I'm still looking for a Beta...
Until I find someone who is willing to help me out, let me please know if there are problems with the understanding.
I promise to rewrite the causal fragments or at least explain them. I know it's my fault.
Unfortunately AnK has never been translated into my mothertongue and I only found 2 fanfictions in it.
Both of them are on hold. That's my reason for trying it this way.

chapter 10: wasteland I
„Katze here. I have news about Hazall but I can only retrieve provisional results. I sent a boy to you.“
„How long will it take you to further investigate?“
They determined to meet at Katze's hideout a week later.
The Blondie was prepared to go, when he decided to take Raven along.
For the past few days he had been been remarkably quiet.
The more Raoul isolated him from the world, the more he surrendered to him.
It thrilled Raoul but it wasn't healthy for Raven.
He would not repeat his mistake.
It never occurred to Raoul to better give him.
Without a real concept of relationship he kept on binding the boy to his will, hoping for a time to come when
Raven could not longer go without him, because he simply couldn't go without the boy. Mongrel or not.
The furniture was jealous and carried on to be gruff. They didn't come along.
The mongrel felt lonesome, helpless and worst: useless.
The balcony became his favourite place.
When Raoul came to pick him up, he was sitting on the ledge:
„I go out of my mind!“
„Get dressed! We go out for a little walk.“
Raven looked up in surprise.
„Now, pet!“
Raoul trailed after him. The boy grinned back over his shoulder.
Raoul's intension was obvious. Raven cough him very often studying his body and movement and he made him wear those damn pet outfits.
A playful smile crossed his lips. He walked seductively towards the drawer.
„Is time for a shower?“
Raoul escaped a short laughter:
„Is that what you put your little show on for? Go ahead.“
„Thank you, Master.“
He still pays me.
Raven quickly discarded the bodysuit and made for the bath room.
Raoul leaned in the door frame and watched the lithe body graceful moving in the shower cubicle.
The way the boy threw his head back and let the water trail of his hair looked extraordinary erotic.
The pleasure was cut short. Raven finished quickly.
Raoul took a towel to dry his hair. He kissed his neck while he traveled a rill of water down the boy's chest.
He pulled away with great reluctance:
„Bad timing.“
Raven eyed his pet-ring in the mirror:
„I guess we have plenty of time to improve.“
He stepped back into his room, slipped a pant on and eyed Raoul with a familiar glint flashing through his eyes:
„I hope you don't wont me to wear one of your stupid pet dresses.“
Though amused, Raoul answered in his indifferent master tone:
„If I want you in a get up, you most certainly wear it.“
He touched the bracelet on Raven's arm.
„Wear what you want. We have to meet no expectations today.“
„Midas?“
Raoul nodded. The boy decided for a pair of black trousers and a black leather jacket with tongues, that he buckled to his tights.
It was made for biking. He wore it when he returned from Katze after the tampering.
„You've grown up. I will get you to a tailor.“
„Please not! Let me get something from the warehouse.“
„The pet of Raoul Am in ordinary warehouse clothes? I don't think so.“
„Do you need to rub it into my face every single day?“
He pulled on a blue shirt.
Strange.
Raven nowadays refused to wear anything that left him stripped to the waist.
The scar didn't bother him. Now, that it was removed, it seemed to be a constant shame to the boy.
„What's wrong with warehouse clothes?“
„Nothing. Hurry, we are late.“
„Ready.“
They went to the garage on the upper floor. Raven stretched - happy to get some fresh air.
The traffic on orange road was heavy but he smiled.
Raoul couldn't help it – he adored that smile.
Raven tensed when they got to the old pharmacy. He was nervous and Raoul felt jealousy stabbing him.
A feeling, that in the meantime has gotten familiar to Raoul but unnervingly often accompanied Katze's presence.
Raoul inserted a magnet card into the panel at the elevator.
The hidden door opened but instead of Katze, only the odor of stale smoke filled the room.
That's odd.
„Have you arranged to meet him?“
„Of course.“
The boy made straight for the terminal and turned it on. Tracer-logs flashed the screen.
„I can't trace him.“
An alert hummed. Raven switched to the cameras.
„Damn it! ...Wait here, I will attend to the matter.“
„Pet!“
"Later."
!!!
The insolence left Raoul speechless.
He returned to the basement.
His whole attitude changed. Arrogance and confidence radiated from every fiber of his body while he talked to the customer.
He demanded without further prelude: „The paper.“
Raoul observed the scene in silent wonderment.
The man was not upset. Raoul was familiar with the look on his face.
He saw it on Kiri's face and other faces too.
Why he didn't realize earlier Raven's sexual effect on others? It was the same with Riki.
