to…LEOWOMON!
In a flash of light, the three Digimon were replaced by three Champion Digimon. Standing in the middle was the mighty figure of Greymon, but standing next to him were very different Digimon. Patamon was replaced by a Digimon that resembled Angemon, but was clearly female obvious by slim figure, the long blonde hair, and the impressive rack that was held by a long purple ribbon. Elecmon was replaced by a tall lioness Digimon resembling Leomon, but was slimmer and had a pair of large breasts held by a blue ribbon tied around her torso.
“You guys ready?” Tai asked the trio.
“Let’s do it!” the trio exclaimed, charging into battle.
“You think three Champions will defeat me when many more tried, ha!” Roguemon laughed darkly.
“Who said they’d be doing it alone,” Tai said with a smirk as he spread his wings. He was about to fly off when he felt a pair of hands on his arms.
“Tai NO!” Kari screamed she held her brother’s arm. “What are you thinking? You can’t fight him!”
“Kari, I need to,” Tai said, trying to get her to release his arm, but she held tight.
“NO! YOU CAN’T!” She cried out as tears fell from her eyes. She looked up, her eyes glistening with fear and sorrow. “I-I can’t l-lose you again.”
Tai smiled warmly and held his sister shoulders. “Kari, you won’t lose me again. I promise. I can fight now, I can help our friends. And right now, Angewomon needs my help.” Tai leaned and rested his forehead against hers. “I promise I’ll come back Kari. You know I always keep my promises right?” Kari hesitantly nodded and smiled slightly at her brother. “Good. Hey Sora.”
“Yeah Tai,” Sora asked, still stunned by seeing Tai alive and well and a Digimon.
“Watch Kari for me while I kick this guy’s ass,” Tai said, showing off his cocky smirk that everyone one of them knew so well.
Sora smiled warmly and nodded. “Sure.” Tai nodded back. He kissed Kari’s forehead one more time then flew off into the sky. “YOU BETTER MAKE SURE YOU COME BACK TAI KAMIYA! BECAUSE IF YOU GET KILLED AGAIN, NOT EVEN DEATH WILL SAVE YOU FROM MY WRATH!” Sora screamed happily.
“AND THAT GOES DOUBLE FOR ME!” Mimi screamed as well. The two had big smiles on their faces, along with the rest of the Digidestined.
“Looks like I got my work cut out for me,” Tai laughed as he flew forward. Towards the battle. “Guys, keep him busy.”
“Right Tai!” the trio of Digimon replied.

The trio of Digimon charged at Roguemon who simply smirked. “No matter. You’re master may have returned, but you are still no match for me!”
Shadow Electro
Fire Wall!
Roguemon launched his attack, but Greymon breath a wall of flame, blocking the attack effectively. “WHAT?!” Roguemon exclaimed in shock. No one had ever blocked his attack before.
Hand of Destiny!
Fist of the Beast Queen!
A beam of shining light and the fiery head of a lion shot at Roguemon from behind. He quickly evaded the attack and looked to see She-Angemon and Leowomon staring at them with battle-hardened glares.
Roguemon smirked. “Ha! You think just because you Digivolved you have a chance against me? You could never injure me with those attacks.”
“Those weren’t attacks,” She-Angemon spoke, hiding the growing smirk.
“Oh yeah, then what were they?” Roguemon asked smirking.
“A distraction.”
Burning Combat!
Before Roguemon even realized it, he was punched across the face by a flaming fist. That fiery punch belonged to none other than Tai Kamiya. The shock and force of the punch caused Roguemon to release Angewomon from his grip.
“Take this!” Tai yelled as he swung his foot around. It ignited in flames and he landed a powerhouse kick to Roguemon’s midsection, sending the evil Digimon flying. “Angewomon!” he exclaimed as he flew down and the weakened angel digimon in his arms bridal style.
“Uh…ugh…” Angewomon groaned as consciousness slowly returned to her. she gazed up and stared into Tai’s face. “T…Tai…?”
“I got you Angewomon,” Tai spoke softly. “Guys! Keep Roguemon busy while I take Angewomon back to the others.”
“We got your back Tai!” Leowomon declared. Tai nodded back and flew to the group.
“Angewomon!” Kari exclaimed as she ran over to her brother and partner. Tai laid the weak angel down on the ground. Angewomon did not move however. “I-Is she okay?”
“She’s very weak,” Tai replied, examining the fallen angel. Her neck held marks of Roguemon’s grip, along with the many other injuries she had received during the battle. “I can’t do much now, but I should be able to heal her more serious wounds.”
