Law woke up before Luffy. This was becoming a familiar routine for him. The feeling of the warm body pressed against him as he started his day had now become the norm over the past three weeks for Law, at least when he slept at home. He generally woke up to Luffy wrapped around him or on top of him, but never without them somehow touching.
He thought the presence of another would bother him at night, he wasn’t the heaviest sleeper and generally got caught up in his own head at night, but surprisingly Luffy’s light snores and sleep talking never disturbed him. It was actually quite nice to not be alone and Luffy’s presence alone dragged him out of his dark thoughts more often than not. Starting the day with the adorable sleeping face of his boyfriend just felt right as much as he hated to admit it. (He would never not cringe at the word ‘boyfriend’, but he found himself thinking it regularly now.)
This morning was no different. Luffy was curled up under his arm in a ball pressed against his side.
Luffy had taken their conversation a few weeks ago a little too literally. When Law had asked Luffy to stay by his side he didn’t necessarily mean every waking second they could spend together. If he wasn’t at work, Luffy was there. In the shower, on the couch, in the kitchen (watching of course), running errands, or in bed. He was like a loyal dog who followed their master everywhere. It was actually kind of cute once he got over the initial shock of never having a moment to himself. There was something jarring about going from being isolated for years to always being in the presence of another but he got over it quickly.
Law still had some mixed emotions after their unexpected heartfelt and tearful conversation but he had slowly pushed them away. His initial emotions were a mix of embarrassment, adoration, fear, and hope. He hadn’t intended for Luffy scolding him about accepting his thanks to turn into him begging Luffy to stay by his side. There was no time limit decided, but Luffy’s implication of ‘however long it took’ came with an implied permanence.
He had opened his heart up to Luffy about his ever present fear of the man getting hurt or dying because of him. He didn’t know why exactly he chose to do such a thing at the time. Luffy always managed to drag his deepest fears to the surface, something that both infuriated and comforted him. Perhaps the reason he was able to do this was because Luffy never denied him or pushed him away. Maybe his subconscious simply just trusted Luffy to handle his feelings with care. What a wild thought. Luffy was definitely not trustworthy, he couldn’t keep a secret to save his life.
That night, Luffy being who he was, somehow turned Law’s deepest troubles into a real and very serious pledge. ‘I promise I will find the key and free you from your chains. I will find an answer to your questions and exorcize the ghosts that haunt you. No matter how long it takes. Until then, please just let me be by your side.’ Law didn’t think he would ever forget those words. Never in his life had someone so selflessly vowed themself to him. And it scared the absolute shit out of him.
This promise made the gravity of Luffy being hurt because of him even more terrifying. That fear was still ever present, lingering in the back of Law’s head every time they left the safety of his home.
Luffy’s promise was an almost unattainable goal. Law believed in the stubborn man and his ability to grab hold and take whatever he desired, but this was just too much. Law was too broken. His issues went far too deep. He was only a child when he had everything taken away from him. He had seen and done things he could never speak aloud. As loving, beautiful, and genuine as Luffy was, he could never change those facts.
‘I don’t even deserve the right to ask you for this, but please stay with me, Luffy.’ Law had pleaded in response. He had said it then and would say it now. He didn’t deserve what Luffy was offering him. But he was so very selfish and took it nonetheless. Even if he didn’t believe Luffy could in fact save his ‘soul’, he would keep that to himself. Because that meant he could keep Luffy for himself. It was so shamelessly greedy and he secretly hated himself for it. But how could he deny Luffy when he offered himself on a silver platter?
Despite how raw and real the conversation was, Law did cringe at how cheesy romance novelesque it was after the fact. Since when had he become such a hopeless romantic? Luffy really did crazy shit to him.
Luffy really should have run away while he had the chance. He didn’t deserve someone fucked up and oftentimes nasty like Law. He deserved someone who would unconditionally love and cherish him without the looming fear of danger. Now he had shackled himself to Law’s burdens, ones which were so damn heavy. Luffy still didn’t know what most of them even were. It felt as if he had taken a step forward but there were still miles and miles to go. The path to Law’s heart was long and arduous. Luffy was so blissfully unaware of how long it truly was.
Perhaps one day the ball of sunshine would burn out and simply just give up on him. He kind of expected that to happen, honestly. There was no way someone could possibly want to put up with his shit forever, right? The thought that most terrified Law the most was what would happen after . If he lost another person, would he be able to go on with living? He had done it before but this time was different. Luffy was different.
He was still bewildered by the fact that he had cried. He fucking cried. Law didn’t know when the last time he had legitimately shed a tear. Probably not since Corazon died. But he was so overwhelmed with emotions that he had never felt before and everything just flowed out of him. It was like Luffy had turned on the faucet in his heart and forgot to shut it off. The act of feeling such deep emotions in itself was so confusing and terrifying but somehow very freeing at the same time. His mind was just a fucking mess.
