It's been a while since we've had some undiluted fluff, so that's all this chapter's all about..!
I really hope you guys like it
.......................................................................................................................................................
"Our Ace-san doesn't disappoint..!", beamed an extremely happy Kiyoshi.
Pulling away from his girlfriend's ever so comfortable embrace, Aomine smiles softly at the centre.
"Kiyoshi-san...", but before he could finish,
"I'm so proud of my boys..!", Mira grabs both their hands and grins at em. "You guys were absolutely FANTASTIC out there"
"All thanks to our little coach of course", Aomine just couldn't help himself.
"Why you..!", Mira's expression changes immediately into one of pure rage, Kiyoshi grabs her, although a little too late. She pulls herself out, playfully raging at the blunette, Kiyoshi backs away, smiling apologetically.
"Dai-chan..!", Momoi jumps on the blunette pulling him away from Mira's dangerous clutches. "For the first time in a long time Dai-chan has manageD to play with the team. I'm so glad..."
"Oi Satsuki... It's not that big of a deal", Aomine blushes slightly.
"Nonsense..! Looks like Mira-chan brought the old you back", her brows twitch suggestively.
"I think It's more of a new and improved version of Aominechhi"
"Kise..?", his eyes then land on the other colored heads behind him too. "All of you came..?"
"Of course we did..! Kurokocchi and Kagamicchi wouldn't shut up about this new you... We just couldn't resist", Aomine then glares at the duo.
"I agree. Your playing style has become... Interesting", Midorima says pushing his glasses up. "Not that I'm interested or anything... I wasn't even keen on coming here. Takao just pulled me"
"Don't be like that Shin-chan", Takao whines. "You were gonna sneak in here anyway...", Midorima glares at him to shut up.
"Mido-chin and Taka-chin, maybe some pocky will calm you down..?", Murasakibara hands over his candy, dangling it in their faces.
"Whoa..! So you're the rest of the Generation of Miracles..", Mira cuts in gazing at them, amazed.
"Yup..! Except Akashicchi of course...", Kise jumps forward and takes her hand in his, giving it a soft peck. "Ryota Kise, pleased to meet you", his eyes sparkling, a charming smile on his features.
"Hands off", Aomine suddenly pulls Mira to him.
"Daiki..."
"Awww so cute..! Aominecchi's so possessive"
"Kise..!", Aomine blushes slightly but almost lunges forward.
"It's fine Daiki", a lean yet unusually strong hand grips him. "I'm sorry Kise-kun. And pleased to meet you too", she smiles at him.
"Mira-chin, would you like a snack..?", whoa this guy is HUGE.
"Gee thanks uhh...", what's his name again..?
"Atsushi", Himuro cuts in, smiling gently at her. "It's been a while Mira-san"
"Tatsuya..!", she steps forward and gives him a small hug. "It sure has"
"Great game", he congratulates her, hugging her back giving her a peck in the cheek. Aomine steps forward possessively making Himuro snicker.
Kagami waves to him from farther away. He pulls away slowly, congratulating her once again and walks to his brother.
"You seem to be controlling this hard bunch pretty well Mira-chan"
"Thank you Takao-kun but trust me when I say, there's a LOT of energy that goes into it"
"I'm sure it does nanodayo", Midorima steps forward. "Midorima Shintarou, pleased to meet you", he extends his hand for a shake, pushing his glasses up with the other, an impressed smile on his face.
"Same here", Mira gladly extends her in return.
"That's enough you guys", Aomine suddenly says in a slightly irritated tone. He's not awfully fond of his ex-teammates charming his girl.
"Hostile as ever Aomine", Imayoshi smirks as he greets him, a nervous Sakurai right behind him.
"I'm really sorry Aomine-san", Sakurai bows in apology. "Sorry to be bothering you"
"So you're the infamous 'apologetic mushroom' huh..?", Mira smiles at Sakurai.
"I'm sorry..?", he tilts his head, confused.
"Hyuuga there is all praise for ya"
Sakurai glares at the captain who smiles at him playfully.
"So how's Aomine treating you..?"
