Friendships

Through the whole flight neither talked much, save a few commands to their pokemon.
When they reached Mossdeep the girls were running to the gym. Upon arrival, a sign saying te gym was closed for
rennovations was on the door. The good news, there was only two days left before it opened again.
"Aw shit!"

"Kate. This means Amanda hasn't been here yet."

"It also means I have alot of time to think. And that hasn't been feeling well lately."

"Let's go find a place to stay."

"I know of one. I just wonder if he's home or not."

Kate had begun walking leaving Ami to space out for a moment before she started to jog after Kate.

"wait. Who do you mean ' if He's home or not'? she asked the older girl.

"A friend of mine lives here, he isn't always home, but I crash here when he is..."
She looked at Ami.
"... and if i'm lucky, sometimes he doesn't lock the door."

A look of shock came across Ami's face. "You break into his home!"

"Shh. Keep it down. I don't break in, I just don't have the heart to tell him that I lost another key he had given me."

"Wait. he gave you a key?"
"Several actually."
"And what happened to them?"
"Lava, bottom of the ocean, Lost in a cave. Sand storm blasted one to nothing. Oh, and my gulpin ate the last one."
"Yea. That sounds like you." Ami had to pry her eyes away from Kate.
"Don't be so mean. oh there's his place now." Kate began to jog and all Ami could do was watch as she walked on,
thoughts passing through her mind.

She heard calling and was brought back to reality, Kate was smiling and waving Ami in. "He's home!"

"So there isn't going to be any B&E today?" Stepping next to Kate.
"B&E? What does she mean kate?" Came a male voice.
"Uuum. Nothing."
"Let me guess. You lost another one." Steven said in an amused tone.
"Well..." Kate said hesitantly.
"What happened this time?"
Ami chimed in. "Her Gulpin ate it." Kate shot a glare at the girl, Ami smiled.
"You're just lucky I've started keeping a box of extra keyes around for you."
Ami snickered. "you're joking? When did you start doing that?" Kate asked.
He thought a moment. "After you lost the tenth in the backyard..."
He stepped aside and let them through. "...Which I found yesterday, in the garden."
They took seats around the table.
"So I guess you need a place to stay."
"Yea. Just untill the gym opens."
"Well, you're room is ready. The maid had quite a hard time getting that paint out of the bedsheets."
Ami gave Kate a questioning look.
"Paint by number. Fell asleep." She said with an embarrassed smile.

The rest of the day and the following day was pretty uneventful. Ami and Kate took a walk to the beach, where Ami swam while
Kate took pictures of girls when they weren't looking. Ami ignored it, Kate had always been that way, no use changing her.
After a full day soaking in sun and photography, the girls headed back to Steven's, he wasn't there,
but the door was open for them.

A note was on the table and Kate walked past it.
"Aren't you going to read it?"
"No. It just says he went to dig in a cave, study a steel pokemon, or to visit some girl somewhere."
"Oh." She picked it up and read it. Kate was right.
"Satisfied?"
"Yea. He went to visit some girl."
Kate smiled. "C'mon, I'll make dinner."

five minutes later they sat in the backyard eating instant noodles. "Bachelor food. Takes about a minute to cook and four to cool."
"Hey, I eat this all the time." Kate spoke up.
"Kate food. Like bachelor food, but for Kate." They both laughed. Ami sat her bowl down. "How can you eat this all of the time? I have it one day and
I'm ready to eat my own foot." She picked up the wrapper. "I mean, look at all of the preservatives. I can't even pronounce that one."
Kate picked up her wrapper. "Which one?"
" The sodium one."
"Yea. Which one?"
"The one followed by the word starting with a T."
"Tripolyphosphate?"
"Yea. That one."
"Simple. I can eat it, becasue I don't know or care what it is..." She took a bite. "...and it taste good."
Ami just shook her head. "Youll never change."
"Is that a good thing?"
"Yea. It is."

They finnished and threw away the trash.
"Well. It's late. I can sleep on the couch and let you have the guest bed again."
"No. I'll let you have the bed tonight Kate."
"I don't think you want to do that. that couch might be fine for sitting..." She popped her neck. "But it isn't exactly great for sleeping."
"And you slept on it!"
"Ami. I'm not stupid. I slept on the floor. I learned before that the couch is from hell."
"Just come sleep in the bed with me, it'll be like when we were younger."
"Okay. not too long ago you had freaked about my preferences, and now you want to share a bed?"
It dawned on Ami, and she had to think fast. "Well. You know... then it was so sudden. But you're my friend. my BEST friend.
And I know that you wouldn't do anything."
"I wouldn't be so sure, you do have a cute butt."
Ami turned beet red. "I. I umm."
"Relax Ami. It was a joke." Kate put a hand on her shoulder. "You know I wouldn't do that."
"Yea." Kate smiled and headed upstairs. And a look of defeat appeared on the trainers face.
'She wouldn't do anything. I have to start thinking before I talk.'
"Ami."
"Coming." She took a breath and started upstairs.
