did you think?
thank you so much for such winderful reviews. it really means a lot
Hatori woke in a sore cramped position and rolled over to see Shigure sleeping quietly behind him. His right arm out to the side to create a pillow for both of them. Hatori studied his face and he realized then how beautiful Shigure really was. His black hair fell over his face slightly to curl around the thin neck and brush the tops of his shoulders slightly. He reached out gently and pulled the piece of hair covering Shigure’s eyes away he rested his hand slightly on Shigure’s cheek to rub his thumb over the high placed cheek bone. His skin was soft and silky to his touch. He smiled slightly as a slight noise came out of his mouth and he nuzzled into Hatori’s touch.
He curled closer to Shigure’s body feeling protected when he was so close to his long time friend. Shigure sighed in his sleep and wrapped his arms around Hatori tightly pulling him close. Hatori was surprised where they’re hips touched afraid almost for a second that he would turn and Shigure would be angry. He opened his eyes and sighed. He hadn’t been held like this in so long. He closed his eyes as he felt the tears prickle the back of his eyes. He slowly wrapped his arm around Shigure’s rib cage and curled around him pressing his ear tightly to the chest the held one of the warmest hearts he had ever seen or known.
Shigure had woken up at the first signs of his Dragon moving under his arm. He held his eyes closed though knowing that Hatori didn’t want to deal with anything right now. He felt soft fingers on his face that almost ghosted over it like he was afraid of disturbing him he wanted to smile but schooled his face to calm and not smile but he did allow himself a contented noise and to nuzzle into the touch. He felt the arm close around his ribcage and then he did the thing that Shigure expected the least he curled up and rested his head against his chest. I tightened my arm around him wanting Hatori to feel as safe as he possibly could. He had never actually fully forgiven Yuki for telling Hatori he was as cold as the snow. Because he’s far warmer then people would ever imagine. Akito had just taught him that it was acceptable. I sighed and closed my eyes and fell asleep again.
Haru groaned and held his head wondering why he had a headache. Shaking his head he sat up and walked out of the room and into the kitchen finding that he was hungry for green apples. He walked in and grabbed the apple out of the basket and smiled rubbing it against his shirt to make it shine. Momiji bounded into the room and came over to Haru with a smile. “So how is Kyo?” He asked with a bright smile.
Haru blinked and looked down at Momiji. “Who is that?”
“You know Kyo, you’ve had a crush on him since you where little. He tried to kill himself.”
“That’s sad but I still don’t know who you’re talking about.” He said calmly and looked at Momiji.
Momiji’s face fell. “Haru are you telling me that you know were you were for the past months?” He asked frightened.
“Of course I know where I was. I was on a vacation.” He smiled and walked out of the room.
Momiji looked at Haru’s back and whispered. “What have you done?”
Sighing he closed his eyes and wished in vane for everything to be back the way it was before. He made his way down the hall and into his room. How could things ever be ok? Kyo hated everyone again, Haru had forgotten his love for the orange cat, and Yuki felt badly about what happened Hatori’s probably pulling himself apart on the inside while Shigure watched helplessly from the side. He shook his head again fighting the tears.
Even if it wasn’t great being part of this family it was better then not being here at all. Sighing he wished there was something to do and then it came to him. He turned around before he even got to his room and ran out of the house and down the road letting his speed carry him to the hospital to Kyo’s room slamming the door open he ran to the bed.
Kyo jerked surprised by the loud noise. He turned and listened to the heavy breathing.
“How could you?” An angry voice asked.
Kyo was confused by the voice not ever hearing it before. “I think you have the wrong person.”
“No I have the right person.” Momiji growled.
He knew Haru’s heartache better then anyone else because of his mother when he was young and forgotten about after being called a monster.
“Momiji?” He questioned softly.
“Just tell me why you did it Kyo.” He demanded.
“Do what you annoying brat?” He asked tired of this conversation.
“Broke Haru’s heart so badly he had to forget you to be ok?” he questioned. “Was it because you’re miserable so he should be too?” He demanded urgently. “Or is it cause you truly hate the only one that loves you more then his own life?” His voice pitched higher. “Do you know what it’s like to be forgotten?” He screamed. “How much it hurts when you look at them and they don’t know who the hell you are?” Tears started streaming down his face. “How much it hurts Ha-ri every time he has to put his hand up to someone’s face and erase the memories they hold dear to them?” his voice started to break under the strain of his emotions. “Do you even care?” He demanded in one last broken vocalization.
“Why should I?” He asked. “Why should I care? No one has cared about me ever.” He bit out and wished that Momiji would go away. He wasn’t supposed to care but most of all he wasn’t supposed to get angry.
“Haru loved you.” Momiji hissed.
“No he loves Yuki the prince.” Kyo corrected.