Law was a doctor. Although he may not be a psychologist, he had studied the body and mind enough to know that he was was fucked. PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, OCD, he likely had them all. Of course, hell would have to freeze over before he ever would dare speak to a professional about his fucked up life and mind. His issues wouldn’t just disappear with the wave of a magic wand.
Luffy began to stir beside him. Law watching the younger man enter the world every morning had become the secret highlight of his day. Luffy would blink open his eyes, and as he became aware of his surroundings, lit up with joy when he realized he was with Law. It was like he came alive each day just by seeing his face. This morning was the same. Luffy peeked out from where he was curled up at Law’s side to crawl onto his chest and stare at him with sleepy eyes.
“Good morning, Torao.” he spoke with a raspy voice pressing a tender kiss to Law’s lips. Law didn’t particularly enjoy the idea of kissing with unbrushed teeth, but Luffy had made such a fuss about Law not kissing him first thing when he woke up that he gave in just so he didn’t have to hear him complain everyday.
‘The first moments of waking up are what determines how my day will be. If I get a kiss from you, it means it will be a good one. You don’t want me to have bad days right?Luffy had explained to him. The logic was simple and flawed, as Luffy’s logic so often was. Nonetheless, Law made sure to kiss Luffy as soon as he woke up. He really was a sucker.
Law had the day off today and Luffy didn’t have to work until the evening. Their schedules, although vastly different, surprisingly worked well together. Bepo and Luffy had created a plot (that they thought Law wouldn’t notice) to try and manipulate his calendar so his days off lined up with the nights Luffy didn’t work. Since Luffy didn’t work during the day and most of Law’s shifts didn’t start until evening, they ended up being able to spend most days together.
Despite Law’s insistence otherwise, his best friend and boyfriend had become fast friends and texted each other regularly. What they talked about, Law didn’t even want to know. It was better for his mental health not to know. Luffy came to eat lunch with them at least once a week now. He would come everyday but Law put a strict limit on his visits. He couldn’t have the idiot prancing around the hospital all the time when he was supposed to be working but he knew if he told him to stay away Luffy would cause a scene.
Recently, Luffy had begun to come over even on the nights he did have work. Law had let him borrow a spare key on these days if he was also going to be home. The key didn’t belong to Luffy and he made sure that the younger man knew that. He could only take it with Law’s permission and had to return it when he arrived. He knew that if he just gave Luffy a key he would declare that he now lived with Law and that would be it.
However, Law had mulled it over and realized that he didn’t mind the idea of Luffy just staying at his place all the time. He felt bad forcing him to leave whenever Law had to go to work and Luffy constantly complained both to his face and through texts every time that he had to go home. Law had seen Luffy’s shitty loft and couldn’t blame him for wanting to just be at Law’s sprawling townhouse. After all, that shithole didn’t even have air conditioning.
Law wasn’t quite ready for Luffy to ‘move in’ with him completely. That was a serious commitment and hinted towards things far beyond just dating that he wasn’t prepared to discuss yet. His things and his space were his and his alone and he was extremely picky about where things were placed. He couldn’t fathom what shit Luffy would leave all over the place if left to his own devices.
But over time, traces of the raven-haired began to appear in Law’s home. In the bathroom a second toothbrush sat on the sink and a second towel hung on the hook. An extra cup for water was always lying around somewhere and both sides of the bed were now used even if Luffy preferred being on Law’s. He gave Luffy a drawer in the dresser to keep his clothes after Luffy had left his shit in a pile on the floor after making the decision that it was not going to fly.
These remnants of Luffy felt homely in a way that Law hadn’t expected. He had lived and been alone for the majority of his life. He wouldn’t have ever fathomed that his home would be filled with signs of life of anyone other than him.
Of course, he would have to set strict boundaries and rules for Luffy to follow. After all, leaving the idiot alone in his house spelled trouble. Luffy was messy, terrible at cleaning, and would burn down the house if you let him try to cook anything besides premade meals.
Despite these flaws, there was just something that drew Law to the idea that when he was finally free from his work obligations, Luffy would always be there waiting for him. This arrangement would allow Luffy to go to his own home if he pleased but Law knew that the second he was given permission to stay, Luffy would only go back when necessary. Besides the fact that he hated that place, he also couldn’t stand being alone. Law truly didn’t know how he had survived all those months without someone by his side. He didn’t really blame Luffy though, he spent some of the worst months of his life alone in that loft.
“Good Morning, how are you feeling this morning?” Law asked Luffy, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
“I always feel great when I wake up next to you, Torao,” Luffy spoke with a smile. Law’s heart skipped a beat at how fucking cute he was.
“So sappy, jeez.” Law joked.
“Shut up, I know you secretly love it, you oversized jerk.” Luffy said with a ‘hmph’ before rolling off Law’s chest and onto his side, moving about a foot away from Law. He rolled his eyes at the childishness before scooting over to meet Luffy, wrapping his arms around his back.
