Chapter 14: "Surprise, Surprise"
("This can't be happening!")
(Life can be strange, Daisuke.)
("It's just infatuation, isn't it? Satoshi can't really be in love with me… We are both men! Nothing can come out of two men loving each other!")
(Actually, in your case, something can,) Dark grinned.
("No!") Daisuke shook his head while he ran with no specific destination.
(Daisuke! You can't be running like this aimlessly. It's bad for your baby!)
("He loves me… Dark… Satoshi loves me… and all this time he has kept it a secret from me.")
(I don't know, Daisuke. He's a good kid I have to admit. Wait… how old is Satoshi?)
("We're about the same age.")
(Really? He seems older… Maybe it's just his height. Damn that guy has grown. He can look down at me now…)
Out of breath, Daisuke came to a halt by a tree on the edge of the sidewalk. "I've never been so confused in my life before!" he panted next to the tree while resting his body against it for support, "I don't know what to do!"
(What are you so confused about?) Dark asked.
"Everything!"
(You're being too vague.)
"Well… I… That is… um…"
"Talking to yourself again?"
"Huh?" Daisuke turned around to see Saehara staring at him.
"Saehara!"
"Are you ok?"
"Of course! Why wouldn't I be?"
"Well, when you are just walking down the street and you hear some weirdo yelling at himself, then you either think that he has mental issues or something is up."
Daisuke shook his head. "No, everything is fine."
"No, everything is not fine."
"Huh?" Daisuke raised a brow, "What do you mean by that?"
"Didn't you hear? You, of all people, didn't hear?"
"Hear what? Tell me!" Daisuke demanded.
"Riku's father got into an accident. He's in the hospital."
"What?!" Daisuke exclaimed, "Is he ok?! How are Riku and Risa?! Where are they?! Do you know?!"
"One question at a time, ok? Jeez. Riku isn't there. I just went to see if she was all right, but Risa said that she had left. I'm pretty sure that their father will live… after a few surgeries."
"What?! OHMYGOD! I have to call her right now!"
"Don't run all the way home. You already seem out of breath as it is," commented Saehara.
"Ok! And thanks! I'll catch up with you later!" Daisuke waved as he began to hurry towards Satoshi's apartment.
DAISUKENIWADAISUKENIWADAISUKENIWA
Satoshi had gotten off the ride and was now seated on a bench away from the crowd where he knew he would be safe from the prying eyes. A few tears escaped his eyes every now and then as he rethought the moment and how foolish he was to make such a rash decision.
"Why do I have such asinine scenarios of acceptance? He's already made it clear in past events that he doesn't want anything to do with me."
"Hikari!"
Satoshi looked over his shoulder as Risa ran towards him. He was about to get up to walk away, but before he could, she reached him.
"Hikari… I'm so sorry."
"Sorry? For what?" he asked over his shoulder.
"I saw everything… I heard everything… Everything down to Daisuke's rejection."
"Is that all?" Satoshi asked after a few short moments. "If it is, then I'll just be on my way."
"Wait!" Risa grabbed onto his shoulder.
"Yes?" Satoshi asked weakly.
"I just feel so bad… I just feel so sorry for everything that just happened to you . I know that you may need some time to think about what just happened, but I wanted to tell you that if you ever needed someone to talk to, I'd be willing to listen to you. I'll be there."
"Thank you," Satoshi whispered to Risa, "But I think, right now, more than anything, I need some time to myself."
"But… I want to talk to you."
"About what?" asked Satoshi.
Risa smiled, "About what happened in the ride."
Satoshi sat down and sighed, "Ask anything you want."
"You love Daisuke, don't you?"
Satoshi bit on his lower lip. "So much…" His whispers were drowned in pain.
"I don't think that Daisuke hates you entirely," Risa said.
"I don't think he hates me entirely either, but he hates me enough to never want to see my face after…" Satoshi froze when he realized where he was going with this.
"After what?"
"College," Satoshi said quickly.
"Well, I don't think so. Didn't you see his face?"
