DN Mpreg Chapter XV:

Slowly, Soichirou settled himself into one of the chairs and awaited answers.

The brunet licked his lips. "First off, I am gay, but..." He looked back to Ryuuzaki. "...we lied to you. We did have a relationship, and we still kind of do."

Soichirou did not say anything. He blinked once, but besides this, there was no other movement. He most likely knew this from their being chained together. Even Light was aware of the signals such a bizarre episode brought.

The younger male took a deep breath. "Remember L went to the doctor a few weeks ago?" He paused, wondering how to continue. Like a band-aid, his brain told him, right off! So he did. "Dad, Ryuuzaki is a hermaphrodite with a working female reproductive system.

"He's the one that's pregnant."

Completely still like a statue, Soichirou allowed this to sink in. Then, he started laughing.

"Okay...okay," he said, holding up his hands as if to surrender, "I get it. You're pulling a fast one on your old man."

"He's not tricking you, Yagami-san," L said, removing his thumb from his lips and placing his hands on his knees, "I'm afraid everything he's just said is completely true. I have the body on the outside of a man, but I have functioning reproductive organs of a woman on the inside. And I am eighteen weeks pregnant." He pointed to the sonogram. "This is mine and Light-kun's child."

His father's expression was hard to read, or perhaps Light did not want to interpret it? However, he shook his head and gave a lopsided smile.

"Yeah, yeah," he said, still not believing the truth, "Perhaps you two have been working too hard. But seriously, fun time is over."

The world's greatest detective made a huffing noise. He placed his feet on the kitchen tile, rose from his chair, and then lifted his shirt to expose his abdomen. Though it was not perfectly round, his stomach was protruding more than usual. And Soichirou knew that L's stomach was usually very flat and skinny from watching their fight on the monitor when Light was on his date with Misa. The ex-police chief's eyes stared at the pale flesh bared to him.

"Remember how Ryuuzaki kept vomiting?" Light asked in a low tone, "It all adds up when you think about it."

Soichirou did not talk at all. His eyes fluttered from L to Light and back and forth. L replaced his shirt and sat down in his chair.

Now all that was left was to see how he would take it.

Soichirou made a noise in his throat. "I'm sorry, but...I can't believe that. Ryuuzaki, you're not pregnant."

"Yes, I am."

"No, you're not. Men do not get pregnant."

"Would you like for me to piss on a test for further proof?"

"Enough, you two!" Light yelled, stopping the quarrel happening between his lover and father, "Ryuuzaki, don't get snappy. Dad, it's true. It took me a while to believe it, but there's nothing we can do now."

"No..." The older Yagami ran his fingers through his hair, "No, I don't believe that. There's no way...It goes against nature!"

Light frowned. He knew his father would have trouble accepting something so far-fetched, but he still hoped that he would. He looked down at the watch his father gave him out of habit.

"Not even hermaphrodites can give birth," he continued, "If that is what you are, then your testosterone levels would have cancelled out the estrogen. And you would have to have a period, which I doubt you would have had without seeking medical attention and discovering that you were a hermaphrodite."

"Whether you believe it or not is entirely up to you, but you will have to face it when my baby is born five months from now."

"There isn't going to be any baby born!"

"Yagami-san, I'll have to ask you to keep your voice down," said Watari, whom seemed to have materialised into the room.

Soichirou stood up and faced the older man. "What do you think of this, Watari? Of the great detective L being a pregnant man?"

Watari's calm blue eyes moved and locked onto L's for a second before looking back to Light's father. "It's amazing how even the best can be full of surprises, is it not?"

Soichirou blinked in astonishment. "You're fine with this?"

"There's no use in being angry about it. It's not like they knew such a thing had a chance of happening."

"This is against humanity!"

"But not impossible."

Back and forth the two older men bickered while L and Light were left to watch as they argued over them. L sighed and pinched his nose in annoyance. He felt like a high school girl that had been inpregnanted by her boyfriend and their fathers arguing over it.

"How is the baby going to be born?" asked Soichirou.

Watari answered, "I am guessing it will be by Cesarean section since it will be impossible for it to be born otherwise."

"He should have an abortion."

"We decided not to have an abortion," Light said, gathering the strength to stand up to his father, "We're going to keep it."

His father stared at him like he had said the most absurd statement, which he probably had. His jaw opened and closed several times and a vein in his neck looked like it was ready to burst. He pointed a finger at Light, almost threateningly. "My son is not going to raise an abomination."