“Don’t be so melodramatic all the time,” Law breathed into Luffy’s ear. He brought his lips to the lobe and nibbled on it. Luffy hummed in satisfaction. This guy was seriously such a tsundere. Law just had to give him the most minimal level of affection and he would totally change his tune.
“What are we doing today? We could just stay in bed and have some fuuuuuun,” Luffy drawled with a seductive tone. Luffy would actually just stay in bed all day if Law let him. As fun as spending the next hour or so under and inside of Luffy would be, he did have plans. His insatiable boyfriend could wait until later to jump his bones. He enjoyed forcing Luffy to wait a little while longer when he was aroused. It always made him more hungry and needy than normal and Law was the one who reaped the benefits.
“Sorry baby, as much as I would love to fuck you senseless all day, I have some things to do. I’m assuming you’ll be tagging along? After all, you’re basically my shadow at this point,” Law teased, blowing cold air onto Luffy’s now wet ear. He could feel the goosebumps raise on Luffy’s arms and smirked in satisfaction. So sensitive.
“Stop being mean again. You make it sound like you don’t want me to come with you…” Luffy put on the sad puppy act again and tried to pull out of Law’s arms. He caught on to the smaller one’s plans and tightened his grip on Luffy’s waist and pulled him back into his arms.
“You’d come with me even if I didn’t want you to anyways. Plus, I’m actually going out to buy things for you so you have to come.” Luffy’s ears perked up when he heard Law’s plans and he flipped around so he was facing Law with sparkling eyes. How easy he was to manipulate.
“Huh? What do I need to get? I hope it’s not expensive,” Luffy’s tone shifted from excitement to disappointment in one second when he realized he was kind of broke. Going shopping for Luffy was Law’s idea, so of course he wouldn’t make Luffy pay. Plus he had so much disposable income he didn’t know what to do with it. Might as well spend it on Luffy. He was always so appreciative of anything Law bought or did for him.
“It’s my idea. I’m paying for everything. Don’t worry about it.” He told Luffy
Luffy rolled over in his arms to face him, his face full of excitement as he responded with “Really?? You’re the best boyfriend ever.” before nuzzling into Law’s chest.
“Come on, let’s go brush our teeth so we can get going. It’s already 10.” Law said as he rolled out of bed, smacking Luffy’s ass on the way out. Luffy stuck his tongue out but followed dutifully a moment after.
“So what exactly are we buying?” Luffy questioned in between the brushing of his teeth.
“Well we’re going to the Baratie on Friday and frankly most of your clothes are abysmal. So we’re going to get some new things that at least make you look presentable.”
“That’s mean, my clothes are fine…” Luffy pouted. Most of Luffy’s outfits didn’t match and although Law found it charming sometimes, Luffy was 22 and desperately needed a wardrobe update. Plus, Law liked clothes and thought it would be fun to dress Luffy up as he pleased.
“We’re also getting you some sneakers and workout clothes.” Law added. Luffy rinsed out his mouth before giving him a questioning look.
“Why? Why do I need to workout when I have a naturally high metabolism?” They continued this discussion as they got dressed for the day.
“Because if you’re going to invade my life everyday you are also going to start running with me in the mornings.” Law hadn’t gone on a run for a month now and he was getting antsy. He needed exercise to make him feel like he wasn’t going crazy.
“Running? No pleaseeee I hate running.” He had expected this response from Luffy. After all, the younger man would simply just sleep the day away if he was allowed to. He did work pretty late but Luffy was always full of energy and it surprised Law that he slept so much. Perhaps the months of being severely depressed had made him used to sleeping all the time to avoid reality. Law never had that luxury but could imagine that it would be a good way to escape.
“Yep. I’ve been sacrificing my runs for you recently and I would like to get back to them. If you’re going to hang around all the time, you’re going to have to adjust to my routines.” Law explained as they made their way down the stairs.
“I don’t wanna. Why can’t I sleep in while you run? Then I won’t even notice you’re gone.” Luffy whined. So predictable.
“Because it’s good for you. You don’t get enough exercise.” It was true. Luffy may be in good shape naturally but regular exercise would be good for both his body and mind. Maybe it would lead him to not be so sexually insatiable all the time. Not that Law minded.
“You give me plenty of exercise every day and that’s way more fun,” Luffy said with a wink, almost having read his thoughts. Law rolled his eyes. Their almost daily lovemaking sessions were quite a workout however Law refused to count that as legitimate exercise.
“If you don’t like it, go sleep at your place then. My house, my rules.” Law scoffed as he slipped on his shoes.
“That’s just cruel. You wouldn’t dare. You know I hate it when you have to work and I have to go back there. It’s so dark and lonely and brings back bad memories.” Luffy pouted, searching for empathy from Law but getting none.
“That settles it then.” The guilt trip would not work on him. He had already made up his mind.
“Ugh you are such a bully. Maybe Bepo was right, you are a big jerk and I’m way too nice for you.” Luffy snarked.
