In the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a beautiful dark forest not too far from a wondrous hot spring.
(heavy rain, lightning. The wind holes leaving behind the familiar sound of branched cracking)
Samantha sighs, looking out the window with the feeling of gloom all around her. Wishing this damn rain would just stop already. I hate being in this place, it's too creepy, all the shit that's happened here…. The others she mutters.
I know Beth says, busting in from the room next door. It doesn't matter if the rain stops or not, we leave in two hours ok? That should be enough time to get ready and leave. Samantha! Beth yells, did you hear me?
Yea!.. Ok-ok, b-but, what about them, Samantha whispered, pointing to the other two remaining people left from their group of eight, bound, unconscious and gagged in the closet.
Hmmm. sighed Beth, well I mean we could just leave them. I mean after all look what those bastards have done! I don't trust them, I never will again, and neither should you Sam. I just don't thi-.
Just stop it already shouted Samantha just stop ok, please she pleaded with her sister. Listen Beth, we can't start thinking like them, we can't go down that road ok? Or I'm afraid they will get us too. Lets just think ok? We're not leaving just yet, besides, we don't even know if we can get out. Not with how this place has been working so far.. Samantha sighs as she looks at all the stopped clocks.
The girls both sat staring out the window for a moment, dripping bloody water to the ground from their tour soaked clothes. Beth stood up to scrummage through the dresser drawers, looking for something, anything they could still use to address the new wounds they had gotten or anything to change into. They would need to be able to prepare for their next attempt out of this twisted wonderland.
Samantha, shuttering at her own thoughts as to what just might happen to them once they get out there again. Ok, said Samantha softly, I'm just going to lay down for now and try and get some rest while you get ready ok? I can't tell what time it is, I just can't keep my eyes open anymore. then I think we should switch Beth, Sam said, grabbing Beth's arms and looking into her eyes. We need rest. Both of us. So let me know when you are done and we can switch. So we can both keep running.
Smiling softly while looking into Samantha's eyes, Beth pats her on the head and reassures her, yes Sam, i will, i mean might as well right. If we can at any rate. Besides, Beth says with a nervous laugh, the rest will help our bodies regenerate the blood faster. That's what they say right? Or shit, maybe we just won't wake up at all. Either way I feel like we are not left with too many options now.
Wow beth, you know how to be comforting at all the right times don't you, said Samantha with a slight glare.
Chuckling at Samantha, Beth replied. Don't worry Sam, I'm here for you, I'm not going to leave without you. Get rest, I'll be here watching over you.
Yeah ok, well. Don't leave me alone in the room, ok Beth, asked Samantha.
Relax, you'll be fine, I'm here ok, Beth said as she and Samantha laid down in the bed together, I'm right here for you, she said again as she stroked the hair on her sister's head, pulling her tighter to her. Humming a lullaby they heard from their mother.
About 25 minutes later Beth wiggles out of the bed, leaving Samantha asleep. Making her way down to the kitchen, hoping to find a bowl and a towel to start cleaning the wounds they had sustained with. Finding a bowl in a cupboard she then takes it to the sink to get warm water. thinking while it filled up, would she have to die to make sure her sister got out of here? Would either of them make it out? Would she want to make it out alone? Just then realizing the water overflowing, Beth turns the faucet off, she looks up, turning away from the sink, missing the demonic figure in the window glaring at her. Just then the lights go out, Beth hesitates a few moments before dropping the bowl of hot water.
A cold breeze from the crack in the wall started waking Samantha up. Wha- what's going on she thought, why is it so dark and so cold? Samantha struggles to get up in a hurry to check on the tide up men, Samantha yells for Beth. Beth, where are you? It's dark and I can't see you, are you here? Not get a response and growing ever the more eager to hear her sister's voice, Samantha said for a second time, but even louder, Beth where are you!
Just then, faint screams from down the hall began to break in. NO!..NO! Beth yells, AAAAhhh nooooooooooooooo, run Samantha gooo!
Long ago, it was thought that people could, and would do more than just communicate with the devil and his was rumored that in Salem, 1962 on September 26th, a witch like many others during that time, was being hanged that day, a young women named Martha Corey, a kind lady who was so gentle and beautiful, she would often help the sick and play with the children in the village. Martha was an upstanding member of the congregation and often looked for more natural ways to heal the sick, but one day it had all changed for poor Martha, not preparing enough in time for what she had already foreseen comin. Before hanging the sweet wife, mother and healer, Martha Corey cursed them, for all she had done and all she had saved, just for the entire congregation to just turn on her. Her methods were undiscovered by most and still very new, but they always worked, and always helped without consequence. for her last words she swore she would be avenged, that her wrath would be felt by the Priest, the two sisters, the iron worker, the housemaid and her dear friend, who never implicated her as a witch, just stood there and watched as she was falsely accused of witchcraft, cursing every one of them with the demon Akem Manah of Zoroastrian mythology, whose job it was to prevent people from fulfilling their moral duties. Such as being a good person, saving a child and just turning from the bad influences he causes. She promised that one day he would seek vengeance on her behalf and they would all suffer just as they had made her. like most hangings, it was not always efficient, there were often times when the person would hang without a broken neck, till asphyxiation would set in. There were other methods, such as tying a border to a person's foot, gaging them and tying their hands together then tossing them into the water. The only way to prove they were innocent, was to die, otherwise she was a witch. Martha Corey had two little kids of her own, a girl and a boy, who would go on living their lives having families of their own someday, never fully understanding that their mother was not really evil, she was just sacrificed to mankind's greatest fear, a power they could not control or understand…
Several years later, with only one gene pool still going from her ancestral line, we had one single descendant of Martha Corey. Two young girls being raised by their father in main after the passing of their mother. She had a miscarriage in the later stages of her pregnancy to her son. The doctors had tried to save the little boy but wound up losing them both. It tore the family apart which is why they ended up in Main. Samantha and Beth loved their father and knew he would always do his best, but like most kids, they still could find a way to get into trouble of one form or another.