"With respect", she says proudly. "And he's really sweet...", she winks at him, making him blush again.
"No pervy things..?"
She chuckles at that. "Not yet Imayoshi-san"
He smiles at her and then at Aomine. He's actually impressed that his kohai has managed to score a girl like this... Someone who can thoroughly kick that arrogant butt of his.
"Aominecchi just you wait, we're gonna make it to the final too and we can have another one on one..!", Kise beams excitedly.
"Sure.", Aomine smirks at him. "I'll be waiting"
"Yes..!", the blond chirps again. He's really missed their one on ones and can't wait to show his rival his new moves.
"Just don't keep me waiting too long Kise", the blunette ruffles his hair playfully.
"Aominecchi..!!"
In the background, the audience clears away leaving the two teams and some friends from either side. Hanamiya glares at the Keio team, still trying to take in the fact that he's lost yet again. He then turns his head away in disgust at the sight. The rest of his team hang their heads in disappointment and defeat.
"Makoto...", an all too familiar voice calls.
"Come to rub it in Kiyoshi..?", he chuckles falsely.
"Makoto please don't be like that..."
"What do you want..?", he sneers at the centre cutting him off.
"I just don't want to fight you...", Kiyoshi sighs. "Could we just settle our differences and try and get along..?"
"Get along..? And with YOU..? My apologies Kiyoshi, but that's never gonna happen", he spits out in disgust.
Kiyoshi stays quiet for a few moments, contemplating what he's gonna say next. And suddenly, unconsciously, he blurts out questions he's always wanted to know the answers to.
"Why Makoto..? Why are you doing this..? Do you really enjoy playing in such an underhanded way..?"
"Ha..! I'm gonna be honest with you Kiyoshi, I'm really disappointed I couldn't crush you, but whatever. Cuz irrespective of whether I win or lose, it's game over for your dreams", he laughs sadistically. "Don't you get the wrong idea goody two-shoes, I never wanted to win. I just wanted to see guys like you, who've worked hard and devoted your youth to basketball, grind your teeth as you lose"
Kiyoshi remained in stunned silence, mouth agape and eyes shining with a mix of shock and disbelief at Hanamiya's words.
"Do I enjoy it..? Ohh yes I do. And what I did to you was a MASTERPIECE.", he smiles evilly at the centre. "I really hope you don't think this is the end of it"
"Makoto..."
"Got your answer Iron Heart..?", Hanamiya sneers again.
Kiyoshi sighs and shakes his head slowly. "I'm sorry Makoto", he says softly and starts walking away.
Hanamiya doesn't understand.
Why did Kiyoshi apologize..? Is it because he feels sorry for me, because he thinks I'm desperate.. Or is it because of pity... This eats into him and his rage sky-rockets.
The bushy-browed sadist stands frozen, trying hard to understand the meaning of the centre's words. He's completely missing what's right in front of him.
In a fit of rage he grabs the ball from near by and slams it toward an unsuspecting Kiyoshi, as hard as he possibly can, putting in every ounce of strength left in him. It bursts through the air, in full ignition.
"Aniki..!", Mira screams at him in warning.
He turns around, the ball inches close to his face and would have slammed right into him, if not for the large, tan hand stopping it in mid-air easily.
"That desperate are we..?", Aomine smirks mockingly.
........................................................................
"... And the. Sei-chan went totally ballistic and threatened to 'eradicate' the poor guy..!"
The boys burst out laughing. Hayama sure tells some great stories.
Mira and Riko, out of the goodness of their hearts, had decided to treat them to the nearby onsen and right now, the boys were all slumped comfortably in the steaming water, relaxing their pain away.
"Akashi-kun wouldn't be too happy to know that your spilling his secrets Hayama-san", Kuroko says amused.
"That's if he finds out Kuroko-kun. I'm trusting you guys to not tell on me", he points to the rest of them.
"Sure sure"
"So, think there might be some cute girls on the other side..?", Hayama sure is suuper enthusiastic today.
"Ohh sure. I saw a bunch go in earlier."
"Wanna take a peak..?"