“He did not say that.” Law gave him a side-eye glare. He didn’t know who was more of a little shit, Bepo or Luffy.
“Yes he totally did!” Luffy confirmed.
“Stop texting him and gossiping all the time. You guys are like two old bats.” Law knew he wouldn’t happen but he would still try to break up this camaraderie his best friend and boyfriend had. It never ended well for him.
“Don’t be jealous that your friend likes me better than you!” Luffy proclaimed proudly. Bepo probably did like Luffy better and Law couldn’t blame him honestly.
“I’m not jealous. You can have him.” he muttered in response.
“So… Can we get something to eat before we go shopping? I think I’m going to die if I don’t eat soon.” Luffy questioned, again switching to the default puppy-dog face when he wanted something from Law.
“Planned on it, you’re always hungry. We’ll get breakfast first. I need a coffee to deal with your whining all day anyways.” Law chuckled. When it came to doing anything with Luffy, Law always scheduled a stop for food. Luffy would feign starvation if he wasn’t fed regularly. Sometimes Law really did feel like he had a pet instead of a partner. Maybe they were one in the same. Law tossed Luffy his own shoes to put on so they actually make progress leaving the house.
“One day I might not be here and you’re going to miss me whining and complaining so much you won’t know what to do with yourself.” Luffy teased. Law went to roll his eyes as usual but when he comprehended the words the man had actually said, anger immediately filled him.
What the fuck? Luffy knew how serious he was about his concerns for Luffy’s life and making a joke of his legitimate fears of him leaving was not funny. That truth haunted Law. He didn’t need Luffy to tell him that he would likely be lost without him. The closer that he became to this man, the more he realized that losing him would likely be the thing that would finally drive him over the edge into insanity.
Luffy had permeated his entire existence and these past weeks had been the best that Law could remember having. He was the sunshine that brought light into his life. Days spent laughing, talking, fucking, and simply just being with the younger man had brought him a joy that words could never truly explain.
The thought of losing that was unbearable. The thought that perhaps he was actually truly, madly, falling in love with this beautiful idiot had been poking it’s way into his thoughts. He wasn’t ready to face that reality quite yet, but Law would be damned if he allowed Luffy to use his feelings for perverse humor so casually.
His rage was evident on his face as he swiftly grabbed Luffy by the neck and threw him backwards into the door. His grip was loose but firm. He didn’t want to hurt Luffy but he wanted to be sure that he knew that Law was very, very serious right now. This was a wake up call.
“Don’t you ever say fucked up shit like that ever again. You’re the one who promised you wouldn’t fucking leave me. Don’t you dare throw your words back in my face,” he hissed as he caged Luffy against the wall with his arm and the hand that held his neck. He stood tall as he glared down at him, now towering over his small frame.
“I’m sorry…I was just joking…” Luffy choked out. His eyes were wide and Law could see the slightest hint of fear in them.
Normally either of them pressing the other to the wall like this would eventually lead to sex. However, there was no romantic implication right now and Luffy’s expression made it clear that he understood that this was not that kind of situation. Good. This was Law’s way of asserting his dominance to make Luffy not just listen but hear what he was saying. He didn’t want to have this conversation again.
“You leaving me is not a joke. My feelings are not a joke. Now either you understand that or you get the fuck out of my sight and don’t come back until you get that through your thick skull. Got it?” Law snapped low and stern. Luffy’s doe-like eyes scanned his face and he could see the concern there. They hadn’t really had a serious talk or argument in a few days. Luffy was likely trying to figure out where Law’s head was at.
“I understand… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it.” Luffy muttered and Law released his grip on the smaller man’s neck. Luffy immediately crumpled to the floor, arms limp as he stared at his lap. Law’s hand was trembling and his breaths were heaving. Neither of them moved for a moment.
Shit. Law immediately felt guilty for his actions. He had allowed his own fears and doubts to take over. Instead of calmly explaining why he was upset, he just lashed out. Luffy was not at fault here, he was just bantering with Law as he always did. It was Law’s fault for taking it too seriously. He just was so overcome with panic at the sheer idea of Luffy not being in his life that he couldn’t process it. He needed to sort out his shit, that much was evident. Perhaps this was a sign he was too reliant on his partner.
Law crouched down in front of Luffy and he brought his hand to Luffy’s chin, softly pulling it up to meet his gaze. His lover flinched at the touch and Law immediately wanted to punch himself in the face. How could he have been so foolish? He had never been harshly physical with Luffy outside of sex. Luffy had voiced that liked being bitten, gripped until he bruised, and even slapped around a little but they had never gone beyond that. Grabbing him by the neck and throwing him against the wall out of rage was nothing like being rough under the guise of lust. He hoped that his mistake wouldn’t lead Luffy to fear his violence.
“I’m sorry. That was uncalled for. I just got upset at the idea of losing you. Honestly I just don’t know who I would even be anymore without you around and that fucking terrifies me,” he pressed his forehead to Luffy’s as he spoke, “please forgive me.” He added. He felt Luffy’s labored breathing under him.