One night while Samantha and Beth were still very young, they were running around their family farm house, a big white and red building parched up on the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean from a couple hundred feet up. The air always felt so cool and smelt so crisp, it was just always so calm there. they had inherited the house from their great grandfather on their mothers side, who left it to them upon their 18th birthday. He had moved from Salem to Maine looking for a new start for his family as well. But on that night that Samantha and Beth decided to explore more, it began to rain something fierce. The flashing of lightning and the smashing and crashing of the thunder, it made the wind howl as if there were tons of people being tortured outside, till they could hear a loud crack followed by an even louder smash! The lightning had struck a tree nearby, breaking off a branch and knocking out the power. The girls screamed running to their dad down the hall and into his arms. Now, now girls, he said, smiling at them in the low light of the storm. There is no need to worry, it's just the lights, your dear old unstoppable dad will go fix it, don't you two worry about a thing. Standing to his feet and rushing out the door the dad made his way to the power box. While he was out Beth decided to make an adventure to help distract Samantha. Samantha catch, Beth said as she tossed her little sister a flashlight, Let's have some fun, she said giggling.
Come onnn, are you coming or what Samantha? Asked Beth, at this rate all the treasure will be eaten by the evil demon king. y-yes, im s-sorry Beth, Samantha said running after bet down the, stopping at the foot of the attic stairs. Looking up at the door with fear and doubt. Beth whimpered Samantha, i don't wanna go up there she said pointing to the attic door….
Oh come on you scaredy cat gestures Beth, this house has been in our family for everrrrr remember, just like ad said, it's safe here. Besides, if our house was like the one in the movie from Ryan's house, it would have put pepper on you and eaten you already.
Bethhhhh, screamed Samantha, why just me, why not you too she asked.
Because Sam, the oldest always lives, we are stronger and smarter, also not afraid of, oh my god Beth yelled! Sam behind you!
Just as Samantha turned around to look, Beth jumped up from behind grabbing her and scaring her. Beth stopppp, you're so mean. Samantha said irritated but slightly relieved.
Ok, ok haha Beth laughed, I'm sorry. But you make it so easy, now that u know its just me here to torment you, can we please go up, pleaded Beth. Dad always says to stay out of there though, Samantha protested. Giggling with excitement Beth looked back at Samantha, who was shaking, holding her flashlight and her stuffed bunny. Ah yesss, but whyy does he want us to always stay out of there? She said as the girls climbed higher, opening the door.
Because Beth, you always get into trouble, you're always getting hurt and he probably thinks you would get yourself killed up here. Samantha said anxiously as she followed her older sister in. can't we just go back down Beth? It's too dark anyway.
Oh Samantha, Beth poked, you're such a scaredy cat, you will never find any gold if you- ow! Beth continues, as she trips over a box in the attic. See Beth, I told you, you always get hurt, cried Samantha. Are you ok? She asked. Beth standing to her feet with an angry glare, snapping at Samantha, shut the up! I'm fine. Taking a deep breath and looking back at her little sister, look I'm sorry ok, just look, come here see what i found, Beth said encouraging her little sister to not be afraid. I-is that mom's asked Samantha?.
Yea, I think you're right, Beth agreed, setting the box down in front of them on the top of an old dusty box. Maybe we should just leave it and go, I think you were right, we shouldn't be here Sammy. Beth said, expressing concern.
No! Wait, I -I mean, well. It's just that, Beth, you hardly remember her right? And I have a few stories from you and dad. So maybe a little look while dads busy won't be so bad? right ? Samantha proclaimed intensely.
Well, won't it make dad sad if he catches us up here with it Sammy? I don't think it's a good idea, maybe we can ask him and he-.
And he what Beth? Interrupted Samantha. You know dad can't talk about mom, he never does. I-i just wanna know more about her, it's not fair. Samantha said in a whimper.
Ok-ok. Said Beth, I got you ok. We will look, but only if you agree that we don't tell dad and everything goes back to how it was. We can come back while dads away at work, deal, Sam? We don't wanna hurt dad silly. we just wanna see mom.
Ok deal Beth, but if you don't bring me back up here with you, I'll tell dad that you wanna kiss Ryan. poked Samantha to Beth.