"Ohh no. The last time we tried, we got slapped. Hard.", Hyuuga rubs his cheek remembering the stinging pain that shot through after Riko slapped him.
"C'mon..! It'll be fun. No girlfriends are gonna barge in on us"
"Speaking of girlfriends, I really wanna check mine out", Aomine shoots up, smirking and really excited.
"Ohh no ya don't", a strong, calloused hand holds him back. "There's not gonna be any 'checking out'. Not were my sister is concerned anyway", Kiyoshi smiles a dangerously creepy smile at the blunette, sending a shiver down his spine.
"Calm down Teppei", Hyuuga says. "It's just a peak... I'll admit, I'm a little curious too.", that he mumbles to himself, a slight blush making itself very prominent on his face as he imagines his girlfriend in the water...
"Hyuuga..!", protests Kiyoshi, breaking his bubble.
"Oi if you're all done down there, can someone please help me"
All heads turn to see a dangling Hayama. God knows what he did behind their backs to get so weirdly tangled and stuck. The poor guy's got to get himself a girl...
"Bakayama", curses Eikichi who walks over to him anyway, getting him down.
.......................................................
"Kiyoshi-san... Mind if I borrow your sister for a bit..? I'll walk her home later"
Kiyoshi turns to the blunette with a smile.
"Sure. Just don't be out too late okay..?"
"Of course..!"
As soon as the girls walk out of their rooms, Aomine grabs the brunette by the hand. "Oi Satsuki..! Can you make it home without me..?"
"Yes. I'll probably walk with Kuroko-kun", boy was she excited about that.
"Ohh okay. Tetsu..?"
"Don't worry Aomine-kun. I'll make sure to get her home"
"Cool.", he turns to his coach. "Walk with me"
As they start walking back, Mira can't help but wonder what he's got planned. Is this supposed to be like a date of some sort..? Or maybe he wants to tell her something important. Is he mad at her for some reason..?
Not wanting to let her thoughts wander off, she breaks the silence first.
"Daiki..."
His eyes turn to her in an instant, him snapping into attention.
"I was just taking to Momoi-san earlier..."
"What about..?", he asks curiously. Satsuki better not have embarrassed him infront of her.
She bites her lip. "About you... Back in school"
Ohh.
"Mira... I-I was very different then"
"So I've heard"
"You don't hate me do you..?", he asks hesitantly after a moment's silence.
"Why on earth would I hate you..?"
"Well, I wasn't exactly the greatest guy back then"
"But you are now"
Aomine's eyes widen at that, a small tint spreading across his cheeks. Did she seriously just call him that..?
"Daiki...", her voice softens. "I'll admit that you did sound to be very different back then but that doesn't matter to me.", she stops in her tracks and turns to him. "What matters to me is how you are now... And this you is amazing", holding his big blue head in her arms, she kisses him.
His eyes widen further until they slowly close, sinking into her warmth. The kiss had been slow and hesitant, and painfully brief; but it had still been enough to knock the wind out of him.
"I love you for who you are Daiki... And that includes everything even remotely you. Your past, your present... Everything", she whispered through the kiss.
Aomine pulled away slightly, still trying to process her confession.
"Why..?", he asked, his voice low. "Why are you even with me..?"
She tilts her head in confusion.
"I'm not the ideal guy Mira. I'm mean, cocky, insensitive and downright rude and all round destructive", he looks into the distant evening sky. "So why..? Why would a girl like you wanna be with me..?"
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm not that much different.."
"Huh..?"
"We're a lot alike Daiki. The only difference is that I piped down by notches when I got injured", she runs her thumb over her wrist in soothing circles. "This.. This changed me"
"Basketball was my salvation, and the one thing in the world I'd do anything to get back...", she looks to the distance too. "It's all I've got..."
"After all my family.. Is a lot fucked up. I don't really like to talk about it, but you, I need to tell."
He gives her his full attention.