"My baby is not an abomination!"

All eyes fell on L. For the first time, Light thought, this was the first he had ever seen the detective actually mad, possibly pissed off. His eyes were narrowed and glaring at Soichirou, and his jaw seemed to be painfully clenched.

"This picture shows a very healthy fetus even though it is inside my disfigured body," he hissed, "You would not have called it an abomination from just looking at it. Even you know that it looks perfectly healthy, but now that you know it is mine, you see it as a monster? All the tests I've undergone shows that it is safe where it is and as healthy as it could be if it were in a female. I may be the abomination you speak of, but you keep my baby out of it!"

There was a long, silent pause between them where L and Soichirou stared down. Light looked between them and swallowed defensively. Watari stood still, but he seemed to also put out some comfort towards the pregnant ravenhead.

Perhaps it was then that Soichirou finally took into realisation of what they were telling them was the truth. L's sudden outburst seemed to have been the final evidence. Soichirou, being a father of two, understood and knew full well of a mother's maternal instinct and protectiveness of her child, and though L was not a female, he seemed to have possess this instinct, too.

Soichirou took a long breath through his nose and exhaled out his mouth. When he spoke, it was calm. "Obviously, my son had no idea that any of this would happen."

"Neither did I," said L bitterly.

"However, I don't think my son is capable of raising of a child when he is only eighteen," the ex-police chief continued, "Him being seduced clearly shows that..."

L put up his hand. "Excuse me...You believe that it was I who seduced your son?"

Soichirou and L locked stares again. Though the answer was obvious, Soichirou could not see his perfect son seducing such a man as L, however the case may be. Light saw this and stepped in before L did anymore hormone induced surprises.

"Dad..." he said timorously, "I was the one who seduced L. As you can...no doubt see...he was on the receiving end." Soichirou's eyes were locked on L's stomach, which the detective was currently stroking like it was a pet. "And, I'm the one who told L I wanted to be involved in the child's life. He even said that I shouldn't have to, but I want to be there for my son or daughter, and I do think of it as my son or daughter."

"What if it, too, is a hermaphrodite?"

"My hermaphroditism is a result of chimerism meaning that is is caused when two zygotes of different genders merge together," L answered, "The chances of that happening again are very, very slim."

"But we will have tests done anyway," Light interjected.

"And you didn't know this before you had sex with my son?" Soichirou asked raising an eyebrow.

L gave a nod. He sighed for a moment and caressed his stomach. Though it had been a very long time, L pondered about his own birth parents. He knew there were countless reasons why they put him up for adoption, and he had no qualms with them for doing so. His curiosity about his parents was quickly squashed when he was younger as he felt there was no need to know who they were. However, with everything being the way it was, a minuscule part of his brain wondered if this was why they rejected him? Did they know of his chimerism? Impossible. He was born twenty-five years ago, an era where chemerism and hermaphroditism was still unknown to the medical community. This was all a bizarre coincidence and fluke and nothing else. His birth parents, or parent as he believed his mother to be a single mother, gave him up because they or she were unfit. All he could be thankful for was that his mother, whomever she was, felt it right to allow him to live. He remembered in great detail standing on the street corner, unsure of where to go. His feet were cold and he was hungry and he wanted his mother, but he could not remember her face. The woman's appearance came as a blank to him. Back and forth he wondered that corner, afraid to stray too far. He hated this memory, which is why he locked it far away in the back of his mind.

His mother abandoned him. She may have been ill-fit to care for him, but that was no excuse as to why she left him there, waiting for her to return. That woman without a face...

Enough, L mentally chastised himself. Now was not the time to dwell on such thoughts and useless memories. He pulled himself away and mentally planted himself firmly back into the situation at hand. His fingers stroked his stomach tentatively.

Soichirou hung his head in his hands. "I'm going to need a few minutes to soak this all in. This is quite...unexpected."

Light nodded. “Yes, I can that this type of news is quite...imperceptible.” Though his father wished to be alone, Light debated whether leaving him was the best choice. Perhaps it would be best if he stayed and discussed it with his dad, one on one. He almost felt ashamed. It did not seem too long ago that little Light was coming to his father for judicious advice, but not even his father's wisdom could help him in this situation.