The stranger collected Raven's hair from his neck:
„Come to my bed!“
Raven gave him a bone chilling smile before he punched him hard into the stomach:
„Don't touch me!“
The man's features contorted in pain:
„Crabby as ever.“
„Delivery to Arias. Get out now!“
„Come to my bed when you're finished with the old man.“
Raven spit on the floor:
„Not even if you were the last living being on that rotten planet.“
He returned to Raoul and kissed him on the cheek:
„Ceres rats.“
Hour after hour passed. Neither came Katze back nor called.
For some time now the blackhead paced through the room and collected tools.
Finally he settled down at Katze's terminal and screw it open.
He freed several cables and attached a mobile unit to the system.
„I don't know if it is of any use. Katze's system is well guarded. If I find something, it's because Katze wants me to.“
„Why that charade?“
„We have our own code of conduct.“
Raoul lifted a screwdriver and made a mental note to never let the boy get close to any terminal in the apartment with it.
Raven called Neal Darts:
„Hy Jeeko. Raven here. Is Katze around?“
The elder one mumbled something to someone safe from the screen:
„No kid, haven't been around for a while myself. Could use some help. Interested?“
„Later. By.“
The blackhead cut the connection and looked seriously worried.
When Jeeko doesn't know... Frustrating.
„This will take time. Don't you have to go to work?“
Raoul reached down and took hold of Raven's chin.
Raven gave him a pleading gaze. It stung.
„I'll be back at midnight. Make sure you're ready to leave?"
„Can't I just call you?“
„Not open for discussion!“
This was never enough time. He called Jeeko again.
„Alone, kid?“
„Can you help me?“
„Depends on what you need.“
Raven freed his arm and presented the pet ring to Jeeko.
The hacker sighed: „I come over.“
„Bring a VR. I can't handle Katze's system all alone.“
„He will be pissed as hell.“
„Doesn't matter.“
They attacked Katze's system together. It was the third time and Jeeko willing to declare defeat but the stubborn little mongrel
wouldn't let him.
They attacked again. The whole force of Katze's defense programs hit their neurological systems.
„Enough kid, out of here.“
„No!“
Jeeko cut his connection. Otherwise he would have fried his brain.
He checked on Raven. The boy murmured:
„Got you.“
Jeeko took a deep breath and waited for Raven to come back to his senses:
„You are insane, kid but damn good.“
„Help me up. I need to get the fuccking ring from my arm!“
Jeeko pressed him back to the floor:
„Stay laying! It's not enough time to remove it. I'll install a dummy.“
„Are you sure, you want to do this?“
Raven grew more and more impatient:
„Yes. Hurry! Time is running.“
Jeeko rolled his eyes and put the jab against Raven's neck. The internal VR attached itself to the boy's spine.
It sent discharges through his nerves. Raven tried to calm down and finally the opiate kicked in:
„Let's get out of here!“
„I give you a ride.“
„No. I'll take your bike.“
Jeeko hunched his shoulders. Resistance was futile. He handed Raven the key and several things:
„A tracer is embedded into the knife and this is the switch for the dummy system.
The bike is laded with opiates and medical supplies."
He shot a glance to the door:
"Lets get our asses out of here. I have a sinking feeling about explaining this to your Blondie.“
Jeeko was right. Raven smirked:
„I'll give you a ride.“
"No, thanks, Speeder-boy."
The hacker saw him off to the bike. He lit himself a cigarette while Raven mounted it.
"Don't forget the helmet. ... Besides, you owe me."
"Billing-address is Katze's."
He started the engine and lift off.
„Encouraging.“
Raven hied towards the forbidden outskirts.
An area as big as whole of Tanagura. It contained the remnants of a town founded by the settlers.
Some regarded it as gigantic memorial of their dreams. Unter it's contamined air it provided shelter to refugees.
Tanagura didn't bother with anyone stranded here. They were regarded as death and life in the wasteland was indeed very alike.
The tracer signaled his pet to be in the apartment but Raoul wasn't surprised to find him gone.
We have our own code of conduct.
Forced to sit while Katze was in danger would drive Raven crazy.
It would earn Raoul nothing but anger and he wanted the boy to submit to him - out of his own volition.
The market was another story. To run it smoothly without Katze was nearly impossible,
to send the 'hair' - Raoul was entitled to name him that - after the predecessor risky.
The decision to let him run loose based on emotions. It was a test.
He never doubdet Raven to go. He sort of permitted through staying away from the pharmacy.
The question was: 'Would he return?'
His mobile rang.
“Where are you?”
Raven ignored the question.“I transferred several files to the mobile unit on the sofa. Give me five days.”
You are testing me too.
"Five days."
~~~
Raven crept through a dim corridor with broken windows.