“It’s my fault… Everything had been so good between us that I just didn’t think about the jokes I was making,” Luffy murmured. The pangs of guilt thrummed in Law’s heart. Luffy was blaming himself and that wasn’t right. He pulled his forehead from Luffy’s and looked into his eyes, hoping his pleading expression would reach him.
“Everything is good between us, I promise. I am not upset with you at all. I need to learn to handle my emotions better. You just fuck me up so much in the head in a good way. Come here, baby,” he spoke as he pulled Luffy into his arms. Luffy’s arms snaked around his waist and he held him in his arms for a few moments before releasing him. He brought his hand back to cup the raven-haired’s chin and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
“Can we put this behind us and enjoy the rest of our day? I promise I’ll feed you something tasty and find some nice things you like,” Law uttered in his gentlest voice.
“Yeah, Okay. Let’s go.” Luffy nodded and gave him a small smile. It wasn’t his usual bright exuberant one, but it was better than nothing. Law offered his hand and Luffy took it. He really needed to sit down and sort out his shit one of these days or it would be Luffy who got hurt.
–
Luffy put on a smile as he took Law’s hand and they made their way out of the house. Their conversation never came back to the argument they just had as they walked. Luffy chatted aimlessly while Law led him by the hand to their destination.
Although he put up a good front, Luffy couldn’t ignore the pit in his stomach. Everything had changed in one second and he felt like he had whiplash. Over the past month or so with Law, everything really had been good. Almost too good.
That was not to say that Law didn’t get irritated at his clinginess or yell at him for being a mess, but he expected those things. Law was serious about his complaints at those times but he never really meant it. When he said things like ‘ if you don’t clean up your shit I’m going to kill you’ , Luffy knew it was a joke. But this time Law was actually angry and Luffy had to admit he was a little bit scared of darkness he saw behind Law’s eyes
It wasn’t so much that Law had manhandled him, he didn’t care about that and actually genuinely enjoyed the ever so slight tinge of pain he received. It was the emotions behind the action and the fact that he had never treated Luffy like that out of real anger that he couldn’t let go of..
Of course, Law had every right to be upset with him. These past few mostly conflict-free weeks had made Luffy forget that Law was strong, troubled, and had allegedly killed multiple people. Perhaps he should have been more self-aware but Law just never did anything that warranted hesitation or fear. He had promised that type of man unbreakable commitment which he took and rubbed into his face for a stupid and unnecessary joke. That was cruel.
He knew Law was concerned for his safety, it didn’t go unnoticed that he always checked behind them when they were in public and never let Luffy out of his sight when he was able to. He didn’t mention it constantly, but Luffy could see the anxiety that brimmed inside of his partner. What a fucking idiot he was. He was angry at himself for screwing things up when their relationship had been going so well.
Law had been nothing but good to him. Even though he complained often, he attended to Luffy’s physical and emotional needs without question. He fed him, fulfilled his unquenchable thirst for sex, and showered him in the affection Luffy constantly craved. Luffy had felt like he was giving Law the same treatment, but perhaps he wasn’t doing enough. He had avoided bringing up sensitive topics like Law’s family and past and he had convinced himself that he was doing it out of respect for Law’s privacy. Perhaps he was actually doing it because he was so thrilled with the way their life together was going that he didn’t want to rock the boat.
That wasn’t right. He had promised Law he would tend to his wounded heart and here he had been just sitting around and taking advantage of the man. The reality was that he hadn’t done anything for Law since they started dating. Even right now, Law was taking him out to buy clothes and whatever else he deemed necessary. Yes, Law was the one who made the choice to do this, but at the end of day it was all for Luffy. He really was a selfish person.
The anxieties and negative thoughts that had been his existence before Law now felt like they were rearing their ugly head again and he felt like absolute shit. He put on a good act throughout the course of their walk to breakfast and even to the point they were sitting down to eat. Luffy had ordered a stack of waffles with bacon and Law had ordered a coffee with poached eggs and avocado (he refused the toast of course).
As they sat at the table, Law watched him intently as usual but Luffy could see the lingering guilt in his eyes. He knew that Law was likely blaming himself for lashing out and it was clear from his tender apology earlier that he truly was sorry. Luffy really wasn’t upset with him at all, in fact he honestly just wanted to have a conversation and figure out what exactly was going through his boyfriend’s mind. This just wasn’t the time or place for that. Law wanted them to move past the conversation and enjoy the day together and Luffy wanted the same.
“You okay?” Law questioned after the waitress had left with their order. Of course he had caught on, he could read Luffy like a book. He reached his hand across the table and grasped Luffy’s, softly brushing his tattooed thumb across his knuckles.
“Yeah I’m good! I can’t wait to eat, I'm starving,” he said, veiling his true emotions with a smile.
