Summary: Just when Aya thinks everything is under control, things turn weird. Really weird.
Author notes: Just a reminder- /.../ indicates Chinese, //...// is telepathy, *…* is thoughts or emphasis, normal quotes is Japanese and single quotes is English. D’s reincarnated father is referred to as ‘D’, Leon’s D being out of the picture. And Sofu D is Leon’s D’s grandfather, but reincarnated Papa D thinks Sofu D is his grandfather. Confused yet?

Leon blinked when he reached the door to his room. Whatever was in his room, it felt like him. But it wasn’t him. The fuck?? He extended his senses and was rewarded with a vision of a blue eyed blonde who could have almost been his twin looking up at him.
‘Chris!’ he almost yelled and burst through the door, startling his brother who had been standing in the open doorway to his closet. ‘Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been, you brat?!!’
The younger Orcot could only manage a strangled ‘Oomph!’ as his older brother nearly crushed him in a bear hug.
/I…I hate to ask, but even though I know your name, I don’t know who you are./ Chris ‘said‘, when he finally got over the initial shock.
‘What? I’m your brother! How can you not remember me?!’ Leon demanded.
/D says it’s brain fry, or something like that. It happened sometime when I was 12 or 13, I’m not exactly sure. All I know was my head was all full of voices and I couldn‘t stand it. The last thing I remember before waking up in the pet shop was a woman screaming. Hearing it with my ears as well as my mind. Apparently I gave one of the customers an aneurysm before I came to myself. Needless to say, D was really surprised to see me there. He’s been taking care of me ever since, teaching me how to control my abilities and all that./
‘You found the pet shop all on your own?’ This was not what Leon had expected, not by a lonot. ot. But now he figured it was a sure bet that his aunt’s untimely death due to a massive embolism in the brain wasn’t natural causes after all. Not that he was going to tell Chris that. So why did Sofu D evade the question about his brother? And then there was that niggling there’s-something-rotten-in-Denmark feeling that wouldn’t go away.
/Yeah, and I have no idea how I knew where it was, much less get there./
A fragment of memory brushed across Leon’s mind. If the human child stays too long in the pet shop, he may never be able to return to the human world… The mental voice sounded suspiciously like his D. ‘Well it’s possible that while you might’ve left the pet shop, it never left you.’ Leon sighed. ‘And that was my fault. When you were staying with me, I couldn’t leave you alone in my apartment all day, and D, my D that is, was the only person I could think of to leave you with. That was before I knew what he was, of course.’
/What he was…/
‘You do know that the D’s aren’t human, right?’
/Of course! I don’t know exactly what they are, but the whole pet shop is supernatural in nature./
‘Well, you know about as much as I know, then.’ Leon slumped down on the couch. He was definitely going to have another chat with Sofu D, like it or not. Chris sat down next to him.
/Um, not that I don’t believe you or anything, but if you’re my brother, how come you’re not human?/
Leon scowled. ‘I’m still part human,’ he said defensively, ‘There was an explosion- thanks to the D you live with, and my blood got mixed.’ He paused and looked at his wide-eyed brother. ‘I shot him right between the eyes, but it seems he’s recovered. Not with his memories intact, though.’
/He remembered you shooting him. He remembered when he saw you. I can’t normally see his thoughts, but I saw that. Why?/
‘Why did I shoot him?’ When Chris nodded, Leon continued with a sigh. ‘He was nuts. I think in his twisted mind he loved and hated humans at the same time. Anyway, he said he had concocted a virus to eliminate all mankind. I thought he was going to release it. So I shot him…but he hit the button anyway. Instead of releasing a virus, it set off an explosion destroying his laboratory. There was never any sign of a virus found afterwards.’
/That can’t be right! The D I know would never do a thing like that!/
‘Kid, I’m just telling you what happened. You can’t tell me that the D I met today wasn’t the same one I shot 13 years ago. And you know it was him, because you just told me yourself what you saw in his mind.’
/….can’t be…/ Chris weakly protested.