He cursed himself.
Ten minutes and he already managed to pick a fight with homegrowns.
He got away alive but he lost the bike with the equipment.
He sorted through his pockets:
Filter cartridges for the mask, painkillers, a knife and a pack of cigarettes - Katze's cigarettes.
I'm fucked up...
Where the hell was he supposed to find Katze without a scanner?
He caught a glimpse of the skyline before nightfall.
Broken towers and desolate streets – the wasteland.
Ceres was paradise compared to it.
He pressed a hand against the bleeding sore on his side.
If he wanted to stay alive, he had to find shelter.
A hushed whisper reached him from behind:
„Wrong direction.“
Raven turned around and stared into the muzzle of a gun.
The stranger forced him to go ahead but he tumbled.
His wound ached and he lost lots of blood.
Eventually the man drop the gun and steadied him:
“You are a miserable fighter.”
No argument there.
“Why are you helping me?”
“We have mutual friend.”
Raven's eyes got accustomed to the dark. The stranger was lacking an arm. He was well built and his haircolor was brown.
„Are you from Ceres?“
„Hush!“
Raven fell silent. An eternity later they entered something like a flat. The man locked the door and sharpened an alert-system.
„Lots of marplots around.“
He went to a small table and lit a candle:
„You got a guest.“
Raven's eyes grew wide:
“Katze!”
He rushed to the dealers side. Katze was bandaged, pale and could use a bath.
Tears welled up in Raven's eyes but he blinked them back.
"You two are lucky fools.“
"What happened to him?"
"Basically the same as to you."
The stranger offered him a towel and a bottle of water.
"Let me have a look at your injuries."
„Not necessary.“
Katze opened his eyes: “Don't be rude! He is offering help and you are not in the shape to reject it.”
Raven remained stubborn. The man hunched his shoulders:
"Fine with me."
He roughly shove the towel in Raven's hand.
"Press it on the wound until it stops bleeding."
Katze insisted again. Raven didn't like it but he obeyed, looking very angry.
“Why do you do that to me, Katze? Why do you always handle me like a child!”
“It's for your own good.”
"Bullshit! Am I that much of a burden to you?”
Katze didn't answer. Raven sighed and closed his eyes. His condition demanded rest.
Not only his side hurt. He got a headache from the VR. He fell asleep at the dealer's side.
"He cares a big deal for you."
"Apparently ... And? Does he come up to your expectations?"
"It's one thing to know about him, another to see him. He has absolutely no glew?"
"No and thus it shall remain."
~~
„How far is Lucius-Point?“
„How do you feel?“
„Better. How far?“
„In your current condition five days.“
"To long. We have to make it in three."
"Impossible."
Raven ignored him. He crammed everything useful in Katze's backpack.
"Three days with or without you."
He walked to Katze and forced him to get up from the bed:
„We got to go, Katze. I made an arrangement at Lucius-Point.“
„I'm fine.“
Raven glanced again at the stranger:
"With or without you?"
The man gave in. He handed him a gun:
„It's an old fashioned model with bullets but it is light and has no recoil.“
Raven took it and fixed it to his belt: "Very well. We leave at once."
Unbelievable. The brat is ordering me around.
Raven meant to leave the remaining painkillers for Katze but since he had to support him all alone, he finally took one for himself.
His headaches got worse to the point of nausea.
They made good time, rested in the musty remaining of a wastewater pipe.
Katze immediately fell into slumber.
„You rest too!“
The boy hated relying on a stranger but he had little choice. He closed his eyes, regretting the decision to implant the ports into his vertebra.
The contaminated air disturbed the VR. The device was of an elder series and won't stop trying to create a connection.
His lymphatic glands swell and he had trouble to proper see but it existed no possibility to contact the shuttle if he damaged the port.
If we ever make it to Lucius point.
He had the ill feeling they could not hold the brisk pace. The stranger led them through the old freshwater system, where they would unlikely bump into natives.
Neither the boy nor Katze were in good enough shape for a fight:
„What's wrong with you?“
"Nothing ... Why do live in the wasteland? Wasn't Ceres bad enough?"
„Sheer stupidity. Not a story to tell.“
Especially not to you.
„I have done lots of shit. I'm not in the position to judge.“
„Save the confessions for Christmas eve. You need to sleep. Tomorrow we move into the city. If we can't trade for the toll, we have to fight.“
"What's your name?"
"Guy."
"You can call me Raven."
The very core of the wasteland:
Old power supply lines hung useless from their poles.
Clouds of dirt waved over the ground. Meaninglessness covered everything. Except of the pale moons of Amoi was no star visible.