"No. I didn't dare look back at him after he slapped me."
"So then you are just gonna let him run away from you?" Risa said as she placed her hands on her hips. "Well I think that's stupid."
Satoshi raised a brow and tilted his head, "And why do you think that?"
"His expression wasn't that of hate; it was that of confusion. He was probably confused when you said that. I know I would be if I was a guy and another guy just suddenly said that." Satoshi shook his head. "I'm not a romantic, I'm a realist, and that wasn't a look of confusion on Niwa's face. It was fear. It was pure fear." Satoshi's voice shook at the memory. "I didn't want to look into his eyes when I confessed. I wanted to look away. I didn't want to see that immediate expression that I knew I would receive after telling him something as rash as that, but no… I looked deep into his trembling eyes."
Satoshi looked up at Risa, "Can you imagine what I felt when I knew that he clearly didn't want to hear that? His voice shook with fear, and I knew I was going to regret it somehow. I didn't have a right to confess to someone who already had someone. What I've done might hurt their relationship because even if Niwa doesn't have the slightest feelings for me, he still knows that he is hurting someone, and knowing Niwa, he doesn't like to see people suffering because of him or anything else, but regardless, someone is going to get hurt." He rested his head back against the bench. "I've made a horrible mistake."
"Actually, Hikari, what if Daisuke likes you?"
"Did you not hear what I just said?"
"It's fear. He's scared because you love him. What if he likes you back but doesn't want to admit it, because like you said, he doesn't want to break my sister's heart? So then that leads to confusion. He can't pick between the two of you and is left in utter dilemma! Oh! This is turning into such a good plot for a really good romantic novel!"
"Say whatever you want," Satoshi sighed.
"Well, there's only one way to test out our theories," Risa said with a grin on her face.
"I'm scared to ask," said Satoshi.
"Ok, if Daisuke likes you, he'll be jealous when he sees that you have another love interest, so…"
"I don't like where this is going, Harada. I already told Daisuke that…"
"You have been and always will be loyal to him, but if you went out with someone he knows, like me, then maybe he'll be jealous."
"So you are saying that if Daisuke does have feelings for me, he'll show some reaction if he sees us dating?" Satoshi was about to shake his head but then pondered on the scenario.
"You know, it might just work," Risa said.
"I don't see the harm in it. I guess we could… But before we do, I want to set some boundaries."
"I like to be call bi, but I'm really a lesbian. So you have nothing to worry about," said Risa.
Satoshi's mouth nearly dropped. "You're serious?! I didn't know…"
"Yes, well…" Risa was blushing. "It's the honest truth."
"Ok, then. I don't see the harm, but if you try anything that I don't feel comfortable with…"
"It's ok. It goes either way for both of us." Risa reached out her hand. "Now in agreement, you must shake."
Satoshi nodded and shook Risa's hand, as he asked himself, "What am I getting myself into?"
SATOSHIHIKARISATOSHIHIKARISATOSHIHIKARI
Daisuke had just arrived at Satoshi's apartment, and after climbing the stairs , he was about to rush to the door when he heard someone call his name. Daisuke turned to look and saw Riku at the corner of his eye.
"RIKU!" Daisuke ran up to her and embraced her. "I heard what happened! I'm so sorry!"
"Can we go inside?" Riku asked in a faint whisper. "Please?"
"Sure, come on." He helped Riku up and brought her inside. He then gently closed the door and sat Riku down on the couch. "It's not my apartment, so when Hikari gets here and asks you to leave… I don't want to say `go,' but it would be wise to. Oh, do you want anything to drink?"
Riku patted on the seat next to her. "No. Please sit down." She then folded her hands on her lap.
"Is there something you want to talk to me about?"
"Daisuke… I…" Riku turned her head towards Daisuke and locked her lips with his.
Daisuke closed his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her neck. They became so lost in the moment that they didn't hear the door open, nor did they hear the gasp coming from behind them.
"Niwa?"
