Chapter Ten: Epilogue
"Hang in there," Nami said reassuringly. She used a moist cloth to dab Robin's sweaty brow as the dark haired woman strained again. A few hours ago Robin's contractions had started and ever since then she had been flat on her back in Chopper's lab grunting and heaving with labor.
"Thanks, Nami," Robin said. She had forbade Luffy from being present lest Chopper make some kind of connection.
"Hey, how does it feel?" Nami asked. Her hand unconsciously strayed down to her own stomach which was now well rounded.
"Hurts," Robin said through gritted teeth before relaxing again. "Are you starting to worry?"
Up until now Nami had been too addicted to sex to be overly concerned that her belly had gotten filled with Luffy's baby, but now Robin's condition had thrown a glass of ice water on her. In a few months she'd be the one laying there ready to pop.
"Maybe a little," Nami replied. All the many wonderful hours of lovemaking, completely liberated of any need to hold back since she was already with child, were suddenly reduced to the image of her trying to squeeze a HUGE baby out of her fat belly.
"I think its coming," Chopper called out suddenly. Nami was shaken out of her stupor as Robin cried out again, then exhaled sharply just in time for a new cry to ring out.
"Oh my," Nami exclaimed. Through a whirlwind of activity Robin's stomach was thin again and Chopper was placing a little baby in her arms.
"Its a girl," Chopper informed her happily. The only thing notable about the child was its dark hair. Its features didn't clearly take after either of her parents. "And she seems to be unusually strong."
"Then her name is Nico D. Olvia," Robin said, smiling.
"D?" Chopper asked.
"Of course, after Jaguar D. Saulo," Robin said quickly. "He saved me and allowed me to meet my mother after all."
"Ah, good choice," Chopper said.
"So, Nami, are you still worried?" Robin asked.
Nami didn't say anything, she just shook her head and stared at the amazing beauty of a newborn child.