“Okay. Are you sure you’re still up to go shopping? I know you have work later on so if you’re not in the mood for it we can just go another day,” Law continued. Luffy felt his chest tighten. This man was constantly thinking and prioritizing how he felt, even now. Law had seemingly been looking forward to going out with Luffy and now he was just going to toss it aside. Luffy really didn’t deserve this man.
“Of course! I know you want to dress me up like your little doll,” Luffy said with a wink. He decided then that he would be on his best behavior and not even complain the entire day. He didn’t particularly enjoy the idea of going shopping, trying on clothes bored him and he really didn’t care what he wore but clearly Law did.
“Yeah, so what? Is it bad that I want my boyfriend to look nice?” Law said with a smirk.
As he considered that question, he took in the sight before him. Law was always impeccably dressed. Today he wore a cream colored short-sleeve shirt (top buttons unbuttoned to show up his tattooed chest, of course both his and Law’s preference) with black slacks and leather loafers. Gold hoops glinted in his ears and a nondescript but clearly expensive watch adorned his wrist. Law always looked like he just stepped out of a magazine. Even his casual clothes were perfectly tailored to his form and clearly expensive. Luffy had worn them enough to know that they were very comfortable and luxurious.
Meanwhile, Luffy refused to wear anything but sandals and shorts. Perhaps Law was just fed up with being seen with such a slob all the time. Perhaps that was the reason for the sudden shopping trip. He did seem genuine about wanting Luffy to start running with him but besides that, it just kind of felt like Luffy’s appearance wasn’t good enough for him.
“Are you ashamed of how I am now? Am I not good enough?” The words flowed out of Luffy’s mouth before he could stop them. Law’s smile immediately vanished, turning into what appeared to be guilt once again. Shit. He had just fucking told himself that he would be on his best behavior and here he was ruining it only seconds later. Law squeezed his hand that he was still holding and he felt his heart drop.
“That’s not it at all… I just thought it would be nice to spoil you and buy you things you wouldn’t have bought yourself otherwise,” Law looked down at the table and Luffy immediately felt bad. He shouldn’t have assumed Law was ashamed of him. His own self-doubts were taking over.
“Is it so bad that I want to spoil you and buy you nice things? I thought you liked it when I did that… I’ve never really had anyone to care about before I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing,” Law muttered pressing a hand to his face. He was right. This was exactly what he wanted. Luffy enjoyed nothing more in the world than the idea of Law catering to his every whim. Luffy loved it even more when Law did it because he wanted to. He was just letting his lingering self-doubts cloud his mind.
“So you don’t think I’m a slob and you’re not embarrassed to be seen with me?” Luffy spoke softly. Law’s reassurance had made him feel better and he understood it now. He just needed the verbal confirmation or he would dwell on his foolishness for days to come.
“Well you totally can be a slob sometimes but no, I would never be ashamed to be seen with you.” Law paused for a second, appearing to almost contemplate if he wanted to continue “you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever met and I want everyone who sees you with me to be jealous that you’re mine,” Law met his eyes the whole time he spoke and his small smile returned. Luffy could tell he was being genuine.
Luffy’s heart swelled and Law’s words made him borderline want to cry. No one had ever called him beautiful so unabashedly like Law did. He wanted to kick himself for ever doubting Law. Although his partner didn’t often express his emotions so openly, Luffy could feel how genuine he was being now. He loved it when Law was possessive and with those words, he just wanted to pounce across the table and knock his sexy ass over with a kiss. If they weren’t in public right now he absolutely would have.
“You promise?” Luffy whined as he raised his pinky to Law who rolled his eyes but wrapped his own finger around it nonetheless.
“I promise. You can pick out whatever you like, I don’t care. But I’m still getting you shoes. You’re not getting out of running. Deal?” Luffy nodded. It was at that moment that their food came and Luffy licked his lips excitedly.
“Deal. Now let’s eat, this looks sooo good,” He agreed as he eyed the large stack of waffles topped with berries and whipped cream. He drizzled a hefty amount of syrup on top and wasted no time cutting into the stack and taking an extra large bite.
“Mmmmm…” he moaned as the sweetness filled his mouth. Law eyed him amusingly as he always did when Luffy thoroughly enjoyed his food. Luffy had never really thought about it before but perhaps Law just enjoyed seeing him content and happy. That’s why he always watched him eat with such a contented expression.
He really was so damn lucky. What had he done to deserve such an attentive partner? Law always said he was the selfish one, but there was no way. The reality was that Luffy was the real selfish one in this relationship. As much as he cared, he wouldn’t stop. He would be as selfish as possible if that meant Law would stay with him forever.
The couple finished their breakfast and Law led Luffy through town with their hands intertwined as was normal. Thinking back on it, Luffy should have realized that a man who was embarrassed to be with him wouldn’t walk around so unashamedly holding hands or with Luffy hanging on arm all the time. Idiot.