However, when L rose from his chair, he knew the answer was obvious. “We've wasted enough time,” he stated. He walked ahead with his hands in his pockets, and Light obediently walked behind him, as if the ghost of the chain was still tugging him along. His eyes watched L walk in front of him, deducing that the pants must be two sizes bigger than normal to fit his ever growing incommodious body.

“Ryuuzaki,” Light called under his breath. L stopped and looked back and did not say a word. He waited for Light to continue.

“Thank you,” said the auburn haired man, “I know that was not easy for you.”

“I think it was much harder for Light-kun to bear than myself,” the detective stated.

“Yes, I guess so.” He looked back at the closed door to the kitchen. “Well, I must say that it went better than expected.”

“Yes, it could have gone much worse. Yagami-san handled it quite well.”

“I doubt that he's actually handled it right now.”

“Probably not.”

They connected eyes for a few seconds. The dark circles under his eyes were significantly lighter than when they first met. His hands cupped L's face. His lips lingered over L's for a few ticking seconds before he pulled apart.

“Thank you,” he repeated in a low whisper.

L's dark eyes looked down the stairs. “Light-kun, we're stalling.”

The brunet nodded and followed L down the stairs. Matsuda was reading over old files and reports and was collating them in order by date.

“Ryuuzaki,” said Mogi with urgency, “It looks like Higuchi is mumbling something. I'll turn up the volume.”

L's shuffling gait became a stride as he crossed the floor to his chair and returned to his position. Light stood behind him with his arms crossed and his eyes focused on the large screen in front of him. He cleared his head of all thoughts and placed his full attention on the man bound to the metal standing table; Kira.

Not a single sound was emitted from their persons. Only Higuchi's dry sobs and breathing.

“...can't take it anymore...” they heard, “I d-don't know what to...do. I'm so...tired and...”

“Who is he talking to?” L asked.

“It looks like he's talking to himself,” Mogi answered.

“Where's Rem?”

“The Shinigami?” Matsuda looked around, “I don't see it.”

Light's eyes narrowed. “Shinigamis do not appear on cameras. Could he be talking to Rem, then?”

L was chewing on the pad of his thumb. “It's a strong possibility. We have not given him water in several hours so he should not be wasting his breath if he was not talking to another being in the room with him. It must be Rem.”

“...please...I can't take it...anymore...” Higuchi continued to beseech, “I want...to die...”

“Amane-san also begged,” the detective stated, still nibbling on the skin of his thumb, “And soon after she appeared to have forgotten everything Kira-related and herself. Her entire personality seemed to flip.”

“Are you suggesting a juxtaposition?” Light asked as he gripped the back of L's chair.

“I am just stating the similarities. Light-kun did not beg or wish to be die.”

Higuchi sobbed a little harder, but no wet tears bled through the garment around his eyes. He just hung his head.

“We should get the Shinigami out of there before she wipes Higuchi's memories clean of everything!” Matsuda jumped into action to race down to the basement, but L halted him.

“No Matsuda,” L said, “Rem is already with him. And I have a feeling that he has not lost his memories, yet. I still have time with him.”

The young cop frowned at the great detective. “Are you sure, Ryuuzaki? Is it really safe to have the Shinigami with Higuchi?”

“Do you believe that Rem will listen to what you have to say?” L's candid answer stopped Matsuda in his spot. “Though Rem is giving us some cooperation, she is still an omnipotent being that does not have to listen or obey the rules of humans.”

“You seem to be quite fascinated by Rem,” Mogi said.

“Of course,” Ryuuzaki said as if it were so simple, “Never in my life would did I imagine I would meet such an enigmatic creature. She intrigues as much as she terrifies me.”

“Ryuuzaki.” L's computer screen lit up with the 'W' for Watari. “Higuchi has fallen asleep.”

“I see,” L's said, “When he wakes up, see if he still remembers why he is there and what the Death Note is.”

“Understood.”

“And please bring me the Death Note.”

“Okay.”

Matsuda looked at one of the many photographs they had taken of the each of the Death Note pages. “It's been three days, counting today,” he said, “What will happen when the thirteen days are up? Higuchi has yet to confess, and a trial will take too long. What should we do?”

“If the rule is true, as Rem loosely states it is, then Higuchi will die, and we will know that the rule is not a fake.”

“You mean you're going use Higuchi's potential demise to test the rule?”

Everyone turned their head around to see who spoke because it was not Matsuda. Entering in was Aizawa and Ide.