“No you idiot he loves you for the love of god Kyo he’s stayed by your side for months, he didn’t sleep for days on end watching you making sure you were ok.” Momiji snapped.
“He’s better this was.” Kyo said quietly.
“No he’s not Kyo.” Momiji whispered tears still running down his face. “No matter how much my memories of my mother hurt me I don’t erase them you wanna know why?” he asked in a soft voice that was laden with sadness.
“Fine.” Kyo snapped not wanting to hear the cheerful blond so sad.
“Because no matter how bad they hurt I still have them.” He whispered. “Because I have something rather then nothing, rather then having lies and a broken heart I’m not aware of. I was called a monster by my mother when I was 5. I watched her almost die because of her memories of me.” He collapsed to the floor. “Because I want to believe that in the end it will be ok, that I’ll still have something when the pain isn’t so bad, so that I can remember my mother smiling without me.” He choked on his words. “Because when it’s over I’ll remember I tried my hardest to make her happy.” He whispered.
“Why are you telling me this?” Kyo whispered.
“Because now you’re the forgotten you are just like me now. You won’t be remembered again. Haru will never look at you and smile like he did before. He will never care about you again Kyo. He will never understand anymore. You have made yourself truly alone.” Momiji whispered and looked at the floor. “And I hope that makes you happy because two broken people don’t make a whole one. I wish you could have seen his face Kyo.” He looked up at him and felt his eyes water as he remembered the horribly wasted look on Haru’s face. “Tell me Kyo, do you want to die alone?”
Kyo looked away. “It’s best if everyone just forgot me.” He clutched the blanket tightly in his hands.
“You don’t mean that.” Momiji whispered. “You don’t want to be alone. You never have Kyo. Haru knew that and that’s why he stayed close to you.” He answered softly. “But now you have nothing so what are you going to do Kyo?” He questioned lightly. “Are you going make Haru love you again or are you going to be alone again.” He asked.
“I don’t want,” He started and then paused and closed his eyes. “He let Hatori do it he held me down even when I begged him not to.”
“And did you think about Haru even once?” Momiji asked. “Did you think at all about how happy Haru was to see you happy and know that it was going to get taken away from you. Do you know how much that hurt him because he wanted to protect you from your own memories?” He asked his voice soft and gentle. “Did you even once think about that?” He stood and walked over to the bed to sit on the corner of it and gather Kyo’s hand into his smaller once. “Don’t you remember the way Haru smiled when you talked to him?” He stroked Kyo’s hand. “How he would get just a little closer to you and pay attention to every word you said. Every word that fell from your lips was precious to him. And now he won’t have that. All the years you gave him sideways compliments aren’t there.” Momiji said. “All those times you picked him up after Yuki cut him down.” He whispered. “Kyo your far more to Haru then you ever would have believed.”
He stood and dropped Kyo’s hand onto the white sheets uncaringly. “Make yourself comfortable in the land of the forgotten because now that you’re here, you will never leave again.” He turned. “Welcome to the land where no one cares about you.” He threw over his shoulder. “And make sure you know how to steel yourself because you will need it.” He opened the door and slipped out.
Kyo closed his eyes and rubbed his hands where the overly warm small hands had been.
‘Welcome to the land where no one cares about you.’ He heard Momiji’s words ring loudly in his ears.
He sighed and thought when the door opened again. “Kyo?” a soft voice said.
“Yes?” He questioned and listened to the strange voice.
“I heard someone yelling are you alright?” The voice sounded warm.
“Yes.” He nodded his head and closed his eyes tighter. “Can,” He paused. “Can I ask you a question?”
“Sure.” The voice said and he finally realized it was a male voice.
The door closed quietly behind him and there were quiet foot steps and the bed dipped slightly.
“If someone you loved tried to kill themselves and you couldn’t stop them and then they woke up and didn’t remember you but loved you all the same and then your memories come back of that person and everything that made it bad in the first place and you got angry at the person and told them to never touch you again,” He took a deep breath. “What would you do?”
“I don’t know but if I was that person that was yelled at I’d be so heart broken.” He said softly. “If Daniel ever yelled that at me I’d be so broken hearted I don’t know what I’d do.” There was a pause. “I’d probably die to be honest.”
“Say if you knew someway to make the memories of that person go away, would you do it?” Kyo asked.
“Yes.” He said softly. “If Daniel didn’t love me, I would have no one.”
“I doubt that.” Kyo snorted. He cared about someone he’s never met.
“If you could see me you’d understand.” He said gently.
Kyo lifted his hand. “Can I?”
“Sure.” A smooth hand closed around his and pressed it to his face.