Just then the power came back on and the girls could hear their dad calling for them. They ran down the stairs and into their fathers arms. He tucked them in later that night and as the girls lay there, they thought about what treasure they would find in that chest. Later that night as the storm cleared and the bright beautiful stars broke through the rain clouds, the girls could hear their father toss and turn in his sleep, crying out for the wind to stop howling. Worried, the girls rolled over and fell back to sleep. That next morning just before the sun peaked out the girls woke to the sound of their dad leaving for work to the refinery. The two girls jumped out of bed and slowly began to head down the hall to the attic…
Hurry! This way, yelled Beth over her shoulder to her little sister. I hope mom has pictures in there, she said. There has to be, its moms right? Asked Samantha, I wonder if we will see any old coins, then it will be just like real treasure. She giggled chasing Beth to the back of the attic where they hid the chest. crawling behind a few stacked boxes, they laid eyes on the red oak chest that they had waited all night to open. It had carved symbols and the family crest on the front and it was so heavy, it took both the girls to pull it out. The girls started opening the chest, Samantha almost unable to keep herself from squealing that Beth had to keep shushing her. But as they opened the chest all the way to get a good look inside, they were disappointed to see it was nothing like they had hoped for. Although they did learn quite a few things that day, leaving even more questions. inside was a couple nice but dusty old robes, under those were a couple books, and one looked to be like a diary. Then they saw some candles and a small copper box with stones in them. Nothing more was in the box that they could see. As they pulled the robes out to look at them, a dried up rabbit's face fell to the ground, scaring the girls so badly Samantha jumped back hitting Beth in the nose with her head.
Ow Sam! What the hell, that hurts, Beth screamed at her sister. S-sorry Beth, it's just, is that a face? Samantha pointed. Yea it is, what do you think it's doing in there? Beth whispered. And before Samantha could reply Beth picked up the face and put it back in the chest. Beth Stop! That is gross Samantha yelled caught off guard but not totally shocked by her. Beth was always strong and brave for Samantha. She had been ever since they lost their mother. Their dad got sick for a little while and it was up to Beth to be there for her. Samantha was so grateful for everything her father and sister had been doing. But still some nights, she wished for her mother.
Relax Sam, it's gone and done, besides I'll wash my hands when we get down the stairs said Beth as she smiled brightly at Samantha. Beth began to open the copper box they had found, lifting the lid trying not to jolt the contents across the room, as she slowly lifted the lid she saw a few stones inside it and under those was a letter. Beth set the lid aside and the girls looked at one another with confusion. Why would mom have these in here? Asked Samantha, and just as Beth was about to respond Samantha saw the green stone, immediately begging Beth to let her keep that one. Beth please let me have the green one, please, you know it's my favorite color, Pleaded Samantha. Ye-yeah sure here take it, Beth said handing over the stone while her eyes stayed locked onto the purple stone sitting in the box. Next to it lay a white stone that looked like all the light had gone from its color, making her think it might have been her mothers. Samantha thanked Beth with not even so much as a glance, it was like she was locked onto the green stone, trying to see what it was trying to show her, deep deep within the stone. Beth, breaking away from her locked gaze, poked Samantha in the gut and joked, what you think your own mother wouldn't know your favorite color? See Sammy, i told you there would be something in here for us, i just wonder what the letter in the box is… it-it has dad's name on it. She trailed off. Holding the paper in her hand now, flipping over from front to back, tempted to open it and read it. Just set it back in the box Beth, it's not for us. What if we get caught reading it? Suggested Samantha.
Just then the doorbell rang. The girls scrambled everything together and put it back in the chest, hiding the stones in their pockets. The doorbell rang again, the girls huffed and puffed as they pushed the chest behind the stacked boxes. Looking at one another they giggled, and the doorbell rang again. Laughing at Beth, Samantha said, oh now I know who it is, I bet you it's Ryan. She said, teasing her. Then darting out to make it down stairs and to the front door before Beth could. Hey come on guys, Ryan yelled out. It's cold out here, can you open the door before I die and you have to tell my dad you killed me. The girls giggled and laughed as they made their way down the hall and down the stairs, just as Samantha went to open the door, Beth grabbed her sleeve. Wait don't open it yet she said, Samantha looking confused asked her why. Well, Beth stammered, how do I look she asked, brushing her bangs out of her face. Samantha broke out in laughter, oh i see Beth she teased, its Beth and Ryan sitting in a tree-.
Stop it Beth yelled shoving her sister aside reaching for the door. you're such a troll she whispered to her ash she went to open the door. beautiful , Samantha yelled really fast, you look beautiful Beth, you always do she said smiling at her older sister. Besides, I bet he doesn't even like, likes girls yet, so don't worry. She said, trying to help. Come on losers, it's cold out here! Yelled Ryan, why are you two so damn slow? I'm going to die out here! Can you live with that? Beth opened the door shooting Ryan a glare, you won't die you big baby, she poked, what if we had fallen running down here to you and broke our necks, what would you do? She asked, then you would never see my face ever again. How would that make you feel? Ryan looking for an answer was interrupted when Samantha broke past Beth giving Ryan a hug and pulling him inside by the hand. I'm so glad you're here Ryan, Beth is too but she won't tell you, Samantha said, smiling up at Ryan, making him a little uncomfortable. Shut the hell up Sam, Beth said, punching Samantha in the arm. Ow Beth, I was just kidding, that hurt you know. Samantha said, rubbing her arm, looking back at Ryan, any ways you will never guess what we found. She said overflowed with joy. Sam no, said Beth, we don't know when dad will be home, what if we get caught up there. We should wait, what are you thinking? Laughing at the girl's secrecy Ryan interjected, what? Did you find a dead body or something and now you just poke it and stair at it? If so, I'm good. I can be left out of that, he said , smiling at the girls. Beth, meeting Ryan's gaze, looked him in the eyes, real deep, pausing and taking a deep breath, she whispered to him, no Ryan, it much, much deeper and darker than that. She says with a sinister laugh. Nervous now and not sure if coming by today was a good idea, Ryan chuckled, dun dun dun, dorks. Please I'm not afraid of anything you're not. So come on what is it he persisted. Ok fine Beth said, looking back and forth between the two, but this is our secret no one else and we have to be fast, who knows when dad will be home. Deal!