"My mother is a divorcee... And that bastard of a guy left her here for dead after like a month after I was born. The reason for it , is still as stupid as could possibly be. Apparently, in his family women didn't work, they just sat in some corner cooking food and caring for children. My mom was a tad different. She was a scientist, on to become one of the best in her field and that didn't sit well them. They treated her like trash and threw her out like a used doll. Those anti-feminist bastards..!", her fists clench at the thought. "She had no one, knew no one and had to build her way up from scratch. You know, there'd be times when I came back home from school only to find her cooped up in some corner of our house, crying her eyes out. I'd never understand why... Why she always seemed so distant, so distressed, why she'd never talk to me about it. Then again I was like 5 yrs old."
Aomine didn't do anything, no comforting gestures, no words of pity or encouragement. He just stood by her side as she vented it all out.
"In all honesty, I'm pretty sure that I've spent most of my childhood running around courts rather than school grounds", she says with a disheartened chuckle. "And then I met basketball. We were walking home from a court hearing that day, my mom had just about won custody of me and we had decided to take the scenic route home when we came across this huge street court with these big guys bouncing a ball practically half my size"
"I'd stopped walking and was clinging to the fence, watching in absolute amazement as the ball flew around, them jumping so high, like on a trampoline... My mom had to scrape me off that fence, literally. But by then I'd been noticed and they'd been kind enough to let this little girl in, watching in fascination as she watched them.", she smiles at the memory. "They even taught me a little in the following days, but I was way too tiny to grasp onto much."
"And soon after, I met Aniki. He was the ideal brother I tell you. Smart, protective, BIG. His parents had supported us immensely through our lag phase. Hell they'd practically pulled my mother out that pit of fire. But then, they'd passed away in an accident.", she looked to the ground. "Kiyoshi was heart-broken. I still remember the faces he'd made, twisted and in pain. And again I was just way to young to understand it all, to comfort him. But that didn't stop me from trying..."
She looks to the blunette, her eyes glinting with pained happiness. "But it was just marvelous as to how quickly he'd seem to accept it and move on. Obviously that wasn't the case, but that's how he'd made it seem. It was so damn convincing. He then moved in with us and that's when we got really close, even closer after I'd found out that he played that same jumping sport"
"A few years later, my mom got re-married. The guy seemed nice enough, but his parents were the biggest pain in the world. Always complaining, always demanding, always demeaning. They hated my mother for her guts, her job, her superiority and so shunned her completely...", she sighs tiredly. "but as always she'd picked herself up, dusted down and moved on. The only difference was that this time, I was there. I was old enough, I understood and I'd boil with rage", she chuckles again. "I still do. But I've come to understand that they're not really worth burning my brain cells over. Any of them."
"Some life huh..?"
"I'm so sorry...", he says softly.
"Me too. But that's all in the past right..?"
He nods at her with an understanding smile. "I can't tell you how glad I am that you came back though...", he took her hand in his and squeezes it reassuringly. "I can't tell you glad I am that I met you..."
She lets out a soft laugh. "And I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am that you're here with me", she squeezes back.
"But if you wanna thank anyone for me being here, thank Kiyoshi. It was his idea to get me coaching anyway. I guess no matter how hard I tried to hide it, he'd figured out how bad it affected me, not being around basketball I mean."
He lets out a soft chuckle and ghosts his fingers over her knuckles, rubbing them soothingly.
"So anyway... What's this 'walk' all about..?"
"Oh right I almost forgot", he stiffened. And the next moment was a complete blur as he grabbed her and and took off, pulling her with him.
"Aho where the hell are you taking me..?"
He wouldn't tell her though, hell he wouldn't even turn around to look at her. A wide smile played on his lips and the young coach couldn't help but wonder what his 'surprise' would be.
They ran and ran and ran right into this make-shift forest of sorts. The sun had set completely by then and stars seemed to make their way slowly into the sky. As they went deeper, the sky sparkled brighter.
"Ouch..! Aho why the hell do we have to walk on these dark paths, the moon reaches the upper branches, but hardly lights the ground..!"
No reply again.
With a soft sigh, Mira turned her face up to the moon shining overhead, a silvery beacon in the velvet black sky. Her eyes glowed beneath the moonlight's soft caress, revealing the shadows that haunted their brown depths.
Aomine led her into a small clearing by a river and turned to her, a fond smile gracing his features.