“Really? How?” Joe asked.
“Like this,” Tai said as he pressed his hands together. They glowed white and put his hands above Angewomon’s chest.
Great Healing
The light from Tai’s hands spread from all over Angewomon’s body. as the glow grew bright, Angewomon’s much heavier injuries diminished. The marks around her neck disappeared, and Angewomon felt her strength returned. After a few seconds, the glowing ceased.
“That’s all I can do for now,” Tai spoke. “I need to get back to my friends.” Tai took flight once more.
Shadow Electro!
Nova Blast
The two attacks collided, canceling each other out. Roguemon was furious. Not only had Tai returned as a Digimon after he supposedly killed him, but now that human actually managed to get a hit on him. Not only that, he somehow managed to get the three Digimon to evolve and they were actually proving as a challenge now.
“What’s the matter ugly, not having fun?” She-Angemon teased. Roguemon growled angrily and pointed his pistol at her.
Darkness Bullets!
Holy Shot!
Each Digimon fired their respective shots, each one hitting the other’s with deadly precision. Roguemon snarled as he saw She-Angemon hovered before him still battle ready.
Beast Sword!
Roguemon was barely able to dodge as Leowomon slashed her long sword at him. He swung his claws around ready to strike her back.
Blood Claws!
Gaia Burst!
“AAAAH!” Roguemon growled in pain as a shining beam of light struck him in the chest. He regained his stance and looked up to meet Tai flying just a short bit away from him. “How is this possible?!” Roguemon growled angrily. “You’re nothing more than a human! You should be dead! This is simply not possible.”
“In case you didn’t know Roguemon, I’m a Digidestined,” Tai said pointing to himself. “We specialize in doing the impossible.”
“Well Tai, I hope you enjoyed your second life, because you won’t be getting a third!” Roguemon roared as his entire body became coated in a black aura.
“My friends call me Tai, you can call me ANGEGREYMON!!!” Tai declared as his own body gained a golden aura.
Shadow Electro!
Gaia Burst!
The two attacks hit, creating a large cloud of smoke. Tai stared at the smoke cloud, anticipating where Roguemon would come out from.
“RAAAH!” Roguemon cried from above Tai. Tai’s eyes widened in surprise as the evil Digimon brought his Demon claws down at him.
Blood Cla-
Fist of Destiny!
“AH!” Roguemon cried in pain as his attack was once again interrupted by a beam of light.
Tai looked over and saw She-Angemon flew over to him. Tai smiled at her. “Thanks Pata.”
“No problem Tai,” She-Angemon replied with a grin.
Roguemon snarled as he stared at the two heavenly Digimon. He raised his pistol once more, ready to shoot them down.
Fist of the Beast Queen!
“Ugh!” Roguemon grunted as he avoided the flaming lion head once more. However, that was only a distraction.
Nova Blast!
BOOOM!
Roguemon was consumed in the large fireball followed by an explosion. Tai turned to see Leowomon and Greymon walking towards him and She-Angemon. “Great work guys.”
“Thanks Tai!” Leowomon replied with a toothy grin.
“We kicked his butt!” Greymon declared.
“Don’t be too sure,” Roguemon’s voice spoke. The four Digimon all quickly turned to see a slightly singed Roguemon floating before them. “I’ll admit. That was much more powerful than expected. But even with all that power, the four of you are no match for me. I can handle the strongest of Mega Digimon, and you three are only Champions and a freak.”
“You know what, you’re right,” Tai said, surprising his Digimon. “Three Champions aren’t enough to beat you. That’s why I’m going to step things up.” Tai smirked as he brought out his device out again. “D-Link BLAST!” the screen of the device shined bright and Tai’s three Digimon were consumed in similar lights.
Greymon Blast Digivolve to…METALGREYMON!
She-Angemon Blast Digivolve to…MAGNAANGEWOMON!
Leowomon Blast Digivolve to… ICELEOWOMON!
Once again, Tai’s Digimon were replaced by stranger versions of themselves. Greymon’s left arm was now large and metallic, his skull was covered in steel with orange hair on the back, his chest had metal armor, and he had six long purple wings. She-Angemon was now covered in silver and purple armor similar to that of MagnaAngemon but fitted for her female form, and she had a long purple scarf around her neck. Leowomon was now white and much larger and seemed to have an icy aura around her. the blue ribbon remained around her bust.