Deal, both Samantha and Ryan agreed. I'll never tell anyone anything you guys don't want me to, Ryan added, you can always trust me. Giggling, the girls began to run up the stairs yelling for Ryan to not be so damn slow….
Three days prior to the incidents at the cottage that left terror stained into the world, or at least, they think it was three days. Never knowing how long they were really in the cottage before they noticed everything, All the horrific events that followed upon their arrival. In Scottsdale Arizona, where four of the eight people about to end up in the worst nightmare they could have lived.
I don't give a FUCK what you think, don't you get it screamed Josh into the phone. I am in charge not you, we will do it my way and no other, do you get it! Or I will make what's left of your miserable life a you get me?! I am not the person you want to piss off! I know more people then your entire worthless fucking family josh yells as he slams the phone down while grunting aggressively over his frustrating call. That fucking moron he says to him self as he sits in his chair, grabbing his glass of whiskey, running his finger over the brim. He seems to forget his place around her, Josh mutters to himself. He is headed for a lesson he WON'T come back from. Looking deep into his glass as he sits in his office. Josh sets the glass aside standing up from his seat. Ryan won't be happy to hear about this. He sighs, making his way out to Ryan's office.
In a low lit office at the back of the floor, a printer spits out a stack of papers as Ryan sits and sips on his small glass of bourbon. Just then a knock at his door, come in he yells out, as he sets the picture in his hand down and looks up to the door. The door slowly creaked open, hello sir, Josh said, raising his eyes to Ryan's. I have some really rather upsetting news about the Y division's lead Marcus. It would seem he no longer wishes to cooperate, he claims he will be making a case with the FBI agent from the other day if we don't pay him a rather hefty fee.
Hmm, thought Ryan out loud. What a shame that is, yes indeed. Thank you Mr. Taz, I'll take it from here, he said shooting Josh an upsetting look. Certainly sir, I'll just be in my office if you need anything else, Josh said, turning to head out. No-no, not yet Ryan said looking back at his desk, well actually josh he said. Yes sir answered Josh turning around to see Ryan with a stack of papers in his hand. Do you have next week set up yet? Ryan asked. No sir, not just yet replied josh, I have been a little distracted with our y decision problem, I apologies said josh bowing halfway to -no, that's good, we should push the fun back a little while till Marcus has been dealt with, said Ryan smiling at josh. Of course sir, replied Josh, would you like me to hold onto the names I have collected or would you prefer to see them now? He asked. Yes, I'll take them now, Ryan said, smiling a very sinister smile to josh. Just because we are busy doesn't mean we can't get ready for a good time, right brother? He said laughing. Josh matched with an equally sinister laugh, of course sir, ill fax them right over as soon as I get to my office, replied josh, turning around walking out of the office. Josh walks back down the hall to his office, passing the red headed secretary as he walks. Hello dear, I hope you're not working too hard now, he said with a slight chuckle as he passed her. Always Mr. Taz, the secretary yelled after him as she blushed. Once in his office Josh sat down at his desk, opening a file and looking through the contents. He then walks to the fax machine, placing the pieces of paper one by one on his fax machine and continues to send them over to Ryan, all while having a very upsetting and disturbing grin on his low lit face. One that would make a baby cry. Just then the phone on his desk rang. Josh sat down answering the phone. Yes he answers coldly, what can I do for you? Sorry to bother you sir, the secretary responds, but your wife is here to see you, shall i send her in? Josh sighing with discontent, no, tell her i will be out momentarily, I'm in an important conference at the moment. Certainly sir, the secretary says as she hangs up the phone.
Ryan Lu and Josh Taz go way back to when they were kids. Josh moved in with Ryan and his family as a child. josh's dad was put away for torturing his wife and then setting her on fire in front of josh. Killing her then himself. Ryan and his family moved to Maine a few weeks after Josh came to live with them, knowing Josh since his birth the family felt he was one of their own. So moving to Maine would be the best option for Josh, they felt. Maybe getting him away from the reminders of his past could help him live a brighter future. For a while it worked too, Josh was able to be a kid for a time. It was him and Ryan for a little while till they met Beth and Samantha. Two very pretty and kind young girls that quickly became their best friends. The kids would meet at the farm house, heading down to the ocean side and toss stones into the water while talking about going to the countryside together. the summers were the best for a long time, till they all started to get older and the boys started to pull away. Josh and Ryan began to distance themselves from the girls, without so much as a word why. It wasn't till their senior year that the group reconnected, the boys had always loved the girls, but there were things going on that they felt would be best if the girls were not a part of. By the time they graduated from college the two young men had made relationships with the two lovely women, and although josh had insisted on being alone in his life to avoid ending up like his father, Ryan assured josh that the best way to live your life is with the people that can help and keep you safe. So therefore the safest move would be, to be with his childhood friend, who Josh had fallen in love with and who fell in love with him.