“Good morning, Aizawa-san, Ide-san,” L greeted, “It's nice to see you again. And as for your question, the rule states that if the person who has been writing down the names does not continue writing down names for thirteen days he will die. If it is true, Higuchi will die anyway. If it is not true, he will stay alive. However, if the rule is real, his demise is inoperable unless we allow him to write down more names.” His eyes lifted up to Aizawa's. “I'm one hundred percent positive that no one here would allow that to happen. It could be one of our names written next.”

The pallid detective opened a drawer where a cache of hard candies and mints were stashed. He picked up one of the candies and unwrapped it.

At that moment Soichirou entered the room and took his usual seat. He didn't say anything but instead pretended to be involved in some paperwork. While the rest were discussing Higuchi, he kept glancing over to L and Light. 'Why hadn't he seen it sooner?' he thought as he observed his son and the detective conversing together. He saw the looks they gave each other, the closeness, and the fact that Light would try to touch L subtly when he thought nobody was looking. It might have even been innocent, but now that he knew the truth of their relationship, every breath he saw the two take seemed vile. The two weren't touching now, but Light was standing next to Ryuuzaki a little too closely in his mind. Suddenly he rose from his seat.

“I've had just about enough,” he burst out, throwing his hands up in exuberance. L released a sigh through his nose; he had hoped Soichirou would not make a scene, but his hoping did not seem enough.

“Dad?” Light spun round to face his father.

"Everything okay, chief?" Aizawa asked.

“You and Ryuuzaki, I trusted you both and I never would have expected something like this, yet alone the wild story you two made up about Ryuuzaki being pregnant." L turned in his swivel to face the ex-chief. His face was very stoic and he did not talk, but it was seen that he was very annoyed. "Light, you're a disgrace and you Ryuuzaki are a bastard for seducing my son.”

Those words hurt Light; he never would have expected it from his father. Every word was true, yet his father seemed to not believe him. The room went quiet and all eyes focused on the older Yagami and the two accused.

Ide looked between the three of them. "What's...going on exactly?"

“Dad, it's true," Light said, ignoring Ide, "I'm sorry I lied to you about Ryuuzaki and me, but besides that, every word of what we told you is true. You even had the ultrasounds in your hand.”

"What is going on here?" Aizawa shouted, catching everyone's attention.

"Ryuuzaki, is there anything I can get for you?" Watari said from the corner where he was. Most obviously, he only spoke to show L he was there for him.

"I'm fine right now, Watari. Thank you." He placed his feet on the floor and looked at Soichirou. "Yagami-san, since you feel the need to disturb the peace, would you care to explain to the others as to why you're doing so?"

Soichirou puffed out his chest. "Gladly. My son and Ryuuzaki were in an intimate homosexual relationship--"

"Are in," L interjected.

"--And apparently Ryuuzaki here is a hermaphrodite and is pregnant."

The pregnant pause was broken by L chomping on another piece of hard candy. The one to speak was Matsuda.

“Ryuuzaki's pregnant?” he asked, “Con-Congratulations...but...how exactly?"

“I'm a hermaphrodite, as Yagami-san said, and Light-kun impregnated me, although we were unaware of the consequences of our intimacy.” L answered the question in his usual monotone voice. Light, unsure of what action to take or what to say, simply stood by L's side.

“Wait, this must be a joke?” Mogi asked. Aizawa was covering his mouth. Though he seemed deeply disturbed by this, he did not make any reactions.

“If a being such as a Shinigami exists then why not the possibility of a male with a functioning womb becoming pregnant?”

“Will you just stop lying. That story is absolutely ridiculous, I'm sure the doctors made a mistake,” Soichirou butted in once again.

“No, we had enough tests to know that Ryuuzaki is indeed pregnant.” Light looked at his father. Why wouldn't his dad just believe him?

“I have another ultrasound due, if you would like to attend you're more than welcome to.” L looked the older Yagami in the eyes.

“You know it does make sense,” Matsuda stated, “I mean Ryuuzaki's sudden change in behaviour, the fainting and vomiting. Who else here noticed he was gaining weight?”

A few heads looked down. They all felt that it was true after Matsuda's statement, there was no denying it now even though it seemed completely bizarre.