The moonlight was good to Aomine. Beneath its touch his dark hair gleamed blue black, tan skin glowing against the contrast of his dark features.
"So what'd you wanna show me..?"
And he was on his heels again, this time walking backwards. A few more steps down the river bank. A gasp.
"Daiki..."
The moon wasn't full anymore, but it was big enough to illuminate the river, which stretched out and was indeed a big one. But that wasn't what made the brunette gasp...
Paper lanterns.
Dozens of paper lanterns, being lit by the few people on the shore, were floating in the night sky, making the whole view... magical. Yellow and red and orange were glowing softly in the night as if fairies had come to give the humans some of their light.
"Wait here...", Aomine said quietly and Mira only nodded, watching the lantern lit sky, mesmerized.
She came here once before, when she was really tiny. It was around the time Kiyoshi had first moved in with them and her mother had taken them for a treat for striking a huge deal at work. The memory was as vivid as can be but somehow, looking at a similar view now, it just seemed so much more beautiful.
"Hey..."
Aomine came back with two folded pieces of paper and a small candle. He gave the candle to her and unfolded the first lantern, at the same time explaining its working.
Mira just smiled and bent a little to press a gentle kiss on the blunette's cheek. She then whispered a simple "thank you" in his ear.
Both their lanterns were now unfolded and Aomine lit them with the candle. When he was sure the lanterns were properly lit he instructed Mira to hold them still for a while and went to leave the candle floating on the surface of the lake, just like a few others. And again, the brunette watched mesmerized.
He came back next to his love and quietly said: "Make a wish"
They both stared at their own lantern before silently letting them float above the lake, their wishes floating with them.
They walked further down the river, hand in hand, watching the lanterns move through the water's tresses slowly, illuminating their way.
Aomine then suddenly froze to a halt and turned to her again. He took her hands in his and stared her into attention.
"I'm not used to being afraid, Mira.", he started, relaxing a little. "Growing up, I felt a lot of things- hate, rage, inadequacy; but I was never really afraid. Somehow I believed in myself, because I couldn't afford to believe in anyone else. Tetsu and Satsuki were definitely there but they had meant toO much to me for me to burden them with my problems..."
Aomine reached up to brush the bangs out of her face and smiled as the latter leaned into the caress. "But somewhere along the line, I started to lose that part of me that shielded me all this time. I had become a monster, insensitive and ruthless, uncaring of who or what I destroyed. And when I couldn't see myself as the person I thought I was, the last of my security left and the fear crept in. Like Satsuki would have said, I didn't handle it well. I know I shouldn't have shut them out. I should have stopped avoiding the pain and dealt with it."
"Daiki...", she started but was cut off.
"But irrespective of that, no matter what was happening to me, I knew I could rely on myself to do the right thing and figure out a way to overcome it. I had my unshakeable code by which I survived. That was all I had, until I met you."
He smiled at her gently and pulled her a little closer.
"High school changed me and so did losing to Tetsu that day, but more than anything else, you changed me. And you still do... You make me want to be someone better, make me wanna be worthy of someone like you. I know I'm not there yet, but I swear to God, I'll get there"
Mira stared at him, eyes wide and mouth agape, still processing his words. Her eyes stung as she looked to the sky and was trying her hardest to figure out what on earth she did for him to say something as surreal as that.
A dozen retorts leapt to mind, but the brunette couldn't force them past her suddenly tight throat. Still looking up at the distant stars, she was surprised when they began to blur. Touching her cheek, she started feeling the wet warmth of her tears. Embarrassed by her reaction to the ace's round-about confession, Mira tried to turn her face away, only to have the movement halted by a tan hand.
Cupping her jaw, Aomine forced her to meet his own dark gaze, the tear tracks gleaming pale silver in the soft moonlight. Aomine waited a beat, then gently began to kiss the tears away, the salt making his lips tingle.
Time seemed to slow as Aomine abruptly shifted closer, pressing their bodies together until not even a sliver of space existed between them. Unable to contain herself, Mira gasped, hands flying up to grip his waist. The blunette only laughed, nuzzling her throat with his lips, leaving soft kisses in his wake. "I love you...", he murmured into the brunette's warm flesh, nipping at the sensitive skin.