Meanwhile in Helena Montana, Shay, Tina and Samuel were living their own lives in an apartment off Helena avenue and Rodney street. Having no clue who Josh, Ryan, Samantha or Beth were, or that they would all soon be tied into a nightmare together. The three were just living their own lives when Tina and Samuel came up with an idea they felt would help their friend shay…
In a warm lit classroom, little kids ran around their desks, laughing and playing tag when a teacher walked in. okay class, time for carpet, everyone gathered around now please, asked shay red warmly and gleamingly at her students. Now Katherine, can you give me an example of a proper now? She asked the curly blond girl closest to her. Well, um. Katherine hesitated, a person and a uh- place and um- a thing, maybe. She said, lowering her head with embarrassment. Very good Katherine, Shay said, reaching down to lift the child's chin up. Now can you give me an example of one? She asked, smiling at the child. Um, my mommy Katherine said giggling. Very well done Katherine, shay said, your mother is a great example. So now tell me, what job would you like this week? We have line leader, door holder, paper collector and pass out, hallway monitor and helper, where you can go around helping other students when you are finished with your work. Oh, I wanna be a hall monitor this week, please Ms. Red, the little girl said excitedly. Giggling to herself, Shay gave the girl her duty for the week and moved on to the boy across from her. Okay David, now can you give me an example of an action word?
Shay Red was a very kind but shy girl, although she had not always been that way. She was once very outgoing with a big sense of humor, however like tragic events will do, they stained her hopes and dreams black. Shay grew up with a wealthy family, always moving and visiting their summer house in the woods, till the year she turned 16.
Her family took the same annual trip to the summer house, but this time it was only shay that would be leaving. Her parents would vanish without a trace and traumatized shay would be found half frozen to death by the police. She then would go live with Tina, her childhood friend, they would go to school with Samuel till they graduated college, which by then the crew would be inseparable. It helped that Tina, Shay and Samuels families knew one another all the children's lives. Tina and shay then got an apartment close to work, where Samuel then moved in with them. Shortly after shay turned 18, she inherited everything her family had left behind, and that's when she just shut all the way down. She was never the same again after that. She pushed everyone but Tina and Samuel away, buried herself in her work and never tried to reach out to any one other than her students again. Shay was a kindergarten teacher and lived close to the campus, her roommates and best friends were also teachers. Tina was a scientist who taught at the university near their apartment, and Samuel was a professor of archeology.
Meanwhile back at the apartment, Tina and Samuel were talking about shay and maybe a way to help. Well, stated Tina, you know we could always just take Shay ourselves, I honestly think it will help with the night terrors she said looking concerned at Samuel. She needs closure Samuel, and what better than her two best friends to help her get through it? You know, before she hurts herself, or you… or even worse, me! The world would wither and die without me, Tina stated dramatically. I mean after all the world needs me, it draws breath from my breath and life from my life, she said glaring at Samuel in a gesturing manner, giggling. No but really Samuel, what do you think? Wow- just uh, wow Tina as always. Haha. What, now your mother nature? All because you're trying to figure out how to farm underwater? Samuel said, laughing at her. regenerative ocean farming, Samuel. You need to get it right, Tina said seriously. Ok-ok, just relax. It's just that I don't know, Tina. Sometimes the psyche does things to protect itself and i don't want to be the reason she breaks, i want to help her too, i-i just think that is a big step to push on her, Samuel said looking away, worried Tina walked over and placed her hand on his shoulder, look, Sam, she said. It's been ten years now, and all she is doing is pushing to be alone. Do you want that for her? I don't. She is getting worse, not better. So we have to do something.
Well i think we should wait, let the police solve the case, then we go back with the whole full closure thing, and she won't be afraid of being attacked while she is there. Samuel detested. you know as well as i do, if they have no one now, they may never have anyone, i don't understand why you are being difficult Tina said trying to laugh it off. Besides, if you were hurt Shay would do whatever she could for you. Fine! I'll do it, I'll go, but if she breaks down it's all your fault. I will let everyone know how I strongly advised against this and you ignored my warnings, or mother of healing and growing. Samuel snapped as he turned away. Hahaa Samuel, stop being such a pussy, how weak do you think she is? Fine it's on me ok.? Tina said, leaning into Samuel for a hug. Okay good, glad you know he said as he hugged Tina. Just then Tina whispered in Samuel's ear, that goes for when it works as well, Sammy boy. Tina then pats Samuel on the check as she pulls away laughing. Then I'll use my nature powers to fossilize you as payback. Wouldn't that be fitting?
Tina Field was a great person who came from a very loving and kind family. Honest and hardworking, her parents taught the kids everything they knew and had other people teach them what they didn't. Her mother and father were well known in Helena Montana for running shelters and helping with police investigations. Even as adults Tina and her brother still had the help and love of their parents. Tina was grateful for her life growing up, knowing she had it all and knowing it could have gone a different way like others have. Although her parents wanted to support her every step of the way Tina insisted on working hard on her own, falling down with her friends there to help her get back up, she wanted to the fullest out of her life, and she was gonna work hard for it, just like her mom and dad did. Samuel was not too far off himself, his father was a respected scientist in the field of archeology. That's where you could say Samuel got interested in the field. His mother had passed away from cancer when he was just too young to remember, so he had his whole life to get close to his dad, and that's what they did, like two peas in a pod. They would go excavations together and Samuel would invite his dad to parties with him when he was in college. Samuel and his dad had good times, and not so good times, but his dad would always look at him and say, ''son, your mother would be proud of you, you turned out just as she had hoped, honest and kind.'' not like Samuel remembered her, but he did know she gave him all the love in the world when she was alive thanks to the stories and pictures from his dad. That and seeing how madly in love with her his father still was, even in her death, gave him all he needed to know. Samuel wished he had gotten to know her, but he was so glad that he still had his father and his two best friends.