They had ventured to a few shops and found a variety of items for Luffy. They bought A few shirts, mostly t-shirts but he had gotten two nicer shirts, one black linen and another in a pretty sky blue. He had also bought some sweatpants and shorts for lounging around the house and working out as well as two pairs of what Law deemed ‘decent pants’. Luffy did grumble about the idea of having to wear pants over shorts. He argued that they lived on a tropical island and it never got that cold and he had pants for work, but Law putting his foot down that shorts all the time was childish and work clothes did not count as real clothes.
Finally they made their way to a shoe store and the second they walked in Luffy knew he was going to hate it there. There was nothing he disliked more than restrictive footwear. There was a reason he only wore sandals. Law grabbed a few styles in different sizes and set them in front of him. Luffy sat there with arms crossed, pouting.
“Come on, don’t be like that. They’re just shoes. Try them on,” Luffy didn’t move and Law rolled his eyes before kneeling in front of him and taking his shoes off, slipping on socks that appeared out of nowhere. He grabbed Luffy’s crossed arm and unhooked it, placing a shoe in his hand.
“Luffy. Don’t make me say it again” Law said sternly and Luffy scoffed before begrudgingly slipping the shoes on his feet and tying them.
“There. Am I done?” Luffy said crankily, pointing his toes at Law.
“Go walk around and see if they fit properly,” Law shooed him away and Luffy slinked off to walk around the store. The shoes did in fact fit and they were actually kind of comfortable but Luffy wouldn’t dare admit that.He wandered towards the back of the store and a door caught his eye that gave him a fun idea.
He returned to Law and pulled off the sneakers, placing them into the box they came from. He slid his sandals on and eyed the store associate who was busy helping a customer before grabbing Law by the hand and harshly pulling him behind him.
“What are you doing?” Law questioned as he stumbled behind. Luffy smirked before opening the door and pushing Law in by his chest. He slipped through the frame himself before flipping the lock behind him. Law looked around at the bathroom they were now in with a raised eyebrow.
“You want to tell me what this is all about?” Law questioned as he eyed him. Luffy didn’t speak as he stalked towards Law, wrapping his hands around the taller man’s neck as he pushed him against the wall, body hitting with a soft thud. Luffy’s body hummed with anticipation. He hadn’t seduced Law in such a public place before and it surprisingly excited him.
“This is how you’re supposed to choke the person you’re dating, not when you’re angry,” He purred as he tightened his grip. Law’s eyes widened at the action and his words.
“Luffy… I said I was sorry.” Law was breathing harder now as he clearly realized what the smaller man was up to. Luffy thoroughly enjoyed the sight of Law trapped within his grasp, arms dangling by his side. He could get used to this.
“Now you can make it up to me. I’ve been wanting you all day. Especially when you talked about making people jealous that I was all yours,” Luffy whispered as he brought his mouth to Law’s chin, licking it before trailing open mouthed kisses up towards his pierced ears, still gripping his neck. He sucked on the hoops and Law’s breath hitched.
Luffy let go of the hand that was wrapped around his boyfriend’s neck deeming his point made. He brought his tongue to Law’s neck, pressing a kiss against it before he began roughly sucking and biting the sensitive skin. He would mark Law and show the world that the most beautiful man in the world was his. Normally Law would stop him from making visible marks since it was ‘unprofessional for a doctor’ clearly was enjoying it too much right now to care.
Law groaned as his now free hands reached for Luffy’s ass, pushing their bodies together. Luffy slung his arms around Law’s neck as he pressed their lips together in a fervent kiss. He grinded against Law as they kissed, cock twitching and begging for stimulation as he felt Law’s hardness on his own.
Law’s hungry mouth opened for him as he pushed his tongue into it, kissing him greedily. Law’s hands reached towards his shorts, undoing them before he slipped a strong hand inside to grip his length.
“Law…” Luffy groaned as Law pushed his pants down more to release his cock. His lithe fingers stroked his length, teasingly pushing a thumb into the tip to elicit more precum. Luffy grinded into his hand as he felt his body heat up, his kisses growing hungrier and sloppier.
“More,” He demanded.
“I’m not fucking you in a public restroom, Luffy,” Law growled into his mouth and Luffy whined, body screaming for Law to just take him without caring where. He was insatiable when it came to this man and he hadn’t felt him inside of him in over a day which was entirely too long. Luffy undid Law’s pants and swiftly pulled out the other’s length, stroking it roughly.
“I want you…” Luffy panted into the taller man’s mouth, hoping to convince him otherwise as he pushed even more into Law’s hand with his now slick cock.
“I want you too, just not here. Don’t worry, I’ll still take care of you. I know you won’t let me go until I do,” Law smirked.
Suddenly, Luffy felt weightless as his feet left the ground. His legs instinctively wrapped around Law’s waist who had scooped him up in his arms and maneuvered them so Luffy’s back was now pressed against the wall. Law used one hand to grip both of their lengths as he stroked them in sync. Luffy moaned at the feeling of the heat of them pressed together and brought one of his hands that was wrapped around Law’s neck down to join them.