Daisuke broke away when he heard the all too familiar voice and saw Satoshi staring not at Riku, but at him. Satoshi's eyes were filled with anger. His lips were trembling , and his fist was clenched. To make matters worse, Riku had the nerve to blurt out, "Why do you always show up at the worst times?! Don't you ever give us our space?!"
"If you had any decency, then you wouldn't be making out in someone else's apartment," Satoshi's attention suddenly switched to Daisuke then back to Riku, "I want you out. Now."
"Or you'll do what?"
"I will charge you of property trespassing." Satoshi spun a pair of handcuffs on his right index finger.
Riku turned towards Daisuke and said, "You'll call me, right?"
"Of course," Daisuke said never taking his eyes off Satoshi.
Riku was about to kiss Daisuke again, but suddenly, Satoshi came around from the front, and grabbed Riku's shoulder and pulled her back. "I want you to leave now," he demanded.
Without saying another word, Riku jumped off the couch, opened the door, and left. Satoshi waited for several seconds after she left before he turned to Daisuke and said, "I don't ever want to see her in my apartment again."
"Umm…"
"And if I do, I will throw her into jail without a second thought."
"What?! You can't do that!"
"I can, and I will if it is called for."
Satoshi sat down on the couch next to Daisuke. Daisuke, on the other hand, turned around and crossed his arms.
"I don't want to talk to you right now. It's too soon…"
"No." Satoshi placed his hand on Daisuke's cheek and forced him to face him. "I think it's the perfect time to talk."
Daisuke looked down at the floor to avoid eye contact. He didn't know if he could face Satoshi without breaking down. The event from earlier today was a big enough of a shock. "Hikari…"
"I don't want you to avoid me now, Niwa," Satoshi said. "I'd rather have you treat me the same way you have since you moved in with me than to completely ignore me."
"But I… I just don't understand…"
"What is there not to understand?" Satoshi scooted closer to Daisuke . "Why do you make something so petty so complicated?"
"You confessed your love to me, Hikari! How can you call that something petty?"
Satoshi cupped Daisuke's cheeks. "Because it doesn't matter," he whispered. "I love you, and that's all. You don't love me, so that's that. There's nothing more I have to say."
"I don't think that's the real case." Daisuke looked back at Satoshi.
Satoshi's eyes softened and he ran his finger over Daisuke's lips. "The ideal dreams are the ones that can't be reached.
(Daisuke's POV)
He pulled away from me and silently rose. I watched him as he reached over to the table where the mail was piling up on, and after flipping through a few, he handed one to me.
"It's from the medical department," he explained.
I took in my hands and read the label. "What do they want?" he mused.
I opened the white envelope and read what they sent. After several seconds of reading, I gaped, and Satoshi looked at me. "Is something wrong?" he asked me.
"They're calling me in for an ultrasound, and… they want you to come with me… tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?"
"Yes."
"It's about time that they called you in. You should probably go to bed early. You look exhausted."
I nodded as I lay back on the couch and closed my eyes.
"Niwa…" I opened my eyes and saw Satoshi hovering over my face. "You can't sleep here. Do you want me to carry you to your bed?"
"No…" I whispered.
"Are you sure?"
"Umm…" I couldn't figure out why at the moment, but I trailed off and found myself gazing into his eyes.
"Don't flinch," he whispered to me, and before I really knew what he was doing, he was lifting me from the couch in his arms.
I soon found myself wrapping my arms around his neck, pulling my body closer to his as if to seek his security. I didn't know what I was thinking. I felt like I was being torn two ways: between Riku and Satoshi. I was like the rope being pulled between the two fighting dogs, and if one didn't decline, then they would rip me in two.
He opened the door to the room I was staying in, and he brought me to my bed. I held tighter as he slowly brought me down onto the bed, but instead of releasing me from his embrace, he held onto me for a few short moments longer.
"Hikari?" I whispered his name when I should have really demanded that he let go.
"Niwa…" He was moving his body onto the bed along with me. He was lifting his feet off the floor and setting himself beside my body. His head rested in the crook of my neck and his warm breath fanned against my skin. I was shivering all over, and I was sure he could tell. "It's been so long," he whispered.