In an ever farther away place, there was a strange but handsome man named Preston Clear. Preston lived alone in an old manor and on the family inheritance he had in Springfield, Illinois near w Lawrence avenue and S. Park avenue. Preston kept mostly to himself, not liking anyone to visit, let alone allowing anyone to. He was very shy but strong, and very respectful, he knew his manors and always up held his own honor. When Preston was only twelve years old, he saw his entire family brutally murdered, his mother, father, two brothers and his little sister. He barely escaped with his own life and was convinced that he was spared for a reason, and unless he found that reason. His family, his sister, would be stuck in the manor being tortured for the rest of eternity. Unable to reach the outside world, forced to relive the night over and over again. Preston lay sleeping on the couch down stairs next to the fireplace, with a glass or rum sitting next to an empty bottle. The window blows open with the cold night wind howling through the manor, waking Preston up from a nightmare.
Wiping away the tears from his face he sits up, still drunk from his blunder and a little confused. He whispers to himself, I'm so sorry little sister, i-i should have been stronger, faster, something damn it. I-i just need to know you guys are not going to be stuck here forever, that I can get you out and safe. That you guys aren't being-. Tortured, he said with his voice braking, That's the least i can do.
On a night like no other, a fierce storm rolled in hitting the manor and starting the events that would forever change Preston's life. The lightning flashed and the thunder cracked, the wind with all its furry howled as if an animal was having its teeth ripped out, one by one, when the family could hear a smash outside the house. The lightning had struck a branch and with all the force of the wind it smashed into the power box, knocking off all the power. The children screamed as the mother and father looked at one another, giggling at the little ones. Now dears, it's alright, you big brave father will venture out into the storm and fix the power, have no fear. Preston's mother said, picking up the little girl who was trying to bury herself into her mothers gown. She then looked over at the boys smiling at them, no need to worry, it's just a storm, let's play a little game while we wait for your dad. That's an amazing idea, love, the father said looking at his wife, placing one hand on her shoulder and his other on his daughters back, slowly rubbing it. He then glanced at his boys, now you boys need to be men for your mom and sister while I'm out. I have to see if it smashed our power box, and if so I'll have to go down into the basement and start the backup generator. And with that their father headed outside, grabbing his flash light and rain coat. The family then began to move to the dining hall where they had a fireplace to the back right corner. Just then the door slammed open with leaves and rain powering its way through, the girls screamed for a second. Wooo-wooo, come now ladies, Preston's father said. It's just me, it looks like I'll be headed down into the basement then. Looking at the mom and the little girl still in her arms with a smile. I hope these boys are keeping you ladies safe he said laughing as he looked at his sons huddled together. Y-yes dad, I got it, I'll keep all of them safe, right here, Preston's older brother shouted. That's my boy, his father said, patting him on the head. Now this should not take too long, I'll be back up momentarily. The family sat around the fire talking about the next day to come as Preston's dad headed down into the basement, leaving the basement door wide open. Preston kept looking at it, feeling like something in the void was watching them, waiting for them. He would look at the dark hallway, pass the door and then back at his mother and sister. Preston his mother asked, are you alright dear boy? It's your turn to tell a story. Yes mother, I'm well, I was just thinking of something that would not scare everyone too badly. And just as Preston went to begin his story, the basement door slammed shut. And the family jolted to their feet, it was just the wind their mother assured them, I'll just go open the door back up for your father. B-but mom, the windows and front door are shut, there is no wind, said the frightened little girl in her arms. Just then they could hear a blood curdling scream coming from the other side of the door. RUN! Their father yelled in anguish as his body was heard making brutal sounds of bones cracking vigorously in various places, run now! Run and hide! They heard him yell, just before a horrific thud noise banged on the basement door. Petrified they stood there for a few moments, just then Preston's oldest brother began shoving every one to the kitchen, yelling for every one to run and hide…..
