Chapter 13

Mina and Lita sat next to Rei’s bed where Serena lay. Across from them, Darien knelt, his palms glowing as he held them over Serena. A soft golden light fell from his palms over Serena. Mina looked and Lita, their eyes locked and mirrored the worry they both felt.
‘This all feels familiar somehow. This power. Fighting. But why?’ Mina thought.
Mina looked around the room studying the others. Jadeite held Rei who sat on his lap in her desk chair. Zoisite had his arms around Ami’s waist as they stood next to the desk. Just behind Darien, Nephelite and Kunzite stood talking quietly. Mina frowned as she felt something pushing in the back of her mind. Taking a slow breath, she closed her eyes and relaxed her mind.
Lita glanced over at Mina and saw her eyes closed and they young woman relax. Lita too felt something in her mind wanting to break free. Taking a page from her friend’s book, Lita closed her eyes and relaxed. She felt her memories flooding into her mind. Unconsciously, she reached over for Mina’s hand and felt Mina tightly grip it.

Serena sighed as she opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was Darien. “Hey.”
“Hey yourself. You had me and the others worried baby.” Darien smiled softly, stroking her cheek.
“I’m sorry, but I had to do it.” Serena replied, covering his hand with hers. She glanced over and saw Mina and Lita. “They’re remembering.”
Darien looked at the two women across from him. “Yes. Even before Luna gave them their transformation sticks, they instinctively knew they had to fight.”
“Yes, I would imagine they would.” Serena agreed as Lita and Mina’s eyes opened. “Welcome back Venus, Jupiter.”
“Serena, Princess.” Lita breathed.
“Sere?” Mina whispered.
Serena pushed herself up so that she was sitting and looked toward Rei. The raven-haired beauty slipped out of Jadeite’s arms and walked over. She sat on the bed beside Serena. The two held hands and both reached their other toward Mina. Without a word, Mina took them. The three were bathed in a soft multi-colored light, leaving the others a bit stunned. The light pulsed for a few moments before fading into the three.
“What…what just happened?” Jadeite stuttered.
“Rei, you want to explain?” Serena giggled.
“You see, Serena, me and Mina, we are family. Cousins to be exact.” Rei said.
“Cousins?” Everyone gaped.

Pyrite was furious. “What do you mean he was destroyed!”
Shimmer shivered as she knelt before him. “He…he and his youma had Sailor Moon. Marksman had his sword at her….”
“Show me your memories!” Pyrite ordered.
Shimmer looked up and brought the fight to the forefront of her mind. She felt Pyrite enter her mind and watched the battle. For several long moments, nothing was heard. When Pyrite exited her mind, Shimmer exhaled a shaky breath.
“So, the last of the Scouts have awakened. Damnit!” Pyrite hissed.
“Yes, my lord. These two are remarkably strong and were able to combine their powers. I have yet to ascertain if Moon, Mars and Mercury can do the same. I have seen that Mars and Mercury can combine powers with the Generals Zoisite and Jadeite.” Shimmer added.
“This is an unwanted complication. Queen Beryl will be pissed when I report this.” Pyrite sighed, dropping into his chair.
“Master, what do you want me to do now?” Shimmer questioned.
“I want you to continue with your observations. I want you to now try and discover who these Scouts, Generals and Tuxedo Mask are as humans. I know there is a form of glamor that conceals them when they are transformed. An added layer of protection provided by their powers. I will return to the Nega Verse and inform Queen Beryl.” Pyrite instructed.
Shimmer rose, bowed and exited the room. Once alone in the hall, she let out a slow breath. When she had appeared and told Pyrite that Marksman had been defeated, she was afraid he was going to kill her. Pyrite was an unpredictable master.
“So, Pyrite has failed again, has he?”
Shimmer spun around and gasped. “Wh…who are you?”
Out of the shadows stepped a woman she had never seen before. The woman had long red hair and dressed in a short red dress. The woman smiled coolly as she stepped toward Shimmer. Shimmer felt a power radiating from the woman, the likes she had never felt. Not even from Queen Beryl or Metallia.
“I’m Kaori. I am one of the Witches 5. I have been sent to make you an offer my dear.” Kaori smiled.
“Offer?” Shimmer inquired.
“Yes. Why don’t you come with me, and my Master can explain.” Kaori said, extending her hand.
Shimmer glanced behind her at the closed door. By now Pyrite would be back in the Nega Verse. Squaring her shoulders, Shimmer gathered her nerves and slipped her hand in the other woman’s. What did she have to lose right?