"Since what?"
"Since I've been able to hold you like this… since I've been able to touch you." He pulled back and looked into my eyes.
I was a little worried for what he may be thinking. I didn't want him to be led on so easily by my kindness towards him. I didn't mind his touch as much as I did before, but if he saw this as an inclination to claim my body as his, then I would have to act cold towards him as I have been doing.
"Please don't," I whispered.
My words seemed to stimulate obedience in him, and he stopped . "If you don't want to cheat on your girlfriend then speak up. Stop being so weak. You're a soon-to-be-mom… or dad… Well, let's go with parent."
While resting my right hand on my stomach, I took hold of Satoshi's hand and slowly led it over my stomach, "You're a soon-to-be-dad, so stop acting reckless and take into consideration that I'm not the only being beneath your weight."
"No," he said, "you're not, but you're the only being that I'm in love with. You're the only being that can shatter my heart and soul with the mere flicker of a hurtful word."
"Hikari…" I didn't have a response to that. I just turned my face away from him.
"Don't try to ignore me," he said, "as you have done so since you've learned of your conception. Those acrimonious feelings you hold towards me will only make things less abiding between us. I know I am worthy of your respect." His warm hand caressed my stomach and settled on my hips. "And I want to be worthy of your love."
He was asking for something that wasn't mine to give away freely. He was implying that it was me who accepted one into my heart, but then again, what did he mean by love? Was he referring to the feeling of tender affection towards somebody, the feeling of desire for somebody, the passionate attraction that results in a romantic affair, or the kindness of heart that is offered to the ones we trust?
"It's my heart that accepts those whom I fall in love with. I cannot just freely accept just anyone."
"I am not 'just anyone', Niwa, and I wasn't asking for that kind of love." My heart skipped a beat as he leaned down to kiss my forehead. "I was asking for your respect." His arms snaked themselves around my waist as he settled down next to me, pulling me into his loving embrace. He held me so tight and close that I was sure he could hear, if not feel, my heart beating, and sure enough, as I laid my hand on his muscular chest, I could feel his racing heart beneath.
("Do I make him feel nervous?")
I nestled my head into the crook of his neck to feel his warmth, but then I felt something wet and warm hit my cheek. I slightly turned my head up to see small tears falling from his eyes. I thought that my rejection towards him wouldn't have much of an effect on someone as strong as him, but I guess every strong beast eventually breaks down and weep.
("Does he love me that much? Do I dare ask?")
I moved my hand over his cheek and asked him in a hushed tone, "Do you love me so much that you would break down and cry with me in your arms?"
He turned his head slightly as he kissed my fingertip then whispered in response, "I love you so much that I wouldn't mind dying in your embrace."
But I wasn't embracing him; he was holding me against his body, and I found no will to push him away. I could feel that he needed me, and in a way, I needed him to help me get through this rough time. I knew that Wiz was somewhere in this room watching us, and I'm sure that in his eyes we looked like a pair of heart stricken lovers forsaken by our peers because of our sexual orientation.
DAISUKENIWADAISUKENIWADAISUKENIWA
The alarm went off, and neither of us cared to move. Over the course of the night, while Satoshi slept, I had latched onto him for warmth, so we ended up tangled in each other's limbs. It would have been easier for me to wake up, but nowadays I'm always exhausted while Satoshi has low blood pressure, so neither of us is able to wake up on time. But I have to get up. I have an appointment at nine, and I need to be there. I don't understand why doctors make us come so early when they take at least an hour to call our names to sign some paper, another hour to call our names and seat us in another room, and yet another hour for the doctor to finally tend to our needs.
I sighed, realizing that I needed to get up regardless, but I couldn't if Satoshi was holding so tightly to me.
"Hikari…" I whispered, lightly trying to shake his body. "We need to get up."
"Go on… ahead," he whispered.
"I can't. You're holding on too tightly," I stated.
"Mmn…" He slowly, as if reluctantly, uncoiled his arms from around my waist and his legs from around mine.