Leon sank back further into the couch and closed his eyes. ‘Who knows. Maybe being reborn straightened out whatever issues he had.’
/Oh./
They were silent for a moment then. Then Leon’s eyes flew open as he pinpointed the source of his ‘something’s not right here’ feeling. In a flash of movement he had his brother by the front of his shirt and was sniffing at his neck.
/WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!!!/ Chris mentally screamed.
Moments later, res rest of Weiss was in Leon’s apartment.
“That’s a good question, Lee what *are* you doing?” Yohji asked upon seeing the apparently compromising position the two brothers were in.
“Sweet,” Leon stated flatly and abruptly let go of Chris’ shirt, dropping the younger man back onto the couch.
“What?” Ken asked. Why was he always feeling left out of the loop these days?
“He smells sweet.” Leon growled angrily and yanked open his desk drawer and grabbed his .45.
“Whoa, Lee, where do you think you’re going with that?” Yohji demanded, making sure he, Ken, and Aya were blocking the door.
“Orcot’s really lost it this time…” Ken commented quietly, and received a ‘hn‘ in response from Aya.
“I am going to kill that fucking son of a bitch, and I am going to make fucking sure he stays dead this time,” Leon snarled, showing fangs, “Now move before I make you!!”
“We’re not going anywhere until you start making sense!” Yohji retorted. The other two nodded their agreement.
Leon gave them his own version of a death glare and tucked the .45 into the back of his jeans. Then, before they could blink, Aya and Yohji found themselves knocked against the wall courtesy of Leon slamming a hand into both of their chests. A swift backhand knocked Ken to the floor.
Chris had recovered from his shock as soon as he realized who his brother was going after. /LEON!! Don’t! Don’t kill him, he’s my boyfriend! He didn’t hurt me! Leon listen to me!!/ The younger blonde only nearly avoided Ken’s prone form and dodged the other two assassins in his haste to get out the door and after his brother.
Yohji and Aya exchanged a look as they gasped for breath. “Shit. And I thought you were touchy about your sister,” Yohji managed to get out after a moment of doing a good impression of a fish out of water. Aya shook his head ruefully, and after a quick check to make sure Ken wasn’t seriously hurt, they were out the door.
*******
Chris had caught up to Leon and was futilely grabbing at his arm in an attempt to make him stop.
/Leon, I love him, he loves me. Please, don’t do this, I’m begging you. Just because you smelled him on me…/
Leon stopped dead in his tracks, and grabbed Chris by the arm that was holding him. ‘I’m not going to kill him because I smelled him on you, because I didn’t. I’m going to kill him, because I smelled kami coming from you. Do you understand? He’s changed you. You. Are. Not. Human.’
Chris stood there, stunned. /It’s not true. Why are you saying these things to me?! IT’S NOT TRUE!!!/ Several people who were unfortunate enough to be passing the two on the sidewalk at that moment clutched at their heads and staggered away. A few had nosebleeds.
Leon let his nails grow into claws and viciously gouged deep scratches in Chris’ arm before letting go. ‘Now look at your arm and tell me it isn’t true.” Then he turned and stormed off.
The younger Orcot cried out, but forgot his pain as he watched in fascinated horror to see tiny root-like tendrils exposed by the tears in his flesh extend and pull the wounds closed and heal over like they were never there. Clutching his arm, though there was no reason to, he ran after his brother.
Aya grabbed Yohji by the shoulder and held him back when he saw the crowd scatter around the Orcot brothers.
“What?” He demanded.
“Leon’s brother is telepathically yelling. Can’t you hear him?”
“No…”
Aya narrowed his eyes. “We should keep our distance. At least until one or both of them calm down.”
Yohji looked unhappy but nodded. Unfortunately, there was a good chance Leon wouldn’t calm down until he’d left the unlucky SOB who’d messed with his brother scattered all over the place in little pieces.
Leon burst violently through the door of the pet shop, nearly tearing the door off its hinges. Animals that had been lounging in the front room fled in every direction.
