Chapter 3cb-Kyoko working on some Device(Prelude to...)

You open the door to find the club’s resident genius, Kyoko tinkering with a device. She looks up to see you and then turns back to her device.

“Oh. Hey Densuke,” She says flatly.

“Hello, Kyoko,” You reply coming closer to her.

As you come close to Kyoko, You notice a sapling in a large flower pot sitting against a wall.

“What’s that doing in here?” You ask out loud.

Kyoko looks up from her work to look at the sapling.

“It’s part of an experiment I’m working on,” She answered, “It’s going to be the first test subject.”

You blink out of curiosity, “Test Subject for what?”

Kyoko finishes working on the device, stands up and holds it, revealing it to be a large, metallic yellow, gun with a dial on the side of it.

“I’ll show you,” Kyoko says.

You look a little worried that she’s going to use the gun on you but instead points her finger at the sapling.

“Grab that and follow me,” Kyoko commanded.

 You do as she asks, grabbing the sampling and following her outside of the club room. Kyoko points to the area in front of them.

“Place the sapling there about five yards away from us,” Kyoko directs. 

You comply, go to the area she specifies, and then returns to her side.

“Now what?” You ask.

“Now stay right where you are and see the miracle of science and ingenuity,” Kyoko states, turning the dial on the gun to fifteen and then pointing the gun at the tree. The gun emits a beam of green light that flies toward the sapling and envelops it. As the light dims but leaves a green aura around the tree, the sapling begins to rapidly grow in height and width. Branches spring from the body and leaves sprout along with them as they extend. With the ceramic pot too small to contain the expanding tree, the pot shatters and the adventurous roots dig into the cement roof underneath the tree. You stumble back in surprise while Kyoko stands diligently looking upon the tree. As the light disappeared, the tree settled and appeared now as an enormous fifteen foot tree. You are still fairly stunned by this. Kyoko puts the gun down beside her, pulls out a small note book from her lab coat and makes a note with a pen.

“First Test: Successful,” She says outloud as she writes.

“Kyoko, what did you just do and how did you do it?” You ask.

Kyoko looks back at you with a confident smile and grabs the gun. 

“My latest invention, the Nutria-Ray,” She proclaims.

“Neutrino-Ray?” You say.

“No, Nutria,” Kyoko corrects you, “It produces a concentrated blast that delivers many nutrients needed for proper and ideal growth over the course of several years. The nutrients plus the specific light frequency induces a state accelerated growth in the chosen subject that would normally take years and reduces that the time to a few minutes.”

You look at her almost thoroughly confused. Kyoko rolls her eyes at your ignorance.

“It makes things grow faster by supplying them with proper nutrition and light,” She said causally tossing the gun to you.

You just barley catch it before it smashes on the ground.

“Thanks to that gun, I’ve made that tree reach the maximum growth of about fifteen years in only few minutes,” Kyoko said walking back into the club. 

You follow her, carrying the ray gun, “What did you make this for?” 

“The science expo in Tokyo in a couple weeks. I plan to demonstrate it there,” Kyoko explained, “If my theory is correct and the giant tree outside is proof of that, this invention should solve the world hunger crisis and with a little tinkering, could also solve the issue of deforestation.”

You look amazed at the marvelous concept and look happily at Kyoko. You admire her intellect, ingenuity, and determination. As well that it’s nice to be around when she’s not in a bad mood. You often seem to be a cause of it at times and you’re glad she’s happy. However, your next comment changes that.

“Does it work on other things besides plants?”

Kyoko stops and shoots you such a glare that it almost feels like she’s thrown a knife at you and just barely missed your head.

“Hmph. It’s possible that the ray could be used on other living organisms like live stock to make them grow to their fullest potential but I have yet to actually test that,” She explains with a huff, “So don’t go getting any ideas and using the gun to make girl’s boobs grow bigger.”

With that last comment, Kyoko begins to stomp away from you. Realizing she misinterpreted your question, You try to explain.

“Wait! Kyoko, that’s not what I meant- woah!” You trip, falling forward and accidentally...