They caressed in tandem, panting into each other's mouths. The slick of their combined precum served as the perfect lubricant. Luffy felt the heat building inside of him and increased the strength and pace of his strokes. Law, sensing his increased desire, met him as they both thrust into their joined hands. Luffy’s eyes lulled shut as the pleasure flowed through him, his favorite thing in the world. He came hotly with a cry, liquid flowing over their joined hands.
“Good boy. But sorry, I’m not done yet,” Law praised through his panting as he unwrapped his arm that was holding Luffy, dropping him to the ground softly. Luffy’s knees were wobbly as he basked in the pleasure of his orgasm. He looked up at Law through dazed eyes and took in the view from below of the gorgeous red-faced man as he panted and continued to stroke himself. Fuck this was so hot.
“Open up,” Law commanded as he grabbed him by the hair. Luffy did as commanded, Law thrusting harshly into his mouth and hitting the back of his throat. Luffy let out a ‘Mmmm’ as his lips surrounded Law.
“It’s so sexy when you let me fuck your face, baby,” Law groaned as he quickened his pace, bucking into Luffy’s mouth hard. Luffy didn’t move his head as Law gripped his hair and let him have his way. Now that he had come back to his senses, he savored the feeling of Law choking him with his cock. He loved watching Law unravel and the sight of him looming over him made Luffy feel degraded in all the right ways.
Law didn’t last long after that. To Luffy’s surprise, he quickly pulled his cock out of Luffy’s mouth and stroked it with his own tattooed hand, coming directly onto Luffy’s face. Law’s arms fell against the wall above him, Luffy now trapped in between him and the wall. He breathed heavily and met Law’s gaze as he stared down at him.
“God you look so perfect with my cum all over your face,” Luffy, momentarily enraptured in the sight of Law, had totally forgotten about the sticky substance covering him. He smirked devilishly and wiped his cheek with his pointer finger. He gazed up at his partner above him unblinking as he brought the finger to his lips, sucking on it slowly and intently.
“Tasty,” he purred. Law didn’t break their gaze as he knelt down to Luffy’s level. His mesmerized lover reached out to grab his chin as he stared at him with a satisfied gaze.
“You have no fucking idea what you do to me,” Law breathed before bringing their lips together for a slow and passionate kiss. He broke it a moment later.
“Did I make it up to you?” Law questioned, still holding his face. Luffy wasn’t completely satisfied without the feeling of Law inside him but his thirst was whet for the moment.
“Not yet. I still need more of you,” Luffy murmured. Law deemed that a problem for later and stood up, presenting a hand to Luffy to help him stand.
“You’re never satisfied, are you? Come on, don’t think I was distracted enough to forget why we came here, I know what you were trying to do,” he said as Luffy pouted but took his hand and allowed him to lift him up. Law led him to the sink and turned the faucet on. He washed his own hands thoroughly before grabbing a towel and nodding to Luffy.
“Wash your face, you look like a slut with my cum all over your face,” Law tsked. Luffy knew he loved it and surely would enjoy showing him off like that if it wasn’t so extremely taboo.
“You sure? Thought you wanted everyone to see that I belonged to you,” Luffy grinned before splashing water on his face.
“I’m sure anyone could tell with just one look at my neck, you vampire,” Law scoffed. Luffy blinked the water out of his eyes and glanced at Law’s neck. He had blooming bruise on his neck where Luffy was biting him earlier. Good. Luffy wasn’t any better than Law. He loved the idea of parading his insanely gorgeous model-like boyfriend around with his obvious love marks on his neck.
“Good,” Luffy spoke proudly and definitively as Law handed him a paper towel to dry his face.
They exited the bathroom, Luffy poking his head out of the door to see if anyone was around before gesturing Law to follow him. They returned to the shoes Luffy had previously been trying on. Thankfully the store associate was too lazy to put them away. He did in fact purchase the sneakers and Law somehow convinced him to also get a pair of leather boat style shoes. He was too content to put up a fight.
“Did you find everything you were looking for?” The cashier asked, seemingly oblivious to the fact that they had just disappeared to the store’s bathroom for a romantic tryst.
“Yes, thank you,” and “You don’t even know,” Law and Luffy spoke at the same time. The cashier eyed them clearly confused as he handed Law his card back. The couple glanced at each other mischievously but held in their laughter until they exited the store and it burst. They cackled in the street like idiots.
“You are such a little shit,” Law huffed. Luffy stared up at him with a gentle smile. Their earlier fight and subsequent misunderstandings were water under the bridge now. Despite everything, it really was a good day. Perhaps he and Law could really get through anything from the insignificant to the detrimental. As long as they were together.
“You love it,” Luffy replied with a wink.
“Yeah, I do,” Law agreed and took his hand. They made their way back home, Law carrying most of the bags over his shoulder while Luffy complained about the fact that he had to go to work in a few hours. Maybe this is what it felt like to really be happy.