All of the Digidestined were speechless. None of them could believe what was happening. All of them still question how Tai became a Digimon, but that changed when he brought out Agumon along with two more Digimon. Not only that, he was able to Digivolve all three of them! There has only been one case of a Digidestined having more than one partner and that was with Willis. Those questions only intensified as now they saw him Digivolve all three of them once more into their Ultimate levels, something most of the Digidestined had not been able to do since they returned Azulongmon’s power.
“I-I-IMPOSSIBLE!” Roguemon said in disbelief. “HOW?! How are you able to go to the Ultimate level? You no longer have Azulongmon’s power or the Crest of Courage!”
“You sure about that?” Tai said with a smirk as he revealed his device. On the screen was the unmistakable glowing image of the Crest of Courage. Roguemon was speechless. “Well Roguemon, this has been fun, but it’s time to end this! Let’s go guys!”
“RIGHT!” the trio exclaimed in unison.
Roguemon growled angrily. “Even with three Ultimates on your side, you are no match for me!”
“We’ll see about that!” Tai exclaimed as he flew into the sky. He raised his arms into the air, and the clouds above began to turn dark and swirl around him.
Great Star Storm!
Tai swung his arms down, and several shining fireballs rained down at Roguemon. Roguemon was able to dodge many, but was eventually hit by one. “Argh…” he grunted in pain.
Frozen Fist of the Beast Queen!
Roguemon turned back to see a large white lion’s head flying towards him. He wasn’t able to get away and was struck by the attack, effectively freezing most of his body. He began to fall to the earth as he struggled to escape the icy hold.
Excellion!
MagnaAngewomon flew above the falling Roguemon and slashed her violet sword down on him. The attack broke the ice, but also sent Roguemon flying to the ground even faster than before. Before hitting the ground, Roguemon was able to catch himself from the fall. He gasped as he tried to catch his breath.
Giga Blaster!
Roguemon’s eyes widened in shock as he looked behind himself as he saw MetalGreymon launch two incoming missiles directly at him. Roguemon wasted no time flying away from the missiles, but those two were locked on him. He turned back and shot one of them, detonating it. He wasn’t so lucky as the second one hit him.
“AAAAH!” Roguemon yelled in pain as he was sent flying from the explosion. He squinted his eyes and saw Tai flying towards him at rapid speeds.
Burning Combat!
Tai’s hands and feet ignited in flames as flew towards Roguemon. He quickly swung around, landing another powerhouse kick, this time on Roguemon’s head. The evil Digimon was sent flying with Tai right after him. Tai managed to get in front of him and this time brought down both flaming fists down on Roguemon’s back, sending him back down to the ground.
“Time for the big one!” Tai exclaimed loudly. He stuck both his arms out. His left hand ignited in fire while his right glowed with light. He then brought his hands together, creating and orb of flaming light. He rose the orb above his head letting it grow in size. The orb grew till it was the size of his head, then until it was the size of him. Then it grew further until the orb of shining fire was five times his size. “Everyone together! Time to end this!”
Giga Blaster!
Frozen Fist of the Beast Queen!
Shining Soul!
All three of Tai’s Digimon sent their respective attacks down to the falling Roguemon. Now it was his turn.
“With the power of Fire and Light, let your evil be forever destroyed!”
“TERRA NOVA!!!”
Tai sent the giant orb of shining fire down at Roguemon. His attack consumed that of his partners, making it even stronger. Roguemon was barely able to comprehend what was happening until it was too late. The last thing he saw was the giant orb of flaming light.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
The explosion shook the earth, causing the Digidestined and their partners to lose their footing. They saw the large cloud of smoke form where Tai had sent his attack. The scene was clouded by smoke, so none of them could tell what had happened. For some, fear began to grip them in worry for Tai. However, that worry was quickly put to rest as Tai emerged from the smoke cloud uninjured along with Agumon, Patamon, and Elecmon.
“TAI!” Kari, Sora, Mimi and their partners all exclaimed happily as they saw the teen. They along with the rest of the Digidestined and their partners ran over to meet their leader.
Tai waved at them happily, until he realized that Sora, Mimi and Kari were not stopping their rapid pace. “Hey girls, Wa-IIIT!” Tai yelled as he was tackled to the ground by the combined force of the three human girl. “Ow…”
“You jerk!” Mimi screamed. “Why’d you have to worry us like that again?”
“Yeah, we thought you were hurt!” Sora added. Despite her yelling, she was smiling widely, happy to have Tai alive with them. Mimi and Kari matched her grins.