Slowly, I moved away from the sleeping body and towards the end of the bed on the opposite side, seeing that Satoshi blocked the side that I usually got off of. However, I didn't have my slippers , so the floor was icy cold!
(“Dark, why don't you ever switch forms with me? Why do I always have to be the one to endure the hardship?") I complained.
(Because…There is no way in hell I am going to nurture that thing even if it's for one second,) came his sleepy voice.
I walked across the cold floor, but once I came to the bathroom I was desperate to find my shoes because the floor was marble. That's colder than wood. This is going to be a long morning…
After I was finished with the bathroom, I set about trying to wake Satoshi from his slumber, but as I entered the room, he was already sitting up on the bed and was rubbing his sleepy eyes.
"Morning," I said to him.
He nodded then walked past me towards the bathroom. Even if he does wake up extra early on most occasions, he is just not a morning person. So, while he was in the bathroom getting ready, I had this strange urge to do something for him for no apparent reason –which now seems to be something that I do quite often. But what should I do for him today? Should I make him coffee? Or maybe breakfast? I looked at the kitchen and sigh in defeat; I can't cook. I can pour water in a pot, set it on the stove, and turn on the fire, but once it begins to boil, that's when the trouble starts.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't hear Satoshi coming up from behind me until he hugged me! Right out of the blue! One night in each other's arms and I guess he thinks it's ok to touch me freely again!
I tried to look back at him but his face was buried in the crook of my neck, his arms were around my waist, and the length of his body was pressed against mine. I didn't know how I should react. I could tell him to piss off, or I could just stand here, allowing him to hold me as he pleased.
(Satoshi's POV)
I didn't know how much longer this moment would last. I knew that I was not supposed to be holding him like this. I didn't have the right to, but betrayed by my body as always, the temptation overwhelmed me, and I found myself holding onto the pregnant man.
"I'm sorry," I whispered into his ear, which was under my cheek. He remained as still as always, and I took that as an indication that I should let go. So I did. I released him from my embrace and set about making myself some coffee. "Do you want anything to eat?" I ask him.
His head was bowed in thought. "Umm…" I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking. He looked up at me, his face bright with delight. "I know! I want banana pancakes with ramen!"
I started to move to the stove to make the strange meal when I suddenly remembered… I turned back to him and gave him a small, sheepish smile. "Um, Daisuke, you can't have anything to eat before an ultrasound…"
"Are you serious?!" There was a moment of silence before his stomach growled. He then gave me an adorable pout, stating, "But I'm really, really hungry!"
"I'll treat you to a meal afterwards. Now, are you ready?"
"For what?"
"'For what?' To leave."
"You mean right now?"
"The sooner we get there, the sooner they call you, and the sooner we leave."
"Ready!" He ran towards the front door and motioned for me to hurry up.
"I don't even have time to make myself a cup of coffee?"
"Nope!" He shook his little head and started making hand movements that were urging me to follow.
"Alright already. I'm coming."
SATOSHIHIKARISATOSHIHIKARISATOSHIHIKARI
I thought we were going to be placed in a room full of children, but they had a separate room for those coming in for ultrasounds.
While I was seated on a chair, Daisuke got tempted to stare at the fishes swimming about in their tank. There weren't very many people here, which is something I had just noticed. There was one other couple, and one could definitely tell that the woman was at least seven months pregnant.
"It's huge…" I whispered to myself. "I wonder how Daisuke is going to be able to handle that."
"Mister and Mrs. Chigusa," called the woman from the desk.
The couple got up from their seats and went into the dark room. I was alone with Daisuke… well, except for the woman at the front desk who was at the moment, lost in her daily paper work.
"Niwa," I softly called, "they're going to call us next."
He looked back at me and sighed , "Yeah… I know."
"What's with the droopy look?" I asked him.
"Hm? Droopy? I'm fine. I'm just worried…"
"About what?"
He approached my seat and sat next to me.