A low moan was dragged from the back of her throat, her head falling back until it was cradled in the blunette's palm. Her fingers dug into his hips hard enough to leave bruises, but the other didn't seem pained at all, absorbed in kissing the soft skin behind Mira's ear. The brunette panted, wanting so badly to throw herself entirely into the dark haired man's clutches, but holding back.
"I'm glad", she pulled away slightly, her lips still ghosting over his as she smiled fondly at him, looking right into his cerulean depths.
And the next second, his mouth was covering hers, and the brunette lost all touch with the world around them. She's used to day dream about what it would be like to kiss him under a sparkling sky after watching all those cheesy movies but nothing could have prepared her for the explosion of sensation the touch of the blunette's lips released.
Aomine kept the kiss light, feathering his lips over Mira's in a soft caress; teasing, tasting. The hand buried in the hair at the nape of her neck gently released its hold, curling around the base, urging her closer. The hand gripping her wrist joined the first, his thumb feathering over the brunette's frantic pulse. Mira tightened her grip on his hips, her head spinning. Every inch of her had never felt so alive, her bones humming within her skin.
"Daiki...", she murmured, moaning low in her throat when the blunette seized the moment to slide his tongue across the sensitive crease of her lips, begging entrance. She opened her mouth to him with a soft whimper of need, unable to deny him.
Her needy moans shot through him like Lightning, filling his veins and body with driving heat. With a low growl Aomine pushed even closer, sealing their mouths together as he drove his tongue into her willing warmth. Shifting his hands, Aomine angled her head back, making it easier to plunder the brunette's mouth, losing himself in the unique flavor that was his Mira. The brunette moaned again at the dominating gesture, opening her mouth wider to twine her tongue around his.
Gradually, Aomine's hands slid from her neck, moving over her body with devastating efficiency. They smoothed along her shoulders and flanks to rest at her hips, pulling them even closer (if that were even possible). Her hands were full of silky hair, nails dragging over Aomine's scalp. Judging from the rough purr working up the back of his throat, the blunette appreciated the gesture.
Feeling adventurous, she pulled out of the deep lip lock to catch the blunette's bottom lip between her teeth, flicking out her tongue to smooth the small wound. The brunette chuckled when Aomine growled, the light sound turning to a gasp when his quick fingers went ghosted beneath her shirt, rubbing soothing circles at her side.
With a rough sound, her hands left Aomine's hair to smooth down his chest. She was rewarded with a hiss of pleasure, smiling against her lover's mouth as her hands slipped beneath his shirt, finding skin hot to the touch. This time it was Aomine who moaned, Mira eagerly swallowing the desperate sound. Wanting to hear it again she dragged her nails down Aomine's torso, chuckling in delight when the blunette arched helplessly.
All this while his hands continued to trace her sides in random patterns that left her writhing in want. Aomine made a choked sound, hands shifting to clutch at Mira's hips, head falling back to give the her better access. Pleased with the blunette's surrender, Mira tasted the proud line of Aomine's throat, all the while letting her fingers slide along the waist band of his pants. The blunette's hips bucked helplessly, his breath deepening, becoming harsher in the still silence that cloaked them.
His hands moved again, this time to the top of her shirt, teasing the button there for a second before pushing it out of its confines.
"Whoa..! Slow down there tiger", she chuckled in mild amusement at his childish anticipation as she pulls away suddenly.
"But...", he started but one lean finger to his lips silenced him.
"Save it till after you win the final", she winks at him, smirking from ear to ear and moves out of his grabbing hands, turning and starts making her way back up the river.
"So you gonna take me home now or what..?", she calls back and he could practically hear her teasing him with that voice.
"Mira..!", he calls out, sprinting to catch up to her.
Guess that monster inside of him could wait a tiny bit longer to devour his pretty little prey. :P

[A/N]
There's still quite a bit to go.
The final won't be as long as the previous match though...
For Aomine's sake, let's hope he wins cuz then his prize will be ohh so interesting... xOxO