Kyo let his fingers travel over his face. He seemed very handsome and then his fingers ran over a jagged scar that crossed over his nose and over his cheek and down his jaw line. “My mother had an affair and I was the child of that. My father went crazy and tried to slice my face off.” He said calmly. “Daniel was the only one who loved me after.” He said calmly.
“But” Kyo started and pulled his hand away from his face. “Why would anyone hate you?”
“Cause I wasn’t his.” He answered simply.
Kyo looked puzzled and then another quiet voice rang out. “Hilo.”
“I’m in the room next to mine.” He called out and some how the soft voice carried through the door and it opened.
“You shouldn’t be bothering other people.” He said in a softly reprimanding manner.
“Someone was yelling I wanted to make sure he was ok.” He answered simply.
“He wasn’t bothering me.” Kyo said calmly.
There was a soft noise and something struck him. “That’s old.” He said simply. “Why are you here now?”
“Because Kyo I’m dying.” He answered softly.
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok.” He said and Kyo could hear the smile in his voice.
“How?” Kyo asked softly and reached out to touch the guy’s hand.
“Someone hated me and poisoned my food and now I’m dying because they can’t heal it. They say that can’t find anything to help it. They don’t know where it’s located.” He answered.
Kyo thought for a moment. “I think I know someone who can help.” He answered with a glimmer of hope.
“It’s ok.” Hilo said delicately
“No.” Kyo snapped and then calmed himself. “I’m sorry.” He said when he realized he had been harsh.
“It’s ok.” The voice was kind to his ears. “So who is this man?”
“Kyo.” Came a sort voice.
“Hatori.” Kyo answered back. “Can I ask a favor of you?”
“Why?” He asked and walked around the room.
He was aware that there were two strangers watching him. One had a soft hearted look on his face that was going to get him killed and the other was silently watching him.
“Hatori please.” Kyo asked.
Hatori finally looked up. “What?”
“Someone poisoned him and they can’t help him and he’s dying, can’t you try to help.”
There was a sigh from Hatori and he walked over and looked at the soft hearted boy. Clear blue eyes looked at him with a gentleness he hadn’t seen since Shigure woke up and looked at him. It made him wants to lean in and keep him safe. Looking at him he ran his hand over his shoulder and to his stomach to press on his liver causing him to cry out.
“What kind of pain is that?”
“Sharp.” He whimpered. “And it takes my breath away.” He breathed out.
Hatori hmm’d and ran his hand over the area again. It was warm, warmer then the rest of his body. “You need something to cleanse your liver.” He answered simple and stood fully looking at Kyo and taking care of him.
There was a small pressure on his sleeve and he turned to look at the blue eyed boy again. “Yes?”
“Thank you so much.” He stood and wrapped Hatori up into a large hug and fled the room crying happy tears.
Hatori watched the boy confused when the other looked at him. “How can we repay you?” He asked.
“You don’t need to.” Hatori answered and turned to Kyo testing his reflexes.
“Please.” He said in a kind but persistent manner. “You don’t know what you’ve just done for us.”
Hatori turned to look at the guy and saw chocolate brown eyes looking at him. “Just get something for him.” He answered. “And that will be enough.” He answered and finished with Kyo before turning to leave.
“Hatori.” Kyo called out when he was leaving.
“What?” He asked and stopped.
“Are you angry at me?” He asked in a hesitant voice.
“Yes.” He answered simply.
“I didn’t mean to.” He tried.
“Don’t tell me tell Haru.”
“But.” Kyo started but Hatori was gone just as quickly and quietly as he had entered.
Daniel looked at the orange haired boy who looked like he was going to break down at any moment. He reached out and placed a hand on his head. “Are you ok?”
Kyo shook his head vigorously under the hand on his head. Momiji wasn’t lying when he said he was the forgotten. They used to be so gentle with him so soft and now they came and left like there was nothing in the bed but a lump of meat. Choking on his sob he curled up his legs to his chest and sobbed into them.
“Would you like to be alone?” Daniel asked.
“No.” he said into his knees.
The door opened again and suddenly he was grabbed up into a furiously strong hug. “Shh.” Hilo’s voice cooed in his ear.
“They all hate me.” Kyo sobbed. “I don’t want to remember anymore.” He cried and held onto the arms holding him.
“Why don’t you try to make it right?” Daniel offered. “Try.” He said and touched his face.
Kyo nodded and let go of Hilo. “I’m sorry.” He whispered.
“Don’t be everyone has a right to cry.” He answered and wiped at his face. “We have to go now but if you’re here tomorrow. We’ll talk to you then.” He said softly and they left.
Kyo said and thought. The door opened and there was a certain air that followed the person. “Kyo.”
“Yuki.” He answered and turned his head.
“How are you?” he asked and inched closer.
“You haven’t heard.” He asked and listened to the cloths rustle.
“What? I heard you got your memories back but nothing other then that.”