"Ryuuzaki, if I may?" Watari stepped forward, approaching the centre of their circle. "If I may have your attention, please? Yagami-san, you always have your son's guard when he is vulnerable, yes? You protect him as your duty as a father. Now, I may not be Ryuuzaki's father, but he is like my son, and I will be there to protect him. Though he would rather bite broken glass than admit it," L and Watari exchanged a look, "But he, too, is frightened by all this. He nor Light knew any of this would happen when it did, and I do not hold either one of them responsible. This is the very first case that he has shown his face to this many people. It is the first time he has let down his guard for others to access and has opened up to trust so many. He has also let you know of the dangers of this case, of what could happen, and what they never thought could happen. Now I'll ask you all one last question:

"If you cannot handle being with a man who is pregnant, can you really handle a mad man like Kira? If not, please leave now."

The detective brought his knees back to his chest. Memories...so long ago...

He was frightened and alone. Where was she? "M-Momma! Momma!"

"Are you alone, child?"

L whipped around and saw a figure in his way. The man, as he could tell from the voice, was dressed in all black. Even the umbrella he used to keep out the snow was black. Frightened, the little boy took a step back.

"I-I'm not allowed to talk to strangers."

The man bent down. He was old with a wrinkled face and kind blue eyes. A moustache covered his top lip. "What's your name, son?"

"Th-They c-call me L."

"That's an odd name."

"You're an odd man."

He chuckled. "Well, L," said the man, "Do you know about good guys and bad guys?" L nodded his head. "Well, I have a badge to show I am a good guy." He fished in his coat and pulled out his wallet where he shined a gold badge at L. "My name is Mr. Wammy. I work with Interpol of the Secret Service. I put bad men away." He noticed L was shivering from head to toe. The boy had on very little clothing. "By God, you're not wearing shoes! Aren't you cold?"

"I d-don't like shoes."

"Please, come with me," Mr. Wammy said. And he shuffled the boy with bare feet away. That was the last he saw of his mother, whose face he quickly forgot, and the first he met Watari. Since then, Watari had always been by his side. The man was so close to his ending years, and still he threw himself out to protect the man that was not his son. He looked at Watari, at Quillish Wammy, with adoring eyes. It had been so long since he remembered who this man truly was; his saviour.

He broke out of his reverie to what was happening now. There was still silence and answers to be said. Who will stay? And who will go?

Matsuda was the first to speak. He nodded his head firmly. "I'm staying."

"Me, too," said Ide.

"I chose to stay before, and I'm choosing again." Mogi nodded.

Aizawa released a sigh. "L, you already know that I can't stand you. I honestly hate everything about you, and this gives me more reason to do so. But, I can't deny that you are a brilliant man, and with your help, we will stop Kira. After all this, I hope to never see you again." He nodded his head. "I'm staying."

Only one man left. Light could not bring himself to look at his father. Soichirou was now seated in a chair.

"Yagami-san?" Watari asked, "Will you stay or will you go?"

He licked his lips. Then released a sigh of breath through his nostrils. "L, you are the most despicable man I know. I can never forgive you for what you have done to my family and my son. But...as Aizawa-san has stated, Kira is a monster that we must stop. I'll stay until we find him. After that, I want you to stay out of my life and my son's life. Is that clear?"

"Crystal," L said, reaching for another candy.

From the shadow of the room the Shinigami creature, Rem, observed. “So that explains a few things,” and with that she merged into the wall again returning to Higuchi's side.

The day was long and it was still taking the team a while to get used to the situation. L could feel eyes on him often but there was only one pair of eyes he wanted to look at him more that anything else. Light hadn't said much to him since their revelation; he was currently busying himself with case notes. Finally, after another day of little cooperation from Higuchi, L sent the team home. Light looked at his father but did not say anything when he saw Light remained in his seat. Soichirou assumed that Light was staying with L for the night and there was nothing he could do to convince his now-adult son to come home with him. He might not have liked the idea of the two engaging in acts of intimacy, yet at least they weren't going to be doing it right under his nose.

As soon as the last person had left L and Light turned to each other and kissed, pulling on the others sleeves and crushing their mouths together.

“Damn, I miss doing that,” Light said as he brought his lips down onto the detective's again.

“I know,” he replied embracing the brunet and pulling him close. His arms wrapped round Light's shoulders, nose pressed into the crook of his neck. His head was beginning to hurt and he felt the strong hold of anger that gripped him earlier slowly begin to cease when he felt Light's hands spread over his back.

