Heartfelt Interference
Chapter Fifteen
Age Seventeen
It's funny how a singular moment could become the most frightening, heart stopping thing ever. A second ago you had been wrapping yourself in a towel as you tried to figure out if Rorsh showing back up was just a dream. Now your heart was clenched as you hurried forward, body slipping in awkward ways over the uneven rocks. Despite how quickly you were able to move it still wasn't fast enough.
Rorsh slammed across the ground. You watched in horror as he used the force of the bodyslam to roll back onto his feet and dodge Nox's next attack. You have never fought the two of them against one another before, not even for training. Yet they moved like old rivals across the rocks, their bodies practically blurs. It would have been awe inspiring as you watched just how powerful the two eeveelutions had gotten when you seemingly hadn't been paying attention. Especially considering that they weren't actually using any moves sanctified by the pokemon league. Right up to the point where you saw a flash of glowing red.
You knew beyond a doubt that Rorsh was about to use a psychic attack. Even as you spoke, you continued to rush forward towards the fight. "Rorsh! Don't!"
He didn't listen to you. He tried his attack. He was powerful but there was a fatal flaw to his strategy. As a dark type pokemon, Nox would be immune to his psychic attacks. You could practically see the faint lilac line around Nox as Rorsh tried to press into him with his psychic abilities. But without missing a beat as Nox rushed forward, Rorsh's attack was shattered. Nox's body blurred both ways and you recognized what was happening. He was using a Feint Attack. It was one of the things that you had actually worked with him on but the way he went at it was much more vicious than you'd ever seen before.
Right before the hit made contact you finally reached the two of them and braced for impact. Your arms pulled in towards yourself to try and strengthen your torso to take the blow. It was going to hurt more than anything you'd gotten to this point, that much you knew. Somehow though there was no pain. You opened your eyes after the split second of not feeling the impact to see shimmering green around your body. The energy had expanded as your arms released, like a bubble. It pushed back both Rorsh and Nox. The water lapped at Rorsh's feet as Nox braced himself against a rock jutted out from the ground. You smiled in relief even though you felt as though someone had shoved handfuls of cotton in your ears. That feeling quickly seeped into your entire head, blocking out your ability to hear anything at all.
The green bubble popped suddenly. With its pop a white light flooded your site, leaving you blind. You realized rather too late that you weren't going blind - you were just passing out. It all happened in a split second and so you had no time to brace yourself for this one as your body gave way to gravity.
Now if was your pokemons' turn to feel the heart gripping fear you had felt. Rorsh was able to respond quicker than either Flareon or Umbreon in order to save you from hitting your head on the unforgiving rocks. That was only because of the fact that he could use Psychic to pick you up in a warm cocoon of mental energy. Not that you felt it of course, you were completely oblivious to what was going on around you. It was in this moment that Nox growled low as he approached Rorsh, the threat very clear in his body language. Flareon pushed his way between the two pokemon.
"Will you two stop acting like children?" Flareon spoke out in an irritated tone.
Rorsh looked towards the fire type eeveelution with a serious expression. His jewel flickered and glowed even in the low light, the red glittering off his lilac fur, as he moved you over to the soft sand and dirt area that you had cleared out. Nox did not have such a calm reaction.
"Shut up."
"Why? You don't like the truth? You are acting like a baby," the firetype reiterated. "I don't know what's going on between the two of y--."
"He ran away," Nox interrupted as he stood on guard.
"I came back," Rorsh added.
"But you still le--"
"Like I said - I don't know what happened but I saw what it did to her. Just like I see what you're both doing to her now. She passed out because of you two. Or did you guys not notice that?"
Nox hesitated in a moment as he looked over to you. His ears flickered in your direction as he tried to put together everything that had happened in the last minute. The green barrier which pushed him away from Rorsh and vice versa had been a surprise. It was almost like the move he had learned back as an eevee. Protect. He had never seen you conjure such a thing before. He had never seen a human do such a thing. His attention turned back towards Rorsh. The bastard didn't look in the least bit surprised. He didn't even look remorseful. All that Nox could make out was an unwavering determination across the lilac bastard's face.
"Stop it."
Flareon turned his muzzle to look towards Nox. "What?"
The umbreon shook his head, ears pushing backwards in anger once more. "Not you. The bastard."
"Stop what?" Rorsh asked, practically rolling his eyes.
"Stop looking at her. You have no right to even think about her after what you've done."
A vicious look ran across Rorsh's purple eyes. "I've been in her thoughts more than you'll ever know."
Flareon's attentioned turned towards Rorsh this time. He was standing between the two of them trying to stop an all out war. Yet there was a lot more between them then he understood. He knew that they had quite a bit of history before he'd shown up simply because he had never even met Rorsh. The psychic pokemon had disappeared before he'd been transferred to your care. Yet as he looked between the moonlight and sun pokemon, Flareon got the distinct impression that this was a new thing. Especially as it took Nox a moment to understand whatever message that Rorsh had put into his words.
Nox rushed forward again, crimson eyes flashing brightly in the dark as he sought blood. Flareon threw off his path as he shot embers all over. Nox jumped backward, flipping in the air. His golden rings made a trail of light even as he ran forward. Right back into the line of fire - literally at this point. In an attempt to get Nox to stop and think. His Fire Spin attack was mostly aimed just slightly away from the pissed off pokemon. Though as Nox moved back and pulsed with dark energy the firetype pokemon regretted his strength. He was hit with the wave of energy from Nox's Dark Pulse. He collapsed towards the ground and had a hard time finding his footing after that, his breathing labored quite a bit.
"No need to take your jealousy out on him, he's not the one who's been in her dreams," Rorsh taunted in a smooth, dark tone.
"YOU BASTARD!"