‘D!! Where are you, you bastard?!’
Q-chan fluttered down from the ceiling and transformed into Sofu fro front of him.
Leon pointed his gun at the elder kami. ‘Where is he? Where’s your son?!!’ He didn’t even care that he was yelling in English.
//Why this sudden desire to repeat history?// the kami asked quietly.
‘Why? Don’t tell me you don’t know. That’s why you wouldn’t tell me you had my brother when we spoke earlier!!’ One could almost see the smoke coming out of his ears.
Sofu D never lost that infuriating calm of his. //I thought he was better off not knowing that he has an assassin for a brother. Besides, he cannot return to the human world. He is no longer a part of it. My son has taken good care of him, I think.//
‘You call turning him into a hybrid like me and planting his seed in him taking good care of him?!!’ The half-kami exploded.
For the first time, Sofu D looked shocked. ‘Of course not. One abomination is bad enough,’ he huffed.
‘It’s not an abomination, Grandfather!’ D said before Leon could even react as he entered the room. Then, glaring at Leon, he added, ‘Chris is mine. I can do with him as I wish.’
/I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU JUST SAID THAT!!!/ Even Leon winced at his brother’s mental blast.
/YOU REALLY THINK I’M YOUR PROPERTY?!!/ Chris stormed into the room to confront his lover.
Yohji and Aya staggered in a moment later. The playboy lay down on the couch and pinched his nose to stop the bleeding, and Aya simply sat down in a chair and clutched at his head. Leon was too furious and too absorbed in watching his brother stalk up to his reincarnated lover to sense their presence.
//Please, Chris,//D pleaded, switching back to Chinese. //It was never my intent to harm you.//
/YOU NEVER EVEN ASKED IF THIS WAS WHAT I WANTED! YOU…YOU/ He lifted his fist as if to strike /JERK! I OUGHTA…/ The wind seemed to go out of his sails then, and tears streamed down his cheeks. /Forget it. I’m going to go stay with my brother./ He dropped his fist and turned his back on a very stunned and unhappy kami.
/C’mon Leon, let’s go./ he ‘said’ as he passed his brother.
Leon for the first time noticed his teammates suffering the effects of being too near a pissed off telepath. The incense in the room definitely wasn’t helping them any, either.
//I think you should get them out of here quickly,//Sofu D told him, with a very real look of concern and not just because they were suffering from mild brain fry. //And keep an eye on them for a while. Something is not right.//
‘You’re telling me,’ Leon muttered, and hauled the playboy and his leader to their feet.
*******
Ken, of course, was very conscious and very livid when they got back. Yohji just patted him on the back and said, “It was justified. Believe me on this.” Then he staggered off to the kitchen where Leon gave him an icepack and a couple of aspirin. Chris had made a beeline for the kitchen table and was now sobbing into his folded arms. At least he wasn’t mentally blasting anyone, for which Aya and Yohji were extremely grateful.
“Well, did you kill the guy?” Ken asked sarcastically.
“No.” Though it was obvious Leon was still pissed.
“All that fuss, and you didn’t go through with it?”
“Ken, leave it,” Aya ordered.
“Leave it? He plowed right through us, without even a decent explanation, and you want me to leave it?”
Aya didn’t need this. His head was still pounding. He turned to Leon. “I think you should take your brother upstairs.”
Leon nodded and helped Chris up. “C’mon kid. It’s going to be alright. Let’s talk in my rooms, okay?” The upset telepath went with him without a fuss.
“Okay, they’re gone. Now tell me what happened!” Ken said, completely exasperated.
Ken just stood there with his mouth open. “You’re kidding right?”
Yohji groaned. “Oh, how I wish I were.”
“There’s *two* of them…” Ken muttered under his breath as he walked out.
The honey blond playboy turned to his silent teammate. “Did you notice those two at the shop. They looked just like Leon’s deceased friend. I mean, identical!”