The detective knew he couldn't resist those lips any longer, and it wasn't long before he felt the familiar heat of arousal in his loins. He wanted Light very badly for some reason, but for now he just felt the need to be held. Truth be told he was more afraid of what might happen to his body during his pregnancy, than Kira. And now everyone knew. It was no longer a secret, but...they seemed to have accepted it too easy. It was odd. He expected them to have a bigger problem than what they seemed to have taken it too lightly. He feared that this was the calm before the storm but he could be wrong...

“Is everything okay, Ryuuzaki?” Light asked when he noticed L didn't pull away after a while like he usually did. Instead, he gave a nod and continued his cuddle with Light. Light ran his fingers through raven silky locks and kissed his forehead. He hadn't expected his father to react like this at all and it seemed Ryuuzaki hadn't anticipated it either. But he also did not expect his father to just be “okay” with it either; actually, he wasn't sure what to expect since he really didn't think about telling him, yet. At least now their secret was out in the open.

They were interrupted when Watari called them for dinner. L had apparently lost his appetite and picked at his sweetened piece of chicken. It was Watari's attempt to sweeten food to get L to eat healthily for the baby and himself although so far it was having very little success. Light watched as he poked a carrot around his plate with his fork. Eventually the scraping sound of the fork annoyed him for too long.

“Ryuuzaki, if you're not going to eat that then just leave it alone,” he sighed. L looked up then placed his fork down.

“I'm not hungry, that's all,” he replied a little solemnly.

Light stared at his boyfriend for a few seconds, sensing some anguish coming from the detective. He seemed more weary and his shoulders were hunching forward more than usual, as if a heavy weight was suddenly tied to his back.

“That's okay. Come on, let's clean this lot up.” They took their plates to the kitchen, scraped the remains in the bin, and then placed them inside the dishwasher. They were also silent as they did so. It was still early in the evening, but with nothing else to do, the two men decided that perhaps the best way to unwind was with a bath and then an early night of rest.
Light lead L by the hand to the bathroom; today they would use the Japanese bath as it was big enough for both of them to relax comfortably. Light turned on the taps and tested the water to the right temperature, not too hot but not too cold either, and he added some lavender oil while L sat on the edge of the bath.

"You can't have a bath like that, Ryuuzaki," the young teen said referring to the fact that L had not even started undressing. "Here, I'll give you a hand." He pulled his lover to his feet, gently, then slowly placed his hands under L's baggy shirt which L allowed him to do. Light brought his lips down on the curve of L's neck and began to gently kiss that area while his hands roamed across his lover's growing abdomen. L gently leaned into Light's kisses, the steam rising from the bath made him close his eyes and inhale deeply. He let out a soft moan as Light's hands pulled down his trousers and underwear. L gasped as his lower region was exposed to the warm air in the room, then he leaned forward and kissed the brunet fully on the lips. He could feel himself grow aroused as his tongue brushed against Light's. Once Light had removed L's shirt he began to undress himself.

"Ryuuza..." Light moaned as L was more than eager to help him divest his clothing and kissed him fiercely. L stepped into the bath, now taking over, apparently, and pulled Light towards him once the other male was half submerged. Light turned off the tap then half-swam, half-walked over to L who was up against the side of the round wooden bathtub. They had never used it before today because they were usually so busy or tired to take the time to relax. But today was different. Even the stress they induced and what they knew would no doubt come, they lived in this one moment together because who knew when this piece would be disturbed. Their lips connected again as they embraced each other in the warm scented water.

"I'm sorry about my father. I honestly didn't expect him to react that way..." Light began but was cut off by L who was eagerly kissing him again. Obviously the detective didn't feel like talking as Light could feel L's erection in the water brush against his stomach. They had talked enough as it was.

"Sometimes you talk too much, Light-kun." L pulled the auburn head on top of himself and rubbed his knee against Light's groin in an attempt to show Light exactly what he wanted.

"Horny?" The brunet raised a think eyebrow.

"Very," L replied as he sucked on his lover's fleshy lobe. Light never thought he would see the day that L behaved so ruttish, but he allowed himself to be seduced by this black haired nymphomaniac. When he was hard enough he aligned himself at L's entrance, and thanks to the water acting as lubrication, he slid inside his partner. L moaned with pleasure, wrapping his legs around Light's waist, practically forcing himself onto Light's erection. He was quite forceful in his movements as he pushed Light against the side of the tub and began to pace himself up and down.