“What can I say, I like to keep you guys on your toes,” Tai joked, offering that golden smile once more. The girls all giggled, all happy to see Tai.
“Ahem,” Matt’s voice cut through. Tai and the girls all looked over to see the rest of the Digidestined, either with confused, happy, or in Matt’s case, smug. Quickly enough, the three girls hopped off of Tai, each with big red blushes on their faces. Tai picked himself up and dusted himself off as Matt walked over. The two teens stared at each other, uncertain of who would act first. Matt, surprisingly enough, smiled and held out his hand. “Not too shabby Tai.”
Tai smiled back an nodded, taking Matt’s hand in his own. “Thanks Matt,” he replied. Matt suddenly winced, jerking his hand back. “Oops, sorry. Forgot I had claws now,” Tai said, clenching his new sharp claws.
“Facinating,” Izzy said as he walked over to inspect Tai. He looked the elder teen over, examining his wings, horns, tail, and etc.
“Is he always this weird?” Pata asked as she sat on Tai’s head.
“Sometimes,” Tai joked. “Izzy, do you mind? You’re making me kind of nervous.”
“Oh, sorry Tai,” Izzy apologized. “But I’m just trying to figure out how this happened to you. This is something I’ve never seen before.”
“Yeah, I know,” Tai replied. “Guys, I know you have a lot of questions, but I think it’d be better if we talked somewhere else.”
“Tai’s right,” Agumon intervened. “We should head somewhere safe so we’re not attacked again.”
“Right,” Tai replied. He then snapped his claws. “And I know just the place. Everyone gather around.” All the Digidestined and their partners gather into a circle around Tai. “Now hold on.” Tai pulled out his device and touched the screen. The screen began to glow bright, and instantly the entire group of humans and Digimon were consumed in dome of light. A second later, the dome disappeared, leaving the battleground vacant of life.
Well…almost.
As the smoke cleared from Tai and his partners’ attack, the heavily injured form of Roguemon remained on the ground. Suddenly, his golden eyes re-opened, and the flames of rage burned bright in them.
The new adventure for the Digidestined, and Tai especially, has only just begun.
Dadada! I’m back and better than ever!
After all my time as a Digimon, I finally put up a Digimon Harem story. And what a comeback.
Sorry for not giving you guys a lemon, but considering how much happened in this chapter, I thought it wouldn’t be that bad. I mean, how can you top killing the leader of the Digidestined and the bringing him back as a Digimon? I hope this was all badass enough for you guys. Frankly, I’m extremely glad with how this chapter turned out. It’s by far one of my longest one’s ever. While this chapter did not have a lemon, I can promise the next one will.
Now that Tai is a Digimon, it seems only fair to give you guys some of his specs-
Tai – AngeGreymon
Level: Hybrid
Attribute: Vaccine
Type: Holy Dragon Man
Attacks:
Burning Combat – Hands and feet light on fire and Tai attacks his enemies
Gaia Burst – fire a beam of light from his palms
Great Healing – Heals allies and the surrounding area
Great Star Storm – creates a storm cloud and sends multiple balls of flame raining down
Terra Nova – using the powers of Fire and Light, Tai creates a massive orb of shining fire to launch at his enemies. This is his strongest attack.
If you guys didn’t notice, I decided to go with D-Link for Tai’s new Digivice. It will make a lot more sense why in the next chapter. This Digivice has a lot of interesting powers, many that will be revealed later. One power that is included is Split Digivolution.
Split Digivolution will happen in a later chapter, but it is to increase Tai’s harem even more so. It is a permanent process that will split Digimon and their evolutions. This is to give all of the Digimon evolutions a chance to take part in battle, since in several series when a new evolution is introduced, the previous ones are forgotten. Now, I don’t like to give too many spoilers, but for now I’ll reveal Tai’s current team and their evolutions.
Agumon – Greymon – MetalGreymon/SkullGreymon – WarGreymon/VictoryGreymon
Patamon – She-Angewomon – MagnaAngewomon – Seraphiwomon
Elecmon – Leowomon – IceLeowomon – SaberLeowomon
I will add more Digimon (and humans) to the list as the story goes on.
Next time – Bad to the Bone
Tai takes his friends to his new home, courtesy of his new Digivice, the D-Link. He explains what happened to him, and reveals his recent problems to his friends. Things get even more hectic when an old enemy returns stronger than before, and the only way to defeat him is to bring back a bad memory.
Anyone who guesses what this means get an imaginary gold star!
Well, that’s all for now. Until next time, and please review! No flames or trolls!
