Dear Readers... Something has been brought to my attention. It is a fact that I was well aware of, but as I do not want to appear \'foolish\' and/or ill-informed to my readers, I feel the need to clarify my reasons for straying so far from the truth.
Ellis Island has in fact been renovated and turned into a museum for the publics viewing enjoyment, and the history there is incomparable. The suggestion was made that I perhaps consider using \'Governor\'s Island\' which has been off limits to the public for 200 years or so, and is therefore an abandoned site that would \'suit\' my needs, but the whole immigration issue/sense of time and passage of so many different countrymen would be completely lost. The feelings that I struggled to create in the building cannot be duplicated inside of a place that was not touched by that time of history... it does not suit my needs.
So, I offer my deepest apologies for the those whose sense of \'rightness\' in the history of things I have offended, but I needed the island to be abandoned for \'my\' story. The street addresses and such that I am using within the fiction are completely ficticous as well... I set and pull them out of my head. If I were writing a novel to send for publication I would spend more time on exact details such as that. As it is, I spend hours a day researching languages, combat dynamics, sword techniques, guns, and whatever else I desire to write into my stories in an effort to make them more realistic and enjoyable. That I do for my readers because I care about the quality of what I write. But... I am writing because it fills my days when I would otherwise be lanquishing in bed suffering with the pain and fatigue of my illnesses. It is never my intention to offend... or disappoint.
My stories come from my imagination, my heart, and my soul. They are what I make of them... should I ever choose to publish... I assure you I intend upon being much more \'realistic\' with my historical, factual, and geographical details. But for now... I am writing the fantasies that are bouncing around in my head... and I am writing them the way I want to. I do not intend to offend anyone. I just want to write stories people will read.
For now... for me... in this story... Ellis Island is abandoned and in a state of disentegration. That is the way it has to be... Forgive the incongruity to the truth, but this is only Fanfiction, and it is was the finest hideout in New York/Manhatten that could be had for what I needed it to be... and this story has been screaming at me to be written in one form or another for sometime... Catti-dono gave the idea full fruitation and me the courage to finally write it.
It is AU... all the way... and Fantasy. Just try to enjoy it. It isn\'t supposed to be real.