"Ha..." Light moaned as he sat back just letting L do all the work by using the water and the edge of the bath to aid his movements.

L was panting now as beads of sweat collected on his forehead as he pressed it against Light's. He continued to ride against the younger male, small grunts and gasps escaping his lips as he forced the organ deeper and deeper into his crevice. This strange, intangible desire for passion was very unlike what he was used to, but for now, he knew he needed to feel Light inside him, he needed to feel connected. Light was close, L could tell by the way he was starting to grit his teeth. His pace increased and water splashed about over the edge of the tub. Another moan from Light and L felt Light's legs twitch in the familiar way that let him know he had released himself so it was only natural when L released a few seconds later. It didn't bother them that their seed floated around the water as it was typical in Japan after a bath to take a shower. Light pulled L onto his lap and rested his cheek against his shoulder. For a while they enjoyed the silence around them and the warmth of the water until Light spoke.

"Ryuuzaki, what are we going to do once the baby is born? I mean we can't keep it here. What if Higuchi gives us no answers?" Light rubbed L's stomach. L looked at him. "I mean you do want me around, right? Even though before you said you didn't."

Opaque obsidian eyes blinked lazily at him while his the blood began to flow back into his brain. Light's hands rubbed his lower back. "I haven't thought of that, yet. It's still a few months before it will be born. And as for where we will live...I'm assuming I'll be travelling like I do now. I don't actually have a 'home' since I move from place to place so frequently. The baby will just have to come with me."

Light closed his eyes in an extended blink. "And me?"

"If you are proven to not be Kira, I will think more heavily on the matter. You have a more parenting personality than I do, and you've certainly expressed your need to be a father figure in the child's life. However, Light-kun," this time L's tone was serious, the same tone he carried when he talked to the others about Kira or when he was about to banter on the subject of Light's supposed innocence, "whether I am pregnant or not is irrelevant. L comes first before Ryuuzaki does. I'm a detective before a mother. Catching Kira comes before the baby."

Their eyes locked as seconds slowly ticked by. L expected Light to suddenly buck him off and he braced himself for it, but, oddly, it did not come. In fact, the detective was internally astounded to see the brunette's lips smile. Even a small laugh. L just stared.

"I don't know what's funnier," Light said, looking at L with a regaled expression, "The fact that you think I believe that or the fact that you have no idea how wrong you are?" L said nothing, his face remained completely blank. Light continued. "You hint that you come first before the baby, but I disagree. But, perhaps you haven't noticed?"

"Would Light-kun care to enlighten me, then?" he asked, slightly cocking his head.

"In the months that we've been together, I saw you as being a cocky, selfish bastard that would do anything because he had just the right amount of credentials to do even unlawful acts to get to the bottom of whatever mystery he wishes to solve. But since discovering your pregnancy, your fastidious personality has made almost a complete turn around. You eat less sweets, you catch more sleep, you're constantly worrying your belly by rubbing it, and you nearly bit my father's head off for the blasphemy he said. That wasn't L. That was you, the soon-to-be...well, whatever you want to be called."

"You're very punctilious, Light-kun."

"Thank you."

"But just because I have changed my habits does not mean I have put my job second. As you stated, I will go to any means necessary to prove I am right because I am a, ah, 'cocky, selfish bastard'. May temperament may be selfish and arrogant, but not even a bastard like I could be as cruel as to purposely abandon the health of my unborn baby." Instinctively, his hand touched his abdomen.

"Of course not," Light said, still smiling like he knew something L did not, "But you're changing. You're becoming human is what it looks like." His hands still traced circles on L's lower back. The tender caressing made him shiver. "When I met you, you seemed...inanimate. Like a machine. L. A tool for solving crimes is what I believe you described to me once. But now..." His fingers traced L's hips, making the detective's groin tingle, "...now you act more human, you actually have a personality that goes beyond that of a computer's. You might not see it, but I do. You're different but in a good way."

His hand left L's hip and settled on his chest where he felt the patter of L's heartbeat. "This is the first time you've been forced to interact with others, I bet. It's bringing out the real person in you, a person you were unaware of." He noticed the pallid cheeks of his lover slightly tinge with pink as his thumb roamed over his nipple. "It's different, I know. It could lead to your demise. Personal feelings cannot get in the way, remember?" As Light leaned forward, L instinctively moved back but was held in place as lips descended on his sternum, kissing his thudding heart. He shuddered as he witnessed Light's pink tongue move and lick against his pale skin. "I want to show you that there's nothing wrong with being human." His tongue crept closer to his nipple and Light's hands were pulling their hips closer together again. "I want to show you what it feels to have your emotions exposed."