"About our baby," he simply said. "What if they say that it has an abnormality? I wouldn't be surprised if it did because after all, we are the parents… and we… we are both men. I'd be so scared to hear to find out something was wrong. It's going to be my first child…" He wrapped his arms around his abdomen as if to hold the fetus.
Hesitantly, I laid my hand over his.
"It's going to be alright," I assured, "you'll see."
"Mr. Hikari and…. Mr. Niwa."
"Come on." I help Daisuke rise from the chair. "Everything is going to be fine."
"Are you two here for documents or are you waiting for someone?" asked the nurse.
"Actually," I pointed to Daisuke, "he is here for an ultrasound."
The nurse stared at us for a second, but then suddenly, a feverish blush ran over her face. "You two…?"
I nod.
"Are you serious?!" She was getting jumpy.
"Yes," Daisuke said.
"OH-MY-GOD! IT-IS-THE-FAMOUS-YAOI-COUPLE-THAT-I'VE-BEEN-HEARING-ABOUT-SINCE-I-DON'T-REMEMBER-WHEN!!!"
"Just what we need," I whisper to myself, "another fan girl nurse."
"Well, then, my name is Riku, and I'll be assisting you today." I winced at her excitement. She's too… perky.
Once inside the room, Riku closed the door, and then had me stand by the bedside while she helped Daisuke onto it. He laid down on the bed, and then Riku instructed, "Ok, Mr. Niwa, I need you to, not remove your shirt, but roll it up so I can see your abdomen entirely." Daisuke proceeded to roll his shirt up, and then the nurse said, "Hm… Can you partly pull down your pants? It's practically up to your belly button1"
Daisuke blushed. "What? Are you serious?"
"I won't be able to see the fetus if you don't pull your pants down."
While blushing, Daisuke slowly pulled down his pants, and I grinned at the two of them. I've never seen Daisuke so red in my entire life. The scene was priceless.
"Now, I'm going to lay this towel over your upper body and this other one over your legs," the nurse continued. She proceeded in doing that, then she pulled out a container full of a sort of gel. "This is lubrication for the machine," Riku explained . "I am going to pour this over your stomach so I can run this contraption over it smoothly. Don't worry, it's warm." She spilled gel over Daisuke's stomach, and then she pulled out what looked like a computer mouse. It was smooth and could fit easily in her hand. She then turned on the machine, and instantly, pictures of what was lying beneath appeared on the screen.
It was hard at first to tell what we were looking at. They were just images of black, white, and gray but I couldn't find any baby-like forms.
"I don't see anything," Daisuke whispered.
"You will in a minute. I first need to focus in on the fetus," she moved it over Daisuke's stomach. With her spare hand, she began turning and twisting strange knobs that made funny noises, and then she gasped, "Oh dear…"
"What is it?" Daisuke sounded worried.
"Interesting," she grinned one of those fan girl grins, then looked at Daisuke and then me. "Congratulations!"
"What is it?!" Daisuke looked at the screen and then turned his head a bit. "I can't make out the images."
"Hmm. Here then, let me show you." She pointed to a blob and said, "Here is the first one…" she then moved her finger over, "…and here is the other one."
"Other one?" Daisuke looked closely and so did I. It was then that I could more clearly make out what those things were… "I'm having…."
"TWINS!!! YOU'RE PREGNANT WITH TWINS!" cried the nurse.
( Behold,) whispered Krad, (the curse of our joining families.)
("Curse?") I asked. ("What do you mean by that?")
(I'll explain later…) Krad's voice vanished from my mind.
"Twins?!" Daisuke's face took on another tone of red and his eyes bulged out. Then his face slowly broke into one of joy. "Hikari!" He cried out to me. "I'm having twins! I'm having twins!"
I approached the bedside and looked closely at the scene softly whispering , "They're beautiful…"
From the corner of my eye, I could see Daisuke smiling at me, and then he turned to the nurse and asked, "Can you tell by looking at this screen if everything is alright with them? Like, are there any deficiencies?"
"Everything appears normal. They are just a normal pair of twins."
Daisuke's face was bright with joy. "I'm having twins!" he yelled out, "And they are healthy!"
