A very small part of Izuku is satisfied to see the reaction his mother gives in response to Tōya's casual admittance of his involvement in the attack, while the rest of him is torn between wanting to cry at her sudden decision to not send him back to U.A. and worrying that she'll see to it that he can't be with Tōya now that she knows that he's…well, now that she thinks that he's a villain. His arms tighten around Toya's neck again at the thought and Izuku turns to tuck his head underneath Tōya's chin like it will make all the difference in what's going on. It does actually help soothe him a little, and Tōya even takes a second to give him a reassuring nuzzle, so there is that.
"While that is true it was also through your actions that we have ten of the members of the League in our custody." Tsukauchi's tone is just on the edge of exasperation as he tries to fix the damage that Tōya has done by revealing the precise nature of his involvement in the attack, and Izuku turns his head just enough to peak at the Detective to find that he is focusing solely on Inko.
"My baby's soulmate is a villain?" Inko asks faintly, her eyes still wide with shock as she stares at them past Tsukauchi, and for a second it looks like a gentle breeze might knock her over. And then her entire demeanor shifts as her gaze goes to Tsukauchi. "Isn't there something that you can do about this?"
"What do you mean by that, Midoriya-san?" Tsukauchi asks with a fair amount of confusion in his voice and a saccharine smile blossoms on Inko's face.
"My Izuku must be mistaken," Inko starts to say, her tone matching her smile as her gaze flits from Tsukauchi to Tōya and Izuku. There's something off about her now, her eyes cold and lacking any sort of the warmth that they usually have as she continues on to say, "He doesn't have a soulmate, so isn't there something that you can do, Detective?" and it's like Izuku forgets how to breathe.
Tsukauchi physically recoils, and then his own demeanor shifts as well as he stands straight-backed and with his shoulders squared. "Why yes, there is something I can do about this, Midoriya-san," he answers politely, and he gives Inko a strained smile. "But I'll need you to return to your apartment and let me handle this, okay?"
Inko seems to consider it for a moment, all while Tōya's hold on Izuku tightens, and then she gives a slight nod. "I'll go ahead and start making you some katsudon so we can forget all about this, okay, sweetie?" Her gaze lingers on Izuku for a beat, as if waiting for his response but when one isn't forthcoming she just smiles coldly before she pivots on her heel to make her way back to the apartment building.
"C-can she really…" Izuku's voice trails off weakly as he stares after Inko, and fear starts to claw its way through him.
"No, she can't have us separated on a whim just because she doesn't like who or what I am," Tōya answers immediately, his voice quavering just a little, and he firmly buries his nose in Izuku's hair. "And I can't say that I'm sorry that things turned out this way, not when I don't regret it, but if this has hurt you in any way then I am sorry for being the cause of that."
Izuku takes a moment to gather himself and to tamp out the fear still working its way through him before he gives a slight shake of his head. "I was more worried that she could make it so that we can't be together," he confesses in a small, wavering voice, and Tōya nuzzles him.
"I really need to get you a book on the laws and information regarding soulmates," Tōya whispers right as Tsukauchi clears his throat to get their attention.
"Do you have a place that is suitable for you and your soulmate to stay at, Sōen-san?" Tsukauchi asks earnestly, and the Detective is wringing his hands as he glances over his shoulder at the apartment building.
Tōya lifts his nose out of Izuku's hair after giving him another nuzzle so he can properly answer the Detective's question. "It really isn't suitable for Izuku to stay at and considering that the crusty fucker with all those hands and whoever Sensei is are most likely hunting me down for ruining their plans…"
"I understand," Tsukauchi responds gravely and he motions towards the street where a police car is parked. "It might not be ideal but let's head over to the station for now so the two of you can get freshened up and maybe get something to eat while I sort out a living arrangement for you."
Izuku blinks a little and then shifts his head just enough to look at the apartment building, and for a second he wonders if it will be okay to just take off like this. He shakes the thought away then looks to Tsukauchi first. "What about my belongings?"
"We can send someone to collect your things once we get both of you situated," Tsukauchi responds with an apologetic smile. "But it's best that neither of you interacts with Midoriya Inko for the time being."
"Oh," Izuku says softly and he glances at the apartment building one last time. "I don't really want to get anything other than some clothes and my Quirk Analysis notebooks but they really aren't that important…"
"They're important to you, Izuku, so they're worth sending someone to get them," Tōya murmurs just loud enough for him to hear.
"It's fine, Midoriya-san, we'll get your things for you in due time," Tsukauchi promises and he leads them over to the police car where Tōya finally sets him down. "I can have Yagi-san pick them up if you'd like?"
Izuku almost considers saying yes, only to remember the plethora of All Might merchandise he has out on display in his bedroom. "Oh, um, there's no need to trouble Yagi-san with picking up my things," he answers quickly while Tōya gives him an amused smile.
"It should be fine if Yagi-san picks up Izuku's things," Tōya corrects as his smile sharpens into a conspiratorial grin and Izuku shoots him a betrayed look as he ducks into the backseat of the car.