"Mm!" L mewled as his perky bud was licked.

"But most of all..."

"Hah." Their penises were rubbing together under the water creating a lusting sensation that tickled the base of his spine. Light's lips barely hovered over L's ear.

"...I want you to lose control for just this moment."

L rolled his head back as lips attacked his Adams apple. Light's hips rolled against his own, moving in a circular motion. Wanton feelings came sprouting again as their groins rubbed against each other and soft lips kissed and suckled at flesh. Slender, slightly calloused fingers gripped his shaft and pulled on the skin. The ravenhead sighed and gripped Light's shoulders a little tighter. He mumbled something incoherent as he felt penetrated once again. A strong hand held his hip and directed him to move up and down in rhythm. Another hand stroked his cheek and cupped it when lips met in passion. Spidery fingers entangled themselves in auburn hair as tongues danced.

"L," murmured Light.

They became engrossed with each other. The feel of hands and lips and legs and flesh lasted forever in this moment. What they did was different from before. It wasn't just sex. It was...

...well, honestly, L was not sure what it was.

More gentle touches and soft kisses led to more sensual caresses until they fell over the edge again and again. Their hands and feet had the same texture as raisins and the waster was lukewarm and tepid before they finally laid against the side of the wooden lining, physically exhausted.

"We're both going to need a shower after this," Light said with a giggle. The surface of the water had turned a milky colour.

L made a noise in agreement. His cheek rested against Light's shoulder and his eyes were shut comfortably to show he could snooze off any minute.

"Hey," Light said, slightly shaking the man in his arms out of his stupor, "Don't fall asleep."

"I'm not," muttered the detective, "I'm just thinking."

"What are you thinking about?"

"About how I am going to walk around while being inconspicuous about having your dick shoved in my ass about three times."

Light chuckled. It sounded nice reverberating against L's ear drum.

But what he said was a lie, and he knew Light knew he was lying. He didn't care what the others saw, as long as there were no tedious comments to follow. No, instead he had been thinking about why he felt so content when he was wrapped up in the arms of his suspect when he shouldn't be. He pondered on what was happening to him and whether or not it was Light's fault. Was he being played into a twisted web that Light had designed? He knew he had to stop this, even tried to, but he came back for more. He knew of the dangers and the threats but he turned a blind eye to them. Like an addict, he knew the consequences but continued to dwell in it. He only asked logical questions, questions he knew would be answered sometime, but these, he felt, were the ones that had too many conflicted meanings; the same ones he would always avoid.

Or actually, what he used to avoid.

What happened to him? He felt like he was someone else who had crawled into the skin of L and tried to be L but was not L. Halloween. Masks and costumes but never a witch or a zombie. Just a kid in a costume. He used to be L. It was who he was. His thoughts, motives, and absurd patterns of action and eccentric-ness could be surmised in three simple words, the first words he spoke in front of Police Chief Soichirou and his team:

I am L.

He missed that feeling. The feeling of certainty of who he was. And dammit, but Light was right. L did feel like a robot, a tool used to solve cases sometimes. Though he could travel the world and meet thousands of people, it was not really L who was introducing himself; it was whatever alias he had come up with on the top of his head. L was his identity. It might be a name for a tool but it was who he was. And now...maybe he was turning into something more human, but it wasn't him. L was not meant to be held in the arms of anyone, especially not Kira suspect number one. L was not meant to have such emotional conflicted thoughts and was not supposed to crave sex with aforementioned suspect like a sexually-starved nymphomaniac. L did not make stupid mistakes he knew to avoid. And L most definitely did not get pregnant.

But this L did.

I do not like this new L.

Light must have grown tired of the silence as it had suddenly turned cold and unwelcoming. "Hey," he said, nudging L a little with his shoulder to act as though he were trying to wake him when even he knew he was not asleep, "I'd been wondering...How did my father get the sonogram pictures in the first place? I thought you put them up?"

"I must have misplaced them when I was caught up interrogating Higuchi," he answered.

When I was pretending to be L.