“Yes, I noticed. And one is supposedly the other’s grandfather.” Aya let go of the counter and collapsed onto one of the kitchen chairs. He was feeling lightheaded, and it was gradually getting worse. He clutched at the kitchen table as the room started to swim. “Yohji…”
“Easy, I got you.” Yohji wrapped his arms around the redhead’s waist and guided him up the stairs.
“Yohji…I need you to keep an eye on me.”
“Sure, no problem Aya. Hope you don’t mind the mess in my room.” Aya certainly was acting like he had a concussion. Yohji wondered why he wasn’t suffering the same effects, since they’d been about the same distance from Chris the whole time. As he laid Aya out on his own bed, the first wave of nausea hit him.
He sank to his knees next to the bed, breathing heavily. It seemed to ease up, and he relaxed. Then it returned, a little stronger this time, before fading away. By the third time it happened, Yohji was catching on to the pattern and dashed for the bathroom. He sat crouched over the toilet for over an hour praying that he could just puke and have it *done with* already. He’d prayed to the porcelain god many a time, but he couldn’t remember it ever having been *this* bad before.
When Yohji finally started retching, Ken heard it as he passed the bottom of the stairs. He thought it was a bit soon for the playboy to be getting sick from drinking and made his way up to the third floor to investigate. About halfway up he heard a POP and a faint tinkling of glass as all the lights went out.
He could made the rest of his way up following an intermittent flickering light, which turned out to be coming from under the bathroom door.
*Great. Kudou’s gotten himself drunk, and is playing with a strobe light in the bathroom. Not to mention blowing a fuse in the process. Jackass.* He banged on the bathroom door. Loudly. “Yohji! Open the door Yohji, or I’ll open it myself!” No answer. Wonderful. He’d better not be naked in there.
It was no wonder that he wasn’t prepared to find a fully dressed Yohji sitting cross-legged on the floor of the bathroom, staring dumbly at the jagged little bolts of electricity dancing between his fingers as he held both hands out in front of his face. It looked like all the light bulbs over the sink had exploded, glass was everywhere.
Ken instantly shut the door on the sight and leaned against it for a moment, hyperventilating.
About 30 seconds later…
“AYA!!” Ken banged on his leader’s door. “Aya, are you in there? Answer the door!! Aya!! Fuck! Where are you?!” He had to find Aya. No way was he going to go to Orcot for help.
“What is it?” Ken turned around to see Aya exit Yohji’s apartment. He swayed slightly as he let go of the door jamb.
“Thank heavens. Aya, you’ve gotta come see this. Yohji, he’s…ooh shiit…”
Aya looked like a ghost in the soft flickering light emanating from under the bathroom door. That wasn’t the problem, but it was making the problem look that much worse. Ken could *see* Aya’s breath in the dim light. And as he felt the temperature drop rapidly he could see his own breath as well. He heard a crackling noise and looked down to see ice forming around Aya’s bare feet.
“What the fuck is wrong with you, Aya?” Ken asked, very nervous. Aya just gave him a dazed empty stare and unsteadily walked toward him, actually, toward the bathroom, leaving icy footprints behind him.
Ken unconsciously backed up a couple steps, then caught a hold of himself. Using a simple soccer move to weave his way around his *literally* icy leader, he made a mad dash down the hall to Leon’s apartment.
*What now* Leon thought as he went to answer the door, knowing full well that Ken was on the other side. Chris had sobbed himself to sleep a couple of hours ago, and the last thing he needed was to wake the kid up with a yelling match.
He opened the door to find a very white-faced, shaking Ken in front of him.
“You’ve got to come see this, Leon…”

Omake:
Ken: I’m not going to turn into a freak, too, am I?
Leon: Of course not. Weiss is the mirror image of Schwartz, so you’re Farfie’s counterpart. No special powers, just vicious brutality.
Ken (defensive): Hey, I’m not that crazy!
Yohji: Not yet, but you’re getting there. I saw you licking the blood off your bugnuks not 2 missions ago.
Ken: Shut up freak.
Yohji: Psycho.