“Yes, cousins.” Mina nodded. “Rei was the niece of Serena’s father King Solan of the Sun Kingdom, and I was Queen Serenity’s niece. My mother, Queen Aphrodite, was the younger sister of Queen Serenity. She married my father, King Hephaestion of Venus. He died while mother was pregnant with me.”
Darien looked at Serena. She was still holding Rei and Mina’s hands. Now things began to make sense. Why Serena seemed closer to not just Rei, but Mina as well. “Are you three related by blood again in this life?”
“No, only me and Serena are.” Rei answered. “Just as in the Silver Millennium, my mother was Serena’s father’s sister. But in this life, my mom died when I was five. In the Silver Millennium, my mother was killed when Beryl invaded.”
“Before any of you ask, yes. My father King Solan has been reborn with the rest of us. As was his second wife, Queen Lyrisa and their son, my half-brother, Orion. They are my actual parents and brother in this life. Seems that Queen Serenity wanted me to have some family from the Silver Millennium with me.” Serena looked over at Darien. “He told you last night at dinner. Didn’t he?”
Darien nodded, “He did. He also asked if he should tell you, but I told him to wait and let you come to him. He said that he and Ikuko haven’t said anything to Sammy yet, since he is not showing any signs of remembering yet.”
“I see. In that case, I won’t talk to Sammy, but I will talk to mom and dad and tell them what all is happening right now.” Serena said.
“Um, Serena, why were me and Mina the last to awaken?” Lita questioned.
“Lita, I have been training for the Nega Verse’s return since we were fourteen. I wanted to hold off as long as possible before awakening you four. Mother sent us here to have a normal, peaceful life. I just wanted to give you all that. Ami and Rei were awakened simply because they, like you two, were at the fight, as were Zoisite and Jadeite. Kunzite and Nephelite had Darien restore their memories after you guys went to Osaka.”
Mina and Lita looked at their boyfriends. Nephelite sighed and spoke up, “Look, Kunzite and I were having dreams. We’ve been having them since we met you five.”
“I started having them too.” Jadeite said as Zoisite nodded in agreement.
“I figured you two were as well. Anyway, the day we got to Osaka, I confronted Kunzite. I told him I new he wasn’t sleeping well and that’s when he told. I suspected then they were memories. When we returned, he and I went straight to Darien after dropping you girls off at your homes.” Nephelite explained.
“We, like Serena, wanted to wait. We agreed with her and Darien about waiting. Darien told us that Serena wanted time to prepare you instead you regaining your powers in the middle of a fight like Ami and Rei did.” Kunzite added.
“But why Serena?” Mina inquired.
“Because of the aftermath. With Ami and Zoisite, their memories came flooding back. Ami’s didn’t fully return right away, but that was due to a mental block her mind placed to protect her. Yet slowly, they fully returned. The same happened with Rei and Jadeite, thought not as painfully. That is simply because of their nature. I wanted to spare you that, but seems I worried for nothing.
“After Darien healed me, I saw you two remembering. It was as if you two knew what to do. Anyway, as for what me, Rei and Mina did, it is old magic. When we were children, our parents told us that the three of us could bond our magic. Each of us have our own magic as Princesses of our kingdoms. That magic is separate from our Scout powers. Mina, Rei and I simply reinforced the bond we forged a thousand years ago.” Serena told them.
“Darien, as Generals do we have the same ability? I mean, weren’t we not Princes so to speak on Earth? You were our Prince yes, but your parents named us Princes to better help you. I was Prince of North America, Jadeite was Prince of South America, Nephelite was Prince of Asia and Kunzite was Prince of Africa.” Zoisite asked.
“Hmm, that’s true.” Darien hummed, remembering what he had been taught as Prince of Earth. “The main kingdom of Earth was in Elysian, which is now Europe. I don’t remember if we had that ability though.”
“What if we could find the remains of Elysian?” Luna questioned. “I seem to remember your mother, Queen Ember telling me there was a vast library in the Golden Palace.”
“Luna, Elysian is no longer.” Jadeite said sadly. “The day Beryl invaded Earth, that was her main target. We had just returned from the Moon and watched as she and Metallia destroyed the Golden Palace and all Elysia with it. The four of us barely managed to teleport Darien back to the Moon before we were overrun.”
There was silence around the room. Serena had never known what fate had befallen Elysian. She felt her heart break at the knowledge that Queen Ember and King Cathious had never had the chance to fight back. Earth had been known for their warriors and rivaled the Sun and Mars in their armies and navies.
“Well, maybe we, the four of us I mean, could try to. Serena, was there some kind of ritual you three had to do?” Kunzite inquired.
“I’m not sure it would work even if you tried.” Mina replied. “To form the bond like we have, you must be blood related. You four are not.”
“Damn.” Kunzite sighed. “It was worth a thought.”

