Todoroki: “Midoriya.”

Izuku turned his attention to see his dual haired classmate as he called him out. The two made eye contact as there seemed to be a sudden tension that was felt between the two.

Todoroki: “I was wondering if I can have a conversation with you alone.”

Izuku: “…….Sure. I’ll see you guys, I hope you all do well in the next part of the sports festival. I’ll be cheering for you guys.”

Uraraka: “Thanks Izuku.”

As Izuku and Todoroki walk out of the cafeteria, Uraraka and the others watch wondering what exactly did Todoroki want to talk to Midoriya about.

Tsuyu: “You don’t think Todoroki-kun is gonna ask something insensitive to Midoriya-kun, kero?”

Momo: “It’s hard to say, Todoroki-san from what we’ve seen isn’t much of a social person, perhaps this may be his way of trying to connect with Midoriya-san.”

Iida: “Well, maybe this will benefit both of them.”

Uraraka: “Let’s hope you're right Iida-Kun.”

Izuku and Todoroki stared at each other as they made their way to the back, inside the waiting area. As both sides stared at each other for a couple seconds neither side started the conversation up.

Izuku: “So? What exactly did you want to talk to me about? I’m not just gonna stand here staring at you if you don’t have something to say.”

Todoroki: “You know……. You and I are a lot alike in a sense.

Izuku: “What do you mean by that?”

Todoroki: “It seems we were both dealt a horrible hand at a point in time in our lives. Something that we couldn’t control led to terrible misfortune.”

As Todoroki placed his hand on his scar that covered the left side of his face. Thinking about what lead up to that day that took away a person precious to him.

Izuku: “That scar. That wasn’t meant to have happened to you I’m assuming?”

Todoroki: “No. No it wasn’t. Since you told your story to the class, I only believe that it’s right that I tell you mine. But first I want to know if you realized something about me.”

Izuku: “If I had to take a guest you're the son of a pro hero judging how powerful your quirk is.”

Todoroki: “I’m the son of the #2 hero, Endeavor.”

Izuku: “Seems like a lot of expectations may have been placed on you with a hero like that as a father.”

Todoroki: “When your sole existence of being born is to surpass AllMight, that’s all I suppose to be giving him.”

Izuku: “What exactly do you mean?”

Todoroki: “Have you ever heard of Quirk Marriage before, Midoriya?”

Izuku’s eyes widened as he heard those two words. Quirk Marriage was a rather sensitive topic in the news and Izuku was staring directly at someone who was a result of one.

Todoroki: “The law became a problem for the third generation until now. Choosing a wife only based on enhancing the Quirk and passing it on to their children, forcing people into marriage. The old fans hooked a way of thinking brought about by a lack of ethics . Endeavor with both accomplishments and money, won my mother’s relatives and got a hold of her quirk. He’s been trying to fulfill his own desires by raising me, to become a hero that can surpass AllMight.”

Izuku couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

Todoroki: “The amount of times I was alienated from my siblings because my quirk was a combination of my mother and his. I couldn’t even hang out with them being pushed to the brink with his training. My mother would try to intervene to get him to stop but his obsession with me surpassing AllMight would cause him to strike her each time.”

Todoroki began trembling as those memories started to occur back into his mind. Seeing his mother laying on the ground each time trying to stop him. Izuku felt sympathy for Todoroki; he never knew someone who was gifted with such a power could come from such a spiraling family.

Izuku: “It’s like he’s the main character of his own story. I was fortunate to have my mom in my life despite being quirkless. He on the other had a whole family potentially ruined due to his own fathers greed.”

Todoroki: “This scar on my face is a result of my mother reaching her breaking point. She was so scared of him abusing her that she even saw him in my own reflection and that’s when she poured boiling hot water over my eye leaving me with this. It became too much for her. All the abuse and suffering she dealt with. She was admitted to a hospital. I haven't seen her since that day. That jerk took her from us and that’s when I vowed never to use his power again.”

Izuku digested the entire story that was told to him by his classmate. If there’s one saying that always stands the test of time is “Don’t judge a book by its cover” because you never know who you may come across.

Izuku: “Todoroki…… your right. You and I are a lot alike. I was a quirkless nobody who had no one in my corner except my mother. I was ridiculed, bullied, and ostracized by my peers and even sucide baited. You on the other hand, who has a powerful quirk weren’t even treated as human just as a test subject for your fathers selfish desire that broke up a family. I gave up on my dream of being a hero. However, that doesn’t mean I can’t find a new dream out there for me. Just like how you don’t have to let your father have control over you.

Todoroki: “What do you mean by control over me?”

Izuku: “What I mean is that just because you’ve inherited your fathers power doesn’t mean you're gonna end up like him. He doesn’t have control over how you live your life regardless if he’s your father or not. You and you alone are the one who can control who you want to be. Not using your fire side will come with consequences whenever you're in the line of duty as a hero. Remember it’s not his quirk. That’s all the advice I can give you but you're gonna need to be the one to truly find that out yourself.”

As Izuku walks away from Todoroki, leaving the young man to ponder on what Izuku had told him. Could he really look at the power he was given as a gift and not a curse. Through all the hell he's endured, his mother being taken away from him, could he truly ever use his left side without thinking of his father. Only time will tell at this point.

While Izuku was walking back to the stands with his mother, Miruko, Pixie Bob, and Mount Lady. He turned his attention towards the person who was eavesdropping the entire time. As he stopped in place and started speaking.

Izuku: “If you know what’s good for you, you’ll never mention a word of what you just heard. Bakugo. The fact doesn’t change that in any moment you being at this school could be taken away. If it were me you would’ve been locked away in Tartarus to rot for your actions. It would suit a villain like you. All I’m going to say is stay away from me and my family. I don't want you associated anywhere near me.

As Izuku walks away leaving the eavesdropping Katsuki Bakugo to take in the words of the person he bullied for nearly his entire life. The hatred that spewed from his voice talking to him. Wishing that he was locked away in Tartarus and calling him a villain without any hesitation. Those words hit Kastuki. With the class, teachers, and staff knowing about his actions in the past regarding Izuku it was honestly out of mercy that he wasn’t sent away, not that he would ever admit that. However, hearing from Izuku or Deku as he called him growing showing pure hatred towards him made him realize that his actions weren’t hero like. The looks of disgust that he received from the classmates when Izuku told the truth, how AllMight stared at him in pure disappointment and that he practically ruined the friendship between Inko and his old hag.

Katsuki looked on as he went towards the exit himself as he knew that he was all alone in the journey to the top. With no one to rely but himself due to his own actions he was gonna be the #1 hero no matter who was in his way.

Katsuki: “If you and everyone else wanna label me as a villain that’s fine. I know this will never get me the trust and acceptance that you received from those extras and that’s fine with me. I'll keep aiming to the top, even if I have to do it on my own.”

Could this be the turning point for Katsuki or will this attitude simply lead to a path of self destruction and loneliness. Only time will tell.
