Robots, Games And Chocolate

Near whimpered quietly as he got out of the bed and dressed.... he turned and watched Matt who was still sleeping soundly..
Near limped to the main room, and waved off the curious and worried looks he was receiving. “I expect Mello today, he’ll come while were weakened from yesterday’s events.”
Rester nodded “Should we stop him.”
“No he will be carrying a weapon... maybe use Halle to get in here.. let him.” Near said sitting on floor pulling a toy train and car set out, and began constructing it.
Halle walked forward. “Near about yesterday...”
“I don’t wish to discuss that..” he frowned as he replied. “Rester make me cup of tea. Gevanni i believe you had unfinished work from yesterday. we need to pick up slack caused... and Halle shower and change your clothes.... Matt told you that last night”
Rester got on with Nears tea, Gevanni bowed and collected his files taking them to his desk and computer. and Halle bowed “I decided to finish tidying up and sorting few things out. i’ll go shower immediately”
Near merely nodded in response as he finished setting the 3 tier train set up around him in a circle.
As Rester placed his drink down by his train set. Near placed on the cars and train in there places before starting it. He drank from his cup as he watched the cars and train go round him and he felt in his pocket for the photo he knew was there.

A short while later Rester spoke up. “Near, Mello has Halle with gun pointed to her head.”
“Let them in.” Near replied not looking from his car and train set. his back to the door.
Gevanni opened the door and in came Halle followed closely behind by Mello who had large dark red coat on, with hood obscuring his face.
Near spoke with out turning “Nice to see you Mello...”
Mello growled “I don’t want to talk to you Near. I came for what is mine.”
Near removed the photograph taking a look at it before throwing it over his shoulder towards Mello.
Mello caught it easily and looked at his younger self on the photo. He turned it over spotting Near neat and small handwriting . “Dear Mello...” was all that was written. ‘What could he want to write’ Mello thought to himself.
“Was that all Mello. Or was there anything else.” Near replied half looking over his shoulder, before glancing down the hallway where Matt was sleeping. “After all there will always be work for you here. in effort to catch Kira.”
Mello growled and pointed his gun at Nears head.. Halle and Gevanni withdrew there weapons aiming for Mello as Rester moved to stand in line of fire between Mello and Near.

In the bedroom Matt was waking and looked around for Near... not finding him in bed.’I must be running late again’ Matt groaned and crawled on of bed climbing into his jeans and pulling his striped top on, before heading to the main room .... He paused at sight Near was crouched in his circular train and car set Rester standing close by with Halle and Gevanni aiming gun at someone.... stepping further into the room to see who was threatening Near he Gasped loudly causing Near and Mello to turn towards him.
He walked towards Mello. Mello lowered his gun slightly “What the hell are you doing here with cue-tip.” Mello growled out.
Matt walked up to Mello slapping him hard round the face. “You knocked me out and left me you ....you.... bastard.” Matt panted trying to calm down. “Near looked after me.. he stayed with me more then you did.” Matt almost shouted.
Mello held his cheek shocked “Maybe he didn’t leave you Matt.... But i left for a reason i told you that in letter.... and if he’s so innocent why didn’t he warn you i was coming...”
Matt turned looking at Near, He returned his gaze to Mello. “I hate you .... you left me, you hurt me in worst way possible. I hate you.” Matt screamed out, wiping his eyes.
Mello winced at Matt’s tone and tried to hug him and receiving another hard slap to his already reddened cheek....”Don’t touch me you bastard....”
Near stood “Matt hitting him won’t help.”
“Leave me alone;” Matt growled out.... Near sighed “Let me explain why...” Near stopped and Matt slapped him Rester grabbed Near so he wouldn’t fell and Gevanni made to grab Matt.... Matt shrugged out of Gevanni’s hold and running to the bedroom slamming the door burying himself in under the covers.

Mello stood there surprised watching where Matt had run off to, Near stood straight taking a deep breath before walking close to Mello. “You have your picture now please leave. “
Mello turned looking at Nears red cheek and unshed tears, Nodding. “ For helping me with the photo..... One of the rules in the notebook is fake” Mello said quietly and turned walking out.
Rester approached Near slowly, laying a hand on his shoulder... Near shook his head. “I’m fine.... Get back to work.” Near walked to the bedroom slowly. The gave each other a small glance before following their orders and getting back to work.

Near approached the end of the bed cautiously. “Matt please...”
Matt turned the music up on whatever hand-held, he had hidden under there.
Near sighed “Matt.... at least listen.....” Near paused briefly and heard the hand-held go on pause. “Yes i knew he would come. i didn’t wake you because you were tired from last night.... I wanted to convince him to work here, with us so you’d be happy again. I know i don’t make you happy, That you love him. I know i’m just replacement. i was trying to help.” Near stopped sighing. “I’m sorry.... ill leave you alone” Near stood and left not looking back.
As he left Matt started playing the game again not responding.

Near walked slowly down the hall entering the main room... He looked around and walked to the corner of the room where a large pile of mixed plushies were. He climbed into the middle of them and sat thinking not noticing the tears rolling down his own cheeks.
Halle, Rester and Gevanni all watched Near silently.... Gevanni stood and made to walk to Near, Halle stood and stopped him shaking her head “Get back to work, Leave him be.” Halle said quietly looking to Near, Before going back to her desk, Gevanni returned to his desk working quietly for few hours before standing. “I’m done for the night.” Rester nodded his head.... Halle stood “Me too, Early start in the morning.” She glanced to the plushies and sighed and walked past them, and Near. Before going downstairs to her room.
Rester walked to Near he opened his mouth to say something, pausing as Near looked up shaking his head as tears ran down his cheeks. Rester nodded and walked away checking security before leaving Near alone to cry silently.