Beryl was fuming as she stared down at her General. “You have failed me again! Now because of your failure, the last two Scouts have awakened!”
“Forgive me Queen Beryl. Please, I know I can…” Pyrite pleaded.
“No! You have failed me for the last time General Pyrite!” Beryl roared.
Pyrite screamed as a blast of dark energy shot toward him. Beryl watched in sadistic glee as he was consumed by the energy, returning to Metallia. Once he vanished, she sighed, dropping back onto her throne.
“General Crystalline I summon you!”
A woman with silvery hair pulled into a braid appeared and knelt. “Yes, my Queen.”
“It is time for you to prove yourself to me and Queen Metallia. Your two predecessors have failed us. You had better not fail.” Beryl warned.
“I will not Queen Beryl. I have been forming my own plans for how to defeat the Scouts and Generals. I will reevaluate them now that Sailors Venus and Jupiter have awakened.” Crystalline said.
“Go then. Defeat them and collect more energy. We will need it if we are to obtain the Silver Crystal and conquer Earth once and for all.” Beryl ordered.
Crystalline bowed and disappeared. She reappeared in the mansion that Pyrite had been using. She had watched the general and while yes, he had succeeded in collecting energy for the Nega Verse, he was also greedy for power. She however, had no desire for that. Power was no good to you if you could not hold it and Pyrite, as well as Graphite, would never had been able to hold onto such power.

Serena and Darien held hands as they walked toward her house. She smiled glancing over at him. He was still in his blue and black kimono. “Darien, just curious, but how did you pick the colors for your kimono?”
Darien chuckled, “I based it off my royal robes from being Prince of Earth. When I wasn’t in my black armor, I wore black pants, a blue tunic and when needed, my cape was black with blue lining.”
“That’s right, I remember now. Your father’s was black and green. You were a mirror of him at royal functions.” Serena giggled.
“Yes, and we liked it. I once asked mother how she picked the blue and green. She said it was because of our eyes. His were a deep emerald green and mine are a cobalt blue.”
“I always loved you eyes. Then and now.”
Darien smiled, pulling her tighter against him as they walked through the gate of her house. After explaining everything to the others, he said he should take her home. As they left, Darien suggested they tell Kenji and Ikuko what had happened. Serena agreed, since Sammy was at a friend’s house that night, it would be perfect.
“Mom? Dad?” Serena called out as Darien closed the door behind them.
“In the living room!” Ikuko replied.
The couple walked into the living room. “Hi mom, dad. Um, do you have a minute? Darien and I need to talk to you guys.” Serena asked.
“Of course, honey.” Ikuko smiled.
Serena and Darien sat across from them. Serena, to her credit, wasted no time. She immediately began telling them what had happened that night. How Lita and Mina had been awakened at last. When she told them she knew who they really were, Darien saw what looked like relief fill their eyes.
“I’m so glad you know.” Ikuko breathed. “Serena, I know I’m no Queen Serenity, but even back then I loved you as one of own. I hope you knew that.”
“I did mom and I’m glad that Queen Serenity saw to it that I was reborn to you and dad. Same with Sammy.” Serena smiled tearfully.
“So, what happens now?” Kenji questioned.
“Well, after I was healed from the battle by Darien and Mina and Lita awoke, well…” Serena paused, unsure if Kenji would remember about the bond. “Me, Rei and Mina reinforced our blood bond.”
“Thank god.” Kenji breathed. “I was hoping you three would remember about the bond. Me, Antriea, Serenity, and Aphrodite wanted you three as protected as possible. Even then Beryl and Metallia were a threat, but there is another threat looming. Just as before. This threat is worse than the Nega Verse.” Kenji said.
“Who is it do you know?” Darien questioned, a ripple of fear shooting through him.
“They are called the Death Busters. They do not require energy like the Nega Verse to survive. Their goal is to resurrect Pharaoh 90. If that happens, our world, our universe as we know it will be no more.” Kenji sighed.