Preston's mother still holding his little sister, grabbed her youngest son by the wrist and started running toward the kitchen where Preston and his oldest brother stood watching them, waiting for them to get closer, only looking at each other for a moment before they heard the blood curdling screams, they looked back at their mother, seeing that just behind her, their little brother had been torn from her hand and was being ripped in half by something big, something invisible, suspending his body in the air, his blood showered down over the mother and the little girl in her arms as her little girl began to scream in pure terror. Her mother being too terrified to move, heart broke for her son and just in all around disbelief, wouldn't move, she just stood there watching with terror. Not seeing what it was but seeing a dark mist getting closer and closer to her, the little girl screamed again, this time for Preston. Preston help me please, she cried, jolting him out of his frozen state. he then began running toward them, yelling for his mother to move, that's when his mother turned to look at him, tears and fear in her eyes, she muttered something he couldn't hear, then she tossed the little girl in her arms at him, never once trying to move, trying to run. She just stood there and waited. Preston, barely catching his little sister, buried her head into his chest as the entity grabbed their mother. Slamming her body into the walls, back and forth back and forth, making an awful thud sound till her body went limp and fell to the ground. Just as Preston stood to run he saw his mothers head get smashed in by some unseen entity. In disbelief at what was going on, Preston managed to turn to his older brother in the kitchen and yelled for him to go. His older brother just yelled for him to get their sister and go hide. But Preston refused to lose anyone else. Preston pleaded, you don't have to die like that, he said , grabbing his brother by the sleeve and pulling him along. You come or we stay, he yelled, so let's go!. Hesitant his older brother began to move his feet, and the entity began drawing in even faster. Making a run for it the kids made it up the stairs into a dark bedroom, that's when his older brother began to act differently. His eyes grew wild and his body became rapid with indices movements. He began muttering to himself real low at first. He turned slowly to Preston and their little sister, blaming Preston for everything, trying to compromise with whatever was doing this. What are you doing brother? Asked Preston frantically, what the hell are you doing he yelled. You're being crazy, nothing is going to help us, we have to hide. But Preston's brother grew louder, pointing wildly at them, shouting into the air, TAKE THEM, IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, THEN TAKE THEM, JUST PLEASE LET ME GO! I didn't do anything, He went on. Heather, Preston's little sister was terrified, confused. She dug her face into Preston's chest even more, pleading with their older brother John to stop. That's when John lost it, he muttered to himself, well if you won't do it, I'll do it for you. That's what you want isn't it? He yelled as he grabbed an old fashioned Chinese hair pin off the table next to him. Making his way toward Preston and heather fast aiming for heather when Preston pushed heather to the side and tripped john into the closet that was open behind the two. Preston then reached for his mother's brass jewelry box that was on the shelf just in the closet, and he wacked his brother in the head as hard as he could. John, he whispered, are you ok? He bent down to see if he was still breathing, heather too afraid to look, turned around and asked if he was dead, just then Preston asked her to get him rope so they could tie him up before he woke. Heather looked around and grabbed the sheets off the bed, handing them to Preston. She looked down at John and started to cry. Was he going to kill us Preston? Why would he want to do that? She asked. No-no heather, he was just confused, he said hesitantly. He would never hurt you, now we need to lock him in here to keep him safe, then we need to leave and get help. Preston told Heather as he and her walked out of the closet closing the door behind them. I'm glad you're ok Preston, she said looking up at him grabbing his hand with her tiny trembling hand. I'm glad you're ok as well, he said pulling her in for a hug. Now listen, john has blankets on him and he is unconscious, so he should be ok, we will lock this door in case he wakes up before we get back. But Preston, Heather asked with tears in her little blue eyes will he be ok? Not that I'm not afraid of John, I just don't want him to get hurt. I'm sure Heather, we can't help him from here Preston told his little sister. Preston and Heather quickly headed out the bedroom and down the hall, as quietly as they could. Headed for the kitchen when heather tripped over a piece of wood making a slight noise, barely grabbing onto Preston in time before falling to the ground. They both stood there in fear for what seemed like ages, waiting for something to get them. Finally Preston took a breath and told Heather that they should go one before they really do get caught. Making their way through the kitchen, Preston tried his best to keep Heather from seeing the smashed head and torn torso of her loved ones. Heather then whimpered to Preston, we're going to make it out, aren't we big brother, clutching his shirt even tighter, seeing the front door slowly approaching through the space between Preston's shirt and her arm. Almost at the door he assured her, in a few steps we are going to make a run for it ok. We can do this heater, Preston told her, clutching her tight before trying to make a brake for it. Hoping that they can just make the ten feet and get out the door, praying it would open, that someone could save them. you ready? Preston asked his sister. Yes brother. I'm ready when you are. She replied, smirking at him with assurance. Just as they went to make a run for it, their father had stepped right in front of the door. The two jolted to a halt, scared with thoughts racing. Where the hell did he come from, Preston thought, how the hell did I not see him? Is that even him, i thought he was dead, he definitely sounded like he was being killed just like mom was. Why is he blocking the door? These thoughts screamed simultaneously in Preston's mind, meanwhile health was not in the slightest happy to see her father. Pulling at Preston's hand she uttered to him, should we run? Ten feet from the door Preston thought, we should have ran for it, what the hell was I thinking! He looked down to Heather and back at his father, not sure what was going to happen next. The two let out a scream as their father started to approach them, his legs bent in weird ways and making a grinding sound with every step. His right arm was ripped off and his left was bent in a way that made it look like he wanted to shake your hand, from behind him. His neck was kinked to the side with a part of his clavicle sticking out. His jaw was ripped off, poor pools of blood out and yet he could be heard clearly.