"Surprise, surprise," I whispered to him.
"Can you tell if they are identical or fraternal?"
"I can tell you, but wouldn't you rather wait till they are born?"
Daisuke looked at the screen and then at me. "Do you want to know, Hikari?"
"I can wait. There's no rush," I said to him, "It's whatever you want."
"I'll wait," he said to Riku. "I want to be surprised when I finally find out what they are. Oh! Hikari, we need to think of names for them!"
"This is such a happy moment!" cried Riku. "Usually when couples find things like this out, they kiss and hug!"
Daisuke's smile suddenly vanished. "Umm…"
"Don't tell me you don't kiss your uke!" She looked at me accusing.
"We… we're not lovers," I said to her.
"What?! What a tragedy!"
"It's unrequited love," I simply said to her.
"That's… that's so sad!" She sprang up and hugged me. "You poor thing! How can you possibly bear to live when your love isn't being returned?!"
"I've managed," I looked over to Daisuke who was staring at the screen, slowly tracing the images with his finger. "They're our twins," I whispered to him.
He smiled and nodded. "Ours…"
DAISUKENIWADAISUKENIWADAISUKENIWA
"Is there any place you had in mind?" I asked Daisuke.
He was leaning against the car door staring at the stores and people as we drove by. "I'm not that hungry anymore."
"Did you lose your appetite due to all the excitement?" I asked him.
He looked back at me. "Take me home."
"My apartment or your house?" I asked while mentally pleading, ("Please don't say your house!")
"Your apartment. What did you think I was going to say?"
"You never know."
"Did you think I was going to tell my mom about the twins? Never."
I briefly looked over at him. "Never?"
"Remember our agreement? You are going to take the twins, and that will be that."
I did remember him telling me that. If I didn't agree to take the child then he would have aborted it. But now there are two, it means double the responsibility! I don't think I'd be able to support them both very well!
"Will you ever visit them?" I asked. "Will you ever acknowledge that they are yours? Or will you run away with Riku and set about having children with her?"
"You make it sound like I'm the criminal here."
"Criminal?" I pulled the car over to the side and turned to face Daisuke. "Are you calling me an antagonist?"
"You have set a major obstacle between my being together with Riku."
"You wore that bracelet."
"Well, you didn't have to yank it off!"
"I tried to prevent you from falling in the pool!"
"I know how to swim! There was no harm in getting soaked!"
"I was worried that if you did fall, you would get sick!"
"Being sick is a lot better than being pregnant!"
I narrowed my eyes at him as I had never done before. What was up with this guy?! Was he happy about the good news we have just received, or was he now regretting the whole thing all over again?!
"Daisuke!" an annoying voice suddenly screeched. Daisuke and I both turned around, and from out of nowhere came the slut… Riku. "Daisuke! Whacha up to?"
"Riku? Morning Riku!" He waved to her from inside my car. He then turned towards me. "Hikari, I'm going to go with Riku. Is that ok?"
"You're asking for my permission? You know I want to say no."
"Why is that?" He sounded like he was prying something from me.
"Because."
"Because…?"
"Idiot," I leaned forward and huskily whispered, "I'll get jealous."
"Jealous?" A most noticeable blush ran across his face.
"Just go," I sighed. ("Before I drive off leaving Riku in the dust.")
"Nothing is going to happen," he mumbled, "I can't do anything more with her than kiss, remember?"
"I don't need the details of your love life, Niwa," I simply said, trying to ignore what he just said.
"Don't be jealous," he said. "After all, I'm having your children."
"Yes…" I ran my hand over his soft pink cheeks. "You will bear my children," I said in a seductive tone.
The blush covering his face intensified, and he hurriedly got out of the car.
"You are really bad at hiding your blushes, Daisuke," I chuckled as he walked away with Riku.
When they were out of sight, I began to drive the car and called out to my other half, ("Now, Krad, tell me about that mysterious curse you have been mentioning.")
A/N: What a surprise.
Please review.
A/N: It is still Valentine’s Day.
Thank you to my beta!