Guy's heart gave a little leap: „We're being watched.“
„How many?“
„I don't know. I can't see them.“
„What do we do?“
„Nothing, unless they jump us.“
Katze clung heavy to Raven's shoulder.
He sat him down. Someone asked in a raspy voice:
„Got something to trade?“
Guy answered: „How much for a secure passage?“
Laughter echoed from the walls.
Bad. Bad. Bad.
They yanked Katze up and moved on. Laughter accompanied them and all sorts of alarming sounds.
It made Raven's hair stand on end and getting on his nerves. He fumed. Katze knew this expression well.
A firestorm.
"Calm down."
"I can't"
Raven's vision blurred. A familiar feeling climbed up his spine.
A feeling, that made his jaws clench. He fell down to his knees and choke.
A wave of euphoria took possession of him. His head fell back and he laughed and laughed and laughed.
The threatening sound gave Guy the shivers.
The boy's pupils widened until his eyes seemed to be black and a predatory grin cornered his mouth.
„What's wrong with him?“
Next instant they were in the middle of hell.
Raven fired into the shadows, screaming:
„I don't trade with proxies!“
The channels groaned with an unholy sound and the lights to both sides increased.
Not a few of the bulbs exploded.
Hitting a lane of devastation.
Raven stood in the middle of it, looking like a demon:
„Ajax!“
„What is he doing?!“
„He connected himself to the system. He' got a VR under the skin in his neck.“
Big shock. Guy heard of VR-devices befor but only for playing purposes in brothels. He swallowed hard.
„How long can he stand...“
He had not the time to end the sentence. Arrows hit all three of them.
Damn it!
„Ajax? ... They are down.“
The room was blue enlightened. Bobbles ascended from the bottom to the top. Blob. Blob. Blob.
Raven touched his hand to one of the fountains.
The water surrounded it but never touched it.
He sood there absent minded. He saw somone out of the corner of his eye.
'Ajax?'
'Hello Black Beauty.'
Raven felt a shiver at the mental touch.
'It seems we have a little problem. What is your prize for leaving my system?'
'Free passage for me and my comrades to Lucius-Point.'
The building creaked and jarred around them.
'Concentrate!'
Raven gazed at the other presence. He felt dulled at the beautiful figure in front of him.
The face reflected so much intelligence that Raven was startled to look at it.
'
What if you loose our little game? What would be my prize, black beauty?'
Raven closed his eyes. The light in the room went from blue to red.
'I won't loose.'
Ajax smiled at him with cold serenity:
'You are very confident' The light changed back to blue.'But if you are not more than an amateur, you should quit doing this.'
He reached him and lifted his head up. Ice blue met midnight blue. Sarcasm clung to the mental voice:
'My prize?'
'I have nothing to give except myself.'
Ajax pointed to his nose.
'There is no good in probing a Blondie's pride even when it comes to a mere pet. Don't you agree?'
'What do you want?'
'Secrets.'
Raven was confused:
'I have no secrets, to tell.'
'I'm not interested in your secrets.'
'I don't understand.'
A metallic voice from the outside cut through the silence: “Ajax, He works with the system. The VR idles.”
The system interpreted and transferred Ajax answer to the screen. 'Very well. Exchange the device!'
This was something, Nyet never got accustomed to. He spoke into the microphone: “What about the others?”
'Alter their memories!'
„Is it a good idea to let them go?“
“Haven't you figured yet?”
„What?“
“He will hand Eos to us on a silver platter.”
“Isn't he only a mongrel?”
“He is Am's mongrel-pet and he is a dreamer. An exceptionell skilled one, though untrained.”
A natural-born dreamer. That was absolutely unheard of. To leave him to the existence of a pet seemed cruel to Nyet.
A mongrel - the most insignificant creature on Amoi. Ironic.
~~
"Wake up!"
The intense pain in his neck was replaced by a warm comforting feeling
but his memories remained fuzzy. He looked around and found himself in the loading area of Lucius-Point.
Katze lay next to him. Asleep but looking much better.
„Boy, you scared the shit out of me.“
„I don't remember a single thing. What happened?”
Guy edged him up into a sitting position: “You fell senseless after you burned the pipe to ashes. Katze removed the VR.”
Raven looked up, confused: “Have you carried me all the way?”
He nodded and Raven felt shamed: „I'm a wimpy tryst of a savior.“
“Not if your cargo arrives.”
Right on cue the sound of the landing-nozzles approached.
Guy took hold of his hood and blinked upwards into the sky.
“Time to say goodbye.”
“What do I owe you?”
Guy smiled at him. He looked somehow relieved, when he answered: “Drop by with a bottle of stout from time to time.”
“A bottle of stout? Nothing else?”
That was small a prize.
"Nothing else."
Having seen your face - his face - nothing makes me happier.