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SHIT PRESTON, YOU LEAVE ME IN THE BASEMENT, TIE UP YOUR BROTHER, he yelled as he stepped over the torso of his middle child, and passed the smashed head of his wife. He then stopped looking down at her brains all over the floor. AND LOOK AT THIS MESS! He continued, looking up at Preston and heather. NOW YOUR MOTHER HAS A HEADACHE! NO-NO he said, lowering his voice. You two aren't going out to play, he chuckled. No, you need to be taught a lesson! Time for your punishment he howled as he made a run for Preston and heather. Run! Screamed heather as she was headed back up the stairs. Preston, frozen and couldn't move, was just thinking about what was going to happen once his dad got his hands on him. By now his dad had cracked all his bones in place, looking at Preston with a dark sinister look. Grinning as his arm bent back in place and as his neck began to stand right up instead of its odd angle. He had gotten so close all he had to do was reach out his arm and place a finger on him. Hearing a scream from the top of the stairs, Preston and his deceased father paused and looked to see what the commotion was. It was heather, standing there with her tiny knees clanking and her shaky hands holding their dad's 45 caliber pistol. Upon seeing the gun in the young girls inexperienced hands, Preston hit the floor, just as Heather fired three shots. Hitting Preston in the shoulder with one, the door with another and her fathers forehead, right in the middle with the other one. Preston yelled in pain, now spewing out blood, he struggled to his feet still in shock, barely making his way to his sister, who by now was crying and apologizing. Grabbing both his sister and the gun he began making a run back down the hall to their mom and dad's room. I'm so sorry Preston, are you going to be ok she wailed. Tear and snot sloping down her face, her short curly blonde hair covered in blood. No heather, he said looking at her, placing a hand over her whimpering mouth. You did good, I'll be ok I promise you. You saved my life heather, now we got to be quiet. As he said that he noticed the closet door was unlocked and opened. Heather, following his gaze gasped, Preston the door, she pointed. I know he whispered to her, just don't move yet, let me think. Preston she asked hesitantly, how did dad know we tied up john? I-i don't know he answered, I'll go check on him, you stay here in case he's un-tide, i don't want you getting in the way ok. Ok she whispered, leaning back into the corner behind the bed. Preston slowly approached the closet door, grabbing the lamp that was on the ground next to him, just in case. As he drew in closer he began to prepare himself, seeing what was inside he ran and locked the door, breathing heavily at the sight and trying not to alert his sister. There was so much blood you couldn't see any other color, even in the dark, his body was ripped apart and his head was hanging from a hanger, still dripping blood. what is it, heather asked panicked, is john ok she demanded to know. Preston answered me! Preston turned around slowly forcing a grin with a fake sigh, no its ok, he is still as we left him heather, now shhh before we get spotted ok. Preston made his way to Heather, bringing her into a hug, trying to hide the fact that he was crying and terrified. That's when Heather looked up at him and said something he would never forget.
But we will get to that later, said me. The narrator. Chuckling at the suspense you will have to endure. Now back to our friends, Josh and Ryan, and that nasty little y division problem they have.
The day following the Marcus issue in the y division,, Ryan had set up a "solution" to their problem. Although Ryan had very few concerns, he still wanted to proceed with caution and make sure all knots were tied. So as he sat in his office going over the details, Josh's phone began to ring in his office.
Josh walks over to answer it with a cold, yes, oh hello Damián. No, I have strict orders from Mr. Lu. just do it ok, I don't have time for this, that's why we pay you. He said, continuing on, look my bitch wife has this dinner plan and I have to be there, so it's just you and zig this time. Now go and don't mess it up, I have a call on the other line. Report back when you're done. The plan is in motion so unless you want to play a deadly game as well, I strongly suggest you get a move on it. Josh then clicks the phone line over and answers with a warm, hello, what is it, I'm in a very important conference. Oh I'm so sorry sir, his secretary says. Mr. Taz, Mr. Lu would like you in his office for an emergency meeting right away sir. Let him know I'm on my way now please, Josh said as he hung up on her. Unsure of the urgency, Josh headed out down the hall to Ryan's office, knocking rather impatiently on the door. Ryan looking up from his monitor on the other side of the door yelled out, ah josh, yes please come in. Josh opened the door and closed it behind him. Josh said Ryan warmly, come have a set please. Did you get the memo Josh asked Ryan, looking around to see if Ryan had the file out. I sure did, he replied, smiling at josh. I'm just wondering if Damian and Zig are in place and ready. Yes sir, Josh assured him, Marcus will be off work in two hours and we already asked his wife yesterday if she would stay late today, So his wife won't be home when he gets home. What about the children Ryan persisted, they won't be home either will they? Yes sir, Damián and zig are aware, they were told no harm should come to the kids and they were not to make any contact. They plan to pick Marcus up from the back yard, one of them will make some ruckus while the other grabs him when he comes to investigate. They will knock him out with chloroform and then move him before completing the job. Where are they thinking? asked Ryan. They are going to the spot, that way it just becomes another missing persons case. Replied josh. Perfect confirmed Ryan, we will just wait on our own personal rendezvous for 3 or 4 weeks, just in case the feds come poking back around. Sounds like a plan to me boss, should we double check our plans tonight just to make sure nothing will lead back to us? Asked Josh with a light grin. Damian is hacking Marcus's computer as well as his phone as we speak. He is going to wipe anything that little slime was hiding and see who all he reached out to, Josh informed Ryan.
Bwahaha bellowed Ryan, perfect he said as he tapped his fingers on his desk, holding his glass of bourbon with the other. Although Josh interjected, there is a slight bump in our future plans. Ohhh, Ryan asked, curious as to what would make Josh put his favorite hobby aside. Samantha and your dear Beth, Josh stated. They Have decided that we should all go out for a family dinner, then escape on a family fun retreat he stated. To a cottage in north Carolina, near some fucking natural hot spring. That's perfect up roared Ryan, set the dates now before anything with Marcus goes through. Then we will have our listed guests over before we head out. Giving us an alibi for everything, he laughed evilly. Looking at Josh and saying, you got to love our women and their blissful ignorance. Yes chuckled josh, you really do. I'll get on it now sir, Josh said as he headed to the door. oh and josh, ryan added, dont forget to make some ruckus about it to the secretary on you way out. yes sir, josh replyed glancing over his shoulders. his scarlet red eyes piercing through the low lit room. josh turned away laughing as he started a conversation with the secretary....