“Haru, he had his memories of me taken away.” He answered.
“No.” He said back. “Why?”
“Cause I broke his heart.” Kyo said very plainly. “What do I do to everyone around me?” He asked and closed his eyes.
“We normally push you away first Kyo.” He said calmly.
“This time I jumped first.”
There was a silent moment. “I don’t know what to say.”
“Then don’t say anything at all.” Kyo answered.
“Ok then I won’t.” He said simply and became quiet again.
“What does it feel like to be forgotten?” Kyo asked Yuki suddenly.
“By whom,” he asked softly. “my brother or friends?”
“Every one, anyone you knew?” Kyo answered.
“It hurts.” Yuki stated plainly. “It’s lonely.” He looked at the orange haired boy.
“How do you take it?” Kyo asks.
“I don’t.” Yuki answered simply. “I stay away from everyone so they don’t get attached to me.”
Kyo was confused by this.
“At school” Yuki took a deep breath. “They’re attracted to me, physically. They like you because of who you are.” He answered. “I’ve always been jealous of that.”
“They like me cause I’m related to you.” Kyo mumbled in a low voice.
“No.” Yuki shook his head.
Kyo looked down and let his hand crawl for Yuki’s to hold the cold hand. He picked up the slim hand and held it neatly waiting to be hit. “Would you help me?”
Slim finger curled around his. “Yes.”
“Please bring Haru here.” He said so quietly he almost didn’t hear it himself.
“Sure.” He said. “Kyo, don’t be like me please.” He answered. “You’re not my favorite person in the world but I don’t want you to be like me.”
“I’ll try not to be.” Kyo nodded.
“Now let go of my hand and hate me.” Yuki said with a smile in his voice.
Kyo laughed and let go of Yuki’s hand. Yuki stopped smiling when the bright laugh came out of Kyo’s throat. He had never heard Kyo laugh before and it actually warmed it to hear it.
“Tomorrow” Kyo said when he calmed. “Bright Haru here.”
“Alright.” He said and stood. “Get some sleep.”
Kyo nodded and laid down listening to the door clicking shut he closed his eyes and fell asleep. “I’ll make this right.” He whispered as he fell deeper. “It’s never too late.”
The next day the light from the window shown onto his face causing him to stir and sit up he blinked and yawned stretching. He sighed and blinked his eyes and sat there quietly wondering when someone was going to come wondering it. The door opened quietly and he turned his head.
“Who’s there?” He asked wondering.
“Yuki and Haru.” Yuki answered and walked all the way in.
“Hey.” Kyo answered back feeling nervous suddenly. He rubbed his hands across one another.
He heard other movements around the room and there was suddenly a thickness of pain perked his senses. Yuki looked at Haru who was wondering around the room. “Haru this is Kyo.” He gestured.
Haru looked at the boy sitting in the bed and there was something nagging him in the back of his mind something about the orange hair that was ruffled and a caramel skin. He was taken back when dark mahogany eyes opened to look through him. He nodded his head towards Kyo. “Haru, Kyo can’t see you.” Yuki answered.
“Hello.” He answered.
Kyo nodded his head and stretched out his hand wanting to touch what he knew to be creamy skin. A cold hand slipped into his. It shocked him, the normally slightly cool hand was cold and the normally creamy skin was dry and scratchy against his hand. “Nice to meet you.” Haru answered and dropped his hand quickly.
He looked at the boy and saw a flash of hurt in his eyes before he smiles just slightly and nodded his head. “Actually I’ve met you before Haru.”
Haru blinked and thought back and could just barely make out a though of his eyes and hair. “Where?’ he asked quietly
“At school” Kyo said softly. “Before this.” He answered and patted the bed near him.
“What happened?” Haru asked curiousness in his voice.
“You don’t really wanna know it’s just my fault really. Something stupid that I thought would work but didn’t.” He mumbled.
“Alright.” Haru answered and turned to look out of the window.
“Haru?” Kyo asked softly.
“Yes?” He questioned right back and glanced over his shoulder.
“Do you remember me at all?” He asked softly again.
“The tiniest bit I can’t tell you anything about yourself that I know just a person who looked like you. Orange hair mahogany eyes and caramel colored skin. That’s all really. ”
“Ok.” Kyo said and thought. “Well I have that to work on.” He sighed and leaned back.
Yuki watched Kyo’s facial expressions change. “I’ll be back I’m getting something to drink.”
“Ok.” Haru answered.
When the door was closed Kyo took a deep breath. “Haru, can I tell you something?”
“Sure.” He answered and walked around the crisp white room.
“I love you.” Kyo said getting it out. “I’ve known you for a while and I love you cause you are so much more then you think.”
Haru stopped his eyes widening and looking at the boy sitting back in the bed. “But” he started before trailing off.
